Anvaller: If u start saying stuffs like "use your head people", maybe u should use ur head 1st, No sustainable project could be achieved by fire brigade approach.. what is wrong if a project takes longer time if it will be sustainable?. U have listed problems here in ur questions, so in ur opinion, a way to solve them is to distribute tablets? If u looked at my previous comments here, I have asked questions that is yet unanswered. If the government is effectively solving all the problems u have listed, no one will be so critical about this sham. Now u are talking of libraries in a tablet,

Tell me what are the books in that tablet?

Are they books required in local syllabus in Nigeria? (they are saying encyclopedia and stuffs as if their exams are based on disparage information in an encyclopaedia

Would these students get to read their exact text books, their social studies, integrated science, modern biology etc that is being used in class electronically in their various tablets?

What is the lifespan of this tablet?
What is the replacement strategy in case of theft or damage?
Are they going to sell or distribute them free of charge?

Are they going to distribute to every secondary school students? (all of u proponents are yet to answer this question)
So when the current students pass out, do the new ones also get tablets... Now u are talking of street smart... Tell me what is smart about this? Even the developed countries don't embark on such wasteful project, its expensive and not sustainable. It is simply not smart. I have suggested more reasonable projects they could have done in my previous comments, but u chose to ignore those. I am offering constructive criticism here, that's why I never get involved in other arguments on the names given the tablet.

U talked about Jamb going computer based, well using tablets does not guarantee that they can do computer based test, cos they will not do the exam on tablets, they will use basic computers. Normal computer and a tablet is not the same thing they have different xteriistics, and mode of operation is different. They will still have problem with simple stuffs like navigating with a mouse and using the key pad, in other words, they are still somewhat computer illiterate, so that flaws ur point absolutely.

U know what? I can not continue to debate this nonsense... I wish you good luck with ur tablets.. we shall see how it goes.
The proposed Ajumo 'mo is an offshoot of the Opon imo, i don't expect any significant change in the implementation.

The textbooks will cover neco & waec & jamb syllabuses and in addition past questions of all the neco, waec and jamb exams, practical simulations, video and audio.

As of today, to the best of my knowledge, schools are being upgraded e.t.c

Check below for answers to some of your questions. The focus is SS1 -SS3 Students.

WHAT IS THE VISION BEHIND THIS PROJECT?

* To democratize access to learning.

* To complement current education reform.

* To help senior secondary school student better prepare for School Leaving ?Examinations.

* To use technology as a silver bullet to the learning problem in Osun.

WHY TABLET PC AND NOT A TRADITIONAL PC?

* Allows for mobility of student and tool.

* It is the most cost effective option given all variables

* Access to alternative powering – as it can now be powered in school and home

* It is a novel idea. It makes it even more aspirational for the user and community

* It gives the idea of a personal touch and thus aids personal studying opportunities any time of day

HOW DOES IT CONCISELY TACKLE PROBLEM WITH EDUCATION IN THE STATE?

* Unprecedented access to learning content.

* Huge cost saving in Text books procurement for the State.

* Access to updated information and trends by both the teachers and students.

HAS THE COUNTRY’S ELECTRICITY CHALLENGES BEEN TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION?

The Mobile nature of the Opon Imo device allows for flexibility in powering. It can be charged either in school or at home or both. In addition, communal Solar Chargers will be provided in schools to allow the students access to power.

The Electricity status of the country was a big consideration in the creation of this custom made tablets. The availability of recharge options and ease of recharge were carefully and strongly considered when approving this project.

WILL STUDENTS BE ABLE TO USE THIS TOOL?

The project was conceived for the Students; the technology was built to enable the Students; the success indicators are the Students! To further ensure there are no surprises with the results; a cultural and educational engagement program is being put in place to assess the acceptance of the Students and Teachers of the Tool; the acceptance and ease of use by the student, the relief and hope this brings to the parents and more so the motivation it gives to the teachers is an encouraging indicator that this Tablet of Knowledge is here to stay.

HOW WILL THIS INITIATIVE BENEFIT THE STATE?

* COST SAVINGS – There is already a Cost savings of around N8.4b by using the digital alternative versus paper textbooks. This is also a great aid for the parents of students who are in the Public Schools as they can refocus a large chunk of their income

* TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT AND ADAPTATION – This initiative will enable knowledge transfer via the use of cutting edge technology. Technology will easily be used and consumed by the arms and people of the state and this will bring a lot of progress to the individual and State.

* INDUSTRIALISATION – Of the 150,000 tablets to be distributed to students, 100,000 of these will be produced in a factory to be built in the State, in conjunction with Opon Imo foreign technical partners. With this development, it is believed that, many industries and businesses will easily find the State of Osun adaptive for their projects and business. This blows wide open the opportunities that can be explored in the State given the growth and adaptation of Science and Technology at all levels.

* IMPROVED EDUCATIONAL ACCESS FOR STUDENTS – For the Student of Public Schools, the sky becomes their limit. They now have access to their lesson notes, past question papers and much more resources necessary for their mental growth and also virtual exam environment that gets them ready and ensures they excel.

* IMPROVED EDUCATIONAL RESULTS AND PROSPECTS – Given the allowance of the use of modern state-of-the-art curriculum and education materials via the use of relevant apps, the success prospect of every child has climaxed in many ways.

HOW MUCH WILL THIS COST THE STUDENTS?

OPON IMO is Free for all Senior Secondary Students in Public School

HOW WILL PRIVATE STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM THIS?

This will be available for the students of Private Schools at a purchase fee.

WHAT IS THE STAKEHOLDER INVOLVEMENT IN THIS?

Everyone in the State of Osun is a Stakeholder. It is a project we are all committed to and are jointly motivated to see it succeed. The list is extensive and we have categorized under the following headers:

- Teachers

– Students

- Parents

- Community leaders.

WILL TRAINING BE AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS?

Yes; a cultural and educational engagement program is being put in place to assess the acceptance of the Students and Teachers of the Tool; the acceptance and ease of use by the student, the relief and hope this brings to the parents and more so the motivation it gives to the teachers is an encouraging indicator that this Tablet of Knowledge is here to stay.

WHAT ARE THE CONTENT FEATURES?

* 56 Text books covering 17 subjects

* 17 tutorial questions for the 17 subjects

* 1000 past questions

* 6 extra curricular subjects

* Educational Games

IS THERE AN IMPLEMENTATION PLAN?

Yes, there is a practical project schedule! Opon Imo is being project managed by a competent team from a foremost consulting Nigerian Company – Phillips Consulting.

HOW WILL THE DEVICE BE POWERED?

It can be charged. The tablet can be powered at home or in school. There is a communal solar charger option for charging the tablets in public schools.

CAN THIS DEVICE WITHSTAND THE NIGERIAN ENVIRONMENT?

Opon Imo was designed and built taking into account the evolving elements of our environment. It is noteworthy that the tablet ships with a water and fire proof pouch.

The Charging adaptor also comes with a fuse to protect the device from typical surges.

DOES THE DEVICE HAVE INTERNET?

The current version of Opon Imo has Internet deactivated to prevent the distraction this may cause to students at this level of education.

In addition, the Internet does not drive Opon Imo content, because of the unstable nature of current data networks in our country and the huge data requirements the device would have had.

As such, content is domiciled strictly on the Tablet.?This approach Is a Nigerian adaptation, that is believed to be suitable for developing Nations where internet connectivity can still be a challenge.

IS THERE A SUPPORT PLAN FOR THE SYSTEM?

The Support System is quite extensive:

First Level Support at School Level: Teacher (Opon Imo Ambassador).

Second Level Support: 9 Support Centers; one at each Federal Constituency.

Third Level Support: Factory Support in Osogbo.

HOW OFTEN WILL THE CURRICULUM BE UPDATED?

There will be an update mechanism at the support center level. The frequency of curriculum update will be defined by and subject to the policy of the state on refreshing study content.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE TABLET WHEN A STUDENT PASSES OUT?

Opon Imo usage is to be recycled among students that graduate into the Senior Secondary Schools. As such, upon graduation from Senior Secondary School, students are to collect their school-leaving certificate in exchange for their Opon Imo.

ARE THERE ANY KNOWN HEALTH HAZARDS TO OPON IMO?

Opon Imo is a safe learning tool. There are no known hazards.

Anvaller: Oh thank God someone is being real here, That in the bold perfectly summarizes what I have been saying.. We need to stop being emotional and be more real.. This does not make any sense... I repeat, this project does not make any sense... It would have made sense if the basics are already in place. Establish a proper learning environment 1st, u have not solved that, its like nigeria dreaming of going to space when we do not have an on premise laboratory... It's like offering home appliances to a homeless person, build the homeless a house 1st if u really want to help, mind u the cost of buying home appliances can not be compared to actually building the house to put his appliances, that's what they don't want to do.

We should demand real development, not disguised development.. what sense does that make and ppl here think we are advancing, both the people and the politicians are all deceiving themselves. And that is the sad thing in Nigeria, exactly what the politicians are aware of and they are capitalizing on that mentality to operate. Students need to advance technologically but no one is talking about the teachers, so who will teach them? Oh they will teach themselves... What a joke... This an undesirably incongruous development strategy that leads to nowhere it is ridiculous from all fronts.
Your cart before the horse analogy does not seem to hold water, you need to prove that renovating the classrooms, libraries and employment of teachers must be completed, before the Oyo state can start handing out the tablets to the students. I opined that the two can be done simultaneously, since they are independent of each other.

The tablets is an educational aid useful for the "kids" anywhere they find themselves e.g at home, outside the state, out of the country, in the jungle, in the shrine, in a no network area, in the toilet and bathroom grin
The internet facility has been disabled, and an encyclopedia installed.
... Now i will implore you to use this different lens to look at the initiative.

Library without borders !

For those clamouring for physical library. I need you to answer these questions.

Can a student use the Physical library after school closing hours on a school day?

Can a student use a Physical library on a saturday or sunday?

Can a student use a Physical library on public holidays or long /short vacations?

Can a student be assured of steady power supply in those physical libraries?

School starts from 8:00am to 2:00pm, that is 6hours, more than half of that is spent in classrooms to receive lectures, as such students have at most 2hours, if at all they want to use the library.

By 2015, JAMB has said its exams will compulsorily be computer based test !

Use your head people, and stop the useless criticisms.

It is actually a street smart initiative, why will the government wait till they renovate all the schools, that may take years. renovation and school upgrade might take a longer time. I am sure the state government has not said he will abandon school renovation e.t.c for this.

I'm sure he'd perform excellently if he runs for Senate or Reps in 2015. Oluremi is just a time waster in the Senate. But it would be a gr8 idea having KORO run for governorship which i'm sure he'd clinch and replicate his LG achievements on Lagos which his supporters strongly believe

He won at the tribunal, but lost at the appeal.

I gave ACN account only. Thats how it is with all parties.

I know first hand in my ward and in my polling booth that most of those we see on election days are those in one way affiliated to a party. Not all, MOST!

I guess my local government is different from the rest of the county.

Oga, I don hear you.

Looks like I have digressed from what brought me to this thread.

Only those that do not know jack will dismiss the coming together of Akala and Ladoja. You fit hate them, that's not the point. Point is if anyone sees them as irrelevant, that person has simply exposed himself as knowing NOTHING about our politics.
Your analysis is too simplistic and fails to take in to account several other factors.

Of course at the polling booth, every one has a political party (s)he intends to vote for.

Human nature is so complex.

BTW, let the Akala and Ladoja even successfully work together first, i doubt they will as long as they stay in two different parties.

Do not underestimate the power of unattached electorates, they tend to come out more to vote for a performing governor/politician. 2015 is not far, i have heard those who did not vote in 2011 tell me they will vote in 2015 because of ajimobi.
PoliticsRe: Oyo-2015: Ladoja And Akala Teamed-Up To Takeover by emiye(m): 4:36pm On Jun 09, 2013
The ruling Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Oyo State on Tuesday received a boost, as thousands of members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Accord Party from the Oke Ogun area of the State decamped to the party.

The defectors, who were from all the 10 local government areas that constitute Oke Ogun axis of the State, hinged their decision to join ACN on the good governance being delivered by the Governor Abiola Ajimobi-led administration and its sincerity and commitment to the transformation of the State.

While receiving the decampees at the Basketball pitch of the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba amidst singing and dancing, Governor Ajimobi commended them for their courage and determination to join the ACN, saying it was a demonstration of their appreciation of the party’s achievements in the State.

He assured the new entrants that they would be given equal treatment like the old members, urging them not to exercise any fear of being treated by anybody as strangers in ACN.

“I like to seize this opportunity to express my deepest appreciation for your declaration and decampment and I want to assure you that from today, you are not only a member of Ajimobi Movement but also bona fide members of ACN which is graduating to APC,’’ the Governor said.

Governor Ajimobi, who said that the ACN-led administration in the State would not engage in politics of bitterness, bickering and character assassination, stated that the party would continue to receive new members into the party to make it stronger and more formidable for future elections.

He also called on stakeholders and other progressive-minded people to join hands with ruling ACN to move the State forward.

The Governor told the mammoth crowd that the newly formed All Progressive Congress (APC) would be duly registered in the next few weeks and launch out to take over Nigeria through a democratic process.

In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle said that the defectors were motivated by the performance of Governor Ajimobi, assuring them of equal and fair treatment.

The representatives of the decampees led by Hon. Tajudeen Badmus lauded the Governor for his laudable achievements, adding that he had achieved within two years what others failed to achieve throughout their tenure.

They also pledged their support for Governor Ajimobi in his resolve to transform the state and make life worth living for the people.

akinalabi: Wow. Your analysis has given you away bad bad that you are not really conversant with Oyo politics.

Where did you get your 5-1 statics from? Lol.

Let me give you better statistics. I come from Egbeda lga. There are 11 wards there. When they hold ward meetings of ACN, they usually have like 200 party members per ward. That is 2,200. Each of those people can mobilize some of their friends, families, loyalists etc. I know I can mobilize 5 people. Some can do more. Some can do less. On the average, ACN can get 11,000 votes from egbeda alone through direct membeship and friends. With 33 local governments, that can get us 363,000 votes.

How many votes did we get in 2011? Over 400,000

Now imagine if these party members go in another direction, what do you think will happen?

No need to go on.

PS: Please give numbers to back up your 5-1 analysis.
the 2011 gubernatorial election had over 1.3 million votes combined in oyo state.

The easiest and surest successful mobilisation is your immediate family member(even that fails at times), any other mobilisation outside that realm is simply an act of salesmanship with no 100% guarantee.

i stand by my 5:1 assertion 1.1million(unattached electorates) : 220,000(party members/immediate family).

How do you understand mobilisation ? You can come to me to vote your Party, and i will simply tell you NO PROBLEM, and on voting day do otherwise, that is why people are not zombie, i will even collect the goodies you are bringing from your party. It happened so well in 2011 election. For every person you try to mobilise, an agent of another party(big ones) will most likely also approach him/her.

Let me even tell you something you might not be aware of, some of these party members attend more than one party meeting in quest of what they can benefit.

PoliticsRe: Oyo-2015: Ladoja And Akala Teamed-Up To Takeover by emiye(m): 1:00am On Jun 09, 2013
akinalabi: There is no illusion anywhere. The card carrying members and their followers make up the bulk of votes. These people are the ones that mobilize people, going door to door, community to community even at odds hours. Party agents are selected from them. These are tthe ones that risk it all, guarding ballot boxes, following INEC officials to collation centers and making sure everything is ok. Sometimes they get bribed and look the other way when figures are being manipulated.

When these people move in a particular direction, the effect tells on the total results. The votes of the "electorates" is an add on and not the core. This is how it will be until youths of today stop doing their politics on nairaland, Facebook and blackberry to go out there and particate.

I love the example you gave about 2007. Ajimobi wanted the ticket under AC and did not get it. He vexed and went to ANPP. Even though he lost (controversially), the effect of his moving to another party made ANPP get 11 house of assembly seats. ANPP probably would have had zero seats if Ajimobi had not left the AC. That's how it works. Unfortunately.
I put it to you that the number of electorates who are not card carrying members of a party far outnumbers the card carrying members/family members. (Ratio 5:1) at least

Let us agree on one thing, in state elections, most electorates make their decision on the party to vote for based on the "quality of the party's gubernatorial candidate". Most electorates who voted for ACN's candidates for house of assembly, house of rep e.t.c did not even know the names of the candidates but voted on the strength of the Ajimobi candidacy and some other factors like failure of the incumbent PDP government at the state level, ACN party reputation.

If Ladoja had stayed in PDP in 2011, he was not going to be the centre of attraction, as at then PDP had trampled and relegated him so badly, that he was a nonentity in that party. The moment Ladoja lost out in the power play of PDP in 2006, his supporters base layed low and also technically became irrelevant,I am sure many of his loyalists holding one post or other as at then in 2006 could not secure it in 2007,except those who switched camp

My conclusion is that Ladoja's candidacy in 2011 brought a greater loss of votes for Ajimobi than Akala.

In a short while the story will change, the "crying masses" are like virgins having sexx the first time, it will be painful for a short period of time, afterwards, you know the deal. What is happening now is the way forward for the state, What oyo state needed terribly, any governor who tries to take the lenient and slow route, will find out in four years, he has achieved little or nothing.
PoliticsRe: Oyo-2015: Ladoja And Akala Teamed-Up To Takeover by emiye(m):
akinalabi: Looks like you have made up your mind about what happened leading to 2011 and nothing can change it.

But let me say this before I go.

All members of Accord today (except those that came after 2011 elections), ALL Accord members are PDP members. If Ladoja had remained in the PDP, they would all have worked for PDP. They left for Accord and won some constituencies to the detriment of the PDP.

Let me give you an example. The current federal honourable representing Egbeda Ona Ara federal constituency was a PDP strongman. Infact, he was in the State House of Assembly between 2003 and 2007 under the platform of the PDP. He was to contest for Federal Rep under the PDP in 2011 but when Ladoja moved to Accord, he moved with him and promptly won.

All those Egbeda and Ona Ara votes simply went Accords way. They would have gone PDP's way.

The political intrigues were more complex than you stated above. That Akala performed poorly so they needed a change so it was between Ajimobi and Ladoja so they split oppositions votes. On the surface, it makes sense but in reality what happened was far from that.

Remember that the general elections are not just about the governors. A lot of interests and ambitions come into play. Senate, Federal Rep, State Rep etc.
You have made a simplistic analysis that create an illusion that only card carrying members of a party are eligible to vote, what you fail to realise is, that i as an electorate vote for Ladoja and what he stands for does not necessarily means i will vote for PDP.

You claim to know so much about oyo state politics, observe the gubernatorial election in 2007, a two horse race of Akala of PDP and Ajimobi of ANPP. It will reveal another angle to you.

Note 2007 election , Ajimobi was rigged out of his rightful position

Ibadan has virtually not changed for 30 years, and if you look at Ogun state, ABia State, Ebonyi, and a host of others, you have to wonder, are the governors actually governing or holding the people hostage as if to carry out a script?

Gbenga Daniel did absolutely nothing as governor in Ogun state, Orji Kalu and Udenwa nothing for their states, Odili and Attah nothing, and many of those northern governors, including Yar Adua in Katsina at that time, only "introduced" sharia law and nothing more.

The New Gbagi market was built by Bola Ige , Governor of Old oyo state (1979-1983).

For the upper scale market women, something more befitting is in the offing (4,000 shopping complex)and should be completed in less than 8 months. check out this thread, it has been discussed last month. https://www.nairaland.com/1295336/oyo-wemabod-begin-construction-4000-shop.

blink182: I totally agree with you. Mediocrity has to stop. What if it is a garri market, who would get killed if the whole thing was built like a simple mall-a large building with lock up tables, 5 or more entrances, garage for trucks, toilet facilities and the rest. This is bullshite jor!
grin grin grin, All the things you mentioned are there, including more. Watch the video.

I have being to the market, and it is not a run of the mill type.

Remove your ethnic and party affiliation spectacles, it is affecting your sight, and ultimately the quality of your reasoning.

The market has fire service stations,Police stations, health centres, Warehouses, car/trailer parks, modern abattoir, units of borehole water, toilet/bathroom facilities,.....e.t.c .

It is free of charge to displaced market men/women for the first three months, thereafter they pay a token for maintenance of market.

PoliticsThousands Of PDP, Accord Party Members In Oke- Ogun, Oyo State Defect To ACN by emiye(op): 1:14pm On Jun 07, 2013

Oyo State Hasn’t Borrowed A Dime In 2 Years – Ajimobi

The second half of the Governor Abiola Ajimobi administration in Oyo State was on Friday heralded with prayers, with the Governor declaring that his government, despite the huge number of projects being undertaken by it, had not borrowed a single naira from any quarters in the last two years.

The Governor spoke at an inter-faith service organized to mark the second anniversary of his administration at The Remembrance Arcade, Government House, Agodi, Ibadan.

According to the Governor, this was achieved through his administration’s financial engineering and deft management of Government’s meager resources.

The service witnessed the assemblage of traditional rulers, eminent personalities, opinion leaders, members of the State Executive Councils, the Legislators, Judicial officers, market men and women, politicians as well as Islamic and Christian religious leaders who led prayers for the State and the Government.

Governor Ajimobi, who assessed his administration in the last two years and gave himself pass mark, said that the contracts awarded by his government included construction of roads and road dualization, bridges, motor parks, neighbourhood markets and other development projects.

Interestingly, the Governor said that his government had not borrow a dime to execute those projects, all of which he said had changed the face of the State.

“I am happy to inform you all that in spite of all the projects that we have executed and are still executing, Oyo is one of the three out of the 36 States in Nigeria that has not taken any loan,’’ he said.

The Governor also said that the remaining part of his administration would be devoted to the construction of N52 billion 108-kilometre Ibadan Circular Road with development corridors, mass housing schemes, logistics centres, cargo airport and two five-star hotels, one of which is already being constructed.

Governor Ajimobi, who expressed his commitment to transforming the State to an enviable position, thanked the people of the State for their cooperation and support which he said was unprecedented in the history of the State.

“We are very happy with ourselves and with what we have done. What we are trying to do to bring back the Oyo State that we used to know, that is, to restore the lost glory of our State,’’ he said.

According to him, the purposeful leadership being given by his administration, as well as the entrenchment of peace and security and the Urban Renewal Programme had led to the influx of both local and foreign investors into the State.

Already, he said that four foreign firms had moved to the State to establish soya milk, bread baking and day old chick factories respectively, adding that these would contribute effectively to the rapid economic growth of the State.

Sermons were delivered by the Presiding Bishop of Rehoboth Cathedral, Ibadan, Bishop Taiwo Adelakun and the Chief Missioner of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society, Kano Branch, Sheikh Muyideen Bello.

Bishop Adelakun, for instance, urged the people of the State to avoid blind criticism, to be objective, principled, fair and factual, and to always pray for the Governor and his administration so as to lead the State to the Promised Land.

Sheikh Bello, on his own, congratulated the Governor for giving good name to the State, stressing that the State which used to be identified with thuggery, violence and brigandage was now at peace, with the people now sleeping with their two eyes closed

The Oyo state government appears set to transform petty and street trading to a more dignifying business with the provision of neighbourhood markets in various parts of the state.

The construction of over 1,000 shops located at the former Scouts’ camp site, Challenge area in Ibadan-the state capital, has almost been completed and will be opened for use in the next few days.

This is reportedly the first major market that will be constructed in the ancient city in over three decades. The last market was constructed in 1980.

texaco1: that is wher u are wrong, before the elections akala had always said it that the only person he fears is his boss ladoja.that is what he calls ladoja .now prior to ladoja enterance into the race there had been rumours that ibadan ppl dont ao someone to rule them twice .now akala is an ogbomosho man abd after he came back from obi innarguration in anambra he said he believed that he can make it ,ladoja contested just to pay back akala in his on coins, ibadan was split but if ladoja hadnt eneterd akala would have used his incumbency power to rake in more votes.the pact that was made on the day of election was what finished akala.the ibadan south west votes wasnt counted or release at the orders of ladoja it was that local goverment that won the game for ajimobi.ladoja only came to spoil akala chances .before the elections akala went to ladoja house up to 3 times trying to reconcile ith him and begging him to support him
nairaland.com/655358/latest-election-result-oyo- state
That was a decoy statement from Akala, if he truly feared Ladoja, he would not voice it in public space, except through actions. I am sure he was happy to have 2 strong ibadan politicians contesting against him rather than one for obvious reasons. In politics, you pray that your main oppositions are polarised, that way you are more strengthened.

In 2011, those who believed Akala had performed poorly needed a new choice, they were faced with a choice of ajimobi (a former senator) OR Ladoja( a former governor). That is not to say PDP did not lose some votes due to Ladojas move to a new party, but the opposition parties were the biggest loser, most especially when the main opposition parties candidate are from the same region.

texaco1: u raised te issue i didnt.and what i am saying is the only way to test a party popularity is through elections.let ajimobi try it.at least edo, ogun and lagos have done theirs.they know that they wont be able to in all.ppl are angry against this gov.NO DOUBT AJIMOBI HAS DONE WELL.but in the process of doing well he has stepped on some many toes and they are just waiting for election time to pay him back
The anger is exaggerated by the opposition politicians. In 2011 guber elections in Ogun state, it was PDP, ACN, and PPN(Gbenga daniel PDP faction).

The noise was PDP+PPN was stronger than ACN, but at the 2012 lg elections, ACN won over 95% of the wards.

tomakint: Going by the antecedents of Ibadan politics, Ajimobi is a goner come 2015! Just my thought anyway .
Antecedents my foot, all these things are just used by the opposition to heat up polity.

Where was antecedents in ondo state, when mimiko was re elected?.

When antecednts meets good governance, antecedents falls yakata for ground.
