It was a gathering of who is who and a time of total reflection of what life truly is as the people of Ekise Quarters, Patani sorrowfully laid to rest one of their illustrious sons. Mr Tamarabebe Freeman Mologe (Msc, fwc, psc, a retired Deputy Comptroller-General of Immigration and later, a staff in the office of the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta/ Coordinator, Amnesty Programme, left many broken hearts with his death at the unripe age of 64. The aged mother who could not believe that her son, whom she described as a great philanthropist is no more. Mr Mologe, before his death had impacted in the lives of many including those he hardly knew. He reached the pinnacle of his Career in Immigration Service before retiring honorably from the Service in 2013. Ever since his retirement, DCG T F Mologe (rtd)had been providing Technical Support Services to the Presidential Amnesty Program, working in the office of the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta/ Coordinator, Amnesty Programme. Op, how factual is this story to you? A man who was coming to Nigeria for the first time to open a bakery came without documents and you helped him to beg at the Immigration desk. Suddenly, he followed you to Uyo and without any form of inquiry about the business he came to set up, he decided to go back to Cameroun and even had to beg you for N5k. And now, the people took counsel among themselves saying, we shall resurrect our lamps and candles but behold, when the EEDC shall arise with bills in the coming season, we shall use spears and arrows to honor them. SACRILEGIOUS Anambra Church Burnt For Wedding Siblings!!! A Church in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State has been set ablaze by some irate youths of Agba village in the area for wedding siblings, Chiadi (25) and his 17 year old sister (name withheld). The authority of the church, ‘Dwelling Fullness of God Church’, Agba, was said to have attracted the wrath of the youths who saw Chiadi’s action as an abomination. A source who pleaded anonymity, told our correspondent that the wedding was conducted by Chiadi’s elder brother, Mr Chijioke Ezeibekwe, a priest of the church. “In an apparent reaction to the unusual wedding, Agba Village youths who saw the marriage as abomination set ablaze the church where the wedlock took place,” the source said. We learnt that Chiadi had supported his actions by citing Deuteronomy 36: 6 of the Holy Bible which he said permitted marriage between brothers and sisters of the same parents. In a sharp reaction, however, a member of the Church, Daniel Ezeobi, was said to have disagreed that the Bible authorised such marriage, describing it as an abomination. “Leviticus 18:9 of the Bible, is clearly against incest. The eldest brother of Chiadi, Emeka, was the person who reported the “incestuous act” to the kindred head, who summoned the family to an emergency meeting and mobilised the youth against the marriage,” he said. Addressing journalists, the father of the “bride and bridegroom”, whose name was given as ‘Luisco’, expressed sadness over the ugly incident, adding that his concern was a way of remedying the situation. “What has happened, has happened”, he simply added. On her part, their mother was said to have claimed that his son’s action was biblical, insisting that her son paid the dowry as required by the tradition. A member of the community who spoke on condition of anonymity described the couple as new converts of the church. He said ‘`Since they were baptized into the church, about two years ago, they have engaged in weird and rebellious behaviour as well as false teachings. “Because of their rebellious attitude and false teachings, we have since ostracised them,” he said. President Muhammadu Buhari Thursday night met with the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors in the Presidential Villa, Abuja and demanded more time to make up his mind on his next move.In the meeting, the APC governors had attempted to persuade the president to throw his hat in the ring and run for a second term in office, but Buhari in his response, said he would address the nation and the party’s caucus on his decision soon.Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Chairman of APC Governors’ Forum and Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha said the meeting discussed various issues affecting the nation, including the state of the APC and the president’s second term bid.According to him, the entire APC governors want the president to run for a second term in office because in their own assessment, he has performed well and it will only be in the interest of Nigeria if he returns to power in 2019.However, Okorocha said the president in his response to the governors’ demand, requested more time to make his decision known to the entire nation, expressing hope that such a decision would be in tandem with the governors’ wish.He said: “We discussed so many issues that affect the nation, our party and Mr. President’s ambition to run for 2019 elections.“It is the desire of the governors that Mr. President should run for this exalted office given his performance in the last two years. We believe that if he continues Nigeria will be better for it.“Anyhow, Mr. President in his usual manner has requested that we give him time and that he will address the nation and the caucus of the party very soon. I wonder if former President GEJ could imagine that only one out of his ex-Ministers could steal such a stupendous amount under his administration without his knowledge. Wonders shall never end! In reference to the CNN report that the former Minister has made a refund of $90B already, how much is Dangote worth? As at today Dangote is worth $14.7B and the 67th in the world while Bill Gates was the 2nd with $ 79.2 on the Forbes list. Diezani is simply a wonder. Old pensioners are dying of hunger daily, Insurgency is consuming lives of innocent Nigerians, workers are no longer getting their salaries as at when due, Government can no longer build infrastructures, road all over the country are in complete bad shape and only one woman got away with this kind of money. Corruption is aperantly the most difficult war to propagate the World over. The reason for this is not far-fetched. They control the economy, the underground, judiciary, legislature, health, education and in fact every known sector. Why ? Because in their very hands is " MONEY ". However, fighting Corruption in our Country Nigeria is a different ball game altogether. Nigerians can go to any lenght to ridicule one's honest efforts just to score cheap political goals. For quite a long while, I have been burdened to write on this but my disability in professional writing has continued to hold me back. I therefore implore you to look at the facts rather than my writing skill because I sure possess none. I REMEMBER; There was a time, the second Niger Bridge was only but a pipe dream for decades, finally when it became a reality with the contractors mobilised, we all called it campaign strategy. I REMEMBER: When BH carved out a Caliphate from some parts of our Country. They even mounted their flag on the Country home of the Nation's Chief of defense staff. Today, BH has been dislodged and we call it propaganda even when normal life has returned to previously deserted villages and towns I REMEMBER: When a greater percentage of government's revenue went into private pockets but now that trillions have been saved through TSA , our concern has turned to "where is the money"? I REMEMBER: When 18 years old girls bought mansions in Abuja as if they were buying loaves of bread. Today, that there are no longer government money being shared in hotel rooms, we are screaming hardship. I REMEMBER: When Thailand that is not as big as Lagos State provided almost every grain of rice eaten in this Country. Today, our farmers are smiling and we are gradually becoming self sufficient in rice production and we call it dieing of hunger. I REMEMBER: When no single capital project was embarked on by any government for over two decades but now that many such projects are underway we call it Campaign projects that will soon be abandoned after elections. I REMEMBER: When we all turned Pastors and Imams, praying for years, for the release of Chibok girls. Finally, when they were released, we called it "Arrangee". Just like the selfless hard work of the military in rescuing the over 170 students recently abducted by BH has been termed arrangee. I REMEMBER: When people made jokes with the Nigeria Railways. No one ever believed that they will ever run again. Today, there are not only functional rail lines but state of the art coaches and we call it brainless. Indeed, I remember so many things that we should today be grateful for including our ever-growing foreign reserve but what do we do but criticize? Of course, there are challenges which includes the herdsmen menace but the question should be, is there a government in place with a genuine determination to profer solutions? A responsible government cannot take everything head on. There must be program for implimentation in phases. I am not a politician but frankly speaking, I think President Buhari despite his initial health challenges, has performed better than any other administration in the last few decades.
