Idaytesj29: Good evening people, I hope you are doing great. There is this pal of mine in the office that we usually discuss getting vehicle on HP to do Uber. For so long, none of us has been lucky. The country hard small, dealers no even reason our matter at all as soon as we mention HP.
But my friend just got a deal, someone who related to him somehow according to what he told me, who sell cars in Osogbo has agreed to give him a Honda Accord 2013 4 cylinders on HP, he has paid the initial 1 million requested and I got to know cos he asked me to sign a guarantors form.
Now, my question is, how suitable is a 2013 Honda Accord for the business?
Mind you he is a Civil Servant that earns around 139k and he said the car will serve him as personal car and for hailing.
He said the man has two of the cars and if I am willing he will put in words for me and I can kickstart process of picking the other.
Please guys, your opinion. Thanks
See the pic of what a 2013 Accord 4 cylinder looks like. Wrong tool for the job if his aim is to repay from what he makes from bolt/uber, One downtime can rake up all his profit hence my reason. Though it could open way of offline for him from better riders that wants class but will it come everyday? He should think it through. |

ibullem: Plan moving to Abuja from lagos, and thrilled about driving my car along with an experienced driver in the next couple of week, say between now and weekend of july10th. I wonder which is the best route to ply now. Will be driving a Kia rio 2019, about a year old. I'd appreciate any advice. I did this trip august last year. Left gwagwalada 7am and I was at berger, Lagos before 6pm. One full tank from gwagwalada to ikorodu, was my first time driving such distance, didn't really know the routes. I picked some people at gwagwalada that helped me with directions coupled with google map. We took the lokoja - okene - owo- akure - ilesa - ibadan - Lagos route though. Drive was smooth with no issues. Car is a Peugeot 406 though. |

donfortune48: E sure me say.. Over 60% of us here, have engine shortening of oil issue.
When I started uber newly, I went for oil change at 2700miles. They checked the dip stick and there was no single oil on it. I double checked and the stick never got to the level of the remaining oil in my car. When they drained the oil, what came out was just about 1 litter of oil. If you drive a camry with the 2az engine, oil shortage is normal. Factory defect things.
I've been topping with 1 litre of oil every 1k miles since then (2019) till now. It have even gotten to 1litre every 800miles. Yet the car doesn't smoke nor have sludge. It fires pretty well. I've traveled to East 4times with the car even with this issue. 2times this year.
The only major problem my car is having is shorting of oil, but if you hear the sound, you would think it's a toks car. Na body go fit tell you say the car don teey for naija.
So mama Raduatoworks, if actually there's a way, you've got a lot of us here seeking for it. If you drive a camry with the 2az engine, oil shortage is normal. Thiis is a result of factory defects in the engine design. |

emmancecute: I have written articles on types/ categories of foreign used tyres so that most people can understand what they are buying. I get many messages bulk of which comes from customers who asks for prices. Most of them think my price is an overkill, afterall is it not tokunbor? Yes, I deal on foreign used tyres aka toks but Sir/ma, this are not your regular toks tyres. If what you want is the regular toks tyres that you might end up changing after 3 months, then maybe you shouldn't bother contacting me. If you're used to getting good quality new tyres and you want something affordable, atleast that won't put a hole in your pocket and will as well give you the value or close to the value you get from the new tyres then this tyres are for you. Reason is because this are the highest grade of toks tyres you can get anywhere in this country. If you're used to buying low quality new tyres that don't really last long and you want a cheaper option that will give you a better value then this is the type of tyres you should get. These are not bundle tyres, Manufacture dates are not falsified, tyres are sold as they come and are carefully selected hence their prices, the only thing I do is to wash if it looks very dirty. I've had to change suppliers multiple times cos as one progress in a particular trade you gather experience which must be used in improving the service being rendered. I have made many sales on this forum and even when I would have loved those customers to drop a review, I can't compel them. I'm sure if they're aren't getting what they payed for, this page would have been littered with negative reviews. I've dealt with many customers in other states who don't even know what I look like, but were happy to deal with him because I believe my customer happiness should be priortised always. My goal is to make prices as affordable as it can get but if it means compromising quality then it is better we don't deal at all as I've learnt cheap and quality does not always go hand in hand. |

radautoworks: davit, let me tell you why some people order ahead. Sometimes it can take up to 20-30 minutes for a driver to arrive and you have no idea before you book what it will be.
E.g. in the US it usually takes 2-7 minutes to get a ride so I usually book about 5 minutes before I think I'll be ready. When I went to Italy, I did the same and had to wait almost 40 minutes past midnight for a ride!! From then, the whole trip I would order 15-30 minutes before I was ready. I suspect that is what is happening. Some people (especially ladies) are anticipating waiting a long time in an undesirable place and taking measures to avoid that. What is he/she doing in an undesirable place in the first place? This thing is not rocket science, whenever a rider request a trio and a driver accept, you as a rider will see the location of driver on your app too. You can track your driver, to know the time he will get to ur pickup. The app offers you a waiting time of 5mins, I can give you additional 5mins, but anything after this gets on my nerve. |

SokizzRaven: It’s raining and there is no surge in Lekki phase 1 , I’d rather stay put than drive through those Lekki lagoons for stipends. Meanwhile make I drop this gist here
Yesterday I started the hustle (I started very late though) with a resolution that no matter how tempting an order to mainland is I wouldn’t take it, in the process and amidst other blacklisted destinations my cancellation rate shoot up to 65%. Then I said to myself I have to stop canceling orders now
Few minutes later a request came in, not far from where I parked. Destination Lekki phase1, pick up Cmart admiralty way.
Just before heading to pick up, I called rider I’m outside already (don’t want her delaying me for long for a ride of #500) she said she’ll join me in a minute. Drove down to pick up, still no sign of rider. 5 minutes later I called again, Rider: I’m checking out now I’ll be with you shortly (I was already fuming but I been no wan spoil my gentleman, so I kept it cool)
10 minutes later I called again Rider: I don’t know why this guy is this slow, but I’m next on the queue, will be out soon 5 minutes later still no sign of rider
A thought of zooming off in anger crossed my mind, but then I thought would she really understand the gravity of what she did if I zoomed off? So I made sure my doors was on lock and waited till this daughter of eve came out
Some minutes later, Saw her through my rare mirror checking out my plate for confirmation, then she proceeded to open the back door but oops! It’s locked Came a little forward to the passenger side window to knock, I looked at her with a smiling face and wind down a bit. These were my exact words to her ‘’Oh! You’re finally out (she said sorry bla bla bla....please your door is locked) you see that wait wey you been no wan wait, you go wait am. You wasted my time but it’s fine (she said but I’ve apologized now) It will just be nice to give you a doze of your own medicine’’ Put my gear in reverse and screed off ( saw her standing with her shopping bags, looking at the car in awe through my side mirror) You just described me. Sometimes I will just drive like 200m away without cancelling. When you come out and ask where I am, I will tell you I'm the car behind. I'll keep you dumbfounded till you finally get the signal. In as much as I don't like keeping my riders waiting, you too shouldn't keep me waiting. Request only when you're ready but they won't hear. Most foreigners are the one waiting for you, they track you on the app and make the job easier. Those umutete girls are even worse, they will request for ride on their to the bathroom and expect you to wait while they're dressing up. Next thing dey jump into the car and all they'll say his oga! Increase your Ac. Nonsense! |

Car Talk › Re: My Peugeot 406 V6 Conversion Project To Performance Brakes by emmancecute(m): 4:26am On Jun 11, 2021 |
Ikenna351: One of the best physical manifestations I ever had and still experiencing. A 21-year old PR V6 powered Stick-shift Lion, with about 250,000-300,000 km mileage with original Engine & Gearbox , running on Total Quartz 9000 5w-40, without oil burn and cylinder compressions still almost factory psi, with only 3 Timing & Auxiliary belts replacements . The Engine is so intact that gear 3 pushes upto 160km/h, effortlessly. This is the same Peugeot model majority of Nigerians condemned as electrical nightmares as they start ageing, yet the lion only have cause to be scanned on average of once in 6 months or once a year, most times. It's been years I recalled opening the fuse box covers, just to blow off dust, if any found.
Don't expect to run 20w-50 oil on a healthy PR engine and expect the Engine to serve you as mine, as old as he is (and that includes every other petrol engines in 406). Even 15w-50 makes these PR Engines very noisy & the VVT solenoids and VTC sprockets to sound like diesel engines. For a long lasting or a healthy PR Engine to stay that way like mine for decades as mileage increases, avoid abusing Lions. Choose otherwise and be ok with the outcome. Or you can go online and blame Peugeot and complain like the rest do.
I love mine dearly.
Lion-King Monk having used 3 different japs from toks, and then switching to a 406 Naija used, I can confidently say the 406 is one of the most reliable vehicle ever produced. Being using mine close a year now, though it had minor abuses as at when I purchased it but I tell I've never had to crank the engine twice. Issues I've had with the car were due to my carelessness and negligence, I use the car for ehailing in Lagos and most riders like it. Spacious, radio steering control, rain sensor, good handling on high speed, cheap parts, moscow standard AC. Also forgot the multumedia displays that shows which of your door is opened, error in system, fuel consumption, distance covered and so much more... what else can you ask for in a car produced in the very early 2000s. My last car was an 09 corolla, I can tell you categorically that the 09 corolla does not come close to it at all. My exterior is kinda rough now with dents and scratches scattered over it but this is a car that responds to touch. A very good body and paint job will bring it sparkling again. Fuel consumption is at par with my corolla or very close. When fuel sold at N125/ltr I bought 5k fuel from Owode onirin, ikorodu road close to mile12 to the quater tank I already had in ny 09 corolla. I drove to Abeokuta with it, did some city drive within Abeokuta say about 50km now with AC, came back to ikorodu, Lagos and fuel had entered reserve as at when I got to ikorodu. Did almost same trip with my 406, bought 5k fuel at #162/ltr inside lekki phase 1 and fuel was at reserve already, went to Abeokuta, came back to ikorodu and then went to ikoyi from ikorodu the next morning. Fuel entered reserve when I got to osborne estate. A Full tank of 406 will take you from Lagos to Abuja, I'm very sure of this of it what I've praticalised while a full tank tank of corolla will take you from Lagos to lokoja, you might have to fill another half tank that will take you to Abuja. Though the 406 thanks is bigger, about 75ltrs while the Corolla is about 60trs. I had to use this illustration so that a layman can easily understand/ compare the fuel consumptions. I make this revelations because prior to having this car, I have had so many horror stories about how bad the peugeot 406 is, and how electrically problematic the car can be but to my surprise, This car as been very reliable considering the fact that I even got it Naija used. I've been battling with my AC since 2 months now though, cos I've not had a competent hand to handle it. I'm sure this issue is not peculiar to peugeot cars alone so no biggy. Get a non abused 406 and enjoy peace of mind. |
