Nigerians are actually very bad at english especially the new generation. Just read articles on Nairaland. A good example is the common use of the word "staffs" instead of "staff"

I have noticed that Ghanaians and south African countries Zambia, Tanzania etc have a better grasp of English than Nigerians. Dont assume when speaking to a young Nigerian that they actually understand what you are saying. Nigerians have a habit of hearing one word and construing another meaning to it. Today Someone was trolling me because he clearly did not understand the meaning of the word "viable".

I can understand loose use of English on the internet and social media (we all do it) but my issue is a lot of Nigerians dont actually understand the meaning or proper use of everyday English words. While we all speak in English it is sometimes difficult to communicate with the typical Nigerian in English. Very often I have to ask my staff to repeat what I just said so I know they understood what I meant. We've also bastardized so many words that very often when you use a word as intended, it is interpreted differently by many Nigerians.

You are talking about something else entirely. The focus here is use of english as a language of communication and not one's repository of vocabularies. Even the English themselves don't know every word in their dictionary.

I know I too have been stuck for like four years after i broke up with my ex but omo, I talked to myself. In fact that was when and why I joined nairaland. Got myself busy with nairaland just to get over him and it worked.

By the time he begged to come see my face one more time, I was the one running. When he eventually came, he just looked like a brother and as I was seeing him off, he said, "babe, so you've really moved on, that all the time we spent, you could sit apart from me for that long"?. I just looked at him and laughed. He was shocked cos I really loved him and showed it while we were together.

After him, I had fallen twice and come out strong and still standing. No shaking. Provided God is blessing me, I don't care!

Great people of this forum, honestly things have never been better ever since that incident and I wish our minds are like show glass so that y'all would see how sorry I am inside of me. I messed up and I'm really sorry.

5 days after I created that post above, My wife traveled with my daughter to her parents house to stay without telling me. Since that incident my wife haven't said a word to me, Not a single word. Sometimes I wonder if she's the same woman I married. I'm frustrated, incoherent and I'm losing my mind.

I've been good to her, I provide 85% for my family while she bring just 15% yet I don't complain, I'm romantic and good looking, since we married I don't keep female friends not to talk of cheating. On Tuesday here, My friend and I traveled to her parents house, they did not even welcome us well, I don't know what she must have told her parents but I explained myself, knelt down and asked for forgiveness.
