40 Boi
Will you Blame Carlotti for the draw?
Me wouldn't. . . . the players just didin't show up. . . blame the coach when his technical ability is
called to question by his changes and selection. . . not when he does the right selection and then the players lack the spirit and drive to achieve results. . . . Lampard went awol and so the likes. . . . . they would wish injured players can play at least to have Essien and Cole back!!

However. . .what is bitterleaf for the Chavs is Bitterleaf soup for the indomitable Mancs and maybe Arsenal!! lol!!

Asha80,

Thinks for coming in when i went on a hiatus. . . . I guess it gives me another perspective to argue from.

KJ
I really don't have so much time to analyse your statements one after the other.
I hate to try to compare Ngige and Obi cos there is a wide gulf in between them in terms of achievement assuming they are compared 34 months apiece. . . . . . . .his motive was very clear. . . .building just roads showed him as trying to buy public sentiments. . . .it was that clear

However, i am not after Ngige here. , i want to diffuse that notion that there something on ground for Obi to work with
I wonder if Roads alone consisted of something enough to start from? What of other sectors? Education, Health, Sanitation, Security?
What of macro-economic indices, developmental economics and the likes. . , i kept telling people that the true colour of Mr. Ngige will be known assuming he won the last elections. . . . . .its not gainsaying that he used that opportunity to launch himself into Political relevance

Having said that, i would appraciate it if u had told me that Ngige, regardless of his motives, initiated and waged the a very critical and important war against the charlatans and renegades that pummelled Anambra State financially. . . .I mean, Xris Uba had an IPO of N10m every month
not to talk of the security votes Mbadinuju gave him and all that?

has anyone actually asked How Uche Ekwunife came about her wealth? this is a story for another day. And like u said, its a clear case of 419ners parading as good people in order to get in power.

Haven said the above, Obi i know started most developmental indices in Anambra. . . . .Anambra was just an enitity with close to zilch going on!!

I will come back at a more relaxed time to pick on your posts one after the others!!!

Happy Wknd!!!

Kobojunkie:
Well, in Nigeria, it is definitely easier to become popular by exhibiting dubious character than by doing the right things. I mean we only need to look at the caliber of leaders we have in that country to know that to be the case. People will readily vote for a 419er just because his name is out there, and for the amount of money he has been able to amass during his many 419 runs than they would a serious member of the populate who has not only dedicated his life to serving his community but also building a solid reputable record as a true leader.

What this actually means is that if we have a collection of 419ners masquerading as contestants, we don't actually have a means to vote none of them? Its a terrible case. . . . .maybe there should be a ballot then for "Vote for no One"!! Abi?

Kobojunkie:
Dude, I hope you know that each individual has his or her own way of measuring achievement. You posted a list of things that IMPRESSED you of Obi, earlier, and to be honest with you, I would not consider a lot of what you have on that list when gauging the achievements of my governor, especially in the year 2010, and considering the allotment and funds available to the same government in the amount of time we are considering.

In as much as i will agree with you to certain level, i also know that there are basic amenities that ought to be there before we being to look for deeper attribute and achievements. . . . .I feel too primary to be mentioning what we have above but Sisi, this is where we are coming from. None of them were on ground and someone had to provide them. . . . like i said earlier, you have to make a foundation before u build. . . Anambra despite being 19years old is still tottering and having its first state of State buiding under Obi. . . if he gets it well, then the future is very bright
I would be one to see serious economic development, harnessing the potentials of the River Niger, Onitsha and Nnewi industrial clusters etc but u have to make the basic stuffs available to make those who will make the economic indices come alive to invest.

But may i ask, what or how would you access a success rate?

Kobojunkie:
Are you sure you can without a doubt conclude that Peter Obi beats Yar adua government hands down? We are talking of  Katsina, a state that produces next to nothing with a next to dirt poor populace, and Anambra, a state that remains center of commerce in the eastern belt earning 10’s of millions more in allotment each year from oil and other resources. Are you sure you assessment is an accurate one?

Anambra is not amongst the States receiving the 13% Oil producing States Derivation fund.
Its IGR is not up to N1bn even though the potential to earn more than N1bn is there. . . .its amongst the lowest states in terms of Federal Allocation 26 out of 36 states. . . . . That said, i would wish we had someone who is familiar with Katsina State to give us some stats.

I can astutely stand up to what i have. The place where the governor has to work on is IGR and he has promised in his inaugural address to improve on it. . . . .i also don't think that the difference in terms of Revenue from whatever source, that the difference between Anambra and Katsina is more than N50-N100m. . . . .that said, what the little he has, i will want to see what he has done. . . the parable of the 10 talents comes to mind with this analysis. How well did he use the little that he was given?

Kobojunkie:
Excellence and Best now RELATIVE terms? I will ask that we desist from such as it is an unfair way to argue on this sort of issues. We are dealing with issues that concern HUMAN beings and last I checked those in the west ARE human beings. I don’t see why one group should aim for less than the other group. After all, would you send your children to a school that is considered only the best by Nigerian standards when you can send them to the best school by WORLD standards for free?

Ask Gbenga Daniels, and he will tell you he has done an excellent job. Ask an Ikedi Ohakim loyalist and he tell he's the best governor in Nigeria and the list goes on? You will ask yourself how he arrived at that. Every human being deserves the BEST. If the foreign standard was left to us, we will be able to then chose. . . . .A time was in Anambra when good roads was a measure of how successful on was as a governor. Ask the Xris Ngige apologists

Kobojunkie:

Onlytruth. . . .U have said it all. . . . . some people are scared!! Scared of their own failures!!

Kobojunkie:
Well, the most popular is not always the best. In fact, majority of the time, that is the case. That Obi got re-elected by the people does not in anyway infer Obi is the BEST GOVERNOR or is an excellent governor. You can see how that would not apply in other cases. Take for instance Yar adua's 2 terms as governor of katsina state. He was re-elected by the people DOES NOT mean he was really an excellent leader/governor. We all know the truth now as we are better able to judge his record during those 8 years. *** Gosh I really have a problem with this man being left to run a state for 8 solid years with next to no reasonable accomplishment in all that time, but then again, it is a nigeria-wide issue*** grin
Lady, the key words in your argument are 'not always'. . . . .we are yet to see If Obama was the best. Surely he was the most popular.
Two things though; What makes a particular candidate Popular?
How do we actually know the best?

Of course its not until s/he serves. . . hence if s/he doesn't serve, their is no way we term him the best.
By this i think i can deviate to some extent to say the most popular can be said to be the best until proven otherwise.
Most certainly by his acts in office will prove whether s/he is or not. . . . .i am still waiting for someone to tell me who was the best candidates in Anambra elections?
Of course if u go by the assertion above, i can say there was no one or that all of them are. . . . .unless the person is an Awolowo, who was the best President Nigeria never had

Again, comparing Obi to Yar'adua?
Pse, Peter Obi beats him hands down with just one term in office.
Yar'adua is a pathetic case of what Northern Oligarchy does to development. . . . . .his quiet and silent disposition helped in hiding him and his failings. . . .most of us didn't know much about him until his failures started manifesting as Nigeria's President.
I can bet you also that over 40% of voters in the 2007 Election didn't know who was Umaru Musa Yar'adua until the election campaigns proper. .
His imposition was one of the numerous sins of Obasanjo against this nation. . . . this guy has set this country back by 10yrs. . .in can't start counting. The most painful to me is the death of our foreign relations and policy. . .seems am drifting!!

Of course i can't say Obi is the 'BEST' or "Excellent" depending on the definition you give it. Its a relative term.
Cos going by western standards and the real definition of that those two words, NO Governor in Nigeria can qualify to be conferred with those Two words. . . . if you think so, lets compare with Ghana and maybe SA!!

That said, i grade Obi on three things, one is his contribution to santising the Political space in Anambra, his financial probity and making government not to look like an all comers affairs. . . . . 80% of Commissioners in Anambra State are not Partisan Politicians.
the Politicians amongst them have all resigned. . .i can't say much about the SAs and PAs. . . .again, a radical approach to development of all sectors of the State. . . . .and then, "By Nigerian standards", being very fair and open in Government business.

Pls anyone who know's, where is Emeka Etiaba? When i look at this guy's body language during and before the elections,
I weep for the Nigerian youth. . . . but i believe its all the same all round. . . .he is a true case of what disloyalty is.

I bet he must be licking his wounds wherever he is now!!

Kobo, i am ready to engage in more arguments over this. . . .as long as its devoid of any rancour!!

In as much as having popular votes doesn't translate to being the best candidate, it goes a very long way to saying a lot.
However, like u have said, i won't add more to this. . . .if u are an Easterner (if believe u are) and u live in Nigeria pls take a trip and return with ur verdict. . . i won't dispute.

Adigun
Do you know how many Ogun indigenes living in lagos because of the situation of Ogun?
Same applies to indigene of Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti and likes?
Are the Anambrarians living in Asaba more than those living in Lagos?
Aside Fashola, i don't think there is any siting Governor in a Yoruba State better than Peter Obi in terms of achievement!!
I stand to be corrected. Come with facts too. . . .I can bet you the Adigun guy have never been to Asaba talkless of Onitsha.
The nearest to Obi is Olusegun Mimiko and he is even yet to prove himself with just a little over 1 year in office.

Segun Oni? (Fayemi will send him packing soon)
Olagunsoye Oyinlola? (Obasanjo's thug?)
Gbenga Daniel? (When he's done commiting murder and destabilising his state Politically, we'll know)
Adebayo Alao Akala? (Grandson abi Godson of Amala Politics, even his Ogbomosho kindred are complaining)
Bukola Saraki? (Something is on ground for him but when he's done being the head of Yar'adua's cabal, then we'll take him seriously)

I hate making arguments along tribal lines and u are pushing me to but i won't.
Regardless, as long as u are not from Lagos state, u are not in any position to criticise the Anambra governor.
If you've lived in Anambra, pls come up with your grouse. . .

If you say my response was not necessary, then i don't know how i woulda convinced you that he's done more than a lot.
At least to convince people to win him elections. . . .as for a new brandof politics. . . .i believe Peter Obi contributed immensely to that.

Without him, the uneven election dates for some states won't be the same.
Sky Blue, this guy stood his ground against the Shenanigans of Andy Uba, Cris Uba and the touts in PDP
Saw out Chekwas Okorie's hypocrisy and the general apathy from the elites and career politicians who felt the Governor was not greasing palms

Remember the 250m saga? I wonder why opponents never used that against him?
Could it be he killed the evidence before it became public or was actually evidence against him?
Nevertheless, the free and fair election election clearly say that he is the best amongst the fellow contestants.

Also, i am not one to follow blindly!!! I don't argue what am not sure of!
As it stands, Peter Obi is the best governor Anambra has had since creation and is the person laying a firm foundation for the state.

Sky Blue:
@Emperoh. Thank you. Very simple. While I agree that all the points you listed might be worthy of recognition to you, the points I put in bold are what I think are worthy of recognition (even if some are quite vague) and everything else just fluff, but thanks for listing. Does this qualify him for "best governor" from the south east? Go and look at what is happening in Enugu. . . . . and the guy there is not even making any noise.

Thank you Sky Blue. . . I lived and grew up in Enugu before coming down to Lagos so i am also a stake holder in Enugu Politics
Albeit Urban politics. . . . . .Now, comparing Anambra to Enugu is like comparing Badagry to Lagos. . . . .U & I know Anambra was created out of Enugu
and as a state, Enugu had the basic developmental amenities being the capital. . . . .Awka was at best, a VILLAGE and in the real sense of the word village.

Those who went to Unizik between 1995 - 1999 will bear witness to this. . . . .there was nothing on ground to show this was a state capital.
Now when u have virtually nothing on ground, no stability and military rule, what do you expect?

Anambra if i must say the truth has seen the worst since after the civil war of what Political instability and power struggle can do to development
Even with its wealth of talents in every aspect has never been brought to bear on its polity. . . .talk of the best brains in Business and Academics
in the South East. . . . . . .what could elicit Chinua Achebe to speak up and scream. . . . . . it was a few clique converting general wealth to to their fiefdom. . . . .the rest is history.

Peter Obi's last 2 years till date was the best measure of peacefulness we have experienced. . . , talk of schools closing for ONE whole year during Mbadinuju's tenure. . . .talk of the Shenanigans of Chris Uba, Chuma Nzeribe and Tony Nwoye in 2005 burning down public facilities in the name of creating a situation for a State of Emergency to be declared in order to oust Chris Ngige. . . .i was in Awka then so i knew what went on. . , u need to witness the shooting and chaos to appreciate what am saying. . . . .and then the Andy and Criz Uba wahala just to capture power in 2007!!

Imagine all these things and then lets compare with Enugu. To your question, Peter is not the best Gov'nor in the South East.
But i think, that he is a very good point to start from. . . . .i also think Obi is not as out spoken as the ordinary Nigerian politician.
I bet you only started hearing so much about his works when election time drew near. . . . . . a proof to this is that most of those here don't know what he's achieved as Governor. Am I wrong?

What am trying to say is this, lets be cautious about those saying Sullivan is the best, let them tell me on what grounds?
Remember, i lived in Enugu and still have my folks there. As such, the person should give me concrete details. . . . . . .cos i will verify.
But i know that as we speak, Anambra State has the highest network of tarred road in the South East. . . . .any state with anything higher should come forth with details. . . . .and i stand to prove this!!!

Nevertheless, obi is still not yet the best in certain aspects of the state development!

Kobojunkie:
I see what you are saying and I will like to add that

a) The elections were fair NOT because Obi made it so, but because the "System" probably did something right this time around

b) If we are doling out congratulations, we should make it clear that INEC is to praise for the "SUCCESS" of the elections and not Obi. We should also
congratulate the losers and the winner in making sure that their areaboys were kept in check all through the process.  grin
. . .Oga mi SIr, no pun intended, but if INEC has created an enabling environment for all candidates and organised and free and fair election,
doesn't that tell that a candidate who emerges victorious is the most popular? I voted in Anambra elections and I KNOW FOR SURE that if Peter Obi had nothing as achievement, HE WILL LOSE. . . it wasn't a politics of propaganda. It was something for all to see

Anambra medical outfits, got aaccrditations for the first time since its creation during Obi's tenure

Massive construction of Road. . . this is his biggest achievement thus far and about the most obvious. . . there major bad roads in anambra at the moment are Federal roads.

Improved funding for academic institutions and continued infrastructural upgrade.

Improvement of SPorting facilities and recreation in Anambra State. . , the first in the history of the state

Construction of Phase 1 and II of Anambra State Secretariat. . . the first since state creation.

Drawing up of a development master plan in conjuction with UN Habitat for Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi

Massive funding thought soft loans for Agricultural Development in Anambra State. . . . . .

Procurement of Laboratory materials and Installation of Computer and IT materials for all State owned Schools in Anambra State
this was done in conjucntion with Galaxy backbone to network all the Secondary Schools in Anambra State.

Computerisation of Anambra State Land information to stall fraudulent activities.

Massive Procurement of Vehicles and Communication equipment for securities outfits in the state.

Restoration of the Awka, Aguate and Amawbia Water scheme.

Construction of Judiciary Service Complex for the State Judiciary.

The above mentioned are the ones i saw with my EYES. . . . . i may not live in Anambra but anytime i go home, i do make to sure to go around to see things for myself. . . . .Peter Obi's development if for all sectors of the state simulteneously.

Give him kudos for standing his ground and restoring this state to Political sanity.
Anyone who has been to Anambra State. . . (i don't mean internet Ninjas) will know for sure what i am talking about.

If you were in Anambra between 1999 to 2005, pls go back and compare back then to what is available now.
This guy is the first person laying a solid foundation for the State's growth. . . .all he has done are not and will not be enough
But bear in mind, Rome was not built in a day. . . . . . . . we must count 1 before 2. . . . . . I can bet my life that all those asking for his achievements cannot boast of haven gone to Awka but rely on mostly what they hear or not to make assessment.
A good example is the guy who highlighted Sullivan Chime as the best in the SE. . .i think he is but i bet you, they haven't been to Enugu
and will ask for his achievement cos they've not read in the papers or internet website. . . . . . . .
that someone is not publicizing what he is doing doesn't mean he isn't working.

If you have been to Anambra State, i challenge to come and say the things u saw were wrong and should be done but not yet done.
I need cogent stuffs and not hear-says. . . . . . .i will be sure to get you pictures when i travel for Easter Holidays

Its not about sitting behind your computers and churn out grammar without corresponding physical visits.

Go to anambra State website for further issues. . . . this is the first time Anambra is developing a working Website. . . . we were that backward!

Again, i insist, those who are asking for Peter Obi's achievements, are u doing so cos u have been to Anambra State or because of what
u read or have not seen on the sites of Internets and likes. Its not about seating in front of your laptop and making jejune posts!!!

Hargo Returns. . . . . . .thisis the best news i have heard in a while. . . .Gosh!!!!

Owen Hargreaves makes Manchester United comeback

Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves finally made his comeback after 18 months out injured, playing for the reserve team on Thursday.

Hargreaves, 29, managed 45 minutes against Burnley reserves, although he was cautions not to over-exert himself.

"It was great today. I'm happy I can be back with an 11 against 11 and a referee," said Hargreaves, who has had surgery for tendinitis in both knees.

"I feel good. It's about managing the injury and trying not to do too much."

Hargreaves, who joined Manchester United in 2007 from Bayern Munich in a £17m deal, has suffered long-term problems with tendinitis and played only three games for his club in 2008.

In a bid to solve the problem, he had knee surgery under the guidance of specialist Dr Richard Steadman in America and returned to United's Carrington training base 12 months later.

And now, after so much time on the sidelines, the England international is eager to force his way back into contention at Old Trafford.

"I missed almost two full seasons with Man United," Hargreaves added on BBC Radio 5 live.

"I came here with high expectations for myself and not to be able to play from 27-years-old to 29 is incredibly disappointing.

"Now I will just train with the team and when the sharpness comes back and I start to feel better then I will consider playing a first-team game but that's up to the manager to decide."

Hargreaves could continue to build on his match sharpness by playing for the reserves again at Burnley in next week's return fixture.

And, despite not playing a first-team game since facing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in September 2008, the former Bayern Munich star is not ruling out a return to the England team in time for the World Cup.

"It's something that is there, how it will materialise I don't know," said Hargreaves.

"I would love to have the opportunity to play again but I think I'll have to see how I progress and just take it day by day.

"If I'm there, I'm there, I'd love to help, but if I'm not, I'm not."

4-4-2 against Liverpool?

Abeg Chamo, this is not Spurs or Wigan that u can do any nonsense over and get away with it.
We must rush these guys like Inter did Chelsea. . . . we can't just afford to drop any more points else the league title will smother out

We have to take our games by the scruff and take all points. . . lets be chased. . . . . its better that way!!

Hmmm. . . . where the heck have i been?
Jeez see info. . . . and tot hink that i have been convinced to try out a Diesel Engine is something else

BTW, Onwan,

Les wiring, Less sensors and likes, those it translate to less effizy?
As in, power windows, memory seats, heated seats and those little powers comforts that come with normal Petrol powered cars?
I am going to think so. . . . or am i wrong if right any explanations for that?

me am not one to buy a car just cos it better on fuel cost on the average and then engine lasts longer.
I need those and very many more in a ride. . . what you gonna say?

Na so

Blame your players not the coach. . . . .injuries didn't help you guys too.
Ashley Cole and Essien woulda made the difference on a day. . . . much as i wanted you guys to win, the players and midfielders
were not on duty last nyte. . . . . needless to say they situ played in Mourinho's hands!!

prepare for next season. . . but pls when buying, mix the power players with some creative players and those with flair.
U guys have struggled against sides with power, pace and grit!!

The EPL might just slip from ur grip if u guys don't watch it. . . . . . buy wise. . . its even man U's to lose at the moment!!
