Mujtahida:
You have chewed the kolanut on the right spot. I am often dazed that politicians in this country frame political discourse on power. "We want power, Power must remain with us, power must return to us, we must remain in power till... "

Ask them power for what? No idea. Power has become a toy in the hands of the kidults called politicians. The idea of power for power sake is a carry over from our military dictatorship laden past. I have never read or heard it in any political discussion by the Americans or British.
Power, if not used for good, serves no purpose.

That is so true re: being a carry-over from military dictatorship past, didn't think of it that way but it makes sense.

All he wanted was to be the President of Nigeria. Dazzol. He got that but had and has nothing to offer. Na to dey cry anti corruption all over the country. The anti corruption war is a big fraud, a mask to hide the visionlessness of this Government.
Exactly.
Well, we all learn everyday.

I voted for him but I am disappointed in him now. Where can we find our own Mandela who will take us beyond the stifling narrowness of ethnic and sectarian politics?
Those are leaders - the likes of Mandela. Posterity will always remember them for good.

It is quite clear now that Buhari has nothing to offer, he was only properly packaged like he was the real deal. His PR folks (Chude and co) did a great job, I give them that, but their actions (which they regret now) have plunged this country into crisis.

wristbangle:
Lol! cool

The recent agitation and unrest is because people are frustrated. No light, electricity, job, etc yet the elites(from all geo-political regions) in the country are whining in wealth with their children graduating from harvard and co.

If all basic amenities, job availability, etc are available, would there be tension in the country?

All our past and present leaders has failed us.
Frustration is at an all-high right now. To be honest, I personally think it's only going to get worse. I just don't see that hope on the horizon. Nigerians are very resilient people but even then there is a breaking point. The wrong ones keep getting into power, sadly. No patriotism or commitment to the country.

national conference decisions, the north said no.Naijas are calling for restructure, the same abokies say no,haba.
are they the only people who have monopoly of stubborness? is Kaduna - lagos train running on their head?
If the North was truly confident that they have what it takes to stand alone and prosper, I'm sure they wouldn't stand in the way of true federalism. As it is, despite all the funding and aid money, the region struggles on basic indices compared to the rest of the country. That says a lot.

I belong to no one and I belong to everyone. Hahahaha hahahaha. Thank you speech writer, that was a gem. But inside Buhari's heart nko?
That line actually fooled many people. I remember the excitement here with people thinking a new change had come. Reality has shown otherwise, just take a look at the SSS recruitment 56 from Katsina alone while the entire South had less than 10. Same trend with other appointments too.

Belong to everybody indeed.

Human lives have no value in Nigeria in any case. There have been scores of threads on police and army brutality, yet nothing changes.

What a country. Smh.

This is a new improved wristbangle we're seeing these days, lol tongue

Everyone should seek the path of peace but that path starts with fairness and justice, which seems never to be the case in Nigeria. Enough is enough. So-called elites who don't want progress can't continue to hold an entire nation down. It's one thing to be power-hungry but use it for development, it's another thing entirely when it's used to stagnate and retrogress.

No Nigerian university?

Big shame on this country. Meanwhile, we are the most populous in the continent. Nigerians (both politicians and regular citizens) will rather school abroad than develop their own unis.

How can Northerners be controlling / owning oil blocs? If the tables were reversed, would the North ever allow a non-Northerner to own their key resources? Never.

Ideally, individuals should not be owning key resources like blocs, but this is Nigeria where things are upside down.

lol the Hausa's do not detest or forget their mother land and leave to go and settle in another mans land..its like not having faith in your motherland so much that you want to go and even migrate to live in another mans land and become their slave.

How many Britons, Americans,or any foreigner do u see coming to settle or even to contest here?

If these Nigerians tell u the daily insults they get in terms of racism,u will b amazed
Why should a Briton or American come to settle in a country where even the president has to travel overseas for medical needs?

These people on the list simply have what it takes to compete on a global level, they have been educated and equipped to stand shoulder to shoulder with any Brit or American, it has nothing to do with detesting their motherland. Let's not get it twisted.

That's why the North will remain backward in all angle. Prof. Ango Abdullahi who couldn't allow any single developmental project in Ahmadu Bello University during his tenure as V.C . This man will never change, sadist to the core. So this sadist is saying that before the oil exploration in South-South the Yoruba's were relying on the North for resources and development. I wonder if it were the North that was exporting Cocoa to African countries and Europe back then
So this kind of person was once the VC of a whole ABU?! shocked wahala dey

Exactly. Very ridiculous thread. These people being referenced have built successful lives outside Nigeria, but rather than face this hellhole and take action on how to move it forward from its current state of stagnancy, folks are bragging over other people's achievements.

PoliticsRe: Mohammed Abubakar Stops His Convoy To Hear Protesting Farmers (Photos) by ephi321(f): 1:00pm On Jun 09, 2017
The gov probably eats imported rice in his home.

No farmers, No nation. They are right on that, but it's not simply banning importation that will lead to creating a better environment for local farmers to thrive. They need to thrive and produce enough for local production first before the product can be outrightly banned.

Nigeria is on the brink and we don't even know it.... A lot of countries are already putting in place long term plans for alternative energy. In the next decade or two, we will wake up one day and realize we have a product to sell which no one needs any longer.

fair enough ...thats your interpretation
UK politics doesn't need Nigeria's input but it needs Nigerians input
yes it is, I am open towards a different interpretation but his historical posts do not help him in any way.

UK Politics doesn't need Nigeria or Nigerians' inputs in any way. We have absolutely nothing to offer basically. Britain and the West can influence Nigerian politics but never ever the case vice versa.

Most of these people of Nigerian origin who are in politics there are already British citizens, so they are considered Brits and not Nigerians.

The guy didn't really make any derogatory statement about Chinenye 'chi' . Can you please enlighten us how he's bringing her down.
Let's not bring our local division into UK's politics, please
UK politics does not even need Nigerians' inputs in any way, so that statement is irrelevant.

As to your question, he was trying to undermine Chi by not even acknowledging her achievement but rather going ahead to mention someone else who has done the same thing -- in other words trying to emphasize there is nothing new in what she achieved.

So what exactly is this government's priority? Seeing as they have practically struggled with every core aspect of governance - economy in shambles, poverty climbing, diversification zero, standard of living falling.

Can Mr Lai please clarify the focus of this govt?!
