Procashtips: 80%?
How did you arrive at this?
I'm only using your own logic
You said people can decide not to drive during winter, then I also said people can decide not to drive on pothole infested roads too.
Does it mean you also don't drive for making such statement?
What's the reason for this discussion?
Death by road happens everywhere in the world, the difference is in numbers. Nop People can decide or Road can be closed during winter as there are other options to get to where you need to be ie work and same or lesser cost thant cars on the road,, if one needs to drive from Benin city to Ekpoma, apart from the roads what other choices has such person got? by the way this road is full of death traps. The question of if I drive is answered on nairaland, you do not need to go far, go fru the 1st page of my post on nairaland will answer your qustion pronto!.The fact is this,in the West Road accidents are unavoidable but in 9ja road accident are Avoidable. |

IbeOkehie: There's homeless people everywhere. There's middle class comfort everywhere. Good and bad healthcare happens everywhere.
For the person citing startup millionaires, that happens everywhere too.
There's racism everywhere. There's family breakdown everywhere. There's crime everywhere Unemployment happens everywhere.
The issue, the BASIC ISSUE, is preponderance and PROBABILITY. Anyone who can't grasp the logic is uneducated in the real sense of it.
Everyone knows that there's a higher probability of the negatives in Nigeria than in any Anglo-Western nation. That's why migration is a hot topic on Nairaland and those who can't migrate are consumed with rage and jealousy. DO we have racism in Ghana and Nigeria?
If that one doesn't make sense, go and search for Jakpa topics on Nairaland as far back as 2003 or 2007. Find out for yourself the if Nigeria is better or worse since then. My people say if no one gives you advice, advise yourself.
Good Luck to Nigerians. |

Procashtips: But potholes aren't on all roads too na?
You can also decide not to ply the roads with potholes if you can stay home during snow. On our Highways? in 9ja? 80% of our highways have Crater not even pot holes. Talking deciding not to ply the plot holes, I assume you do not drive hence you are saying this cos if you do you will agree with me that is ridiculous. |

Procashtips: Not oblivion to these things, just saying death by accident is everywhere.
Our own hotholes is their own slippery roads caused by snow. Snow on the road kills alot too
Overspeeding kills alot of people there too caused by good roads lol. Comparing Snow with potholes is a joke you know why? Snow has seasons but Potholes do not.As a matter of fact, if it snows you stay at home but with potholes you cant stay at home, so I recon you look for smthng else to compare it with!. Have you driven from Lagos to PH B4? well I have and every time I visit 9ja I have to drive from PH to Warri to see the parents. Its a very nervous drive and that road claims something all the time from my car. |

222Martins: All i see is greed on the side of the property owner and developer. How can you construct a 4-storey building in such a tight space with no ample surrounding space? In retrospect, politics of bitterness is the reason why politicians don't make/keep majority of investments in their home state and the country at large. Thereby depriving locals the job/business opportunities that will be created from such investments.
And whether you like it or not, the political class are part of the richest class of the society; even before they ventured into politics. You can never be a notable figure in politics without your own money or the sponsorship of a Godfather/politician with money. Did you read the full write up of the Engineer? |

Bross they do no doubt but those pot hole that kill people like fowl in Nigeria ie the east west road, I fell into one last year I was in Nigeria, my car has a 22 inch rim, it split half across, the God that saved me was that my car was a 3tone car so it was heavy, if it was a camry God knows. rickleye: Simple answer is yes. What you want to do when you move abroad is get a property. So rent for first one year to get a bearing of where you want to live. After that then look for a property to buy be in a duplex. Stay upstairs and rent the lower duplex . So for example. I know someone who bought a 400,000 house and placed a 10% down payment . So technically he was paying mortgage on $360,000 for 25 years at 2.5% interest. So about $1600/month. The tenant was paying $800 so he contributed the balance. He did a $500 contribution 2ce a year which went directly to principal. In about 5 years the value of the house increased ( appreciated ) to 470k . The amount owed lowered to $350k . Now technically he can only access 80% of 470k which leaves less mortgage with $25k in another 5 years - the property value will increase and payments lowered etc. 2 years financial history is not enough to secure a mortgage, you need at least three to 5 years unless you have initial capital |

chiself: I will find an alternative .It is too much but kids who attend such tuition end up going to the best universities that is why there is a waiting list.
I am also considering boarding schools in Nigeria because kids are not as ambitious. In Nigeria you see black doctors, lawyers, engineer and they are good role models. In the western world successful black people are sport stars or rappers. The TV are full of negative images of black people. It is not a very nice place and it become worst lately as the Japa people are now here working day and night, having no time for their children. Some of them are joining gangs.
There is no discipline and that is a big problem. I had a naija friend who was a teacher and was telling me the naija kids are the worst because they are now able to do the things they can't do in Nigeria. This was the simple reason I took all my kids back to Nigeria in 2018 |

43Ronin: do the maths bro, 1 not-so-technical job will pay at least 90-100k (e.g scrum master). that 100k will cater for all your expenses even with dependants. The second job of 100k is purely savings. Nigerians in IT abroad are making money but keeping quiet especially with the ways niggers talk anyhow on socials. men are making funds bro. I know a friend of mine who works for HMPS, his basic salary is £35k but with over time he earns up to £70k b4 tax |

Well said thank you, My friend you got the gist, this was what I was trying to say someone took offence and said they don't beg like me.People abroad budget thier money and you back home in Nigeria is not in that budget, so anyone asking is placing burden on them, Now knowing what I know now not everyone in Nigeria who ask for money are actually broke, some jst want xtra aka free money. |

chiself: I received this email regarding tuition for my children:
We are currently fully booked but will have space in January. Our fees are £55 per hour. If you'd like to be added to the waiting list, please let me know
So English, Maths and is £165 per week. £660 per month per child!
I am sure it doesn't cost this much in Nigeria, even if it is a third of the above quote. Of course I can't afford the above but I want tuition for my kids because school is not enough and I want the best for my children. If you could afford it, I would advise you to pay, this will be the difference btw the well to do kids and the not so well to do. Since us as parents(Black) are meant to try tripple times than the average English man to prove ourselves. Now on the flip side, there are good boarding schools in Nigeria for kids if you want to think outta the box |

ogbonti: you are not making sense at all - I am sorry to say- IF indeed you are making 7 figures remotely working in Nigeria - why d you wan to Japa?
What exactly are you escaping from ? you think abroad is bed of roses ? you better seat your butt down and keep buying lands and
properties from those fo ols selling their lands and properties to travel to the world of unknown (japa) only to realize they have been sold
a dream. While you are planning to japa, an army of Chinese and Lebanese youths are moving into your country to take over
WHEN you and those who "blindly" japa - return in 10- 20 years from now, you will hardly recognize your country as it will be
RECOLONIZED by new "economic" - IMPERIALISTs - whom you japa-ed and left the country for. INSTEAD of you to make money in
Nigeria, train other youths too to make money remotely in Nigeria - and travel overseas for vacations and live the best life ever in the
Land of your birth - you are joining those heading for "modern slavery and racist subjugation" all in the name of "I live abroad" - hmmm
I have lived almost 30 years in America - IF I am in your position right now 30 years ago, with what you earn, and knowing what I know
today about the western world 30 years ago, I will not japa... God sees my heart I am speaking the truth, and not to deceive you...
The grass they say - is always greener on the other side - ---- who no go, no know -- IT IS WELL Simply put Op does not know what 7figures means or he is just high on some cheap shyte |
