Religion / Re: When Blessings Are Outsourced From One Generation To The Next by esere826: 1:40pm On Dec 15, 2014
The rise of mega pastors

As the economic pressures of SAP bit
A number of our parents gradually moved away from the orthodox christianity of their days whose emphasis was not on money but on suffering

They began to embrace this new type of charismatic christianity which promised them heaven here on earth
at first, it started with a caveat of the need for our parents to serve God more in order to access these blessings
'Serving God more" essentially meant helping the church leaders build well structured and large churches
Our parents generation were very happy to do this because it involved actually spending their time working for the church and envangelizing

Soon, the Charismatic pastors began to push further.
They saw biblical revelations that pointed to the need for our parents to give in order to get wealthy and escape the poverty happily dished out by military dictators
These pastors brought folks to the pulpits who gave testimonies that tied their giving to their stumbling on money
None was brought to testify on how they gave but did not receive

Our parents generation grudgingly but surely began to losen the grip on their purses
and in the proces birthed the first wave of wealthy preachers
In the instances where members cried out that it did not work, the pastors tagged them as 'lacking faith' in receiving despite 'having faith in giving'
umhhhhh

From father to son

It is often said that the children of very religious folks end up less religious than their parents
Have you ever wondered why?

Those of us who first opened our eyes from the oblivion of mothers womb to meet the starring and smiling faces of xtian believers
as they rained on us thousands of blessings would understand why we are a breed that tends to be less religious.

no one has the right to hit the other
whether na man or woman

sit her down now before the next incident ever occurs and firmly tell her that if this happens again it would be taken seriously
if it does occur again, record the event and show it to her family,... not yours yet.
Calmly tell her family to call her to order

if it progresses further, report her to your pastors wife
If after that it occurs yet again
then learn to lock her up in a room, instead of yourself and start working on a process for separation from her or sleeping out

Sleeping out will get to her seriously

You really need to stop attending night school and do some home reading, when does sham marriage becomes legally binding marriage? Which system legalized it? A marriage was deemed illegal by UK law and you are here writing pages of theories.

Put on you thinking hat dude, and let go of the emotions ok

A marriage is entered into some records.
That record has to be expunged for you to be considered not married.

The question remains.
Has the records been expunged?
Has it been re-recorded as never happened, or ceased from happening forthwith?

The next line of reasoning becomes what view do other sovereigns have of this marriage record or 'illegality'.

This is the kind of gap that the OP should explore

As for your inference on night schools..
what does that have to do with the topic? Does it make you feel good throwing such around?

Stick to the reason for the thread please...ok

Read well before you give people wrong adverse, sham marriage is illegal and its a crime.

I am not a lawyer, and neither are you I suspect.

My argument is premised on this logic:
1) two people enter into a legal binding marriage contract >> 2)The system determines that this marriage was intended to get unfair access to the goodies of the system>> 3) the system goes ahead to block the privileges that could be got from this marriage contract.

Question/Idea 1)
Although the system has activated logic 2 and 3, was the marriage at Logic 1 annulled, i.e deemed to have never existed in the eyes of EU law or has there been a legal divorce?

If it is still legally deemed that they are married then it comes with some universal privileges whether na sham or not. Depending on the region, such privileges can be switched on. Look at the article on sham marriage and you would see how tricky it is. I doubt if anyone as actually challenged it. Maybe because rich folks who can challenge it don't need to follow that route.
Some old men get married to young ladies so that they can have carers. While the young ladies are after inheritance.

Question/Idea 2)
The OP was told to sign a document.
He does not say that he was taking before a court of law. It is possible that in the document, he decided to wave some privileges that the marriage would have got him in exchange for some soft landing.
So what would make sense is to review what soft landings were granted him. Not all data is shared even within the UK just like that.

Idea 3)
I narrated a case were someone was banned from travelling to the UK for 10 years for what the UK deemed as a crime -falsification of document
I'm not praising the person for doing this. However the person travelled to the US recently and might be relocating to Canada soon
I am aware that the person wasn't quick to write a narrative to the US embassy of how she was banned from travelling to the UK

What suggestions do you have to share? Do you rather we stone him to death

@Ikebesupa

I am aware of a lady who while in nigeria was banned for 10yrs from travelling to the uk
her boyfriend who was then in the UK had to relocate back to nigeria
they are now married, and she recently travelled to the US for a visit without any issues

my bad advice to you is for you to gradually and carefully test the waters
you probably were not deported in the real sense of the word, neither were you convicted
so, i see no reason why you should offer more information than neccessary
also, you are still legally married to that lady if i am not mistaken (i only read the 1st page of your thread)
try to confirm this from the authorities

you probably should try travelling to her country as a first step

Lesson's Learnt

Till date, I hear that driver's voice warning me.
Sometimes when I try to do good or a fulfil a christian virtue, I spend some fraction of time thinking of who my 'good' could possibly hurt

What about you?
1) You dey plan to carry belle for that man wen say im never ready to marry or born pikin.
...You hurting an unborn child and the daddy

2) You say you want to glorify God, and happily paste unverified videos of healing on youtube which suggests that HIV comes from not paying first fruit offerings and that one become HIV-proof when he pays such offerings.
...You end up hurting ignorant folks who are deceived to think that paying tithes and offerings is the new condom

3) You don't want your wife to 'suffer'. So you persuade her not to work. And now there you are unable to take care of her and the kids.
...You're doing great damage to your kid's confidence amongst their peers

4) You are upset that GEJ a southerner usurped your rotation agreement. So you started a fire in your own house that you and Jonathan cannot now quench
...You're doing a great damage to your youths that might last for many generations to come

5) You give your kids everything they ask for and restrain from disciplining them.
....you're hurting their ability to survive in the real world when they come of age

6) To safeguard your president from ariel attacks in the airport. You ensure that 10's of planes are hovering around not granted permission to land.
...You're putting the lives of 100's at risk

Milk of human kindness

My music box was booming loud, and my smile was as etched on my face as that of the Joker in Batman movie
As I dey blow dey go,
I saw a car afar of trafficating its intention to enter the express road from the feeder road where it was

...Now, read this carefully

On the one hand, I felt like doing the normal blocking the car from entry unto my path on the express
on the other hand, I felt like being a kind xtian. The kindness took control
So I slowed down almost to a complete halt to let the car come unto the express.

The driver of the car got unto the express and waved to me gratefully as he sped off.
I waved back thinking how I had done a good deed

Within seconds of this event, a car behind me horned noisily indicating that it wanted to overtake
Still in a good mood I gave way for the car to overtake me.
When the driver pulled close to me so that I could see his face just acrross me
He shouted out to me but in a very kind and understanding tone:

"Dem no dey do kindness 'brake' for express road"

He continued past me.

He's statement confused me for a long while

Although my dad had warned me not to ever drive on the Express abi na High way road
I soon found it irresistible to avoid it especially as I could cut out a lot of traffic in the inner city road fi I use the Express

On this particular day, I carefully inched past my dad's office area
which was located in the inner city, but close to the express.
glancing at all side mirrors to check that I had not been spotted by any of his overzealous staff
I soon navigated unto the express and started my journey

I was watching the other day some behavior among Hindus who are a part of what’s called the Kundalini cult, the Kundalini cult. They have certain body movements that appear to be perhaps best explained by demon possession. And they’re the absolutely identical body movements to people in the charismatic movement in the extreme behaviors that we see in so-called revivals. This is paganism. This is the work of Satan. This is the work of the kingdom of darkness, and it is not to be attributed to the Holy Spirit.

Here, you have an enlightened man in charge of MURIC who might have possibly been a part of the "we-don't-care-about religion-in-Yoruba-land" crew throw away his senses and start seeing religious stars in a naira note.

He then goes ahead to scream out his ignorance, knowing full well that on Friday, some uneducated Muslim street urchins and mishevious clerics up in the core North could decide to pour out into the streets and roast some poor southerners (both muslim and xtian) alive all because of this ignorant man gone rampage.

nice news.
however, this is to be expected
I'm sure that almost all state capitals have the highest IGR's amongst the cities in their states.

Where I think that Lagos stands out is that it is one of the few states in Nigeria that is quite welcoming to all ethnic groups.
Maybe because it has outgrown such naked ethnic narrowness

There are some cities in Nigeria that lazy indigenous youths daily lay siege at the gates of companies demanding tributes.
I know of an incident in one of such cities were my friend got a job, and the youths told the company that the job should not be given to him.

In the words of the rascals when ushering the young man out of the oil servicing company's work premises
"Na our farm be this. Una don spoil una own farm, u wan come chop for here. Gerrat!!!"

I thought the bible said we should avoid heaping of empty phrases or repeatition of words when praying? Isnt him repeating words all this while?..few times i even tried to kneel and pray for 30mins,i couldnt except when am in church and the prayer section began,u cant watch while others pray,u gats to force ursef to prolong ur prayer..my question is,what are the benefits of praying for hours and how can one develop that attitude without repeatin words

I spend long hours everyday even after work, researching on topics in my career field. Slowly but surely, I'm becoming an authority in my field.

I think, the same would apply to folks who spend long hours in churchy things. Yes. even if they repeat same words, they might soon be expert kramers of the entire bible
Religion / Re: What Does It Mean To Be Born Of Water And Of The Spirit? John 3:5. by esere826: 11:38am On Nov 23, 2014

1 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. -John3:1-6.

what does it mean to be born of water and the spirit from verse 5 above?

what does being born mean?
it means to be pushed down or out from inside the body of a female, and thus bearing the xteristics and reaction to the environment of the creature that birthed you.

There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
Here, Jesus says "Ahhh, Nicho, you seeing and acknowledged what I am doing is interesting. Folks whose minds have not been renewed ( born again) cannot see it."

4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Jesus replies "Nicho, ....this question wen u ask me tells me something about the rebirth you have had so far. You dey try, but u still have some more rebirthing to go. You know the 3 states of matter, solid, liquid then gas. animals that live on land give birth to land animals. These animals behave like land animals too and cannot fly. Animals that survive in the air give birth to animals that can survive in the air.

Nicho,... you have seen the kingdom, but you need to continue the rebirth process so that you reach a stage that you can fly like the wind/spirit and get into the kingdom
Religion / Re: Why Did Jesus Walk On Water, And What Was The Significance Of It? by esere826: 10:23pm On Nov 14, 2014
OLAADEGBU:
Why did Jesus walk on water, and what was the significance of it?

There are 2 questions here, having different answers.
1) Why did he walk on water?
2) What was the significance?

For question 2, you can have a multitude of significance depending on how you are ministered to. For example you can draw a significance of "this was to show his disciples that they can do loads of stuff if they have faith".

For question 1,
the answer was simply because he needed to reach a destination, and nothing was going to stop him. If it meant swimming, flying, vanishing, borrowing someone else's boat etc it didn't matter. However the first logical thing that came to mind when he saw the boat at a distance and felt the cool evening wind of the sea against his cheeks was to take a gentle stroll to it while spending time in his thoughts.

The next question that ties into this becomes "HOW was he able to do this"?
Discounting him being God -were it is said that God can do anything, and thinking about Jesus as a human only, this is how:

Take note of the sequence of events

He just heard about the death of John
he was downcast and wanted to seclude himself
The crowd wanted him
he had to push himself up to minister to them
the disciples wanted the crowd to go away
he resisted the disciples and split fish and bread into multiple wholes
at the end of this he realised/understood that these guys/crowd he was was pouring his heart to
could easily turn on him and treat him like John was treated

he then goes up to the mountain with his mixed emotions to pray
in prayer, he acknowledges that no matter the dissapointment he could face by those he's now pouring his heart to
he has to do what he has to do to get to his life's destination.
At this point, power/anointing/determination to move on despite challenges is boiling up in him
he look and sees the boat afar
this is a challenge that is no challenge... he needs to get to the other side
the power to achieve a bigger goal despite any obstacle is pushing him
and so he starts walking
the wind and waters not withstanding

Im aware of this problem and have prayed about it for 2 years or so but this problem persists.

You are being told that in your life you will have friendship that sticks closer than that of your family no matter how hard you try to push the friendship of christ away.

Last night I had enough of it as i dreamt that i was preparing for WAEC. Me that have passed out from university over 3 years ago.
you are being told that just like you passed waec, when challenges and open doors come your way, you'll pass through with good success.

another dream i had my legs my tied with cables and i couldn;t climb up just one stairs. I was standing with someone and she didnt even render any assistance to me. then when i start walking down the street, my aunty's husband( a pastor) was just looking at my legs as if he was surprised that im walking.

You are being told that even in your weakest moments, people will look at you in awe as being strong

I agree and believe APC will try to avoid a muslim-muslim ticket.
But if you don't mind me educating you. The article you posted does not say so.
What it says is that APC's goal is NOT to look for a muslim-muslim ticket.

For example:
"john says he's not looking for a cook, but for a wife".
This does not mean that John will reject a wife who is a cook.

that is what we call verbal reasoning

What if Buhari dies while in power

I have just now read that the Zambian president has just died in office. He was aged 77 years.
Buhari is currently in his 70's.

Yes, anybody can die at any time. Even someone in the prime of his youth.
But we know for sure that the death/mortality rate steeply increases as one passes the 60 year age bracket
In fact I doubt that is are a sizeable numberof Nigerian 90 years olds alive who have their real birth cirtificate
-not permutations based on markets days and sighting of the moon.

So let's say Buhari dies of old age while in power
automatically, Tinubu or his son Fashola takes over power
Of course the Core north will get upset again, accusing the South of conspiracies
Tinubu or Fashola would then have to pick a Muslim Northerner vice president -definitely not a christian one.
There won't be any smart talks that religion does not matter

And let me tell you what will then happen
The Muslim core North will band up with the muslim/xtian Middlebelt and the xtian SS and SE to produce a Muslim-xtian ticket.
Once more in the history of Nigeria, the South west will be pushed back into opposition

Does religion really matter in Nigeria? ..your guess is a good as mine

So let's imagine that Buhari does win

my major worry is that APC leadership in their grab at power have probably not thought out all the potential scenaroios that could be at play
In fact, I'm yet to read media commentaries on some worrisome scenarios.
Perhaps someone like Tinubu has thought about the particular scenario I have in mind and has decided to keep it close to his chest.
Maybe that is why he is trying to push for Fashola or himself to be the vice president despite the muslim-muslim question mark.
the scenario that I am presently afixed with is this:

Muslim-Muslim ticket ? ..uhnnn

I've heard of some interesting talk about fielding a muslim-muslim candidate
and associated proselytization about looking for the best whether christian or muslim
(interestingly the 'objective minded' proponents of this matching don't tell us that they don't care if aethists, gays and traditional worshippers rule over us)
I intend to write about this delicate mis-balance later on, but now let me concentrate on the topic at hand.

I do have a weak spot for Buhari's corruption credential
I also think that Jonathan is great in his developmental strides.
However, we really need someone that can slow down corruption not play guitar while Nigeria burns
Unfortunately jonathan despite his other unique qualities is not able to offer this.
Politics / Scenario Analysis: What If Buhari Dies As President Of Nigeria by esere826: 3:14pm On Oct 31, 2014
Let's talk about General Buhari

All seems set for Buhari to clinch the APC presidential ticket
If he does get the ticket, Will he win the presidential election?

Well, he's not competing against a do-or-die opponent like Obasanjo
so he stands a chance (maybe 50/50 chance) if well managed by his goons.
