OLAADEGBU:There are 2 questions here, having different answers. 1) Why did he walk on water? 2) What was the significance? For question 2, you can have a multitude of significance depending on how you are ministered to. For example you can draw a significance of "this was to show his disciples that they can do loads of stuff if they have faith". For question 1, the answer was simply because he needed to reach a destination, and nothing was going to stop him. If it meant swimming, flying, vanishing, borrowing someone else's boat etc it didn't matter. However the first logical thing that came to mind when he saw the boat at a distance and felt the cool evening wind of the sea against his cheeks was to take a gentle stroll to it while spending time in his thoughts. The next question that ties into this becomes "HOW was he able to do this"? Discounting him being God -were it is said that God can do anything, and thinking about Jesus as a human only, this is how: Take note of the sequence of events He just heard about the death of John he was downcast and wanted to seclude himself The crowd wanted him he had to push himself up to minister to them the disciples wanted the crowd to go away he resisted the disciples and split fish and bread into multiple wholes at the end of this he realised/understood that these guys/crowd he was was pouring his heart to could easily turn on him and treat him like John was treated he then goes up to the mountain with his mixed emotions to pray in prayer, he acknowledges that no matter the dissapointment he could face by those he's now pouring his heart to he has to do what he has to do to get to his life's destination. At this point, power/anointing/determination to move on despite challenges is boiling up in him he look and sees the boat afar this is a challenge that is no challenge... he needs to get to the other side the power to achieve a bigger goal despite any obstacle is pushing him and so he starts walking the wind and waters not withstanding |
una well done o So if Joagbaje and his crew were so honestly sure that they had performed a miracle on the Jeff fellow and rather unfortunately, this turned out to be untrue or a misrepresentation ...despite all the razzmatazz of anointing and spiritual confirmation ... how sure are we that the whole bring money to God through the pastor pre-law thing is not also an honest misrepresentation a misrepresentation that would undoubtedly enrich the pastors but might not do same for the followers despite all the slaying of the spirit thingy? You all (both camps) will do yourselves a lot of good to take time off once in a while and ask "what if i am a little bit wrong?" |
Lets put the right spin to this Lovethlovesmike:You are being told that in your life you will have friendship that sticks closer than that of your family no matter how hard you try to push the friendship of christ away. Last night I had enough of it as i dreamt that i was preparing for WAEC. Me that have passed out from university over 3 years ago.you are being told that just like you passed waec, when challenges and open doors come your way, you'll pass through with good success. another dream i had my legs my tied with cables and i couldn;t climb up just one stairs. I was standing with someone and she didnt even render any assistance to me. then when i start walking down the street, my aunty's husband( a pastor) was just looking at my legs as if he was surprised that im walking. You are being told that even in your weakest moments, people will look at you in awe as being strong ..hope that helps |
bad English used in the OP's article naaaaaaa this is certainly not from Prof Wole |
this video is strange the guys face is not clear however, his mannerism is same as the Shekau that the military say that they have killed However, I've seen followers of pastors adopt their mannerism too so there is still a possibility that this is a different Shekau (the 3rd) from the one the military say that they killed (the 2nd) |
Idrismusty97:My write up is what is called scenario analysis. It is as likely as it is unlikely, but not impossible We Are Not Planning To Field A Muslim-MuslimI agree and believe APC will try to avoid a muslim-muslim ticket. But if you don't mind me educating you. The article you posted does not say so. What it says is that APC's goal is NOT to look for a muslim-muslim ticket. For example: "john says he's not looking for a cook, but for a wife". This does not mean that John will reject a wife who is a cook. that is what we call verbal reasoning ...got it? |
baccaspace:daft superstitious crazed dude f^k off if u like no write will. pity... ..cheers |
What if Buhari dies while in power I have just now read that the Zambian president has just died in office. He was aged 77 years. Buhari is currently in his 70's. Yes, anybody can die at any time. Even someone in the prime of his youth. But we know for sure that the death/mortality rate steeply increases as one passes the 60 year age bracket In fact I doubt that is are a sizeable numberof Nigerian 90 years olds alive who have their real birth cirtificate -not permutations based on markets days and sighting of the moon. So let's say Buhari dies of old age while in power automatically, Tinubu or his son Fashola takes over power Of course the Core north will get upset again, accusing the South of conspiracies Tinubu or Fashola would then have to pick a Muslim Northerner vice president -definitely not a christian one. There won't be any smart talks that religion does not matter And let me tell you what will then happen The Muslim core North will band up with the muslim/xtian Middlebelt and the xtian SS and SE to produce a Muslim-xtian ticket. Once more in the history of Nigeria, the South west will be pushed back into opposition Does religion really matter in Nigeria? ..your guess is a good as mine |
So let's imagine that Buhari does win my major worry is that APC leadership in their grab at power have probably not thought out all the potential scenaroios that could be at play In fact, I'm yet to read media commentaries on some worrisome scenarios. Perhaps someone like Tinubu has thought about the particular scenario I have in mind and has decided to keep it close to his chest. Maybe that is why he is trying to push for Fashola or himself to be the vice president despite the muslim-muslim question mark. the scenario that I am presently afixed with is this: |
Muslim-Muslim ticket ? ..uhnnn I've heard of some interesting talk about fielding a muslim-muslim candidate and associated proselytization about looking for the best whether christian or muslim (interestingly the 'objective minded' proponents of this matching don't tell us that they don't care if aethists, gays and traditional worshippers rule over us) I intend to write about this delicate mis-balance later on, but now let me concentrate on the topic at hand. I do have a weak spot for Buhari's corruption credential I also think that Jonathan is great in his developmental strides. However, we really need someone that can slow down corruption not play guitar while Nigeria burns Unfortunately jonathan despite his other unique qualities is not able to offer this. |
Let's talk about General Buhari All seems set for Buhari to clinch the APC presidential ticket If he does get the ticket, Will he win the presidential election? Well, he's not competing against a do-or-die opponent like Obasanjo so he stands a chance (maybe 50/50 chance) if well managed by his goons. |
OLAADEGBU:good kweshion |
@Op kpele o. she's 21 and ur 31. Ur ready to settle, while she's in the peak of her sexual drive. If you were her age mate, you'd probably be more around her school environment and be able to calm her down or follow am do hot body. ..with such a case, her cheating is not strange. You've let your family know about her cheating. If you guys go ahead, they will always look down on her with contempt. Are you ready to tolerate this. From one bad 9ja man to another: Why bother the pastor na? If you're trying to prove a point that he is desecrating his position, then go ahead but he wasn't screwing your wife naw after all, if she were screwing Ramseh Noah you no go tok say u wan report am to him wife and actors guild Its different if you're warning him to keep off her, then it would be cool to play that card there are 2 things that you can do now. 1) break up with her neatly and quickly without much drama. This will hurt both of you 2) Continue with her but gradually let her go so you guys can emotionally adjust slowly no need sitting on the fence for too long |
Option 1: It is said that when david was hungry, he ate bread that was permissible only for priests to eat. Your friend can likewise do without tithing for now Option 2: If your friend feels strongly that he should tithe then he can do any of these: Option 2a) Just like government tax is taken away from earnings and the remaining salary is then tithed, he can add his parents money to the compulsory tax then tithe the remaining. Option 2b) Your friend can tithe from all, then give his parents the rest of the money. And then apply faith for his own sustenance after this. Option 2C) Your friend can pay his tithe then tell his pastor that himself and his parents are in need. That according to the old testament tradition, the pastor should take care of all of them as they are in need. Option 2d) your friend can open a church that only himself and his family attends at first. He then pays his tithe to himself and can then be able to take care of his family. 9jaBloke: |
starlingleanets:dude just let these guys be. they are unto some interesting stuff abeg u |
Dan1cole:And old men are not supposed to prophesy? ![]() Nope the way you interpret this verse is as follows: When the holy spirit is released to the church, he will give even the old dying men hope they will dream inspirational dreams of things that they intend to achieve even in old age |
starlingleanets:do you realize that you have the sting of a scorpion let these guys be and stop sowing poison retrogressive teachings into them |
@OP Any ideas of a practical way that we can help from our different stations in life? Cheers |

PART 3 The tithers and anti-tithers So YES, tithing is a model that works for the church collectively (miracle or no miracle) I am not sure about how it works (if it does) for individual members But for Goshen360 et al who are also scripturally showing that tithing should not be in play This is what I have to say to them. Folks don't give necessarily for the love of God. They sow because the want to reap. If you show them a new way to reap, they will listen and follow you And just like pastor chris smartly forced his gospel of "once saved always saved" on Nigerians through the use of "miracles" which Nigerians like. Your anti-tithing team would have to be perceived to be the oracle of God to be successful in pushing through this anti-tithing alternative gospel Then you will see all these pro-tithing follow-the-leader commentators suddenly switching sides and becoming the ant-tithing advocates They are called sheep for a reason. So pursue the vision if you feel strongly about it and don't bother with the minions ![]() |
PART 2 The tithers and anti-tithers An explanation to how the miracle of tithing worked is this. Men like Idahosa started poor. they gradually grew their churches and at the same time started preaching about giving to get wealth Folks back then were very stubborn in money issues unlike today As Idahosa started "performing miracles", some of his followers began to trust in him as the oracle of God So when men like him showed scriptures that promised God's reward if they give it was gradually accepted as God talking through them So the followers gave, and the leaders got wealthier With the new wealth of the leaders, the leaders became confident enough to rub shoulders with Military administrators and top bureacrats Some of this public administrators became members of their churches and also bought into the God investment thing Xtians that were previously church rats began to have church friends in governmental high places They began to get contracts ... Praise the lord ![]() and they in turn hired members of their churches for different activities so the money percolated through to many members of the churches in turn, the members of the churches gave more believing that it was their investment in God that was yielding such massive returns and so, the beautiful vortex continued giving, receiving, growing bigger, more confident, more network, giving ........ Winners is a good example of such model my friends in Winners where receiving contracts and getting employment quickly through espirit-de-corp of fellow Winners |
PART 1 The tithers and anti-tithers ![]() make me sef contribute here My observation is that you can argue both tithing and anti-tithing points from the same bible just like you can argue both the "once saved always saved" vs "continued repentance" gospel from the same bible ![]() For now, what is in vogue is the tithing gospel it is appealing to both leaders and followers because it seems to suggest that if you invest in God through the leaders, then God will bless both with riches and more. The tithing gospel was not previously prevalent -at least, not in the early Nigerian churches But as Men like Arcbishop Idahosa preached this gospel, they got richer from the few that stepped out in Faith to tithe and "sow" As folks watched these pastors get richer, the followers that initially hesitated started bringing in their money hoping to tap into this wealth-increasing anointing. The pastors and their ministries got richer as this gospel increased. Of course, from this little story, you can easily see one of the ways in which the leaders got richer The question then is "did the followers also increase in 'blessings'?" Interestingly, from my observation, YES they did increase. If you knew how xtians and xtianity was some decades back, you'd appreciate the increase. This might be a miracle, but can it be explained using simple logic? YES it can |
not bad however, since i'm strong on architectural finese, I'll be reluctant to give this house 70% the finishing was not done by experts the paint is on the roof and spilling onto the pavement walls that are supposed to be straight are zig zag Sometimes its better to use metal containers and precise plums when doing your concrete containers metal does not go zig-zag the way that wood does u try sha but maybe hire a university art student for paining jobs and finishing next time ..cheers |
bruno419:good to know that we share the same religious disposition I like to use the term "if the bible is true" a lot Not because I do not believe in it, but because of 3 reasons: 1) Allows me to step back and critique so I am not a complete zombie -afterall, everybody believes their own religious book 2) Allows me to have some little scientific objectivity (and disharm the other party) when discussing with people who nurse some doubts 3) Allows me to be prepared and accept new 'rhema'. After all, many interpretations have come forth, some suggesting that a-some sections of the bible are not be read literary, b-that some parts are in coded parables. for example you hear some xtians suggesting that the 7 days of creation means 7 periods etc So yes, no daughter of Eve is mentioned. But from all reasonable conjecture, we can assume that there were daughters born to Eve However, you never can tell. Just like I described in 3 above, a new "rhema" can emerge to fill that gap in bible history suggesting something completely different from our present thoughts on the subject. Almost like questioning why your lineage is not listed in Nigerian history instead of simply accepting that they were not important might show that they were actually royalties from Congo at that period Perhaps, you questioning along those lines might birth such a revelation of the mates of Cain and Seth so, ...carry on ![]() |
bruno419:If you're an atheist or none xtian... then I'm not interested in any religious arguments with you we have no common philosophy to sustain any. If a xtian, then my answer is this: Yep, it mentioned Eve, but not any daughters. This is very possible if the bible is accurate. The books about Nigerian history do not mention your dad or grand dads names. This doesn't mean that they never existed It simply means that the writers of the history books did not consider your lineage as important even if you do think otherwise |
So bruno419 the next question that you should logically ask is this: 1) So, did Seth Mate with only one of his sisters, or many of them if they were more than two? 2) Did Adam have other sons apart from Seth, Cain and Abel? 3) If no other sons and Seth took one of his sisters, and Cain took one too, and assuming that there were many more sisters to only two males, what happened to the other sisters? To the 3rd question, I'd say well, Eve's other daughters probably mated with their nephews from Seth and Cain. Lots of incest right? |
bruno419:great question Its something like this. Say we freeze Nairaland database and no more information can be posted. Is there any NL prove that you bruno419 were born of a woman? Probably none. However, we will then be free to think around the issue. Most if not all people in the world are born of women We are yet to be aware that any human child was carried through gestation by a cow or a male human. Consequently, we can safely assume with full confidence that bruno419 was born of a woman ![]() |
bruno419: now that belhomme has answered your questionyour next line of question could be: "So who did Seth marry? his sister?" And my answer to that would be: "Well, if the bible has given a true account of creation, then yes he mated with at least one of his sisters" then if you recoil with disgust and say: "isn't that a sin?" then I'll tell you: "Well Adam mated with his female clone eve" and "I hope and pray that the world is not destroyed with only you and your sister as the only beings left" context is extremely powerful |
salsera:Tell her to visit Citizens Advice Bureau in person first They have a voluntary team that is knowledgeable in most of what you've mentioned http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/ |
Samunique:jesus once got so upset that he got physically violent using whips to drive folks off the temple Moses ...ahhhhh master of anger. he grounded gold to dust and forced the israelites to drink Someone in defending his pastor chris on this forum used the heavens to curse a fellow brethren like a 'heathen' would do .....We all are entitled to anger as long as in our anger we don't make mistakes that cannot be corrected like killing someone etc ![]() |
VLadipo I am still arguing for argument sake only In this instance, let me assume that you are correct that a satan/devil was mentioned some 5 times in the old testament now, to this: me: you:ok, considering then that the Holy Spirit who is very perfect and smart describes it as 'an evil spirit from the Lord" who are we to try helping in describing it as "allowed by God"? ![]() |
youngice:I'll take of some of what I was trying to say and present the little bit how can you know u have sinned against the holy spirit ?if you have the spirit in you, u cant sin against him (at least permanently) so need to bother yourself about what qualifies as unforgivable sins against him I've observed that nothing Christian really moves me again?it happens to many if not all xtians for me, it is a sign to move on to higher revelations/understanding that moves me its like you are excited when promoted to University from Sec School. If you stay there longer than needed, you'll loose any excitement These are the things he thought me when I had those two issues just like you now have ..best wishes |
