Why share a picture taken centuries ago on a thread talking about how it still stands in 2022? What are we supposed to do with the old picture? It would have been a good reference if you had shared a recent one along with it. |
What's the problem exactly? This isn't a Buhari or Nigerian thing. Many schools abroad incorporate such fun activities into nursery education a lot. Anything that makes the idea of schooling fun, safe and healthy is OK. A day set out to play seems fun. I'm sure most people would find it cool if it were a US school doing this. The other day, we read about a Chinese school that has adjustable chairs so that pupils can sleep, and front page people were calling out Nigeria for creating "work-only" environment for our kids. Now a Nigerian school is doing something fun, and people are calling them out for not knowing what proper education should be like. Nigerians just hate anything Nigerian. |
Officialgarri:Actually, the video shows both Buhari and Ganduje were helping him hold the flag cause he wouldn't stop shaking. |
It's probably IVF. That medical procedure is a gift to mankind. |
Channah1:I learned he's got dementia. At his age, I'm not sure healing is possible. I pray he lives the rest of his days peacefully and happily. I enjoyed his movies. |
But a horse ejaculates at the normal time it's created to. Why would you call it premature using human time-line as a yardstick? |
The leaders will start killing each other for the gold. |
You didn't say you don't have a roof over your head. You didn't say you've got nothing to eat. Your anger is that you aren't driving big cars and using iPhones like some people? Sad |
This is terrible. |
Both the man and the hospital should be penalized. Why would the management of the hospital allow an 85 year old man to carry out surgical procedures? Even if there was a logical reason for him to be working at that age, I can't think of any reason why he should be operating on patients. Regardless of how skilled he used to be, he is now weak both mentally and physically. |
The corpse plays too much joor. ![]() |
To do what? ![]() |
VeryWickedMan:You missed the joke. |
CSTRR:Isn't the bolded the entire point? The medical education still stands out despite the poor education system. Isn't that what I said? |
Ndibuna:Please, read the first person I quoted, read my response to him, and see the point I am challenging. His post wasn't about Nigeria's decision at all, so that is not the bone of contention here. So maybe you shouldn't have quoted me cause my post had nothing to do with the current situation in the country but rather, I was correcting the guy who said Ukrainian doctors are quacks and can't be compared to thier Nigerian counterparts. The online thing just started a few weeks ago and Nigeria is right to be skeptical about it. That's common sense. Nevertheless, Ukraine had some of the best medical schools out there prior to the war. Anyone is refusing to acknowledge that is just being biased. Their doctors are not just good, they are great, and they work in many western countries today. The US/Canada wouldn't employ under qualified medical practitioners. Below is what the guy said and that's untrue. He is just a Russian supporter who does not know how to treats different subjects in isolation. Those so called doctors trained in Ukraine are eye sore. They don't know anything. They are total disgrace. Both in clinical and theory. Lots of them are not even close to Nigerian trained doctors, talkless of been on par with them. I don't know if it's jamboree they went there to do. |
Ndibuna:As if your post I quoted was friendly. You're addressed based on how you approached. It didn't occur to you to reply me with your non existent points in the first place, it's now you want to start dishing them out. You have no point, oga. Go and sleep. |
Ndibuna:Don't change the goalposts. Has Ukraine produced any doctor since the war started? Were the present Ukrainian doctors taught online? I'm not referring to online education that just started cause of the war. The person I quoted trashtalked Ukraine's school of medicine by suggesting thier doctors are quacks and that is bullshit spewed out of sentiments cause Ukraine was one of the leading places to study medicine prior to the war. I answered that comment comprehensively. You didn't address any of the points I raised there but rather, you're repeating the same trash like a poorly trained Amazon parrot, so there's nothing for me to engage. |
engrchykae:My post has nothing to do with Nigeria's decision regarding the online studies. I'm not against that. I'm only correcting the guy I quoted who Ukraine trained doctor's quacks just because he wants to take a side on the war. The online studies just started recently and Nigeria has good reasons to be skeptical about it. Nevertheless, Ukraine's schools of medicine were top notch prior to the war and thier doctors were doing just fine all over the world. So the person I quoted was just being overly biased and sentimental. |
Ndibuna:Lol... Don't worry, I'm not even gonna try to debate a baseless statement. I have better things to do with my time. |
Dvdpity:Sorry sir, but I disagree with this submission. It's more opinionated than factual. You probably just don't like the country. I support Nigeria's decision too, but let's stick with the facts. Ukraine's medical education was doing just great prior to the war How many of their doctors have you interacted with to come up with this assertion? There's a reason why Nigerian doctors are doing great abroad despite the poor education in the country. Yes, some schools are better than others, but the country of graduation is not really a major factor in MBBS provided that first, school is accredited by a body recognized by the WFME; second the school is recognized by the host country; and third, the individual is able to pass the regional professional license exams of the host country. This is why you see doctors from Sub-Saharan Africa getting jobs and doing well all over the world despite the so-called poor education in the region. Are you suggesting these countries are all better than Ukraine when it comes to medicine? If the Ukrainian doctors you're referring to are practicing anywhere outside Ukraine, they are verted and considered as good as thier local counterparts. We have many of them here in the US/Canada and they're doing just as good as their colleagues from all over the world. The US/Canada will NEVER employ any medical practioner that can be described the way you did above. Besides, there's no single recognized med school rating out there that put Nigeria or any African country above Ukraine. Many of them have Ukraine in the top 10 to 20. So I'm surprised by your claims. If you had an ugly experience with a Ukrainian doctor, it definitely does not sum up the performance of the entire medical schools. |
WatchYourSix:What I shared with you was from Google definitions. That's a reference and references are used to by sane people to support thier submissions. It's an English word and you don't know the language more than the natives. So you can't just stand there and give the word phobia your own meaning just to satisfy your hatred for a group of people. I don't care how many times WHO has been accused of whatever, it has no bearing on the fact that phobia means fear or aversion. I don't need WHO or any organization to say it before I know that as an independent entity. When the word "xenophobia" was used to describe the hatred South Africans had for foreigners in their country, was it the LGBTQ people that coined it for them too? Do you only challenge words when it suits you or maybe you thought South Africans were just afraid? You think I am condescending, yet you're the one that believes you're better than others just cause you're straight. Such a paragon of humility, you must be. Like I said, you've not made any sense so far and I doubt you'd make any. The only thing you've shown so far is that you're spending linguistically rigid you don't have any idea what contextual meaning is all about. If you think I'm condescending, level up. |
WatchYourSix:You'd rather address my personality than the subject of discussion. That's a typical behavior of a cornered person. There is nothing wrong with the word homophobia, dude. You got it wrong. Deliberately throwing jabs at my personality from now till tomorrow why shying away from your wrong submission won't change that. |
WatchYourSix:Just go dude, you have nothing to say. The last thing I expected was for you to take correction anyway. |
WatchYourSix:I'm not responsible for your self confidence or lack of thereof. So if you find my post condescending, go work on yourself. I addressed what you said squarely. Even if my response was long, at least, you got the point. The meaning of homo is contextual and in this context, it is clearly referring to homosexuality. Just like in the word "homophobia", it used to start many words and in each of these words, the meaning differs. It doesn't exclusively refer to homosexuality but that doesn't mean I can't refer to homosexuality. So what's your point? And no, phobia does not mean "fear" alone. It also hatred. The issue is here is the poor education in Nigeria and the limited use of words. A little Googling would have spared you this embarrament. Look at the image below. Did you see the word "aversion"? Do you know what it means?
|
WatchYourSix:What is wrong with the word though? Homo as a prefix means "same" e.g. homogeneous, homosexuality, homophone, homonym, etc. In this context, it is referring to homosexuality. Phobia means intense fear of or hatred for something. In this context, it's more of hatred. So homophobia is intense hatred for gay people. But wait, so out of everything I said, it is who came up with the word for you? Have you asked yourself who came up with the word watermelon? Don't we all know what water is and what melon? Definitely, watermelon isn't melon at all. Have you asked yourself who came up with the word grapefruit? Don't we all know what grape is and what fruit is? Definitely, grapefruit isn't grape at all. The point is, the etymology of the word itself doesn't matter if we all know the meaning. That's how languages work and it could be called anything and it won't still change the meaning. So if in a conversation as serious as human rights, you're more interested in who came up with the word, then that's another level of pettiness. |
AllahIsGarbage:Homosexuality did not begin at any point. It has always been part of mankind in all parts of the world. It definitely did not start in the West. Rich women married women in Eastern Nigeria back then. They were gay people in Africa before the advent of the white man. Even the Bible acknowledged the existence of homosexuality. What the West started in Africa was homophobia and which they introduced using their religion and thier laws. So when you say "before it started in the West", you're probably saying "before the West started acknowledging the rights of gay people". |
I don't think our boys ate getting enough home training these days. Everyone is so focused on raising the girl child that these boys are left to do whatever they like. Sad. |
If they do that, they must open in the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand too. |
lexander:Lol... My first thought was, how can they say "most handsome man in the world" when nobody measured mine? Then I realized they only did it for famous people. cescky:Hehe... come on, man! Be modest! Don't praise yourself. ![]() Lightorder:Not sure I understand what the fight is about, bro. Did you read my post? I'm practically saying real beauty it's subjective, which means it means different things to different people. This rating is just about figures. I don't know how to relate this your post with that, but yeah... good morning. ![]() donnie:You really did the maths? Wow... you should be considering a career in Data Science. Lol DaInferno:Thank you, sir. |
