Christianity Etc › Re: Russia’s Ministry Of Justice Moves To Ban Jehovah’s Witnesses In Russia by EVarn(m): 9:22am On Apr 05, 2017
So far they didnt break the law, commit any deliberate act of terrorism, coercion or incite the populace to violence, then I see no reason to liquidate the JW movement in Russia.
However,I will admit that many religious groups nowadays covertly teach that government belongs to God alone. This is not supposed to be so,as such teachings can be taken as anti-state,just like the shiite movement in Nigeria.

Hello guys,I need recommendations of political epic fantasy novel series like "A song of ice and fire(game of thrones)" and "Lord of the rings" ; personally,I have been scouring the internet for good novels that are on par with those mentioned above, but I have found none.
I will appreciate if anyone has ideas.

It is quite absurd to demand for the definition of a concept from someone who does not subscribe to that concept.

Does ugbelegbele exist ?
Please answer
One could say ugbelegbele exists because you made it exist.
Philosophically,I believe that an assumption becomes a fact(for the "assumer"wink when there is no logical evidence to disprove it.Such is the case for religion,I believe there is God simply because God exists within the boundary of my logical assumption.
I'm being philosophical anyway, notice that i'm not countering you in any way, your question just teased at my logic.
As for the OP,your logic actually makes sense. You cannot ask the pope to explain anubis or sango.

There is no knowledge in the grave... death is a deep sleep.. he didn't go nowhere..he was simply in an unconscious sleep-like state which is why he couldn't give no account of what has happened during the three days in which he was dead (asleep)
And also "For it is appointed for man to die once and after that the judgement " doesn't necessarily mean man gets judged immediately he dies,it simply means after death the next action is judgement...
#Bless
Which means the spirit doesnt leave the body after death?
PS: Lazarus died twice.

I once had this question in mind, and after searching through the bible for answers,I got nothing specific.
Only a theory about "hell" being divided into two compartments; on one side is the paradise(or abraham's bosom, using the popular parable "The Rich man and Lazarus"wink,on the other side is a place of torment. All the dead are sorted according to their deeds into either of these places and await the Last Day when they will all be judged finally.
Christianity Etc › Re: Theism And The Pettiness Of God by EVarn(m): 9:22pm On Apr 01, 2017
akintom:
All that is needed to keep criminal tendencies and acts in check, is justice.
Religion benefits only the Oppressors of the weak and gullible ones.
The concept of justice was refined from religious morals.
Justice is a human concept and is therefore subject to direct human vices and manipulations; religion on the other hand was conceptualized by humanity in our search for the answer to the creation question,we made a moral creed(under the aegis of being directed by a higher power) that is to be enforced by a superior entity with the ability to dish out eternal consequencies.

Religion is double edged however, the human tendency to make a weapon out of intellectual, philosophical and ideological concepts has made religion quite very volatile.

@Johnydon22 and Seun
This write up is quite intriguing; even as a christian,I can reason with the points made in the article.
I do have these thoughts about the instrumentalities of religion, but in the end,I end up concluding that humanity needs religion, for the same reasons we need government; to ensure relative tranquility and minimize chaos.
If religion were to be made absent in a hypothetical vacuum, such a vacuum would likely spiral into a state I call the "communal lysis of the hopeless",which may well lead to a social and psycological implosion.
Religion,by virtue of its abstract nature, makes a mockery of common sense; but it is a most necessary concept.
Why do I say this, afterall, religion seem to be the cause of half the world's conflict?,simple.Religion gives hope; hope is the last recourse of the condemned man.If a man has no hope for better things to come,he will either make everyone around him fall into his own malady or resort to taking his own life.
In a sense,its a necessary evil.

Right.
Our military seem to be lacking vision just like the government. We can more easily purchase heavy weapons from Russia,China and Pakistan, but the defence guys seem to be obssessed with western hardware.
Betterstill,DENEL Rooivalk attack helicopter(a South African product, one of the best in the world) needs funding to reactivate production, why cant our DHQ partner with South Africa's DENEL and other 3rd world countries(like Pakistan,Brazil etc) who have the advanced military technology and pump money into R&grin?,that way we get the technology for our owm future independent projects and also the patent to mass produce such weapons here in Nigeria.
Instead,we have people who are comfortable with importing bullets.

I have never come across such a statement."Without restrictions" seem to be a rather strong phrase.
Even if they decide to sell us heavy weapons(which I highly doubt),US pressure will not allow such a deal.

the French are only interested in selling weapons to Nigeria. they have no interest whatever in the country's well-being.
The French will never sell "sophisticated" weapons to Nigeria, only defence gadgets like Armoured Personnel Carriers, rifles, patrol vessels etc....gadgets we can make ourselves.
Sales of heavy weaponry like tanks and fighter jets will be stifled by either US pressure or their own foreign policy towards us.

And I asked you who is the Holy Spirit
Perhaps the problem is that you see Christ and the holy spirit as God.This is wrong.
There is only one God; christ and the holy spirit are simply other divine entities in the heavenly hierarchy.
I know it will be almost impossible for you to allow yourself ponder on this(it is only natural that you feel threatened by a "contrary" hypothesis),but you will find that you cannot reasonably explain the concept of the trinity with your "christ and the holy spirit are God" ideology.

Do not be acidic towards me as I bear you no ill or insult.I asked a question out of curiosity and the least you could have done is to ignore if you felt mocked.
You profess to be a christian,it is therefore expedient that you act in a decorous manner and with civilized proprietory,if it is in your capacity to do so.
Now,I asked the question because I thought that you made a mistake, but now I see the problem.
First of all,the holy spirit is not God,rather he is the spirit of God: your analogy of saying my spirit is me is quite wrong. My spirit is not me,it is a part of me.
The case is different for God because our nature is quite different from that of God.That is another debate anyway.
Point: You do not pray to or worship the holy spirit.

The president is either too sick to perform or he has lost his political will,or maybe its a combination of the two.
Eitherway,if things continue this way, then the man needs to be shown the door by 2019.It has become as bad as PDP.
Maybe Jonathan should have been allowed to continue till 2019,at least, that way there would have been continuity.

This matter should be a simple thing for the presidency.Divide the house by instigating a political insurrection.
Secure a court warrant to arrest and detain Saraki for fraud and embezzlement.Get him nailed in the CCT and automatically remove him constitutionally.
The man has a lot of dirt on him for christ sake!,why cant the executive use it?

Alternatively, the president could engineer a "national disaster",and then declare a State of Emergency. With emergency powers, the president can seal the national assembly, and issue arrests on parliamentarians that have "links" to the national disaster.

It is a legacy problem bequeathed by PDP, improper privitization and other corrupt process is what created this problem.
Yes I know, but the current administration needs to develop a coherent template for solving our power issues, inherited or not; the Gencos and Discos are complaining about being owed hundreds of billions by government agencies. It is only logical that they demand payment, they are private entities afterall. The government should seriously look into it,because how do we expect them to be running at a loss for years now?.We should also look into gas supply and power transmission, they seem to be major sources of complaint.
2018 is the last governing year, and there hasnt been any meaningful progress in any sector of the Nigerian system till date.
Politics › Re: Darkness Looms As Egbin Set To Shut Down Over N110bn Debt by EVarn(m): 9:10am On Mar 30, 2017
The current government seem quite clueless concerning the power issue.Even the minister for power was lamenting that he does not know exactly where the problem stems from; its either today the Gencos blame the TCN for not being able to evacuate electricity,or tomorrow, the TCN blame the Discos for rejecting power. The gas supply seem to be epileptic, and we dont even know the capacity of the national grid, all the while the people in power keep telling us that Nigeria has an installed capacity to generate 10,000MW of electricity, yet we are in darkness.Confusion everywhere.
APC is really not a serious party, its as bad as PDP.

My main goal would be to actualize stable power supply in Edo state; if it is to lobby for a bill to be passed concerning it in the national assembly.
Then focus would be given to tourism,I think we underestimate tourism in Nigeria; we only talk about oil, agriculture and industry.Tourism is a huge contributor to the economies of Dubai,France,USA etc....I will build a "Grand Museum of Benin" and embark on massive infrastructural upgrage coupled with a sophisticated transport system.
Basically,I will run a socialist system by instituting a state owned "Infrastructural and Industrial Bank of Benin(IIBB)" that will give out loans to MSMEs/SMLEs at a very low interest rate,as well as attract investors to finance huge infrastructural projects in the state.
I will add history and moral education into the syllabus.
A state owned milling company will be opened for the proceessing and packaging of grains that are produced through a series of agricultural reforms; Benin rice,Benin wheat etc will be an household brand.

What are the billions budgeted for healthcare(though it is quite a pittance compared to what it should be) every year used for then?

We should stop all these shallow 3rd class mode of reasoning and start being productive anywhere we find ourselves, even in our schools.
Having a first class simply signifies that you are one of the best in your class; everyone should strive to be first class material(1:1,2:1,and 2:2).But if paradventure you end up with a 3rd class, you shouldnt resort to maligning and denigrating those who came out with better grades than you, instead, you should determine to prove to yourself and to the world that you can still make a resounding impact to your generation.
If you couldnt beat your peers in school, then try to beat them in real life, otherwise, they will still leave you behind again and forever.
