Image123: fortunately, anyone who doesn't believe in God is not a serious minded person. What is the person living for to start with? You knew this statement made no sense while typing, yet you still went ahead and posted it. Edit: Just in case you're actually as rétarded as your last post made you sound, I'm going to break it down for you: Belief in the Judeo-Christian god and "serious-mindedness" are totally unrelated. Stephen Hawking doesn't believe in god, but Wizkid and Eedris Abdulkareem do. |
Image123: him father came out openly before you were probably born. He was and is still ignored by serious minded people.Beko was an atheist as well. Olikoye never came out openly, but he was never particularly religious and if you look at his life and the his dealings with his brothers, friends and colleagues; all the signs were there. And I think I already mentioned Wole Soyinka. Are any of these people serious-minded enough for you? |
Holy cráp! Is that Photoshopped? The guy is actually wearing a Jesus piece like Biggie Smalls. I hope he does a music video on his jet softball of us can be inspired to be born again just like him. |
It's good that Seun is able to say this publicly. His family has never followed the crowd in terms of religion (including his second cousin once removed, Wole Soyinka) so I'm not that surprised. In any case, we need more Nigerian atheists coming out like this. We need to start challenging the fanatics in the public sphere before they succeed in christianizing/islamizing the country. |
frosbel: Did you mean to say :The last time you and I posted on the same thread, I called you a hypocrite for accusing others of using strawman arguments and you denied it. I've been away from Nairaland for a few weeks since then. But. lo and behold, the very first frosbel post I read on my return features the granddaddy of all strawmen: the "how could it all have happened by chance argument". Just to be clear, no scientist has ever claimed that evolution happens "just by chance". Natural selection is pretty much the opposite of chance. The only chance involved in evolution is the usual randomness inherent in the natural world, which anyone who has played ludo before should be familiar with. Go and find a biology book to read. You might learn something. |
true?:I've lived in Africa for most of my life, and I have never seen or heard of anyone sticking his joystick in a monkey. Stop swallowing rascist propaganda. HIV was more likely first transmitted to humans from a knife cut while butchering bush meat. Also HIV in Africa is mainly spread through heterosexual sex. The gay epidemic is peculiar to the west. Unless you or one of your family members was the monkeyfúcker in question, your argument is invalid. If so, please let us know. |
manmustwac is right that the male organ didn't evolve to be used in another man's backside. But then, what about a woman's backside? Or a woman's mouth? Or a woman's hand? Hell, what about a man's hand? Is it natural to hold my own dìck when I pee, or should I ask my GF to hold it for me with her vágina? The truth you don't want to admit is that "natural" only means what happens in the natural world. And since homosexuality has existed for all of recorded history, and exists in practically all higher animals, it is natural. What the bible, koran, bhaghavad gita, grail message, Sat Guru Maraji and the Harry Potter books say is completely irrelevant. Christians who believe in the bible are free to not sleep with members of the same sex if they don't want to. But for FSM's sake, dont abuse the power of government to impose your religious beliefs on others. |
The FG does it again! The greedy scumfucks have found another way to milk money out of the people to fund their bloated and corrupt enterprise. The new plates are actually worse than the old ones in the sense that the added graphics make them harder to read from a distance. They could and should have computerised the database without asking everybody to pay more for something that has zero additional benefit. GEJ is really on a roll this year. He's raised taxes, reduced subsidy, increased NEPA bills, and given nothing but promises and excuses in return. Good job, Mr. President! |
KazeKage1: I haven't really given JB much thought to be honest..as i still enjoy the intense experience of playing online neither have i thought about upgrading to 4(if available).Hacked PS3s have had PSN access for over 6 months now. PSN's security has been busted wide open. The passphrase has been leaked. When Sony inevitably changes it, the new one will also get deciphered and leaked. The chances that Sony will be able to keep hacked consoles off PSN for any significant length of time are slim to none going forward. |
You might be able to adjust the vram in the bios settings. It depends on the brand of laptop. Also, try running it in XP SP3 compatibility mode. Any laptop that came with 4GB of RAM should be more than powerful enough to run PES at least on low settings so it's likely that the problem is somewhere else. |
KazeKage1: What about 3.72 OFW consoles?Nothing for you for now, but the release of the new keys has set off a firestorm of dev work. Sooner or later someone will find an exploit that'll let us hack even the newer consoles. Sony has done an admirable job securing and resecuring the PS3, but no system is perfect. The holes are always there, people just have to find and exploit them first. Be patient Kazekage-sama. Your time will come. Meanwhile, don't upgrade! |
chukwudi44: 20. Evil Brain(m): Quote PostA baby doesn't necessarily need to be taken care of by its parents to survive. Other people can do it instead, even the government can. On the other hand, before 28 weeks, a baby's chances of survving putside the womb are practically zero. If the mother decides that she doesnt want it in her body anymore should have the right to stop harbouring it. Imagine if someone is dependent on life-support machines, and his relatives are no longer willing to pay the crazy medical hills. Should they be forced to? Should the government force them to sell their property and impoverish their kids to keep the patient alive? Should you be forced to donate your kidney because someone else can't live without it? The answer is no. If I want to give you my kidney, that's fine. But if not, you'll just have to sort yourself out without my help. If you die, then too bad. Pregnancy is more dangerous and more life-changing than donating a spare organ, especially in Nigeria. People should not ne forced to go through it against their will. |
chukwudi44: The main question here is @ what point does a human being becomes entitled to his/her fundamental human rights.Does a foetus in the mother's womb have the right to life or should simply depends on the mothers wishes?Try to think of it in terms of property rights. A woman's body is her property and she should have total control over what happens to it. If she wants to carry a baby in it, that's fine. If she wants to risk hwr life giving birth, no problem. But the moment she decides not to, she should have the right to end the pregnancy. If the baby is not yet able to survive on it's own, then that's too bad. It may sound harsh, but nobody should be forced to provide life-support to someone else against their will, especially when their own life and well-being is at risk. Women are people, not breeding machines. Once, the baby is able to survive outside the mother, harming it in any way should be a crime. But before that, it's "my house, my rules". |
OLAADEGBU: That shows you the power in a name. The mention of one gives you peace but the mention of another brings you to pieces.Which one does what? I'm not aware that the plane blew up, just that it was forced to land. Maybe the guy needed to use the bathroom. Those plane toilets are not really designed for number two. I should try that trick next time it happens to me. |
wiegraf: Wait first.... Will this work for me, slim, probably on the latest firmware? The current CFW can only be installed on PS3s running 3.55. But in principle, the lv0 keys should enable hacking of everything up to the latest firmware. You'll just have to wait awhile though for other CFWs to come out. This is a major security setback for Sony. There are still a few more things they can do to slow down hackers, but the battle is almost over. |
It's a miracle!!! The name of Allah really has power. I bet if he'd shouted Jesus, the plane would have kept flying. |
Logicboy03: I can understand anti-abortion stance but some conservatives take it to the extreme. Isnt saying that you are pro-life enough? Why must one now mention molestaion? The problem is that when a politician says something, you have to follow it to its logical conclusion or there may be terrible unforseen consequences in the future. If a politician opposes abortion in all circumstances, you have to think of rápe victims. If they talk about banning stem cell research, you need to think of all the people with diseases that stem cell research has the potential to cure. You also have to ask if they're going to try and ban in-vitro fertilization which also involves the eventual destruction of embryos. You have to closely scrutinize everything that politicians say or they will screw you royally when they get into office. |
As long as OWRS, GMRK and DWRS (Orunmila Worship Religious Studies, Guru Maraji Religious Knowledge and Devil Worship Religious Studies) are included, I don't have a problem with it. |
Good news! The lv0 keys have been released. That means the latest firmware can be decrypted and CFW is inevitable. Have patience brothers (and sisters), your consoles shall soon be free! arstechnica.com/gaming/2012/10/sony-faces-setback-as-hackers-release-playstation-3-decryption-keys/ Edit: Just checked and it turns out that new CFW is already available. That was fast! |
OLAADEGBU: More Muslims turning to Christ in Iran. You do realize that, in Iran, apostasy is punishable by death, right? As in if you, as a Muslim turn to Christ and they find out, the government will fúcking kill you. The Muslims are just a few decades behind the Christians who just stopped killing followers of other religions recently and are still persecuting them whenever they can get away with it. |
Giving to the poor is the only legitimate way to pay your tithe. Tithing in church has no basis in scripture. It's basically a scam being run by greedy pastors. They're colluding among themselves to conflate the old testament temple with the modern church organisation as if they're the same thing, which they clearly aren't. Anyone who pays tithe to church should keep inn mind that his/her money is being used to pay for the pastor's ostentatious lifestyle. You might as well flush your money down the toilet for all the good it'll do anyone. |
truthislight: ^^^Right. Like I'm actually going to spend my time going through frosbel's posting history just to win an argument. Like reading his inane rants once isn't punishment enough. I'll tell you what, the next time I catch him doing it, I'll point it out for you. It shouldn't take long since he does it so often. If that's not enough for you then you can go through his posts yourself. For all I know you could be a jobless student with nothing better to do with your time. |
tpia@:Right, so we're back to this again: Ok, I admit it. I'm bitter at christians. I'm deeply jealous of their inner joy and freedom. I'm hurting inside because I don't have Jebus. I'm desperately looking for someone to fill that void. I only became an atheist because mommy didn't hug me enough when I was a small boy. I cry myself to sleep every night hoping that the Muslims, Christians, devil worshippers and Guru Maharaji people would let me into their exclusive club. It's all true! I freely admit it! There you go lady, are you happy now? |
tpia@:They didn't know who I am, and had no way of knowing I'm an atheist. I'm pretty sure they asked everybody else the same questions. Of course it wasn't a must to work there. Like I said earlier, I eventually got the job but told them to shove it. I of course am one of the lucky few that have plenty of options in terms if employment. But with the economy the way it is, most Nigerians can't afford to turn down a job offer for any reason. That means you either start living a lie or stay jobless. It is a real problem. as per the rest of your complaints- I am forced to hear all kinds of jingles and jargons directed at christians by atheists on this forum and you dont see me carrying it on my head.I'm not the one offloading frustration here. You should try and talk to Daviddylan though. Maybe after he finishes watching tennis and downloading music, you guys can have a heart to heart. I think he needs some good Christian counselling. And probably a hug too. |
davidylan: hahahahaha the irony. This coming from the bunch of incredulous monkeys who spend all day of every month of the entire year telling us how dumb we are for believing in a sky pixie? the nerve!Guy, I think you need to breathe into a paper bag for a few minutes to calm down. You seem to be channelling some pent-up emotions towards me. I don't recall ever talking about my IQ. Or calling you a bigoted fööl. Or ever using the term "sky pixie". I swear! Try entering "site:nairaland.com 'evil brain' 'sky pixie'" into Google (without the outer quotes) and you'll see that I'm telling the truth. I suggest you go out and punch an old mattress for a while, have a good, healthy cry, then come back when you're feeling better so we can talk some more. |
Look at frosbel preaching against the use of straw man arguments. It hasn't even occurred to him that he does the exact same thing practically every time he attacks someone else's beliefs on Nairaland. Define hypocrisy. |
Deleted. Double post. |
davidylan: and why is religion on your CV in the first place? I dont have christianity on mine either and i never get asked for it. No one cares. Unless of course you work for a one-man business.I don't put religion on my CV. That's why they had to ask me during the interview. And FYI, the vast majority of people work in small businesses. There's no shame in it as long as you're earning an honest living. People who work in one-man businesses don't deserve to deal with discrimination any more than you do. You come across as a snob who is out of touch with reality. Just sayin... |
Legalizing abortion is an extremely good idea. Criminalizing it doesn't reduce the number of abortions that happen. In fact, IT ultimately increases it. Legalizing abortion means you can regulate it. It means you can enforce safety standards. It means that you can make sure women receive counselling before and after. It means you can educate them on birth control and start them on contraceptives so they don't come back again. When you criminalize something people want, you only drive it underground and create a black market. And just like marijuana, the prohibition just drives the price up and makes it more attractive to criminals. The only reason why abortions are dangerous is because the ban stops qualified doctors from doing them forcing women to risk their lives with quacks and charlatans. In the UK you're just as likely to die after pulling a tooth as after an abortion. One more thing. In the UK, where abortion is legal and paid for by taxpayers, it is rare for a woman to have more than 1 in her lifetime. Here in Nigeria, I've seen women that admit to having 16 or more! The quacks never tell them about contraceptives because they want repeat business. |
davidylan: the essence being our dear evil brain seems to me to be a loafer who doesnt have the qualifications to compete for jobs in real companies where issues like religion are not an issue. Of course if you want to work for papa's pizza then be prepared to answer for your faith depending on who the proprietor is. Perhaps he should take less time bawling against the bible and upgrade his job skills. Just saying...I actually lolled when I read this. At the risk of sounding like I'm bragging, I have to say you are pretty far off the mark about me. And this was a very "serious" company. I won't name names. You seem to have an overly high opinion of the levels of professionalism in Nigerian companies. You would probably be shocked at the type of things that go on in some of them. I've personally heard at least 1 bank MD openly admit to religious discrimination during testimony time in church (I was dragged along by a relative). This stuff happens pretty openly, it's not a secret, and based on personal experience, it is extremely common. You probably haven't noticed it because you happen to belong the religious majority. If you don't believe me, try putting "high priest of Olumba-Olumba" in the the extracurricular section of your CV and see how many job offers you get. |
awistle: So guys is it dat the version 4.00 can never be jailbroken cos i cant continue to spend 15k on cds. There are endless rumours of new CFWs but so far, none has panned out. It'll almost certainly be cracked eventually, but it'll just take a long time. You just need to be patient and avoid updating whenever possible. |

He calls me a snob!
