OP is trying to compare apples and pick-up trucks. Atheism is not a religion so I don't see why you expect us to have any kind of leadership structure. Do people who don't support Arsenal football club have a global leadership structure? How come the Ibo ITAs (Indifferent to Arsenals) aren't killing and bombing Yoruba ITAs? After all, since the Muslims are doing it, it makes sense that every other group should also be like them. |
Funny thread. See the Christians deceiving themselves that 1 Corinthians 14 34-35 means something other than what it means. Unfortunately, the language Paul used is clear and unambiguous. There's a limit to how far you can massage "women shouldn't hold authority over men, they should keep silent". I always smile when I see educated, supposedly liberated women pretending that the bible doesn't say this. Or that it says it, but it doesnt really mean it. If this passage was in the old testament, they would gladly have lumped it with all the other sexist verses they regularly ignore. Thats what you get for following a religion founded by a misogynist (Paul, not Jesus). Sorry ladies! |
OP should be very careful. He's jeopardizing the future cash-flow of countless churches and pastors with this tirade of his. Expect the pastor and their sock-puppets to descend on this thread and either attack OP or start explaining why we shouldn't listen to him and instead give them all our money. |
@Frosbel Che Guevera left an affluent life in Argentina to risk his life and suffer in the jungle to free a country that wasn't even his. While he was a guerilla, he never allowed his men to steal, loot or rápe. Anyone who did so was punished severely. He was always on the front line of every battle and never asked his troops to take any risk unless he was taking it too. He never forgot that he was fighting for the common people, and treated them with the greatest respect, even those who didn't support him. When his revolutionaries won control of the country, he personally made sure the the soldiers didn't loot or rob as is the usual practice after a big victory. He became the central bank governor, but never enriched himself, never stole, and always put the interests of the people first. Then instead of sitting back and enjoying the affluent life and heroic status he had earned, he chose to leave it all behind to go to the jungles of Africa, again to risk his life helping some black strangers fight their corrupt governments. He was eventually murdered in Bolivia, by another dictatorship he was trying to overthrow. There are few people in history who have shown the kind of selflessness, honesty, and bravery that Che showed. He was that rare man that power could not corrupt. That you cab condemn him for a few harsh words, written in harsh circumstances and ignore all the good he did says more about you than him. I challenge you to name one single Christian or Muslim world leader that has maDr that level of self sacrifice to help others and for a cause he or she believed in. |
frosbel: I get Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot and Kim il Sung; but what did poor Ho chi Minh, Fidel and Che do? As I see it, they only fought to defend their countries against American imperialism and the excesses of capitalism. Che Guevera in particular is a hero in my book. Unless you're one of those people thinks anyone who opposes the Americans is evil. |
I just want to congratulate Uyi Iredia on his outstanding thread derailment work. Good job bro, those filthy atheists were making far too much sense there. https://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ma7widSnai1qzwelr.gif |
Sweetnecta: i am still waiting for logicboy03 to provide conclusive evidence for his statement that Jesus is not a muslim by providing that he is something else. Why don't you try and prove that Mohammed wasn't a scientologist? Or that Logicboy isn't a muslim? Or that you didn't r@pe and murder a girl in 1990? Can you give us definitive proof that there is no invisible purple octopus floating above your head? You can't! So why don't you just accept the existence of the octopus and stop arguing? |
I've done it before and I'd do it again. And I've only ever done it to help people, not to get a free HIV and Hep B screening. The only thing I'm religious about is using condoms so I know I dont have HIV. Lots of people are going to come on this thread and claim that they'll happily donate. But when their neighbour gets hit by a danfo bus and needs blood, they'll start stammering and giving excuses. If you're such a good Christian/Muslim how come you've never strolled down to the nearest general hospital to donate blood? There's too many hypocrites among the religious people. All talk and no action. |
striktlymi: I am curious to know where you got this "official" information from. Stritklymi: i seriously doubt that official document came out of the first and true church which is the catholic church, considering the protestants history as murderers and hereticsThere is plenty of historical evidence available about the the Catholic church's harsh treatment of Jews. There is no point trying to deny 2000 years of history, especially since the church itself has admitted responsibility for some if not all of it. If you're not aware of the church’s shameful past, then I suggest you do a Google search and learn the truth. From The Economist When Napoleon's revolutionary armies occupied Rome in 1798 and again in 1809, the French allowed the Jews to leave the ghetto and enjoy equal rights. One of the first actions of Pius VII when he was restored to power was to drive them back. Rome's Jews were briefly emancipated again in 1848, when Garibaldi and his troops seized Rome. Two years later, in 1850, the return of a pope, this time Pius IX, resulted again in a return to the ghetto and the reintroduction of the old restrictions.http://www.economist.com/node/770783 Further Reading:http://www.sullivan-county.com/news/mine/timeline.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity_and_antisemitism. |
If I could go back, I wouldn't kill Hitler. Killing people is never a good way to solve problems. If I knew he would become a mass murderer, what I'd do is to talk to him and try to show him the error of his ways. In any case, there is no reason to think getting rid of Hitler would have prevented the horrors of World War 2. Contrary to popular belief, Hitler didn't kill all those people by himself. The holocaust was due to to the actions of the whole of the German government with the active or passive participation of the majority of the German people. Racism and anti-Semitism had been pervasive in German culture for centuries. Racism against Jews was official catholic doctrine, and the founder of German protestantism, Martin Luther himself was an anti-semite who wrote several hate-filled racist books and pamphlets against them. The truth is that the Holocaust or something similar would probably have happened no matter who happened to be in charge in Germany. Hitler was the poster-boy for the holocaust, but not the cause. |
inspiredbyGOD:.:You are totally right. Why cant more people think like you? Oh.... wait. |
striktlymi: Good evening,No, it would have been more like "Pope shuns intolerant bigot politician". |
Even before this discovery, tthere already was a mountain of evidence that the ancient Hebrews were polytheistic. The bible bible is not a historical book. The old testament was compiled, copied and preserved by the monotheistic Jews who adjusted the text to look like their way was the only correct way, and everybody who practiced their faith differently was either evil or not a true Jew. Imagine if Christians were allowed to write the history of Nigeria without being answerable to any other religious group. I suspect tuat they would try to make it look like Christianity is Nigeria's main religion, that Islam is only practiced by a small group of violent fanatics, and that all traditionalists are evil, idol#worshipping witches. |
igbo2011: What per engage of Nigerians are traditionalists? Most are xtian or Muslim. What percentage of Nigerians are Ibo? Most are Hausa or Yoruba, so it's okay for us to discriminate against all the other tribes. |
What about devil worshippers? The government should sponsor them on pilgrimages to Las Vegas so they can snort cocaine and fúck ashawo according to the tenets of their religion. I'm an atheist, not a devil worshipper, but I'd seriously consider converting if it'll get me a free ride out of this useless country. |
ijawkid: Lol......like I said earlier, the bible isn't a science text book....but when its time to reveal truths even about the universe its accurate...and those facts have been mentioned by the OP........So we agree. The bible is not a science book. You can't extract any useful information from it. You can't discover anything new from it. The "scientific facts" in it come from people taking established theories and looking for verses whose meaning can be bent until it superficially resembles science. This, by the way is a trick that can and has been done with any sufficiently long text, including the Koran, the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the ramblings of Nostradamus. God has given us brains to decipher the rest of his creative works(the bible focuses on other more important stuffs)...........that's why I applaud scientists who work tirelessly to solve problems and establish new theories.its all Gods doing.....ecclesiastes says it will even take forever for man to know all of Gods handi work..........God has embedded in us a longing to search for him, to know his creative works, and to live forever so that we keep knowing......Actually, our brains come from evolution through natural selection. Those scientists you are applauding have been very clear on that issue. Why do you even have a brain if you're going to leave if off all the time? All I want you to do is admit that the scriptures you have discarded as false and written by men devoid of inspiration by the holy spirit,is actually from GOD and that it does contain pertinent truths that are overwhelming...........I've already given you a way to prove your holy book is legit. If you expect me to believe you over all the other religious people peddling "sacred" texts you're going to have to produce some evidence to back up your claims. Proof or GTFO. |
ijawkid: You are a big joke my bro.....the bible like was said earlier though not a science text book gives specifics of our planet which you have watered down because of your hate for the scriptures.................Oh, okay. Now that you've explained it to me, I totally believe you. Wait, I just got a great idea that can both shame all bible doubters and make both of us some money at the same time. Why don't you go through your bible and try and find one or two (or ten!) new scientific truths that the atheist scientists haven't discovered yet. I could use my knowledge of the scientific method to devise experiments, publish papers, and prove those godless scientists wrong once and for all. If our plan works, I promise to: a) Convert to Christianity b) Apologise on Nairaland for all my many blasphemous statements and c) Split the Nobel prize money with you 50:50 You have my word as an atheist. |
OP is not too good at expressing his position, but he has a point. All religions systematically tell lies to children and fill their heads with nonsense. It's hard for many people to see it because they assume that their religion is the only way. But imagine you lived in a place where everywhere was filled with posters, books, TV programs and street preachers promoting a religion that you knew was bullshít? What if your kids had to learn Guru Maraji studies in school? That's what atheists and religious minorities go through everyday in this country and we are not enjoying it. |
Yooguyz: you are wrong isaiah28:11-12, 1cor 14:17-22 .some translations quote Isaiah saying "with babbling speech..." (to conote the way toodlers talk wic is gibberish) "...and tongues of other nations"(just d way it was spoken on the day of pentecost..Hence we infer that Paul was talking about 2 kinds of tonguesSo we're back to quoting bible verses out of context to twist their meaning abi? By the way, the verse in Isaiah says "foreign lips and strange tongues". Let me break it down for you: Hindustani is foreign speech. The click language of the San people is a strange tongue. What you born again people are mumbling is meaningless nonsense. There is a clear and obvious difference. I don't know whether you've been reading the Rétarded Standard Version or you have a problem with reading and comprehension. Bible misinterpretation fail! |
mygirrl: You cannot say that someone is speaking rubbish just because what you can hear is gibberish, let God be the judge after all it is him we are trying to communicate with. I remember the first day I ever spoke in tongues. I told God that I don't want to talk rubbish but that he should make me know that it is indeed from him. I remember we were told to lift up our hands and just talk to Jesus, while I was saying thank you Father for a beautiful day and so on, suddenly a very powerful but light wind/force pushed me to the ground, I started rolling and when I opened my mouth to say you are the alpha and the omega a different language came out. It felt as if my tongue was loosed and I started talking I kept on speaking in this strange language for over an hour. If I try to speak in English, a different language will come outYour subjective experience is proof of nothing. Hysteria and adrenalin can be a powerful combination. In any case whatever you felt doesn't change the fact that you're mumbling gibberish. To prove me wrong, all you have to do is find a person speaking in tongues in a language (ancient or modern) that skeptics like me can identify and verify. And no, an old ibo woman praying in English even though she claims she can't speak it doesn't count. Show me a YouTube video of a Mongolian speaking Efik and maybe we'll talk. |
When I was a kid, this was one of my first clear clues that Christianity was a crock of bullshít. The tongues people were speaking were clearly just gibberish. And I never once heard anybody speak in a real, known language, which is what Acts of the Apostles was clearly talking about. I kept looking for someone who'd start speaking Cantonese or some other foreign tongue. Instead, all I kept hearing was "rabababa mamamama shokoraba" Even a 10 year old can tell the difference between a strange language and gibberish. How other Christians fail to realize this is beyond me. None are so blind as those who refuse to see. |
ijawkid: This is my problem with you guys....have you espoused the bible for its accuracy when facts concerning the shape of the earth and its positioning arises??....You cant deduce any useful information just from reading the bible. It is not possible to infer the shape of the earth from the book of Daniel alone. If you only follow the "bible laws on hygiene and nothing else, half of your kids would have died of diarrhoea before their fifth birthday. The "scientific facts" in the bible consist entirely of vague, nonspecific statements whose scientific interpretations are as a result of twisting the meaning until it slightly resembles a scientific theory that has already been deduced by secular means. You can't just take something that someone has discovered and claim after the fact that it was in the bible all along. If it was already there, how come nobody knew before? You are basically doing the same cheap stunt TB Joshua pulls whenever he claims to have predicted whatever big disaster happens to be in the news. If you want to really prove that the bible has real, useful information in it, then you'll need to derive a new, original theory by doing nothing else but studying the scripture. Then you need to test that new theory through formal experimentation to show that it has merit. Until then, the scientific community will continue to take you as seriously as it takes TB Joshua. |
ijawkid: They'll(atheist) blind fold there eyes to this scientific facts in the bible.....Is this sarcasm? One quick question. How come the "all knowing god" never told his chosen people to boil their water before drinking it? Imagine how many millions of lives he could have saved with this simple instruction. How come all the "scientific" laws in the bible were things that were obvious and well known to ancient peoples? Like "only shít outside the camp" (even ancient people didn't like the smell of shít). Or keep those with contagious diseases separate from the rest of the people (duh!). And why all the misogynistic rules against menstruating women? What's the scientific basis for that? |
Image123:Now this is tough. Logicboy has pointed out that there is clear statistical evidence that atheism is positively correlated with higher intelligence and higher education. But then, you've said that you're so much smarter that all atheists and you like to defecate on them. You can't possibly be lying, or a self deluded, blowhard with fantasies of having a brain. One of you must be right, but who? I guess I believe your anecdotal claim over real evidence. After all, everybody knows that the words of random internet braggarts are the highest form of proof. |
Reyginus: Lol. What are you doing? Are you throwing my question back to me or what?Heisenberg's principle only tells us that by observing an event we have automatically affected it's outcome. It doesn't stop us from anticipating such effects and accounting for them. Modern physicists have found plenty of ways to work around uncertainty. You seem to think that the Uncertainty Principle means that we can never know what is happening at subatomic scales which is rubbish. I advise you to go and read your secondary school physics textbook (I recommend Okeke) before you post again so that you at least have a clue what you're talking about. |
I dropped out of the thread for a a day or two and look what has happened. Some rètards have gotten it into their heads that they can refute the big bàng theory even though they don't even have a basic understanding of what it means or how it was arrived at. Reading Nairaland these days is like watching the Jerry Springer show. You sit down, laugh at the crazy people and thank the FSM that you're not one of them. |
wiegraf: Woot, just a single mutation? Interesting how that alone can make drastic changes. Like a minor version of the butterfly effect. The math is interesting as well. I suppose whoever I was quoting meant it became prevalent in a population 4x. Then again, iirc it was a famous, or rather infamous, 'biologist' in these here parts (fire and brimstone I now expect). Thanks for clearing that up.If I remember my pathology right, the mutation is in the 6th codon. CTC (Glutamic acid) gets changed to CAC (Valine). Valine has a different charge which slightly changes the way the molecule folds allowing the resulting abnormal Haemoglobin molecules to polymerize and form crystals within the red blood cells and also affects the oxygen carrying ability. The polymerized hemoglobin forces the red blood cells into weird, rigid shapes and these abnormal RBCs then proceed to wreak all kinds of havoc in the body. That's the short version of the pathophysiology of Sicle cell disease. Sorry about all the double posts btw. Opera Mini and rubbish internet are a bad combination. |
The whole bible story is wrong. It never happened. Africans are not included in it because the middle eastern people who made it up weren't familiar with black people so they didn't include us in their mythology. You might as well believe that Obatala created the world with a bag of soil and a five toed chicken. That story has just as much merit as the one in the bible. |
