coolpapa:I'm not going to respond to your insults, but you haven't addressed the point I made: 1. Signing this bill has zero political cost for GEJ. Its not that he's bending over backwards to do this, this just a routine, standard bill. I don't see what the big deal is. 2. It wasn't even his administration's initiative, some international agencies pressured the government to pass this. 3. Signing this bill and making a big fanfare about it just a few days to the election looks like a cheap political stunt. I'm not a fan of GEJ. His whole career has been characterized by mediocrity, he hasn't impressed in the past 1 year and he's backed by all the most corrupt people. Despite all this I'm still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. All he has to do is convince me that he's no longer dobaleing for Obasanjo, IBB, Anenih and the countless other corrupt people in the PDP. I don't support him, but unlike you I can still keep an open mind. I don't know about you people, but I'm sick and tired of the way this country has been run for the past 12 years. GEJ has less than a week to convince me that things can change under him. And he's not succeeding so far. |
I'm not convinced. It's election time and signing this costs him nothing. Let him sign the Freedom of Information Act and then we'll talk. When he actually does something to inconvenience the PDP looters, I'll start to reconsider my opinion of him as an empty-headed sockpuppet. |
Without a doubt, the PDP governors are going to try and rig. While they're travelling around "monitoring" on election day, they'll be snaching ballot boxes, intimidating the voters, the INEC officials, and using any means necessary to cheat their corrupt party back into power. Its up to us, the ordinary Nigerians to stop them. We have to fight any attempt to to rig. We need people to get to the polling station early, stay till the end and monitor the counting process. We need to double-check the results we saw at our respective polling stations with the ones announced at Abuja. We need to film any suspicious activities with our camera-phones. If you manage to film any criminal acts, post it on YouTube with your email address so that opposition party lawyers can contact you for the election tribunals. We have to take pictures of the results tallies from our local polling stations. We need to fight off the thugs that will try to snatch the ballot boxes when they see that PDP is losing. Some of us will get injured, maybe even killed; but that's the cost of freedom. Its better to die o your feet than to live on your knees. |
bk.babe97y:No, don't do that. Explain to the man why he's wrong and maybe you can convert him and others like him. By insulting them you just make them more stubborn and less open to reason. Let's try and keep things civil and rational. And also, don't feed trolls. |
Its camera phones and the internet that are going to save this country. Soon, it will be impossible to hide the government's crimes. Like the mass murdering policemen during the Boko Haram crisis, all the vote riggers will be exposed on YouTube. Everyone should take their phones with them to the polling booths. Film anything suspicious and post it on the internet. Take pictures of the result sheets. Don't let anybody intimidate you. Ignore the re.tar.ded IGP. Don't let them get away with anything. |
Job security is the degree of confidence you can have that you'll not lose your job due to matters beyond your control. For instance, if your child is sick and you can't spend a day with him in hospital for fear of being sacked then you lack job security. On the other hand, if you are a corrupt, incompetent leader of an african country with a bovine slowpoke for a wife and you constantly say senseless and embarassing things on national TV and yet you're still confident of being re-elected, then you have excellent job security. BTW, will someome please post a link? I need to hear him say it for myself |
Here's why GEJ didn't show: 1. He knew NN24 was going to ask hard questions. 2. He couldn't get the questions ahead of time for someone else to answer for him. 3. He knows that he is not very bright despite his PhD. I'm sure his Special Adviser for Thinking about Confusing Things must have done the math and realized that he was going to be publicly humiliated if he showed up. IMHO dodging that debate is the smartest thing GEJ has done since he became president. |
Based on this debate I think we should vote Kadaria Ahmed (the moderator) for president. The woman did a wonderful job. But seriously, this was a really low quality debate. Other than Shekarau, the candidates didn't really help their cases. Nuhu Ribadu was so vague about everything and didn't really say anything of substance. And Buhari was basically talking nonsense throughout. I didn't agree with a lot of the stuff Shekarau said but at least he showed he understood the issues and his plans were the most detailed and logical of all three candidates. Also, his answers on healthcare and the Jos crisis were simply brilliant. Jonathan is also a winner here as he has escaped the comprehensive disgrace he would surely have recieved if he had shown his face. |
Sony Releases Firmware version 3.60 Sony released a new version of the PS3 firmware yesterday bringing the version number to 3.60. The new firmware adds the ability to save your games to Sony's servers for those who have a Playstation Plus subscription as well as minor usability changes and probably some security patches. This is a big deal because most of the major PS3 hackers have been waiting for this version to come out before releasing new custom firmwares. Very little energy was spent trying to hack version 3.56 since a new version was expected soon. Hopefully, we'll see more CFWs coming out in the next few weeks. In the meantime, I advise that nobody upgrade yet as you will lose the ability to run your backups. More updates as I get them. |
4llerbuntu:11.04 is going to be a critical version of Ubuntu. If they mess up with this Unity thing, a lot of people are going to jump ship to Linux Mint. They've already lost most of their popularity in the Linux community because of all the recent controversy over Unity/Gnome shell, X/Weyland and that annoying thing with the close button. My patience is already worn thin because of the poor hardware support even though I know its not their fault. I keep having to use windows because my HP 3-in-1 printer can't scan in Linux and the Canon I use at work doesn't work at all. I'm tired of dual booting. Ubuntu was supposed to make Linux relevant enough to force the hardware companies to support it. It looks like the dream is fading. |
ritchboy:Fisolucci just gave me Marvel vs Capcom this evening. Three words: Oh! My! GAWD!!! The game is crazy! I wish I lived in a developed country so I could give Capcom my money for this. They are actually making me feel guilty for pirating. |
Now playing Marvel vs Capcom 3 courtesy of my guy Fisolucci http://fisolucci.com/ps3unlocking. The game is insane. 9.5/10 ibro911:@ibro911 Sorry I just saw this. I'm not usually on yahoo messenger but you could mail me at lesfuq@yahoo.com. I'm ready to learn sir. |
To clarify what dadonda wrote above: While most games are larger than FAT32's 4 GB file limit, the backups are actually made up of thousands of smaller files which are all usually less than that size. Only very large games like Uncharted 2 and GOW 3 have individual files larger than 4GB and those can only be played from the internal HDD. Remember, a FAT32 folder can be as large as you want as long as all the individual files within it are less than 4GB. I hope that clears things up. Also while the the PS3 doesn't presently support NTFS, some hackers are presently working on adding it. It'll be funny if a bunch of hobbyists can produce better firmwares than the highly paid Sony programmers. |
Are any of the PDP incumbents attending debates? Many of them have good reason to avoid direct questioning. I'd love to see Ribadu take on GEJ. Lets see if that Ph.D has any value. |
Missed it but I hear that JK Randle refused to shake BRF's hand afterwards. If its true then shame on him. That kind of childish, petulant behavior is unbecoming of a leader. A mature man should offer his hand no matter what. Not that he has any hope of winning anyway. |
In non piracy related news, hackers have succeeded in returning the Linux operating system to the PS3. The new PS3 Linux (known as asbestOS) gives you full access to the system's powerful Cell CPU and the RSX graphics coprocessor. Because of this, its much better than the Other OS feature that Sony stu.pidly removed a year ago leading eventually the total hacking of the console's security. Work on enabling NTFS support on flash drives and external HDDs is also at an advanced stage. The genius largely responsible for this breakthrough (graf_chokolo) just had his house raided by police and is now being sued by Sony for $1,000,000. Nobody is sure what the legal basis of this is as the guy hasn't broken any laws and has never been involved in piracy. Apparently any sufficiently large corporation can hire the police as a private army to harass people who are doing things that they don't like. If any of you are thinking of building a PS3 based supercomputing cluster, now would be a good time to start. And please remember to say a prayer for graf. |
ibro911:There's already a way to reverse the ban (you can change the console's serial number) and easier solutuins are in he pipeline. There is really nothing Sony can do at this point. That's because the hack is not actually a hack. It uses Sony's legit security key. Because of this, it is theoretically possible to get round any and all new security measures Sony implements short of releasing new hardware and replacing all their current game disks. In any case if you are so worried then just stay off PSN until there's a foolproof solution. Its very simple. |
*Cougar*:Nonsense. If I ever decide that I want to go legit, it will take less than 15 minutes to remove the jailbreak and install the latest firmware. Besides, the hacker devs have already figured out a reliable way to play online with the jailbreak. Your arguement is invalid. |
Ladies, ladies. Lets not fight. Peace and love. And lets try and stay on topic. kengeorge:I bought my PS3 and a legit copy of FIFA 11 hoping to play online. The day before I got a swift modem, Sony updated their firmware and banished me from PSN forever. I am disapoint! |
pinkysegun:The update is only compulsory if you want to use the PlayStation Network (i.e. to play online games). The PS3 can't update by itself, it may remind you but you have do update it yourself. If you don't use PSN (and Nigerian internet is too slow to use it anyway), then you don't need to update. I have an internet connection and I haven't updated mine since. Don't worry. |
Ozin:An increase that came at the expense of the country's long-term stability. Nigeria is almost bankrupt because recurrent expenditure is so high. The only thing that increase show is that Jonathan cannot make the hard decisions. He should be reducing the size of government and trying to save money. Instead he's doing the opposite. This kind of short-sighted populist nonsense is what started the economic meltdown of the 1980s. Check your secondary school econs textbook if yo don't believe me. tolerance of opponentAs shown by his "Rascals" speech. You've conveniently forgotten the childish way he and his people tried to frame IBB for the Eagle's Square bomb blasts. and respect for the rule of lawYou mean he has locked up all his corrupt PDP friends? When did that happen? What about strenghtening INEC to organise a free and fair election? This is same the president that tried to manipulate the electoral act to favour him. To his credit, he appointed someone who isn't a well known thief to head INEC but we can't give him any credit until after the elections are held and the results announced. Don't forget that we once thought Maurice Iwu was honest as well. You GEJ supporters should keep trying. Today I'm like Peter Rufai in his prime! |
steroid:Not an achievement. You might as well give him an award because Aso Villa hasn't burned down during his reign. four airlines (Arik, Continental, Delta and United), with direct flights from the United States (US)This is due to agreements that were signed long before GEJ became president. Also, this has little or no effect on the lives of average Nigerians. five functional international airports.Nigeria has 2 major international airports: Lagos and Abuja. The others were barely functional before and are barely functional now. There has'nt been any change that I'm aware of. Please correct me if I'm wrong. the reopening of three textile mills in Kaduna that had previously been closed including the United Nigeria Textile Mills Ltd.; which has reopened as a result of accessing funds from the N200 billion textile industry bail out funds leading to the re engagement of 2000 workers that were laid off when the company went out of business.Throwing taxpayers' money at failing businesses is not an achievement. By next tomorrow, the money will have finished and its back to square one. What has he done to address the fundamental economic problems that caused the companies to close? You need to go and dig out your secondary school economics textbook. addition of one new Federal University in each of the six geo-politcal zones for which work has already begun. The six new federal universities did not exist last yearUniversities that exist only on paper. Do you actually believe the promises of a PDP politician? Have you already forgotten about the 10,000 Megawatts? Besides, Nigeria has more than enough universities. What has he done to fix the ones we have already. I suspect that the new schools are more about fooling gullible voters and creating contracts for his PDP friends. Sorry, but you can't convince anybody with this flimsy nonsense. Maybe you should talk about the amazing improvement in electricity supply, or the sharp fall in maternal and infant mortality. Or the fact that he has locked up all the corrupt politicians. Or the increased peace and security all over the country. Except that you can't because Jonathan hasn't achieved anything in any of the areas that Nigerians actually care about. |
ndukwejoe:So you are saying that despite the mounting evidence of Jonathan's misrule you are still blindly following him? The guy is from the most corrupt party, is backed by all the most corrupt politicians. He never once complained when his former oga was robbing Bayelsa State blind. He never spoke against all the corruption happening around him during Yar'Adua's administration. And he is now wastefully spending our money at a rate that will surely bankrupt us in a few short years. What else do you want before you're convinced? Are you waiting to see him bite off a baby's head on NTA news? You've decided in your mind that GEJ is a "nice guy" and you're now actively ignoring all the evidence to the contrary. It is people like you that are delaying the change that Nigeria desperately needs. You need to wake up and face reality. It is the ability to follow logic that separates us from animals. |
Already heard of this. There's also a new 3.56 spoof program you can combine with it. Haven't tried it because I don't really care about PSN with my rubbish internet connection. But I'm worried that Sony may still be able to detect your hacked software. The PS3 sends Sony your info whether or not you you log in to PSN or not so they may still ban you later. Your best bet is to stay offline for now. |
pinkysegun:The jailbreak is real. Read my Official PS3 Jailbreak Thread on the Gaming front page if you want to learn how to do it. Be careful sha, follow the instructions exactly. If you don't know what you're doing you can easily destroy your console permanently. You've been warned! If you live in Lagos and you want someone to do it for you, try visiting http://fisolucci.com/ps3unlocking You'll need to pay some money, but the guy has a good reputation and a very large selection of games. Cheers. |
25omega:You'll need to jailbreak your PS3 and install a backup manager to play downloaded games. Read my Official PS3 Jailbreak Thread (check the gaming section front page) for full instructions. Its a bit risky if you're not sure what you're doing. You could easily destroy your PS3 permanently so be careful. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself then you should contact my guy fisolucci at http://fisolucci.com/ps3unlocking And remember that piracy is a crime. Try it and the FBI will surely arrest you. Cheers. |
Xavier.:I've said it before and I'll say it again. After the last 12 years, anybody who willingly votes for the PDP needs to have his head examined. |
k9ine:I agree. Also, you can't really compare Nigeria with the U.S. The American system was designed specifically to prevent the type of nonsense we're seeing in Libya and Nigeria. Principles like free speech, freedom of association, assembly and the right to bear arms were put in their constitution to prevent the government from becoming tyrannical. In America, the next general election is never more than 2 years away allowing the people to punish an unpopular government quickly. Because of this, the American government has never been as corrupt or as useless as ours is now. The Nigerian system is like Americans' bas.tard stepchild. Many of the checks and balances have been removed allowing for strange things to happen like the ridiculous salaries legislators earn. The end result is a dictatorship in all but name. Have no doubt that if Nigerians gathered in significant numbers in Abuja to call for the president's resignation, the police would teargas, horsewhip and probably shoot at them. The Libyan system is even worse, It's actually a dictatorship by design. I really don't blame them for trying to get rid of that Ghadaffi guy. They should have done it 20 years ago. May God grant them success. All of us should be cheering them on. For all we know we could be doing the same thing in a few years time. |
marvix:I'm a doctor and I can tell you that there is no justification for three healthy people to have 6 full time doctors attending to them. And in a country like Nigeira were we have a serious shortage of doctors it is even more morally reprehensible. Also, the personal physician to the physician (who has the rank of a special adviser) definitely does not consult in the Aso Rock staff clinic. Only junior medical officers do that (I happen to know one of them.) This propaganda does nothing to Jonathans ability to serve this nation properlyOf course it does! What are you saying? , I still remember that it was \Yaradua who came up publicly to announce that the salaries of personal aides in the villa and himself and his ministers all took a salary cut including his aidesYou haven't addressed the main issue: Why does Jonathan need 133 aides? Why does he have 2 tailors on full time pay to sow his clothes? What does he use his massive salary for? And why the hell does his wife have even 1 government paid aide. Is she a government official? Are we now going to be appointing aides for the presidential dog? Or the presidential head-lice? I feel you're only supporting GEJ because of blind fanboyism, ethnicity or some other parochial reason. You need to wake up and smell the bad odour. Your country's future is at stake. |
Nsiman:No, he should use his salary to pay for his own clothes like the rest of us do. There is no justification for having full time staff to sow one man's clothes or any of this other nonsense. The fact that you can argue about that is amazing to me. If i am the one, i will have 7 personal physicians to test whatever is to get into my system starting from water and 5 physicians for my check-upsI hope you are never in a position of public trust then. People like you and Jonathan are the cancer that is killing Nigeria. |
