PoliticsRe: What Do You Understand By Stealing Is Not Corruption? by Excellent7(m): 2:19pm On Dec 07, 2014
I am somewhat confused after reading through the posts.
Can someone kindly make a very clear distinction between stealing and corruption for me.
It may be good to use previous administrations/officers as examples.
I am even more confused by the declaration of Abacha as not corrupt (by Babangida and Buhari), yet funds are being returned to Nigeria from different domains. (for my source(s) see below)
In the light of this I think the Nigerian ruling elite have their own perception of stealing and corruption.
To me however, though they might have different definitions, in practice I think they are more often than not interwoven.

"Two former heads of state and a military president yesterday rose in stout defence of their late colleague, Gen. Sani Abacha. The former rulers are Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, and Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, who served in the Abacha regime as chairman of the defunct Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) declared that there was no basis for accusing Abacha of corruption."

Diamond Management are so damn lucky to have concluded their rights issue before this deluge.

many stocks are reaching and passing their 1year low
Oga one year what !!!
Please cross-check from ft.com, where you can view up to 5 years price history.
You will see that a good number of even "fundamentally good" stocks are now hovering around their prices in late 2012/early 2013.
Two year low is more like it.

embarassed embarassed embarassed this is worst than 2008 and unfortunately my analog broker couldn't sale for me.
I agree with you.
The companies in the present case have much better valuations than in 2008, yet the market is moving down down down.
I do not think the problem is from your broker.
We can see many offers for a lot of stocks but no bids.
It seems everybody is trying to exit the market at the same time, so there are many sellers but few buyers.

Selling off my UBA after enduring 28% loss, not doing long term again
Oga do you think it can get much worse? I mean another minus 28% will bring it to 3.36 NGN?
I can not even honestly answer the question, when I see the current supersonic downward trend of FBNH, Access and even Oando.
Just look at 7up taking a pounding
This is a super bear market!! Blood everywhere!!!

The circles being drawn around this is making me uncomfortable.
Though I do not want to bail at a loss, I am thinking of bailing as soon as it greens with respect to my averaged entry point.

I recommend Morgan Capital because I am cool with their services.
Transfers to my stockbroking account reflect online for me to trade with a lot of times less than 3 hours!
Evacuation of funds from stockbroking account has been achieved in less than 48 hours after making the request.
Account statement can be printed or exported in pdf.

Disclosure: I have an account with them but not a staff or shareholder.

Seriously exposed to UBA (I dey fear fear on this stock) and Zenith (No qualms on this, i bought @ N22.69 and i know it'll climb up soon). My advice - If you have bank stocks, pls don't do panic SELL and incur LOSSES, when their result start trickling in, the tide will surely reverse irrespective of the Looming IPO. Cowboys will def shoot up the price and fix a good IPO price. E.G. If FBNH decide today aspa right issues, it can't be less than N12+
Don't be to so sure!
This market as I see it has become one crazy bitch!!
With the way I am saying it, many stocks are going to go below their year lows pretty soon.
Folks should be careful of falling knives (until they are on the ground) grin

Most Stocks are crashing, and many will soon join, I stated this about few months ago. Pls do not expect the bull soon, but till after election, in fact next month crash will be worst.
Perhaps in addition to traders fleeing to cash positions, the politicians are liquidating their positions to "prosecute" their political "games".
I agree with you that the bearish season will be around for a while.

For me I expect cautious trading until some positive news ( better Q3 results or conclusion of the acquisition) to drive sentiments.

http://thecitizenng.com/company-review/skye-bank-losing-profit-on-rising-credit-losses-falling-earnings/Digest this facts to avoid been a sucker for this weaker stock.Though u can still play a smart poker game on this if u got in at #2.60.This stock is an overlook thing for me so I don't care if it get to #5 because i'm not convinced in it.
@ Imanuello
I have a contrary opinion (especially if one is willing to play for medium term (12-18 months)).
No doubt the company is having a had time converting revenue to earning, but I do not see this as unsurmountable. Comparing it with peers, I see some value. Also checkout the last paragraph on this link and see the asset valuation per share.
http://thecitizenng.com/company-review/skye-bank-fails-to-grow-revenue-lowers-cost-to-grow-profit/

"The bank earned N1.21 per share in 2013, improving from 95 kobo per share in the preceding year. Net assets per share has also improved from N8.09 to N9.11 during the same period. The bank has proposed a cash dividend of 30 kobo per share against 50 kobo per share it paid in the preceding year. The closure date for the company register and payment date are yet to be announced."

I agree however that there are other opportunities in the NSE!

Disclosure: I have Skye in my portifolio
