and yes there have always been gay whatever but in what age and time has it reached a scandalous height as in ours...all sins and moral decadence have always been but at what time has it received so much society recognition and less of retribution than in our age?Yet another untruth... The Greeks institutionalized homosexuality...Boys were effectively raped in Ancient Greece, and it was accepted as part of the culture, as a necessity almost...Those who didn't partake were considered an oddity...your claim that homosexuality has received more recognition than at any other time in history is candidly wrong... Hating someone because of their sexuality is ignorant...but it always strikes me how many Christians choose to ignore what they claim Jesus said about judging others... |
gay marriage, gay babiesMaybe it's just me but it seems as though Christians are taught to blow the whole 'gay' issue out of proportion... There have always been homosexuals in every society, it's just that nowadays it's not acceptable to presecute them... I'm sure there are far worse goings on than a few same-sex couples...for example illegal wars started by so-called Christian Presidents... |
not because i was born into it because no man is born in the flesh into christso you weren't "encouraged" by your family to go to church, learn about "God" etc ![]() |
I refuse to believe that no one here has any input on this topic... |
I don't think that you should go back to your ex, at least, I wouldn't if I were in your position... At the same time I hope you didn't get engaged out of desperation... |
Yes, I have...every last word...and I cannot, to this day, understand what it is that makes this one book so much more relevant than all the others... Why the question? |
Who's to say that they were false? Back to the initial point though; to say that people will attempt to corrupt an idea doesn't really sound like much of a prediction to me... Do you have a more specific example of a Biblical prophecy that is happening today ![]() |
But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. To be honest with you goodguy the way this is written sounds as if Peter was talking about something that was going on at the time... Either way, it really isn't much of a prediction, he's effectively saying that people will argue amongst themselves...I could quite easily do that and I would never claim to be the man of any supreme being... Do you believe that this is a particularly masterful prophecy? Why did you choose this 'prophecy'? |
i continue to laugh at how man has hunged to untrue and far-fetched work of other humans, humans who themselves have considerable doubts in their own very workYou keep making these statements, apparently without irony... |
Why do you assume I haven't read the Bible when that isn't what I said ![]() I have read the Bible, all of it, which is why I don't usually waste my time talking about what is in it... As for your claim that God put a stop to evolution, I do not recall reading anything that would even allude to that, nor have I heard anyone ever teach this...not even creationists... What was it that you read/heard that led you to think that God suddenly stopped evolution ![]() p.s. Do you honestly think that if people read the Bible they will believe everything it says and suddenly become Christians ![]() |
my apologies goodguy... i've read through a few of those but why don't you choose your favourite "fulfilled prophecies" and we can talk about those ones... |
Which prophesies are being fulfilled that you speak of, layi ![]() Didn't Nostradamus also 'prophecy' accurately (though vaguely) the events of the future ![]() |
lady c, you're gonna have to give me a while to get back to you on your points... thanks for taking the time out to answer my question... |
i apologise if it appears that people are targeting Christianity... however, i don't know which people you're referring to when you speak of those who bring the Bible into question but I'm pretty sure there are more outrageous and questionable goings on mentioned within the Bible that people could exploit... The Ark story doesn't even feature in my list of important but questionable Biblical stories because the idea that a man could predict a local storm/flood and build an Ark is feasible... |
Thanks for not dodging the question . |
Do you really believe that because one part of a story (the existance of the ark) is said to have been proven to be true that the rest of the Bible is also true ![]() Is that what you believe? |
I don't really know how a boat proves the existence of a higher power... |
It is amazing how we guzzle what a fellow human saidIsn't it just... Someone tells you that 'god' told them to write it and you automatically believe them... p.s. I'd appreciate it if you would share the proof that 'delineates the origins of the Bible'... Thanks... |
there are evidence to show that no human mind could conceive the writings of the bible
what evidence? Yes there is scientific proof that evolution happens...but trying to place modern day science on an even keel with Middle-Eastern mythology is ridiculous... I'm really interested to hear what you have to say and also who told/taught you all this 'knowledge'... Thanks... |
So now you're saying that Christianity isn't a religion...HAHAHAHAHAHAHA (sorry) The whole purpose council in Antioch was so that the Christians could get their story straight and rope in other sheep. p.s. If you wanted to say that God dictated the Bible to the people who wrote it, then why not just say that How would you know whether the Bible was written 'under the influence of God' or not? |
If I've made an incorrect statement then feel free to correct me. |
I've noticed this about people who subscribe to religious 'beliefs': Whenever a question is posed to them that they cannot answer about the doctrine that they follow, usually an inconsistency, they like to fall back on one of two lines: 1) "It's a question of faith" 2) "How can the clay question the potter" This isn't a question of the 'clay' questioning the potter this is man questioning his fellow man. It was man who wrote the Bible and made all the religious laws. It was man who created the mythology behind every religion. So, in conclusion when faced with a question that you cannot answer, instead why not just say "I don't know" or doesn't the Church allow that ![]() |
What exactly does this mean, that God made man "in is own image" ![]() Does this mean that man was once perfect, or that God is not faultless ![]() Or is the Bible simply talking about physical attributes ![]() OR; is it simply untrue, a mistake by the writer ![]() Thanks for your time. |
According to the bible, there was a world before the world of Adam. This is the world in which evoluation was in process. This world however, was destroyed and turned upside down by God. God then put a stop to the process of evolution.i don't usually waste my time delving into biblical discussions, however i'm pretty sure that there is nothing in the book of Genesis that even alludes to a world before...or of a 're-creation' of Earth...or any of the other things of claim... God put a 'stop' to evolution? Wow

|
@layi: you say that many people have received miracles because of 'faith', but what about the many who inexpicably survive a horrific accident or recover from a terminal illness who do not believe in a higher power ![]() miracles are simply things that cannot be explained by modern day science...science does not claim to have all the answers... there may or may not be a 'god' figure behind them, science cannot prove that there isn't and religious doctrine has failed to prove that there is... |
Isn't it possible that they are the same because one (Islam) 'borrowed' from the other (Christianity) which is in itself a byproduct of yet another (Judaism)? |
maybe it's me but all that stuff about drug resistance seems pretty 'off-topic' ... |
it is possible to be very well educated and still be misguided/misinformed... |
Yes, but I'd prefer if we made better use of some of the brilliant minds we have and improve the economy in other ways... e.g. information technology pharmaceuticals financial sector |
i know that this will cause offence but... Fear appears to be the definitive feeling when people talk about unsubstantiated religious 'belief'. It's unsuprising, considering a lot of people have been taught, from birth, that if they refuse to conform and accept said 'beliefs' then they will spend an eternity in 'hell'; supposedly an unimaginably horrid place (made by an all loving God?). The other issue (that I can think of now) regarding fear is that those who refuse the religion of those around them could be ostracised... |
@Wesley, I think you underestimate the amount of money in Nigeria...Yes there is widespread poverty but there are probably more people than you think who are financially ok... @kode, I was talking about population growth...You can't honestly believe that the current rate of growth is conducive to a healthy economy in future ![]() |
What does Islam say about the nature of Allah? How does he compare to the Christian notion of an all loving and yet all powerful 'father figure'? Also where did the those who wrote the Koran get their sources on Jesus from? I'll probably think of some more later... Good post by the way. |
