Ayee Idris: Those of you saying that all the hate is a true reflection of how Nigerians truly feels could not be more wrong. Am an edo girl married to a yoruba boy and two of my best oldest friends for whom I can take a bullet for are igbos also happily married to yorubas.I worked with over 40 people from different parts of Nigeria and not a single one cared where u are from, as long as u have a good attitude. I know all these people spewing hate in reality have friends that are either igbo or yoruba, so why come here and insult yourselves. Its sad to read.I don't doubt your story of inter -marriage and lovey-kissey mingle, after all most Tutsis were married to Hutus and had lived and ate from the same bowl for generations, but they were the first to take them out of their houses and slaughtered them in the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. Many of the rulers of Nigeria that promoted inhuman decrees like educational disadvantage/advantage area were married to Igbo women like Babangida,, but that never stopped them. Many Germans are married to the English and so does many Irish marrying the English during those bombing years. So, never you mind about people that find love and fall into it. Its a natural process, but that doesn't diminish the fact that tribal hate/bigotry is real and alive in Nigeria and beyond. If you wants to live in fools paradise, that is up to you, but my worry for you is this: You might learn the hard way one day. And that day, you will know that not all that glitters are gold. I don't know how old you are and how long you had followed football, because if you are old enough, you will know that it was Igbo vs Yoruba through tribal hate/rivalry of IICC vs Rangers that had hampered Nigeria from qualifying for the world cup for many years until Westerhoff arrived and aligned with the Igbo gang led by Okechukwu Keshi. Go and ask your father what happened in the final of Kaduna "77 football event between old Oyo state vs old Anambra state? Ask your father what happened when Rangers knocked out IICC from cup winners cup in 1977 semi final and Shooting stars were the defending champions, having won it in 1976. Ask your uncle what happened to Iwuanyanwu Nationale in 1988 cup of champions when they were force to play their semi finals at the Adamasimgba stadium Ibadan? Too many of you actually knew very little about your country Nigeria and it makes me chuckle sometimes. . |
curtain: THOUGH AM A LOOTER, BUT BUHARI NEVER U CLAIM HOLIER THAN ME-IBB. Buhari's silence is a tacit acquiscence that his infamous attitude hinges on a hidden secret known by few. Howeva, ptf aside, it is obvious that someone is scaming the northern governors by using boko haram to threaten states that their governors wuld not pay boko tax or bring financial contribution. buhari had always claimed dat abacha is a honest man and did not loot frm nig, the discovery of the ova 5billion pounds, looted by abacha confirms wat honesty means to buhari. The FG has only recently recieved 500million dollars stashed away in switzerland by abacha. I wonder wat intention buhari has in sheilding criminals like abacha, the same abacha's son who used his fathers loot to finance buharis 2011 campaign, afta which he refused gubernitorial ticket unda cpc. I doubt if buhari wil eva reply ibb.He doesn't have any need to reply IBB. You don not accused a person or spread out innuendo and then asked the accused to produce the evidence of his own guilt. The onus is on the accuser and the innuendo merchants. And you should stop spreading falsehood, just because you don't like the person on hence keep your doubts to yourself. |

My personal inner guts tells me that judging by the Nigerian standard, Buhari is not only clean but un-blemish. The man has stood between few corrupt Nigerians in an election they were desperate to defeat him by all means. Obasanjo is not only a wicked man but a very vindictive person, but saw nothing to hold on to against Buhari when he has every opportunity, motives and means to do so. When IBB showed a little interest against OBJ and they started lifting the carpet through Ribadu, suddenly IBB goes silent and cooled on his ambition of a comeback. Jonathan is surrounded by those that wants to shut up Buhari forever, especially those from the north as him and still they found nothing to go on about against him and had dare them more than once to go out and search anything against him,. Its a typical Nigerian way to hate any sign of a good thing. Nigerians don't like good thing, in fact they prefer their greatest enemies. Its Nigerian way to judge people by their own standard. So I don't find it difficult to believe when they feed on rumours and innuendoes over Buhari. If the man till date, still flys economic class like most of you, lives in a modest house in Daura, of which he has produced the evidence on how the small house was finance from his pension, no evidence of any foreign bank account till date despite OBJ/Ribadu looking but failed attempts. Where is this money he was meant to have stolen and when is he going to spend it at his current age? Replying IBB makes no sense at all, because people like IBB would die to have any mud to stick on Buhari, to justify himself and others like him that everybody is the same. At the same time, you can never say never with human beings, so if any truthful evidence comes of any financial corruption against Buhari name, as usual with me, I won't be thrown out of my chair but I will be very surprised. And I hope to see that day. |
Abagworo: I think our criticisms is starting to have an effect on GEJ and is making him sit up. He is so 100% spot on. State Police will make Governors attain a demi-god status. Why must the governors/Jonathan control the police in the first place, if you are to take it away from their control? Even if Nigeria is addicted to keeping the police in the hands of the executive powers, why not a regional police and lets see how one governor out of seven from a region will abuse what is jointly owed? My take is that Nigerian politicians have only one track mind. If not, why would a governor/state assembly wait for Jonathan to sanction what they can have and what they couldn't in a federation? All they need is for the state assembly to pass it into law, the governor signs it. When the northerners started the sharia law, did they ask or wait for Obasanjo to give his blessings? Our people don't know their rights to start with and that is why a president always sends a governor to go and represent him at a wedding ceremony, instead of telling him to go to hell, the governor will happily go, like a boy-boy. But forgetting that they should be equal partners in governance. |
Super1759: He is absolutely right. Take a look at the state level, what the gov and their workers are doing. they will just use the police as their dogs and force down their decisions. So what if you structured it, so that it won't be under the direct command of the governors? And why can't the federal police be structured away from taking orders from Jonathan? Jonathan has never been a great thinker or a progressive person, a typical product of the establishment. They like keeping things the way they are, no matter what. |
A thread like this makes me smile, not on the positives but the blind hypocrisy of Nigerians. The root of hypocrisy is the inability of a person to face reality. In as much as I try to avoid pure hate filled threads, there is not need preaching about it as if its new. Nairaland is the real reflection of real Nigeria behind the close doors. Its never about what you see on NTA or AIT, Nigerians from top to bottom dislike each other, living inside one single country, but because many are sharing money from other part and others are afraid of what tomorrow will bring if left to fend for self, they pretend and preach a mirage unity. What you read on Nairaland is no different to the mentality of your governors, senators, minister, Perm secs etc, but they do it behind close door and hide it as long as each get his/her daily bread. What you read here is what led Ebitu Ukiwe quits Babangida's govt as number two. This is not unique to Nigeria, If you decide tomorrow to fuse Britain into Germany with France and call it one country and have the capital in either Paris, London or Berlin, the same thing happening on Nairaland will happen there too. I can't just imagine an Englishman voting a German as his leader in a United country. Most of Gordon Brown's problem with the Fleet street press is purely because he is a Scotsman against a blue eyed young Englishman in David Cameron. They tolerated Blair, despite everything because he is one of them, that is reality, though they won't say it openly. If Scotland did not get devolved govt in 1997, what do you think would have become of U.K today? and that itself never stopped the Scots asking to be totally freed from the control of London and even when this two nations shares the same DNA. Compare that to Yoruba/Igbos that has nothing in common except their skin colour (minus the bleached ones) Too much familiarity bring contempt and that is the problem of Nigeria. Why is it that Yorubas are not into the same tribal match with people of Benin republic, their neighbours? why is it that the Igbos are not fighting with the English Cameroon people on a daily basis? They would have if you fuse them together to live on top of each other. Divide Nigeria today and you will be surprise to see how reasonable everyone becomes with each other. Because just like in life you don't know the value of something until you lose it or its far away from you. Please my brothers, stop being hypocrites and pretending that you don't know that what is happening on Nairaland is the undiluted100 percent reflection of the real Nigeria, of which everybody do well to hide on the streets. And the most amazing things is that the poster is often than once, guilty against his own sermon on the web. Comical Nigerians! |
dayokanu: So if companies were not located in the Eastern parts of Nigeria who is to blame for that. I guess Awolowo againListen, the said 20 pounds wasn't a free/gift money to all Easterners as charity. Its about depositors of money in Banks, who has gone to have access their accounts and what was left in their account was a mere 20 pounds, irrespective of how much you lodged or deposited. Even Jewish people got their simple trinkets back from the Nazis , let alone money/gold deposits in a licensed bank in your own country. Location of companies by the British wasn't done by region, especially Lagos in those days, which was never viewed as a regional location, hence Ibadan was the capital of the West. PZ is simply a national company irrespective of where its located, once you acquired it, all its facets are yours, no matter where its factories a located. If you acquires U.S Apple company, it doesn't matter that their 95 percent factories are located in China its still AN INTERNATIONAL FIRM based in the U.S. Some of you should learn how to reason or just read what others are saying if you don't know how this things works. Its better than making comment that makes you look a bit out of place on the issue. |
oduasolja: indigenisation decree was not about transfering ownership of western companies to yorubas outright. it was about allowing all nigerians to buy shares in these companies. these companies were listed on the stock exchange and those who had money bought into them simple and short .How many of this shares did your direct family bought? Assuming an Igbo, Efik, Annang, Ijaw wants to buy, how can they do so when their money in the banks were confiscated/stolen and were given 20 Nigerian pounds? I remembered how powerless people like my father were as they cannot do anything about it, especially in the NTC (Nigerian Tobacco Company Ltd) he had a substantial shares before the war by lost it through this policy. And what was started with this wicked policy was finished by Obasanjo/Justice Ayo Irikife with the Boundary Adjustment and Land Use Decree (Don't even let us go there). How many ordinary Nigerian knew about shares in 1972. It was a policy for the rich Yoruba elite. The northerners turned a blind eyes to it, as they were only interested in political power that gave them the control of the oil. This was the booty of the war- Northerners got power/oil and Yoruba got the foreign localised firms, almost on a free shares. What about the decree that label the East as Educational advantage area? Where by Easterners has a higher cut-off mark in JAMB than any other region because the disadvantaged areas as they called them has to catch up. This drove thousands of Easterners abroad in the 70s to study because they cannot get into Nigerian universities through this policy with scholarship raised through Town Unions and Social Clubs like Omeokachie, The Lord's Club, Club 25 etc. |
HiiiPower: The OP is being disingenuous!I am always amazed on how little many of you knew about Nigeria. That many of you don't know about Awo's quick and speedy indigenization policy of 1972 baffles me. The writer forgot to mention ITT, Barclays, Costain, what is now known as Federal Mortgage Bank etc. That is how the likes of Abiola, Kolade, Oni of Ife, Adeniji Adele and others became overnight millionaires. The companies are not regionalised but almost all of them was headquarter based in Lagos and others renamed after ward or moved afterward. Would you say that there no PZ, UAC factories in Kaduna or Aba just because it head office is based in Lagos? Was Barclays ever, a regionalised bank? Think. This is not a about tribal bashing, as I always try to stay clear of it. This is reality. It happen in 1972 with Awolowo as the minister of finance under Gowon. |
klax: This is just the begining. When Abiola case came up so many shallow thinking human in NL were here fuming like fools but now its turn of Ojukwu let the game begin we are all watching with keen interest. You have to wait until they start fighting first. I think there are big differences between Ojukwu and Abiola case. *Abiola died suddenly by accident and Ojukwu died from a protracted illness, so time was on his side. *Abiola was polygamous family man and Ojukwu isn't. *Abiola has few offspring outside his marriages, so far we don't know of any Ojukwu's outside wedlock child. *Based on what read in the press, Abiola directed that DNA be conducted among all that will claim to be his children, nothing like that so far from Ikemba. *Abiola's will was contested by many of the parties involved. So far we don't know if Ikemba has a will and no mention of a contest to the will from any source till date. |
If a man leads an orderless life, then there should be little surprise that there is chaos after he dies.
What is orderless life and what chaos are you referring to? |
One thing about people commenting on issue is that most people and sometimes almost all contributors doesn't read carefully to understand first what they are commenting on. There was no single place in this article or story, where direct fight over Ikemba's estate was mentioned but it was rather some disagreement over who is the rightful manager of one of his estates by some interested parties to the estate. There is a big difference between the two issue.s I may disagree with the appointed executor of my fathers estate, against the choice of my brother/brothers or a family member, but that doesn't mean that we are fighting over our fathers estates. People shouldn't ignorantly comment on an issue they knew very little about or how it works. Moreover, there is no place in this article anyone was quoted as saying that Ikemba has no will and some people kept saying about not keeping a will over and over. Unless I missed that. Finally, in Igbo tradition and culture, we have what we call inheritance-line will (Ike-oke), where any person born a living person knew from the day he/she was born what he/she inherits from parents, grandparents etc. When my father was alive, I knew exactly what is my personal portion from his estate through my sex, my position in lineage of birth with my brothers/sisters. Many Igbo people rely heavily on this tradition and do not write will because of it. Most do thought, because of the modern law, but in reality, any Igbo family that fight over inheritance, knew nothing about our culture or some greed is driving force behind it all. |
andyanders: That's mostly, one of the problems of polygamy.Ikemba was never at any point in his life, a husband of two women at the same time (a polygamist) unless you don't understand what that word means. |
Thanks you president ordinary person. Who is this we Jonathan spamming about as ordinary people? Who got 38 NTA stations all for himself? Who does hundreds of FRCN stations nationwide works for, if not him? Even some of those media mafians are there at his pleasure, e.g Thisday and its publisher. Give me a break Jonathan!! Please spare us!! |
dayokanu: But we Southerners claim that when northerners rule, they find a way of awarding road contracts and developmental projects to themselves.I agreed one hundred percent on every single point you made. What I was saying is this: Nigeria is structured in such away that looks like their might likely be no Nigeria tomorrow, so going into government meant grabbing as much as you can for yourself and your people, just in case. Jonathan is just following the already existed trend, buoyed by the concept that the majority of the source of cash came from their land. What the heck! Next time a northerner goes in there, the reverse will be the case, while the south will start ranting once again. A revolving door to no end, I call it. |
dayokanu: In the last 3 yrs that means these 4 guys have collected over $100mYou can hardly blame them, as no one knew about basic amenities in the creeks when others had been siphoning the same money for close to 46 years and now its their turn, we are telling them about being reasonable. It doesn't work like that. Wait until its the turn of the Igbos proper, if ever, that is. |
Cyprealo: @Eziachi, good one, they are playing on our intelligenceThey are really indeed courtesy of Nigerians that allowed them. |
Nice talk bro. That's the main reason am against a divided Nigeria.because the same people(who re intersted in their pocket only)will stil be the ones in power in every teritory.
In a divided Nigeria, no one is use the excuse of blaming someone else ever again. The corruption of your sons and daughters becomes your only. A lazy mother will always have an excuse for her kids midnight super if someone else is doing the cooking. Many of you had been brainwashed into this collective failure inside Nigeria. If a single nation that emerged from Nigeria does better than Nigeria, it will be better than this lets keep messing about together. The greatest man's handicapped in all facet of life is always about the fear of the unknown. No man would have used his last/only worth in the world to borrow money to started a business if he is thinking of "what if". You guys should stop using the fear of tomorrow to keep our people inside this pot of hate and no progress. If you kept looking at the rate of divorce as we speak, no young person will ever get married. |
So they now barter and compares their criminals? ![]() ACN: Okupe must go, he is a criminal. PDP: He is going nowhere, your criminals are bigger criminals than our criminals. ACN: How can you say that when one of your grand criminal,s Bode George just came out of Kirikiri and our grand Tinubu, only warmed the court bench? PDP: Okay, let me think, I knew you must have some criminals hiding in your cupboard. ACN: While your messing your brain thinking, I will give you another name-Ibori. PDP: Damn! I didn't see that one coming. OK! What about Atiku? He was your member. OBJ indicted him! ACN: You fool! Atiku was only a member of AC and not ACN. PDP: And whats the difference? ACN: AC is a reincarnation of AG, UP and AC, which means, strictly western as it always comes with 2 alphabets, its now strictly Nigerian i.e 3 alphabets, moreover, Atiku has returned to where he belonged. PDP: And where does he belong? ACN: To the den of criminals and killers-PDP PDP: You are not going to win this argument, I am sending for Okupe and Abati. Reno Omokri is already on his way. ACN: Alright then! Lai Mohammed will be my backup in that case. |
Whats all this noise about paying the militant from the something that come from their land in the first place but you guys don't have any qualms with oil well Sheiks from west to the north? What is the difference between the likes of Otedola and the aforementioned names? |
Obukoogene: you that is writing that our president should declare his asset, have you declare yours? look the shit wey dey your ass before you look another person own or remove the plank that is in your eyes so that you will be able to see another's ownNo he hasn't because he is not an elected president. No brainer there. That Sirleaf boy must be born in a wrong country. How he wished he was born in Nigeria, he would have been promoted to the position of permanent secretary. |
Epalos: He does not need to be an ibo, ibos souls belong to the highest bidderAnd who are the Igbo soul bidders and buyers? |
dougivilla: was'nt d creek considered unsafe when true walk-d-talk leaders of d ND region took d bull by d horn? I reapeat it was not d police, sss, Nia, navy, custom or what have u dat made d amnesty happen. U may wish to proove me wrong. Plus nobody has said or implied that these agencies should be scrapped 4 any reason ....and what makes boko haram faceless? Unless the lectures u gave above were written by someone 4 u. U come across as quite intellegent and i do not expect the simple point of view i av been expressing to be 2 hard 4 u 2 understand. First things first. Let the northern leaders renounce their 'brain child'. We can then take them serious. Like I said before, Boko Haram are more deadly than MEND and all of the from the creek, that is why during the time of MEND, you can see them with the like of CNN doing documentary. You and I knew their leaders, can you tell me the leader of Boko Haram? Forget about different name dished out any time the useless SSS raids a crowded market. The amnesty happened because what MEND wanted was given to them-MONEY, that is how I want to prove you wrong. Boko Haram is faceless because like every terrorist organisation, they don't have a known command/control centre like a conventional military force. If you are living in north today, their member could be your next door neighbour of many years without you knowing, while MEND members boast of their membership. That is the difference. If you believe that that mere utterance of the so called northern leaders will stop the carnage, why do you kept calling the problem their brain child and expect them to turn around and help? If GEJ's tactics was to blackmail his northern friends into submission, I don't think its working and will never work and you forget that his VP is also a northerner, his senate president is a northerner, plus the speaker. Majority of his cabinet are northerners. Majority of the governors from north are his friends and party members. So whats the problem? Whenever you are asking for this magic northern word that will wipe out Boko Haram, always remember this facts. I don't ever remember OBJ/YarAdua saying that ND was too unsafe for them to go, that Edwin Clark and his peeps should sort it out. |
