thelastPope: Thank you GEJ for free and fare election in Ondo state!I thought it was INEC/Jega that conducted the election? |
African politic of invisible incumbency. What is this special thing inside the labour party that only the people of Ondo saw which the other remaining 35 states could not? Apart from Ondo, where else did labour party has at least a single councillor? I think non at all. God knows how many of public fund was used in buying this exercice that had been masqueraded as popularity of incumbent? I can't wait for Mimiko to finish his second term and lets see how much he loves this labour party to stay with it or is it just a platform for accosting public money along with Yes-men friends and cronies? Or will him join his friends in the other bigger Nigerian PLCs, a.k.a political parties? I feel sorry for the so-called masses and voters |
So in Mimiko's world ACN will spend fake dollars while he will spend the real one? Osun govt is sponsoring his opponent he said, where is the funding for his coming from? From his father's savings. What a backyard way of calling his people of Ondo stupid morons, who cannot tell a fake from the real. |
omicron: I hope we can all put sentiments aside and answer this question objectively. Morinho has brought up new points into this argument such as how harder it is to be Ronaldo than Messi, and the fact that CR7 plays as a winger but yet scores as much as Messi who is the Club's No 9 striker. Yet he seems to concede that Ronaldo is not on any higher level than Messi but simply deserves the award because Messi has one it 4 times, an argument i find biased. What do you say? Balon D'Or. Messi. Ronaldo. Who SHOULD WIN IT?Mourinho had even made it more difficult now for his sulking player to win it. Never had this award ever been reduced to politics that he and his country fella has turned it into and many people are not happy about it. It not about how many goals you scored or how many trophies you had won. George Weah won it playing for Liberia but an overall good player for AC Milan, when Roberto Baggio, Vialli etc were the kings of the goals and trophy winners. Even if Ronaldo blackmailed the world into giving him this award, it carries little weight now in most peoples eyes now, because its no longer on merit but on arm twisting and begging for it. |
Nice civil debate. But where would you place my one and only dearest daughter then? We (me/mrs) adopted her when she was just six months old from Ethiopia, she is now in her late 30s with my two grandchildren. Despite raised in Scotland/England, she speak the best of Igbo language you can expect of her, has Igbo name she is proud of, despite married to a Spaniard, her children also bears Igbo second names, cooks Igbo dishes, wear Igbo clothes, knew/call no other place homeland than Igbo land. She's more Igbo in my opinion than most Igbo parent I knew whose children only Igbo identity is that "my dad says that we are Igbo". ![]() |
taharqa: Anoda ignoranti. GEJ said that in oda to encourage inter-African trade, Nigeria wud consider buying sm rice from Malawi in d mean time( that is b4 we hv all d capacity to meet our demands maybe in 2015) instead of importing all our rice from Thailand and Indonesia. Smart move or suggestn cos Nigeria wud benefit most in d long run if trade is improvd bw any African country....Piece of Advice: if you are ignorant of a tin, then dont Shout in publicInter-African trade. Where do you think the same Malawi buys their petrol from, Nigeria? |
ilugunboy: Brilliant example of conjecture ....more of your own personal understanding of events leading to the sad war.Glad you didn't disagree with me. At least non of you will ever say again that there was never at any time Awo/Ojukwu met to discuss issues. It wasn't my conjecture anymore but that of Adebanjo. |
5columnist: People are quick to point accusing fingers. Awolowo made his decisons in his capacity as entity and I dont think that decision represents the views of all yoruba people. So I be mused that our western brothers are taking offence. What Awo and his cronies did was wrong. Period. You are making a lot of sense. The war was between Nigeria and Biafra but most Yoruba from big to nobody always take it upon themselves to make it theirs. You can never hear the northerners and middle belt boasting about atrocities of the war. Its not a Nairaland/internet thing, even within the ruling establishment, an average Yoruba will bring the war as a taunt to Easterners at every given opportunity. OBJ never waste time in bring the war issue into the equation when its not needed, as a war hero. Something the likes of Babangida will desist from, even though they all wer involved. Do you remember the Yoruba diplomat in the U.S taunting Ojo Maduekwe about the war during OBJ years? I haven't read the so called Achebe's book, but based on what they are saying that he said, I had been told that he was directing issues to Gowon and his deputy, Awolowo. But you will think that Gowon wasn't mentioned OR HE CAME FROM A PLANET OF NO PEOPLE and it was Achebe vs Yoruba. |
baqina: Am not bothered with what Awolowo said, my main concern is d way this thing has turned out to be especially on social media, it is as if d war was between the Yorubas and the Igbos, we have all forgotten how the war started which was the killing of igbos in the northern part of the country (that was the genesis of the crisis) and the Yorubas should keep quiet, they did not start and win the war.It seems you have read the so-called offensive book. Which page and paragaph are you refering to? Your lame argument about Igbos residency in Lagos as Yoruba's humanity is not only childish but meaningless. Lagos is part and parcel of Nigeria and Ndigbo were killed in their millions in order to be part of Nigeria, I don't see how living in a city in your own country translates to generosity. There are more Igbos living in DouaIa or Libreville by double than Igbos residing in lagos. Still Igbos doesn't go all day prostrating to them. If they don't like them, they will revoke their visas. If you hate anybody outside your tribe in your perceived land please, don't get ants in your pants anytime you hear about dissolution of Nigeria. Support it and then you can close your doors like North Korea. You can't have it both ways- one Nigeria on one hand and stay in yours on the other hand and every month your governor will go to Abuja to collect money that was derived from another persons land. Lagos is not better to Oron. Ikot Abasi, James Town, Atabong without one Nigeria and the owners of Lagos ( Aworis) knew that fact, hence they go about their business without fuss. Its only those as arrivals as Ndigbo that kept making noise in a city they had very little stake in its wealth. I had never heard the English asking the Scots to be grateful of living in London, just because they wanted full independence for Scotland from GB. Any Hausa, Yoruba, Efik who decide to live in Umuahia is welcomed and doesn't owe any Igbo man any gratitude, THAT IS HOW A SANE PERSON SHOULD REASON. |
ilugunboy: Every successive post of yours reinforce one thing..and that is you are a lying double faced bastard! In every successive post in the past about about Biafra some of you tribal bigots were always beating your chest to claim that at no point did Awolowo and ever Ojukwu met before the war. Now Adebanjo has confirmed what we had been saying for long how Awo/Emeka met, but again instead of telling you lot the truth, if he knew what happened during the meeting, he kept the false going by saying that Awo came to convince Ojukwu not to go to war but to a discussion table, which was absolute nonesense. He forgot that Aburi was the brain child of Ojukwu who prefers talk than anything else. Agreement was made and signed in Aburi to keep peace, which Awo the one that want to talk hated and advised Gowon to reject it on his return from Ghana, tot he dismay of Eastherners and the host Ghana. Whether you guys like it or not, the fact remained that Awolowo tried and succeeded in manipulating two naive and young men that found themselves were they never expected to to be found by events in Emeka Ojukwu/Gowon. He came to Enugu and promised Ojukwu declaration of Oduduwa if Easterners go and Ojukwu assured him that his force will arrive Lagos as quickly as they can in the event that the north based in Lagos, retaliate at the declaration of Oduduwa, hence Biafra troops early show up in the so called invasion of Ore. Ore was never meant to be an invasion but support. He went back to Lagos to tell Gowon another thing and supported the north because as he told Gowon, Yorubaland will be no theatre of the war because they are sandwiched in the middle and the position of Lagos as the capital. We are all praying that one day, that the northerners will open up and tell the truth, especially Gowon. The day they will annoyed to open up, that day, Nigeria will never be the same again. When Junaid Mohammed accused the Yoruba recently as always speaking in codes, he knew what he is talking about. |
sbeezy8: Go and ask him- do you have a jobs of some sort? an occupation are gainfully employed? you too old to be on internet day n nightI thought that you had started a discussion, suddenly my personal affair is now your main issue of concern. I can be on the internet 24/7 if I wish, as I had been working for the past 40 years plus, trained up my children. I now had time on my hand. You should be giving yourself that advise as you haven't even started crawling yet. |
nwanne m, out of respect I will not embarass you this early morning. Would you, as a true soldier admit that Ojukwu and his commanders made a strategic error and blunder by not surrendering promptly, thus causing the deaths of women and children due to mal nutrition and other diseases? Would you also admit that if the idea was to fight to finish, Ojukwu shouldn't have run away. Sir, this is my last question to you this morning. Keep in mind that NLers are reading your responses. I hope you remain brave and provide the truthful answer like a true Igbo man who is not afraid of anyone, dead or alive. Dalu o.
I never asked for your respect. You ask a yes or no question expecting an answer and also gave you one you joined my line of thought. Should Mandela and ANC stop the fight against apartheid far back in the 60s-shouldn't that had saved life? Yes or No |
thelastPope: My friend, read my post again. Even the title is clear enough. I said "why are they so bitter". There is no Nigerian that is satisfied with the happenings in Nigeria. I am not satisfied but I am not bitter either. What we see on NL all the time is bitterness and negativity. Read some of my posts and you will see where I have criticized Nigeria too. But I do not disrespect or ridicule my country. Foreigners read this stuff sometimes and its really sad what they see.Because of the fact that life is infectious and having lived in a very well organised system, those bitter diasporans can no longer buy the lies of your oppressors. They no longer buy the ideas that it takes 200 years of democracy to have a decent life, while the oppressors are looting the common wealth. They no longer buy the idea that suffering and smiling is some form of patriotic act. They have seen clearly that stealing a common wealth of the people has a zero tolerance. Without the small money they were sending home from your described little apartment with 15 men when your country was a pariah, your economy would be dead by now. When a million of you were matching for Abacha for life president, they were bitter matching to stop him in the cold and after day, setting up radio Kudirat and making his life hell. They are not bitter, they are just not fools anymore. By the way, there is nothing wrong or shameful working in a Burger King. Its called dignity in labour- be proud of whatever that pays your bill. And its far better than armed robbery. |
sbeezy8: didnt awo say the same about regions but remaining in nigeria? If he did, why throw Aburi accord into the Lagoon and advised very young and in-experience Gowon against it? |
^^^^ I asked a very simple question which you could have answered honestly without all the unrelated ramblings. It will not kill you to be honest, afterall you survived the war. In case you were responding to a different post and accidentally copied mine, I ask you again sir: Wouldn't lives of biafran women and childen been saved if Ojukwu had surrendered when it was aparent that it was impossible to win the war and a effective blokade was in place? The answer should really be a simple Yes or No with one or two sentences for clarification. Have you become such a p ussy that you are afraid to tell the truth because it may be interpreted as a criticim of Ikemba? Don't disappoint me, if we can no longer respect a bonafide war veteran like you, then who can we depend on NL on these matters, revisionists? I trust you will not try to dodge again.
I had always stand on the side of the truth irrespective. You are asking a yes or no question about something that has no relevant to a yes or no response. Its like asking Mandela and ANC if they had stopped the fight against apartheid whether the likes of Shapville or Soweto massacres could have been avoided? What is the answer? Yes or No? |
Prof Corruption: Fooools, war was declared after secession. When Ojukwu declared Biafra, what was the Nigerian military supposed to do? Whine and merry? If independence of Biafra means war, then you are admitting that Nigeria cannot survive without them, because before 1914, there was nothing tying us together. Why go to war to stop the divorce of a partner you don't want? Thousand of Biafrans were being murdered on a daily basis before Biafra was declared-where was your quoted Nigerian and its military? Wining and merry making? IMF still give Nigerian loan, they never say no, even when they knew that the money will end up in the Swiss bank account of your rogue rulers. Its a comparison that had hit your conscience were it hurts, you may hide by calling it fraudulent. The truth is bitter. What has a military coup got to do with a tribe? Igbos did not send anyone to kill anyone in a coup and why wasn't that the last coup afterward, if its was such an unheard episode in the army tradition of the 3rd world history? How many of you were wiped out when Diya was caught trying to kill Abacha in a coup? How many of Orka's tribe or the Ogborus were massacred just because their sons got involved in a coup? That is your kind of sense of pick and choose justice application. |
Patsey: The Igbos, led by Chinua Achebe, should go on a pilgrimage to Awolowo's grave at Ikenne in Ogun State and pour a libation to appease him. lol. Otherwise, Things would continue to Fall Apart in Igboland. Go and recover Kwara, Saraki and his kinsmen from the claws of Fulani Emir seating at Ilorin first before dishing advice on occupation to another person. |
Abagworo: I have never supported and will never support MASSOB as a representative of Igbos because Biafra is not same as Igbo. Biafra includes other ethnic groups. I will support this new organization if they are not secessionists and are fighting for the interest of Igbos in Nigeria. You don't need to support them or even belong as there is nothing to belong. You can equally start yours, just like they did. If your way is the right way, we will follow you. The wall of China wasn't built by a brick but many bricks. |
lowgeorge: igbos are the most parasitic pple on earth. they steal, plunder, maim and encroaches on peoples property. Very Senile minded, Quick to mischievousness, fast in perpetrating crime. undaunted in carrying harddrugs regardless of the implications. Rugged and silly living. Double sided mouth. If i have my way. i would chase you guys away from south west. Parasitic Conjugation called nationhood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The Romans, Greek, Assyrian and most recently the British, Americans and many more powers started it. Any great power that never plunders , has never started ![]() And watch out!! The Chinese are coming!! |
cesil92: Yeye people. Just hear them "MASSOB has not been paying compensation to family members of victims, Now dis new group na dem wan pay. Hence, d youths have migrated to a better pay offer 4rm dis new group.Leaving a rafter in your own eyes and compain about the leave in someone else's. OPC's faction of Frederic Fasheun and the other by Gani Adams which one shares money better and which one do you belong and for what reason? MASSOB is not a Nigerian political party, it has no registration book, all membership is in the heart, so what is the meaning of decamping? What is the difference between ANC and PAC during the ugly days of apartheid? Nothing ! Just one goal but different method. |
Eziachi, the one and only biafra veteran maramma. I have a question for you sir: nwanne m, do you have the confidence, honesty, boldness, and bravery to admit that if Ojukwu had surrendered 3-6 months before he ran away, thousands of biafran women and children would not have died in vain? Sir, Dede1, the normally unafraid historian and unrepentant seccessionist, ran away from the question. Knowng that you faced federal troops galantly, I do not expect you to dodge or run away from the question. Dalu o.
3-6 months out of 3 years makes no difference. If Gowon/Awolowo with the advise of Britain did not declare war on Biafra, there would not had been any basis for Biafra to defend itself. You can't ask a man whether lives would had been saved if he had surrendered his wife and daughters for despoil against robbers that invaded his home. I haven't heard the West not to give aid to poor nations because they felt the aid will go to their corrupt rich elite, because that is what Gowon/Awo was telling you. They starve women and children because if allowed they NGOs like CARITAS in they will feed everybody including the soldiers, therefore lets starve everybody. The problem some of you kept repeating is this, this food, they made it sound like Nigeria will be loading food daily into Biafra. It was food from World charities but Nigeria threatened to shoot down their plane if dare. It comes to a point, that Gabon decided to dare them and landed few relief materials but stopped when the Nigeria planes bombed the Uli airport runways they are using. You people should get some facts right. It wasn't Nigerian food. |
SOH KAH TOA: What surprises me is the fact that Gowon was also mentioned but why are the defenders of Awolowo not also speaking for Gowon? I have every reason to believe that book and it's content regarding the notorious roles the said actors played. The more the Yorubas react, the more they call people's attention to the book and the more they soil the reverend icon.Good questions, but they will never give you the answer, why are they not fighting for Gowon also mentioned? ![]() |
shymexx: Obviously, I'd take my pops' story over Achebe's story - and I expect you to do the same..Of course you will take your pops, who wouldn't? That is natural. Whether what he told you in reality happens is another matter all together. Probably your father closest encounter with the war was through what he read in the Lagos daily times or heard on WNBC radio, and some how, he has to impress his little pikin, because as far as I knew, Nigeria regular/trained soldiers fought for Nigeria on land, while the Soviets/Egyptians fought in the air for them. They never had any need for your civilian father. You better believe it. |
kpogede77: Why bringing Itsekiri into this issue, no matter how u look at it the Igbos are still better than the Fulani people. There is no way Awo could have supported Biafra, even the mid west was against Biafra but that is bye gone. I am of the opinion that the northerners have bribed Achebe to create disunity in the south for them to continue to perpetuate themselves on the people of the south. Achebe is just being emotional as an old man , if we blow this issue too much it will give the book more relevance. He may have added some unfounded clause to arouse emotion to give the book relevance. You know Igbo man can do any thing for money including selling his people's interest to the north to make money. In any case , I prefare to be in the same country with Igbo people than to be in the same country with those bastard Hausa Fulanis. No hate intended, that is my personal opinion not that of Itsekiri peopleI bet Igbos like you and the likes of James Ibori hated money so much? ![]() |
Are you this dumb? You are expecting your enemy to feed you? Why not ask them to supply you weapons while you are at it? You sir must be a first generation slowpoke. Some mothers do have 'em really.
So what are you guys having a fit about then, if the man was just stating the obvious? He hasn't accused Awo of some unknown issue, but something Awo admitted that he did, only that he did it to win the war for Nigeria. Whats the fuss about? |
CyberG: Me too! I would never buy a book of a man who has mentally fallen apart. He can stoke the embers of war but one thing is sure,'if the ibo warmongers go head to head against Nigerians again, like this silly Avhebe is stoking the embers of war, they will be utter CRUSHED. Then they will cry everyone a river but will you help your enemy win against you? Ackebe is losing it.I never knew much you loved one Nigeria this much?. Not long ago, people like you were calling/dreaming of republic of southern Nigeria. Months by month patriotic Nigerians. |
toba: im not in ondo state but tinubu's eight years in office was almost a complete failure. fashola started rebuilding from Zero. 3 deputy governors in 8years. he sacked bucknor, sacked femi pedro. ensured that sarah sosan never got a second term ticket with fashola and almost sacked fashola with his controlled state house of assembly. sold nuhu ribadu and many other atrocitiesTinubu took over the wrought left by the junta guys. Without his foundation, Fashola cannot build the house, that is the way I sees it. Mimiko should stop ranting about Tinubu all the time. You will think he is contesting against Tinubu in this election. |
lollyefisi: hereby reproduces an excerpt from a recording on Chief Obafemi Awolowo's account of the Nigerian Civil War ....What happens to the 26 million pound deposits at ACB before the war? You stole a man's 26 million and later gave him 3.5 million and expect him to congratulate you? Very generous! My family has 246 thousand pounds in both ACB/Barclays and received only 20 pounds back. We had about 11 thousand Nigerian pounds in cash and they quickly change the currency into Naira and refused to change it to Naira. Lagos, Rivers state and Bendel state officially without a shame hold on to people properties many years after the war. Lagos state govt went all the way to the supreme court contesting for abandoned property while states like Kano through Abubakar Rimi was readily helping the original owners to get back their properties. Its funny that they are not saying that Achebe lied but he shouldn't say things that will break Nigeria as if Nigeria is not broken already. Fashakin is speaking not for CPC, as the issue got nothing to do with politicking, before Igbos start jumping upon CPC or Buhari. |
Real should win this game!!!!!! Barca hasn't got any defence at all. Xavi/Iniesta not in the game. |
If Real Madrid don't win this game, they are done. With Barca playing without any recognised defender except Alba All them as short as John Benson A clown of a goalkeeper in Valdez. A referee that seem to be wearing white underneath his black attire? As usual Mourinho and his boring football of 11 men behind the ball, waiting only for counter attack. Am I the only one that think that if Pepe or Sergio Ramos sees Messi on a beach walking on his slippers, that they will still tackles him? ![]() |
Wallie: I do not think SE is landlocked; it is a fact that it is landlocked. What I wrote was based on the premise of a non-amicable dissolution of Nigeria, which will most likely be the case since the dissolution will become extremely messy. Thanks for your facts and that is why I ask you Mr fact, whether we are airlocked too? When the time come, we will ask those well developed countries today that are equally landlocked how they are coping. If the worse comes to worse, we wil come and beg you for life. You should know. What happens to people property is the same thing that is happening to their properties now in Cameroon, Ghana, Gabon, Benin Rep'. The same thing that happens to Yoruba, Igbo, Huasa property today in England. Or we will ask Georgians, Ukranians, Lithuanians what happens to their properties in Russia and Russians too. Or we will wait and see what happens to Scottish people's properties in England if Scotland they decide to leave the union in 2014 referendum. By the way, Niger has more steady power than your sea-side Nigeria. Try and find other landlocked nations, not just the one you fancy to mention. |
dayokanu: Fleeing is a better option? I laugh at genetic cowardiceTrust me, Fleeing is far wise than suicide. Abiola should have tried it, rather than allowed to be snuffed by nomads and guess what? The fleeing general got a king burial in the end. With your leaders falling over themselves to pay their respect. Wisdom is an asset. Not everyone got it. |
