Ihedinobi: ^^

Uh, it was my response to mazaje which you responded to that I was refering to not your own question. smiley

I saw your question as a rhetorical one in the light of mazaje's assertion. This prompted me to ask mine. I hope to be honoured with a response.

Ihedinobi:

You know, there's this difference between saying something and asking a question. I suggest that you try the question again. In answering it, you may find an answer to your own question.

Are you saying if frosbel, image123, goshen360, jesoul and you do not agree/have contradicting stance on the nature of Jesus, Am I safe to conclude that atleast one of you is not a true believer?

there you go...

Ihedinobi:

So how is one a true believer in Christ without knowing the nature of the Christ that they believe in?

Are you saying if frosbel, image123, goshen360, jesoul and you do not agree/have contradicting stance on the nature of Jesus, I'm safe to conclude that atleast one of you is not a true believer?
Religion / Re: If There Was No Hell Fire, Would U Still Be A Christian/muslim by ezme(m): 8:43am On Apr 21, 2013
swiftycool: Hey Nairalanders!
I was just thinking about this and thought to bring it to the table. I know some Christian sects already believe this but am asking you, who don't .

What if there was no hell fire, to burn up all wrong doers or sinners, unbelievers etc. as many followers have been taught to believe; and your soul either goes to heaven or just completely ceases to exist after death, would you still strive to be a committed christian, muslim; running away from all forms of sin or would you live a different kind of life.

Let's hear it

If there was no hell and also no heaven, religion would lose it appeal. Take away the reward and the punishment and everyone would be indifferent about it. Even those who claim to love God so much right now.

I once asked here "How appealing is the promise of eternal life?" Even the most vocal of Christians down here couldn't even give reasonable response.

Religion / Re: Why Are Churches In Nigeria Always Casting Out Demons From Their Members by ezme(m): 2:34am On Apr 20, 2013
When I remember these verses I feel sorry for those that run to SCOAN. With the hundreds of demons allegedly cast out there, and the multitude present in the Church. The demons may just be experiencing a change of host.
Unless the SCOAN will claim;
1. That being within that auditorium gives you immunity from being possessed.
2. That everyone present there has the holy spirit within them and therefore are not vacant vessels.

Matthew 12: 43-45

When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order.

Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.

^^^
The Irony is I don't even believe any of the things I wrote up there anymore.

Davo93: I just went through the Russian embassy in Nigeria website and read something i felt i should share with you...

" The scholarship recipients are selected by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Nigeria through the recommendation of the Federal Scholarship Board (FSB) of the Nigerian Ministry of Education. The final decision on applications recommended by the FSB as well on host universities is made by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. Entry visas for students will be provided in accordance with the official list compiled by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science."

This kind of give a support to the fact that the local influence on this award will be infinitesimal even if there is any...

Can you post the link here please and also did they state a time-frame for this?
Religion / Re: How Helpful Has Nairaland Religion Section Been To You by ezme(m): 6:51am On Apr 18, 2013
The religion section on nairaland for the first-time gave me the courage to ask myself the question many Christians never really get to ask them selves. "Why do i believe?"

Presently I'm still walking that path, and I may end up agnostic after this walk. While reading the "deconversion" thread. I realized it all boils down to perception of the world around you. The words of Mrs Ezekiel Enotie really got to me. I view religionists as lazy persons who have out-sourced responsibilities of the outcome of their every endeavors to third parties (Viz: God and the devil). Sadly, I used to worship in an environment where everyone believe their progress in life is tied to how much/often they sow seeds.

Why call him a learner? My friend if we knew all we do in a day, no one would be asking questions here. This thread would not even exist. Just so you know, it is best to send scanned documents even resume as PDF files so they cannot be easily manipulated at the database where they would be stored.

2-chains:

I know the online is good but I had a problem with it. I wanted to upload my acceptance letter (2 pages) and when I uploaded the first page, it didn't let me upload the second, saying it would replace the first uploaded document. I also tried putting in a file and uploading but instead the file would open and I would be asked to pick one.

Scan each individual page as jpeg, convert them individually to pdf. Then comebine both pdf to one document. You can do this using adobe pro 9. you can get a CD #150/#200 anywhere they sell pirated computer software. You can DL a cracked version too.

Health / Re: How Do You Deal With Suicide Thoughts? by ezme(m): 12:55pm On Apr 17, 2013
sauer: One thing many don't know is how suicidal thoughts actually drive one to become creative. A little more patience and these people would have recorded astonishing achievements!

Depression drove someone I know to becoming an Atheist. He never really contemplated suicide. Atleast, that is what he says.
Health / Re: How Do You Deal With Suicide Thoughts? by ezme(m): 12:16pm On Apr 17, 2013
@Op It is not in my(our) Nigerian nature to contemplate suicide. The thought may have blindsided me on those early formative years after getting a beat down from my mum. The Nigerian society frowns at suicide and it is not a common place thought. A friend died whose death could be attributed to his own doing but not be pointed directly as suicide as it was a case of drug abuse and addiction.

The only story I know of a Nigerian who took his life was a dude who used to cut my hair, he always gave me a fresh line up.He took his life because he wanted to start up his private saloon and his siblings were reluctant to support him, so he drank a shaving powder solution. People who witnessed his last moments said he was trying hard to grasp anything within reach when the mixture started taking its toll on him. I believe the feeling he had in his last moments was worse than the life he was trying to run away from.

Suicide to me is an easy way out and show mental weakness of the person who goes suicidal. Life isn't a bed of roses, we all won't have it rosy and no one is promised anything. As a black man who has never seen a psychiatrist/shrink/counselor in his life, I don't know about the effectiveness of such therapy and if it would be beneficial to someone who had his formative and teen years in Nigeria.

I try not to go religious when addressing something as this as I'm presently questioning "why I believe?".If the person in question has a belief system and is a religious devotee. I think try to get closer to his "God" may just give him/her the will to go on. Either way a will to live is inherent in all humans. We all strive towards self-preservation, it usually isn't a conscious effort.

StarFlux: Telemark is a nice area. Maybe a bit dull compared to the cities, but it's definitely worthy.

If you already got an offer, I can't really think of a single reason why you wouldn't take it. Unless you have other offers to consider. It's mostly about the location, and whether you'd want to live in a city or not.
I really don't care about being in the city or not, its just the quality education that I desire. Sadly I couldn't get into NTNU but I'm just looking at prospects after study. I sure prefer Norway to Uk and personally I feel a 2year masters is more enriching than a one-year crash program. I'm thinking about job prospects after study and if having a Nigerian passport would be an issue. My big picture plan is to return to naija after five years of Northsea experience.

P.S: How soon can a dedicated mind learn the language if I put in one hour a day to this project
Education / Re: Has Anyone Applied To Any Norwegian University For Since Application Started? by ezme(m): 9:56am On Apr 17, 2013
StarFlux: Well, you mean what I think about the programme itself, or the university? Can't really go wrong with any university in Norway, so that's fine.

Other than that, the programme looks promising. I see no reason why you shouldn't apply for it.

I'm in the middle of an exam period, so haven't been so active. If I didn't answer your question, let me know!

I actually got an offer there, just considering whether to take it or not. I have till April 30th to make that decision

dj militant: I heard of that documentary on poverty in nigeria i think many people need to see that film b4 there eyes will open
I just saw it too. If only we would realize that things would not change until we act. Sadly, we live in a country where people prefer to pray away their challenges and societal anomalies.
