A 13 year old girl was driving home with her mother during the Christmas break. They encountered a traffic jam on the way, and while waiting for the traffic to ease up, this girl and her mum caught sight of her favourite teacher, who happens to be a colleague of mine, walking along the roadside attired in white lace, gele and cream coloured shoes. They called her attention and the woman promptly came over, smiling very happily. They explained pleasantries, and offered the woman a lift. She declined the offer, saying she was almost at her destination. She wished them a happy new year in advance and advised the little girl to always be studious and responsible.

At this point, traffic started easing up and they had to drive away. After bidding the woman goodbye, they drove off. The little girl turned to look back when they had driven a little way and was a bit puzzled to find the woman where they left her, still smiling and waving at them. She now had to wave again until they lost sight of her.

On resumption day, there was a little commotion in school. I and a host of others went to investigate. The cause of the whole commotion was this girls mother. She was sprawled on the ground, hyperventilating. When she had calmed down a bit, she was able to tell us the cause of her shock. She had just learnt that Mrs A.,my colleague had died. And guess what? She had been dead four days when the woman and her daughter saw her at the roadside. She died on Dec 23, they had seen and exchanged pleasantries with her on Dec 27.

Every one present was dumbfounded.

The truth is this life is a mystery and certain things cannot be explained. Are these spirits demons or ghosts? The dead woman in question was a very nice person when she was alive,loved by most, hated by few, so I wonder what her ghost was doing traipsing along on some unknown mission by the roadside on a sunny afternoon.

@debosky and Siga, the thing is, this co-op thing hasn't been emphasized before now, very few schools offer a co-op program for graduate students. Only URegina has a co-op program among the schools that i liked their course content. Most of us don't really look at the big picture when making this applications for admission. Some programs have co-op semester infused in them, it really goes a long way to but sadly the URegina would not make a decision till July 2013, which makes it almost impossible to make fall 2013 with present CDHC 4-6months processing time. I may just have to prepare my mind for a winter 2014 start date whether I get the Regina admission or not, cos I believe I would short-change myself if I hurriedly apply with any admission from the other two schools and end up getting the Regina offer. I believe getting an internship on my own may not be so easy to come by if the school doesn't have such partnership structure already in place. We know how difficult it is to secure internship with multi-nationals here in Nigeria. Internships are mostly by recommendations here.

Unless CDHC change their ways, u might not meet up with Fall 2013. So I would advise you prepare your mind for Winter 2014 or apply to another Univesity.

Those of us applying to Universities should just hope they get this 10days thing on track in time or we may end up not making sept start date. My school just mailed me saying they would make their decision 4months after deadline and that is July 2013.

There is no standard way to go about this, just establish contact. It always easier asking if s/he is accepting students for the term in question. It really doesn't have to be a very long mail. Mine was usually two lines long, believe me I got 55% response. What ever happen after the first contact depends on you

I think we should all take it easy on him. Though It is in our Nigerian nature to seek short-cuts, wanting to reap the fruits of hard work but lack the mental discipline to follow our plans through. It all boils down to how badly he wants it. I was once told the only stupid question is a one not asked.
