Which type of feed do we give them? |
dav8id: You cant be a successful agro produce trader without local agent. Either you trust them and do business with them or you recruite your local agent from someone you trust and inject him in the market by following all their requirement of being the a local agent in the market. Thats what the ultimate Olam Nig did in the saseme market... What are the requirements of being a local agent? Do they hav an associatn? I'll also like u to talk more on the strategy olam nig used. |
dav8id: I have no idea on snail farming sir. Egusi, sesame , ginger ,cashew and charcoal are my area... What is this sesame self? |
. |
Buchika: umu nne m daalu nuo, abum onye igboukwu. I am into cassava farming and processing, but to tell you the truth it's not easy at all, I started with the wrong foot forward and I lost heavily, was demoralised but now I am understudy ing a successful poultry farmer cause I believe I must surely make it in agriculture. ka ohagodi m etua.. Do u process to cassava or flour? |
fayahsoul: Africans sef. To us everything foreign is superior to local content. Look, these foreign breeds have been intensively geneticaly modified via boitech and therefore cannot be classified as pure. Rather its our local breeds that are organic and pure. Its not normal for a cow to produce 45 litres of milk a day. Does a calf need that much milk? That's a genetic disorder. The mammary gland inhibitors have been silenced this allows the over production of milk... As the world populatn rises, we have to meet food demand. |
Must we rely on the whites all the time? What are our drs doing? Cant they start research with our roots and herbs? |
fayahsoul: as in d locate of my farm abi where i dey live?.. Your farm location and where u base. |
Pls I'll like to know if sorghum is cheaper than maize. According to a research, it can replace maize in the diet of rabbits. |
@Pavore, hw do they process it? |
Apitch: Confirm! U r all welcome... U did nt call me again as promised, u forgot? |
Dexpro: Oppss..... Sorry. Its supposed to be pounds,.. I for say. .. Additnal tip: Don't raise chickens and geese together. This is bc geese are carriers of many chicken diseases. Dont also raise chickens with ducks. |
fayahsoul: am representing oraukwu but i dey breed grasscutter for 042. My farm is about two months old so i just started. nno nu o... My brother!! Where do you stay? |
stanzo: You are welcome. The farm is open to anybody to visit. Farmers, aspiring farmers, students and even tourists are welcome.. What and what makes ur farm integrated? Pls I'll like to know. |
ewizard1: Thanks, I really appreciate. Being wondering where I can get this HAY in Lagos...... Hay simply means dry grass. So u can make tons of it by urself. |
Dexpro: It should weigh anything from 16-23 kg. A fully grown geese equals 3 & half fully grown broiler if not more... Chei!!! Pls did u make a mistake when u wrote 16-23kg? Let me google. |
I'll also like to know. |
ewizard1: Glad to find this thread..... I have one advice for you: dont feed them anything that's high in starch/sugar. This include fruits, carrots, etc. If you'll feed at all, feed very little. 3 teaspoon of fruit juice may even be too much sugar for an adult rabbit! High starch/sugar can lead to death! .. Also, dont feed them with wet grass. Dont cut grass in the morning, allow them to dry first bc wet grass can lead to a serious condition called bloating. This can lead to death. NOTE: this is wrong. Wet grass isn't dangerous for rabbits. I made a mistake. The dangerous thing is if you cut grass and leave it in a pile (i.e. In a bunch or with one grass on another). In a pile, the grass will ferment and become dangerous for rabbits. It upset their stomach and can lead to death. .. Feed them with lots of hay, it's good for wearing down their ever-growing teeth. .. Goodluck. |
dasparrow: Don't forget, rabbits love carrots and gnawing on carrots is good for their ever growing teeth. |
dasparrow: Don't forget, rabbits love carrots and gnawing on carrots is good for their ever growing teeth... Anything high in starch/sugar will kill a rabbit in large amt, and carrot is included. Feed ur rabbits lots of carrot and watch the rate at which they'll die. U may find it difficult to believe bc of popular cartoons that associate carrots with rabbits. But do a simple search in google and you'll see wot i mean. |
dyoungforester: Kudos to all my rabbit lovers;.. Is the gestation period for grasscutter really 45 days? I though it is much more longer than that. |
olumzzz: ONE WORD.......... Misconception. What we're discussing here is not bush meat, but farm-raised rabbits. Where will they get the ebola from? I'm nt saying it is impossible for farm-raised rabbits to get it, but then other farm-raised animals like cattle etc can also get it. |
whitecat007: Long throat! Humans should stick with fish, beef and chicken, and leave bunny alone, haba! Those cuties make great pets and avoid ebola... Rabbit is a farm animal and is eaten all over the world. In some places they're pests, not pets and they cause serious havoc to crops. One man's meat may be another man's poison. |
Apitch: Still waiting for ur call.. I'm v sorry. Expect it 2morrow. |
Blackethics: U wil get frm edo state ministry of agriculture. Dey hv some arable farmlands in agonebode and other area.. Do u hav an idea of hw much it cost? |
Dexpro: At what age will she start laying? Laying starts when she is 15 to 19 months old... Like hw much will a well-fed geese weigh at 6 mnths? |
fayahsoul: @dejia this AI you are talking about sounds like its a fertilized egg that's been implanted into your sows and not sperm. In other words your sows serve as surrogates... Is this true? |
Apitch: Yes my family house is there but I reside and work @ Ogidi.. I'll call u. |
mercylicious: Wow. Nice to know u are close. I will pay u a visit in ur farm one of these weekends. I have been planning on setting up a farm for two years now but have nt done anything. Thinking of doing both crop and animal farming so dt the refuse froom the animals will be manure for the crops. Am looking at buying vast lands at aguleri side for this as land at nkwele and nsugbe have gone so expensive. I will be needing ur mentorship soon... U have a good idea there. I'm looking up to that too. I sent u a pm. |
felixzo1: the only place i know tse tse fly attack people even at home is the delta region. just a open house will be okay,( but if the cases of tse tse fly arise , you can alway use a net to cover the pens) similar to the one provide below, it is good the do not stand on the ground in wet regions, because more disease are transferred that way.( foot and mouth disease and respiratory diseases) goats love dryness. crossing the the northern goats for example sokoto red with a nigerian dwarf will help with easier adaptation and hybrid vigour.northern goats do not do well in the south because of poor housing.. Thanks man. |
Wow, more grease to ur elbow. |
felixzo1: tse tse fly will not be a problem with proper housing... What do u mean by proper housing? U mean a closed house? .. Do u also think that crossing a livestock from the north, with a tse tse resistant livestock from the south, will make the offspring to be resistant to the fly? |
