I completely disagree. In Sharia countries where women are completely covered- men are vibrating from seeing a girls shoulder. In nigeria, men vibrate when they see thighs. In Europe where dressing is scandalous, men vibrate only for naked women. It shows that its not what the woman is wearing that is the issue, otherwise all men would behave the same to the same amount of exposure.

Remember that int he beginning, both were naked.

This immorality is WITHIN us. let us stop with the original sin of Adam and Eve with blaming outside influences for our internal lack of faith.

I'm not saying social media and outside things like porn are good- they make things worse for sure. But please stop putting the responsibility of your own holiness on someone else's dressing or TV. Vow within your own heart that you will not look at another woman lustfully

It is a problem of the heart. A godly heart will overcome temptations. But it is also a problem of your fellow human beings. Immodest dressing has led and is still leading many into sin. I'm currently farming pepper and veg there. If u want to start, start small. Some NL that came here and rented 20-40 plots all ran away without even starting. Be ready to work hard.

Yes because of trust and No because you want to empower someone in what they are good at and knows how to do, except they know you are into such, it still won't work. empowerment of family isn't negotiable but i am under the impression that family doesn't mean bond by the blood but we are all connected BUT i could be wrong.
We surely will try this again as soon as possible and like the gentleman said, we all could have learnt one or two things from this one.

Thanks for your response, I've cut off some affected leaves earlier on, fresh ones came out looking very green and fresh but later turned out the same way after a few weeks

Seems like the ugu lack manure. Good fertilization can help wade off diseases to a great extend. Fertilize with manure and prune out diseased leaf. Staking will also help a great deal.

There was a time I gave chicken dung 2months burial but the thing still burn some of my cucumbers .

from my experience both fresh and old chicken manure can burn your crop.
i noticed the reason why chicken manure Burns is the reaction between Sunlight+hydrogen=ammonia

so if you can mulch the chicken manure (for small farm)
or use drip fetigation + good filtration system
or apply directly with few inch space

That sunlight hydrogen reaction u gave isn't correct. The burning is mainly due to heat and toxic gases formed by microbes.

Probably a fungal disease. Spray fungicide asap - a mixture of a contact fungicide (eg mancozeb) and a systemic fungicide ( metalaxyl, carbendazim).

I don't see the reason why any farmer will wish to store his pepper harvest if he is not planning to dry it and add more value to it,I don't see the reason why, because pepper is a commodity that is consumed by also everyone in Nigeria at least once daily and the demand is always strong or less the farmer could not think out of the box to get other buyers from other places he will be tied to the monopolistic agenda of the marketers close to him,I went on market survey yesterday and I remove my hat to anyone that struggled to farm peppers this year because the payoff is surely coming,one flour bag is ₦17,000 while a vital feed bag or blue garri/rice bag is ₦12,000 in barracks market onitsha,I was just laughing when some analysts said that farm produce will fall in price during this health crisis,it is obvious they have not learnt about the simple economics of supply and demand,the supply is now seriously affected by the lockdown and the demand is just at 30-40% due to restrictions, when the demand will increase by 80% from 4th may when all the 63 markets and all businesses will start in anambra,your guess is as good as mine because prices will have no were else to go but up

I spread it on the plot and applied water on the plot, then I left it that way for 3 weeks. If you apply it and plant without allowing it to cure (decompose properly) , it will kill your cucumber seedlings cos cucumber is a very fragile plant in the sense that as the poultry manure is decomposing it is releasing heat that could damage the plant. You don’t want that

When u don't bury manure, they gas off some nitrogen. Better to apply manure and make ur ridges. Then wait for 1-2 weeks before u plant. But for me, I can do all that and plant immediately because the manure I used are mostly manure that have been stored for some time. But I think that cukes tolerate fresh manure well so far as the manure is not touching the stem. I have read that somewhere.

Start with just one and focus. I don't think cukes is good for a beginner. Why not start with vegetables - green, scent leaf, curry or ugu? Then plant few cucumbers and read them as they grow.

U can use cement bags. But why go thru the stress? Irrigating it esp in dry season is not easy. Search NL for sack farming to see samples.

I've watched several documentaries on storage methods used by the indians, where they build cold rooms using charcoal. It increases the shelf life by another week.

I'll give it a trial, even if it isn't this season.

I've read about that too. Very interesting and I have it in mind to build one. But for now, I sell as soon as possible. But it seems like the charcoal cooler will work well only during the dry season when humidity is low. I'm not sure but if that is the case, it may not solve your problem as perishables normally go up in price during dry season.

@Fhemmmy, I'll advise u not to give up yet. U can still start another one. Maybe, everybody have learnt sth from this one.

Participants shud pls be serious and take this opportunity. It is wort it. So don't give up.

Keeping them in a well ventilated cool dry place, they lasted 7 days before showing signs of decay.

Are there tips on how they can be stored for a longer period?

So I have been thinking if should transfer them to cans as medium for single grow since nursery bags isn't readily available here in my area and I have am t of cans. Is it still good if I transfer them to the cans ?

U can use pure water satchet or all those small nylon use by market women.

Transplanting to grow bags give them the opportunity to grow bigger and stronger. But it is not a must. Once they reach 4-9 weeks u can't transplant to farm, but do so in the evening and water them.

You can but I don't think it is the best. The cans will rust with time and making drain holes will be harder. Why not sow on a nursery bed and later transplant to single grow bags or even pure water satchets.

Please I'd like to ask a question, from your experience in growing okro, does it attract disease to other plants if intercroped? I'm asking because I planted okro on a plot and later added some ugu, the ugu are showing signs of fungal and bacteria diseases all over their leaves, while the okro are still fine after an early stage attack from aphids, someone said the diseases on the ugu is as a result of intercropping with Okro, how true is this I don't know, hence the need for my questions, experts in the house kindly help

I haven't grew that intercrop b4. Prune out those diseased leaves. Can u post a picture?

Face mask is better than lockdown.

The greatest challenge during this lockdown is access to farm input. If not for the reserve I have I don't know what would have happened.

They're all effective if u use them well. Generally, u don't just make use of 1 pesticide over and over. Use at least 2 or 3 with different MOA (modes of action). That way, pests and diseases won't get use to them. Laraforce is a pyrethroid insecticides. Other members of that family includes cypermethrin, deltamethrin, tefluthrin etc. See a huge list of insecticide moa here: https://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/pi121

It is better to combine Zforce with a systemic fungicide like hexaconazole, strobilurin etc. Zforce is just a protectant fungicide - it protects uninfected leaves.
