numen: Please what's the name of this insect and it's effect on pepper plants? . Those are nymphs of stink bugs. I also sight them on my pepper farm. So far I've used methomyl and Abamectin against them. I'm watching to see what happen. There effect: "To obtain their food, stink bugs use their stylets to pierce the plant tissue to extract the plant fluids. [32] In doing so, the plant loses necessary fluids, which can lead to deformation of seeds, destruction of seeds, destruction of fruiting structures, delayed plant maturation, and increased vulnerability to harmful pathogens. [32] While harvesting the plant's juices, the stink bug injects saliva into the plant, creating a dimpling of the fruit's surface and rotting of the material underneath." - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_marmorated_stink_bug |

okoroemeka: foliar fertilizer, fungicide and insecticides are made to be compatible, you will mix all of then and spray at once, because if you are spraying a big farm like i personally sprayed 15 knapsack on one acre on Saturday and nearly had hunch back you will understand the need to combine and apply everything at once and not to apply one after the other, and please forget about the under leafs application can work with backyard farm not on a big farm. . If u ever have a stubborn pest/disease problem, consider spraying under the leaves. I've came across a research where farmers have to combine 5 pesticides at high doses just to control whiteflies. But the researcher just used 1 pesticide at the right dose. He sprayed both under and on top of the leaves and got the same result those farmers got. |

okoroemeka: yes, still working perfectly no drip emitter blocked so far,the joy of using fertigation in crops like cucumbers is the flexibility it offers, you can use different fertlizer, compst tea, organic manure, etc, but the biggest surprise was the week we fertigated urea,I cannot believe it is possible for a crop to grow so fast, but the danger is more lush thick foliage and that is not what a cucumber farmer needs,we are drawing a master plan to utilize such result in a leafy vegetable like ugu during the dry season,we have a small control farm of 10 ugu plants that we will fertigate urea and see how nasty it can get. . Wow! Nice. Keep me updated. |

okoroemeka: the general yellow of the leafs with greenish veins is caused by poor soil and nutrient deficiency, but I can see on the down left side the beginning of Downy mildrew and on the top right side leaf miner with white lines on leafs,to prevent such nutrient deficiency on such poor soils, chicken manure must be applied before planting and applied again before flowering, then npk can take over . Hello Oga. How far about that liquid manure fertigation. Is it still working without problem? |

Nice. Churches shud bring back holiness and righteousness messages. All these prosperity and my-enemies-die messages won't help. There are many church goers that will sing the worse of immoral songs, wear the worst of immoral dresses and still belief they are in right standing with God. It is happening because pastors no longer educate members on rights and wrongs.
Hebrew 5:13: For everyone who lives on milk is still a baby and does not yet know the difference between right and wrong.
But unfortunately, many pastors are not ready to educate their members about popular sins like immodesty, immoral songs and jokes, celebrities etc. |
Christianity Etc › Re: How We Can Curb Sexual Immorality In Our Society by FarmTech(m): 3:40pm On May 03, 2020 |
Ochiban: I completely disagree. In Sharia countries where women are completely covered- men are vibrating from seeing a girls shoulder. In nigeria, men vibrate when they see thighs. In Europe where dressing is scandalous, men vibrate only for naked women. It shows that its not what the woman is wearing that is the issue, otherwise all men would behave the same to the same amount of exposure.
Remember that int he beginning, both were naked.
This immorality is WITHIN us. let us stop with the original sin of Adam and Eve with blaming outside influences for our internal lack of faith.
I'm not saying social media and outside things like porn are good- they make things worse for sure. But please stop putting the responsibility of your own holiness on someone else's dressing or TV. Vow within your own heart that you will not look at another woman lustfully . It is a problem of the heart. A godly heart will overcome temptations. But it is also a problem of your fellow human beings. Immodest dressing has led and is still leading many into sin. Remember that lust is a sin. So it is not just when u do it physically. And for those who lead others to sin, here is what Christ have for you: Luke 17:1: Jesus said to his disciples: "Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come. uche393: There was a time I gave chicken dung 2months burial but the thing still burn some of my cucumbers .
from my experience both fresh and old chicken manure can burn your crop. i noticed the reason why chicken manure Burns is the reaction between Sunlight+hydrogen=ammonia so if you can mulch the chicken manure (for small farm) or use drip fetigation + good filtration system or apply directly with few inch space . How did u applied the manure? . That sunlight hydrogen reaction u gave isn't correct. The burning is mainly due to heat and toxic gases formed by microbes. |

okoroemeka: I don't see the reason why any farmer will wish to store his pepper harvest if he is not planning to dry it and add more value to it,I don't see the reason why, because pepper is a commodity that is consumed by also everyone in Nigeria at least once daily and the demand is always strong or less the farmer could not think out of the box to get other buyers from other places he will be tied to the monopolistic agenda of the marketers close to him,I went on market survey yesterday and I remove my hat to anyone that struggled to farm peppers this year because the payoff is surely coming, one flour bag is ₦17,000 while a vital feed bag or blue garri/rice bag is ₦12,000 in barracks market onitsha,I was just laughing when some analysts said that farm produce will fall in price during this health crisis,it is obvious they have not learnt about the simple economics of supply and demand, the supply is now seriously affected by the lockdown and the demand is just at 30-40% due to restrictions, when the demand will increase by 80% from 4th may when all the 63 markets and all businesses will start in anambra, your guess is as good as mine because prices will have no were else to go but up .. Futurejoy: I spread it on the plot and applied water on the plot, then I left it that way for 3 weeks. If you apply it and plant without allowing it to cure (decompose properly) , it will kill your cucumber seedlings cos cucumber is a very fragile plant in the sense that as the poultry manure is decomposing it is releasing heat that could damage the plant. You don’t want that . When u don't bury manure, they gas off some nitrogen. Better to apply manure and make ur ridges. Then wait for 1-2 weeks before u plant. But for me, I can do all that and plant immediately because the manure I used are mostly manure that have been stored for some time. But I think that cukes tolerate fresh manure well so far as the manure is not touching the stem. I have read that somewhere. |
