okoroemeka: yes, microbial activity was another angle we are watching out for but after the ocm fertigation we run clean water through the system for a period of time to flush out the residual ocm that can breed microbial growth, also we have multi k potassium nitrate that we fertigate weekly for added boost. . If this ocm fertigatn works I'll be very happy. Pls keep us updated. How much is the multi K? |

okoroemeka: haba,@farmtech this your question has expired now,we transplanted February 19 and irrigated it till flowering and fruiting now March 11,also rains are coming and you are still asking how we are planning to irrigate,we have already won the battle,my workers uses flexible hose connected to a borehole to water them every 2 days.they can water 1000 crops in 45 mins.note the hole system used, it contains and reserves more water . Now I remember you once talked about it. Thanks bro. It is a good low-cost method. |

okoroemeka: after several experiments on using organic chicken manure(ocm) for fertigation in cucumbers we finally decided to use the method of soaking the OCM in a big vat not putting it in bags and pouring water into it and after turning for 3-4 days the mixture is left to settle for a day so that the solid materials will sediment at the bottom, this method gives faster extraction of nutrients in the OCM,so we simply skim the solution and filter with a fine mesh,we have no method to check the nutrient composition of the OCM but the solution is so potent that if it drops on cucumber leafs that area will turn white in hours just like urea, the organic fertigation was a success no blocked emitters no dramas.with this method it's a cost cutting solution on feeding crops small dose of nutrients even on a daily basis with no added stress either on the body or in the pocket. . A very clean farm u have there. I am worried about biofilm formation due to microbial activities. It may take weeks b4 they start blocking emitters. This is just a thought. So experiment and keep us updated. . Have u considered buying nutrients like KNO3, MgSO4, Ca(NO3)2, Boron etc in bags? It will be way cheaper than all these foliar fertilizer stuffs. |

Tho Mr okoro once told me the fake is in market which i do not contest due to its porous packaging. . Hmm. I don't know if it is fake or not but I have used it and had no nematode problem so far. The one u bought for N1k, how does it look like? My own look like colored sand and from what I have read online, furadan is normally mixed with sand to dilute it. |

OluchiDelly: The popular one is furadan. Its sold less than 1.5k per kg. Its tiny granules like ewedu seeds. When you finished dressing your bed, broadcast it same way u broadcast ewedu seed. Slightly incorporate it in by using rake, then wet it after or before applying your seed. . May be sellers are cheating u. Furafan 1kg is sold for N400 in Onitsha main MKT. |

okoroemeka: from careful observation we found out that all habaneros and scotch bonnet varieties both opv, avenir hybrids or any hybrid and Cameron pepper always turn a brown color when blanched and dried,we have successfully dried and prepared a batch of avenir that even the market women cannot tell the difference between original Cameron pepper, but we're I am skeptical is chili peppers because they always retain their red colour even dried, that makes me to wonder if they are only sun dried or is it the blanching the changes the colour to brown, these are interesting questions that need answers,I think it's time to put on our thinking caps and conduct further experiments. . Thanks a lot. I have blanched some nsukka peppers and dry them. They maintain their color. May be it has to do with chemical composition. |

Yungbrym: Good day,I went to farm today and noticed that some of my plant are wilting, and some have already died due to wilting,I didn't see any sign of insects and the root looked healthy when I uprooted it.I am presently using rain hose irrigation.I would like your opinion on how to avoid it ,or stop this thing although it only affected my rodo pepper not my chilli . It is probably a soil-borne disease. It affected mine too, though not much. I just uproot them and dispose outside the farm. When they dry, I burn them up. This can minimize spreading. |

Furadan can be applied like NPK. The amount to apply is written on the product. . I will like to know if u got some bitter- tasting cukes? There is an injustice currently going on that many people can't see. Before, like in the bible times, it was the woman people will blame and want to stone to death - injustice! Now it is the man that is punished. Women are really out for revenge. When u hear them talk about men u will sense it. I know a story of a man that had a girl friend who later married another man. But years later, the old lovers teamed up and killed the husband and they were caught with the help of a small girl. Guess what happened. The boyfriend was banished in prison for 21yrs while the girl was set free to jump around. Reason? 'the boyfriend deceived the girl and made her join him in killing her husband'. . Back to this story. If the 15yr old girl really seduced this man, why shud she be set free? Why shud it be only the man that will go to jail? Has the meaning of rape been redefined? Men shud better wake up b4 it is too late. |

okoroemeka: well that's a serious blocking of the emitter if the problem is just not much you can cut off the offending emitter and replace it with another emitter and rejoin with joiners.this blocking issue is giving us nightmares on fertigating organic manure ,what if 30-40% of the emitter got blocked, hmm! . Thanks for the reply. Wrt fertigating with manure, I found this: http://brucezimmerman.com/articles-4/. Maybe, some drips handle manure teas better than others. |

Psalmy2cute: ok, thanks for the advice.. but at the same time.. what is the negative effect of not removing them?? will it stunt the plant growth.. I've also watched a video where I saw farmers removing branches below the y branch.. but the video is not in English and that was done for chilli pepper.. so I though it may be different case for habenaro plant . If plants that are too young start bearing fruit, they will likely be stunted or yield will be lower. I think this kind of pruning applies to all peppers. |

Psalmy2cute: as much as if like to prune my plants, I'm confused on how to go about it.. do I cut of the tip of every branch on this plant?? it seems like a lot of work . From my little experience so far, I will prune only plants that start flowering when they are still short. I will just remove all the flowers and young fruits by cutting the tip of the branches. But make sure u don't prune below the y-branch. Excess prunning will lead to gigantic plants that will waste pesticides without any increase in yield. . U see all those branches below the Y branch? Remove all of them because they easily break off when loaded with fruits or under wind pressure. |
