Family › Re: Should I Allow My Mother-in-law In Our Home? I Need Advice by Ferdinandu(m): 8:13pm On Mar 29, 2023 |
ozalogbo: I am the first child of my mother, and I have two younger male siblings. I am doing well financially. My wife is the last of four children in her family. My dad died when I was still in the university, and this affected my mum.
However, as she aged, her health waned. She was a retired teacher. My brothers are not in the country. Both of them are in Europe. I wanted to have my mother stay with me in her later years because of her health and loneliness but my wife did not want it.
Whenever she was ill and I brought her home to be with us, my wife was usually hostile, especially if my mum had stayed beyond a week. She did not hid her disapproval, and this caused problems in the marriage. People advised that I should send my mum away and pay someone to live with her and take care of her. They said that marriage was between a man and his wife, not between a man, his wife, and his mother. I did and peace returned. Eventually my mum passed on after a few years.
Along the line, my father in law also died. And down the line, my mother in law's health began to deteriorate. We live in the same town. Among my wife's siblings she is the only one doing quite well. Now there are suggestions that the mother should come and live with us so that my wife can give her proper care. I believe that her living with us and seeing her grandchildren will help her. And indeed i have no problem accepting her, but when i remember the treatment my wife gave to my mum, there is a strong revulsion, in fact, anger in me. I shared with a friend, and he advised i forgive my wife, but the revulsion is so strong that i would feel cheated if i agreed.
What do you guys think. She reminded me then that marriage was between a man and his wife only. Shouldn't this also apply to my wife now? You are just a Sisi. The time you would have stood your ground, you didn't, now you want to stand your ground on revenge, no. No old parent should be abandoned to die lonely, this is our African tradition. You allow your wife to have her way instead of you to call her bluff and give her ultimatum in the marriage. Don't allow the remaining old woman to suffer because you are the cause of the first incident |

Freedom comes with a price. The earlier you learn that the better for.Does beards stop the military and Paramilitary from doing their jobs but yet they are not allowed one. Learning that you have to build your own business is the only rule to certain kind of freedom [qu1ote author=Hamachi post=121920769]She has a chain on her leg and not her brain. I know a GM who puts on leg chain and she is ta very smart woman. It's just as some companies won't take you for using Hijab, the head is covered and not the brain. We need to have a paradigm shift in our mindset and focus on what is most important. And if at all a company sees it as being against their culture, is it not better it is discussed with the candidate at the interview. But I have a question, did the company told the candidate that you did well but because you are putting on a leg chain we can't hire you. We need to be careful with how we get one sided reports Simple solution would be to communicate that the dress code to the employee. You reject a good fit cos of leg chain. Next thing they will employ the incompetent person who wore suit and tie. What is the goal really? Also what is the meaning of leg chain in Nigeria? (1) Never vote again. It's absolutely pointless and a gross waste of time (2) Pursue personal happiness. Leave every other person to his fate. (3) Do everything I can to japa from this country this year. I can't allow my 3 children to grow up in an environment like this. (4) Never look back again. Make sure I am buried in the land of sincere people abroad. (5) I nearly had a heart attack watching Nigeria play a penalty shootout in an under 21 male World Cup a few years ago. That day I decided to remove my mind from anything football. Today I very rarely watch football and when I do, it is with almost 100% dispassion. I will do same with respect to Nigerian politics. It is not safe for ones health (6) I believe in God's Plan for Nigeria. I believe He is not yet done with this election. Unexpected and unprecedented events will unfold in this nation within the next 10 months. God will shake things up a bit and the chaff will be removed from the wheat As It is on my mind, you are writing it down |

lexy2014: Which law exempts the supreme court from issuing an order? How does the supreme court interprete the law? They interpret already made laws, they can issue orders to individuals state government etc but in the case of federal Government they are. just have to interprete whether what they are doing is within their constitutional provisions bearing in mind that they arms of govt on the same level one not above the other. What they are doing is just akin to what Buhari did in looking for loopholes in the constitution to sack the CJN. So I don't really blame them |
Politics › Re: “Supreme Court Order” Versus “Presidential Address”: Which One Supersedes? by Ferdinandu(m): 6:36am On Feb 17, 2023 |
Odibembem: Are u guys really serious or what? Do u know the meaning of Supremacy of the Judiciary? The Executive executes the laws but the judiciary interpretes the law. How can an executive order exceed a court ruling? The US courts has quashed many of Trump's executive orders. So in the case of the VAT case involving Rivers state and FG, Buhari can issue an executive order to end d matter? Then why sue the FG in d first place? Oga, the Supreme court order or judgement is supreme or why is it called Supreme? In the next election, when your candidate lose due to what u think is rigging and he goes to court up to supreme court, the president will issue an executive order that he did not win the election and d case will close abi? Some people and their tot process eh, u didn't do social studies or civics in school? You are totally wrong. In the case of Governance, the work of the courts even the supreme Court is to interpret the law not issuing order. The supreme in it's name does not in any way mean that it supercedes the Executive. The supreme in it's name have to do with the courts. It means whatever ruling or what ever case it has entered no other court has mouth there again. It is not about superseding everything in the country. The Trump Executive orders the supreme Court quashed must be the one they determined it is unconstitutional. In this scenario the Supreme Court work is just to determine whose job is it to determine the currency in use and there their work stops. They are trying to usurp the executive powers by using court order to wield executive powers. Just know this have to do with the powers of each arm of government |
Politics › Re: “Supreme Court Order” Versus “Presidential Address”: Which One Supersedes? by Ferdinandu(m): 6:27am On Feb 17, 2023 |
This issue is in the purview of the Executive. The work of the supreme Court in this case would have to be to determine whose job it is to provide the currency in circulation. They just have to say it is the work of the federal government or that of the state or even both, that and their work finishes not issuing orders. If what the President is doing is unconstitutional the Legislature work comes in they have to give the President Notice of impeachment following the whole constitutional guidelines. The supreme Court is trying to usurp the powers of the executive indirectly by using unnecessary court order. But Buhari woke up one day and with impunity sack the CJN so it is the seed he sow that is germinating and spreading |

sync: Dear Nairalanders, I’m in a dilemma and need your advice There’s this friend of mine who out of the blue contacted me last year October asking for a favor to come stay at my place a couple of days since she had an interview in Abuja. I allowed in her without hesitation since I thought it was just going to be a few days. Fortunately, she got the job.
When she got the job in October, she asked me to pls allow her stay for two months before getting her place. My people, it’s been five months already and she’s still not making any moves to get her own place.
The problem really is I am currently jobless. She doesn’t contribute anything to the house. I am responsible for our feeding, gas, electricity, everything! And I do not have money. The little money I have is from my generous elder sister who has been my helper since I lost my job. Weekends she sleeps all through while I clean the house. I also do all the cooking. She doesn’t cook.
I am a light sleeper so I get up at any slight movement. This lady gets up between 3 to 4 times every night to use the restroom thus keeping me awake all through the night. This really has a toll on me. During the day she goes to the restroom between 14 to 16 times. She doesn’t contribute to buy foodstuff but she eats 4 times a day
What have I gotten myself into. Please how do I politely ask her to leave without hurting her feelings and savaging the relationship I use to have with her. I am tired, depressed and jobless! The obvious is that some characters are not good for close friendship. Someone who now has a job and you are now jobless and it didn't touch her heart to start contributing to the household expenses and you think that character will give a hoot when you desperately need her help tomorrow . Stand up and give that leech an ultimatum of one month to get back your peace. Learn to say no to any help that will disturb your peace even if the person becomes the President of Nigeria tomorrow you will still be OK without the person. That is confidence. |

The attitude of his headless mob called Obidient is just the reflection of the man they support. It is an agenda, they are just trying all to execute it. All thanks to him, general overseers are now beating the drum of religous war right at the altar of the church. Calling candidate from other religion 'Killers'
I spent few decades in the Southwest before moving over to north. Growing up, I never at any point in time heard of Yoruba-Christian or Yoruba Muslim. These bunch of low-lives people started it in this election period.
I asked a friend yesterday, i told him what if Peter wins( God forbid it ever happens) , I said what is you guys plan to bring back religious unity after tearing it apart, instigating Christians against Muslims so as to favour your unrealistic political ambition?
Is your useless demon of a candidate that stood at the front of the alter, 'telling the church to take back it country'; -going to go back to the same church to church telling them the war is over? That they can now be friends with the Muslims, that they can now see them as same Nigerians ? Your shaky shaky candidate started by choosing one faith ticket because he feels he can deceive you gullible that it is religious war, when the whole plan failed like a pack of card you all now shifting blames. I'm don't even blame him for that because in politics you find your sympathetic crowd and find all possible means to hold them, I'm just angry you guys felt to acknowledge that the strategy you wanted to use worked against you and now you are all crying foul. Trump who never stepped foot in church was able to hold the Evangelical with promises of being one of them and that he is going to upheld all their ideals and they all voted massively for him first time but the strategy failed second. Accept you all have lost and move. Stop fanning religious animosity |

I have always had the intention of traveling abroad but i don't know how, so last year my girlfriend brought the idea of traveling and how she wants to try US study route and I encouraged her to do so. I also supported her so much with my money by helping her to pay her application fee and TOEFL exam.
While doing all these, we had a conversation and she told me that if she is able to get a fully funded offer that we will be going together and I will be going with her as dependent. Now my girlfriend has gotten admission but she is yet to apply for visa and she has changed plans. She does not want me to go with her rather she is advising that I should also use the study route ifi want to travel.
Note : we had the intentions of getting married but right now she doesn't want us to get marry. Getting admission abroad is easier than getting it in Nigeria. It is getting visa that is the issue. She never get visa and she is already acting up. Boy it is time you know your priorities |
