I told my fiancee to choose between her female friend and me and she told me she is going for her friend.

Why bother,It is an Optional course, nobody is forcing anybody to study it. I don't see the need for the uproar. I'm sure throughout South East nobody will be teaching or taking the subject . It is only in the North and South West where there are Muslims. Before now Islamic religion has always been part of the curriculum and nobody has never compel anyone to study it even during Military regime.

Arabic studies is not Arabic studies without the quoran. The major text book is the quoran. I live in the north.

You live in the North, I also live in the North. And you don't understand the language. Yes most Islamic texts are all Arabic but Arabic is a language not religion. By the way nobody is forcing the kids to learn it because it is Optional.

So u think its OK to introduce Arabic Studies...why? Why must our christian children have to learn a language that has nothing to do with them. Arabic is predominantly a muslim/Islamic language. That is the language the Koran was written in. Only very few Christians in Islamic countries have to speak it. What has this language got to do with the christian Nigerian Child...absolutely nothing! It would even make more sense to learn Swahili for the Nigerian Christian than Arabic. There is absolutely no justification for this farce, so don't even try. They should also introduce Hebrew for Christians cos Christians in Nigeria have no business or need to learn Arabic. The agenda is clear, we r not fooled by this theory that it is just a language, this policy must be reversed immediately so peace can reign

My Friend, the subject is optional, nobody is forcing your child to learn it. Arabic as a language has been there even before Islamic religion, so Arabic is not meant for Islamic religion even though most Islamic text are all in Arabic.

You people should cool down. Arabic studies is language studies, not religious studies. It is completely different from Islamic studies which is a religious studies. Even Christians in Arab speaking Countries conduct their Christian worship in Arabic.
