rka1: Isn't this what we have been saying on this thread since the BH saga started? It isn't about standards of living, etc and how can you negotiate with people who want an Islamic state against the wishes of the people who live there and the rest of the country.Referendum will settle all. How can we say majority of the inhabitants in the North do not want sharia if we have not investigated. The constititution afterall is just a piece of paper which can be amended anytime. |
Let everything come down to the table. When two elephants fights it is only the grass that suffers the most. People who make decisions do not suffer any pain at the end of the day. War is not the solution. |
rka1: The people of Chechnya want independence from Russia as they are a separate region. The NE of Nigeria isn't the same. There is difference between political and religious insurgents. Religious insurgents are hard to contain, ask Russia. |
rka1: We are more or less singing from the same hymn sheet. The situations in those countries that have been mentioned are a bit different in the sense that the community are by and large supportive of the rebel groups and willing to live under their rule or are fighting to create a state for their people i.e. the Kurds. You can never defeat terrorism even with the best weapons in the world. Follow the history behind Chechnya and you will come to understand. |
Obrafour: I think the Nigerian army exaggerates the number of BH boys they kill. The numbers are extremely outrageous, if those numbers are to be believed then why are the bandits able to hit back where it matters? I think the army includes civilian casualties to that of the BH dead.I agree with you fully, the number of casualties is being grossly inflated. |
Nigerian Airforce caught flat footed and loses two gunships at the hands of insugents. http://m.ft.com/cms/s/0/386c00ce-5b79-11e3-a2ba-00144feabdc0.html |
rka1: @ Mike ZA,Don't be silly, Nigeria is not losing the war. Why do you think the base was attacked? Because the Air Force has been inflicting heavy casualties on BH. The question you should ask is why were the Air Force caught napping and should have anticipated the attack because of their successful operations against BH.Chief, you will never defeat Boko Haram, unless you swallow your pride and seek a foreign help, but that will not come easy because they might force you to negotiate. |
drag_on: boko haram a ,military threat please.? Who did they kill in the attack? How many of them were killed? Were they repelled? There was no curfew before the attack, the curfew came after they attacked. It is the desperate attempt of a dying group trying to raise flagging morale.Helicopters down?.There are about 3 or 4 on order before now so what? The planes they got were probably the de-commisioned MIGS. You guys can't deal with poachers that use asymmetric tactics with hit and run and you think you can deal with boko -haram that blend into society?Stupppid!! It doesnt only have to be soldiers they kill. They destroyed your military equipment and killed innocent people. If you do not see BH activities as military threat, then you have something like a worm eating your brain. |
drag_on: courtesy of Beegeagle Blog:Just make sure BH does not bomb that one as well. |
agaugust: the difference is clear....Yes, you are right. The wars which you faught are nothing compared to those South Africa faught from the WW1 to date. Your victory against BH is misleading, infact it was supposed to have been marked "ongoing". Your army havent yet defeated BH and it is clear to the world that BH proves too heavy for your military. Wikipedia is telling lies here and it needs to be corrected. You never faught any world war and your military does not have such honours on their name. |
It is not yet confirmed as i heard from BBC if two Mi-24 gunships were destroyed during the insugent attack at the Airforce base in Maidiguri. Two gunships were deployed to Maiduguri during the state of emergency declaired by the president in May. It is too early to judge, but let us wait and exercise our patience until the truth comes out. |
agaugust: south africa has NEVER won any modern day war fighting alone. stop fooling yourself dude. So, What about Nigeria? |
chris365: Nope. Negotiation is off the table as they are being cornered. These kind of attacks are bound to happen every once in a while. What you should consider is the casualty figure and who still retains territory. But, do innocent people continue to die against those who are prepared to die? |

Eish!! Boko Haram, the president must just negotiate, nothing else. Really. |
drag_on: unfortunately, the Liberian war victory is not yet entered.South Africas war against Germany in South West Africa, now Namibia just on the brinks of the world war, which resulted in victory has not been recorded on the above list. My grandfather fought viciously on that war against the Germans and his pictures are still hanging on the wall. South Africa defeated Germany and colonised Namibia. |
agaugust: most of the south african technological achievements were purchased and transferred directly from europe, america, and israel.Intellectual property is never something you can sell, only fools can do that. I guess SA also bought heart transplant surgery technique from Europe. Bwahahaha. Do you even know that South Africa was also robbed by the world to ever have developed the first cashpoint(ATM) in the world. Moreover, SA does not have white foreign doctors or israeli engineers, only doctors from war torn and poor third world countries like Nigeria who are also under-qualified and who merely came to seek for greener pastures because their countries failed to offer better packages. |
rka1: This is just one sector; The second dullest brain on earth performed the first heart transplant surgery in the world. The second dullest brain on earth invented the first CAT scan in the world. The second dullest brain on earth was the first to discover that coal to oil refeneries, when the whole world could not know that there are altenative methods to produce oil. What have the giant brain produced other than yam? |
South African dullest brain is moving forward. http://itweb.co.za/mobilesite/defenceweb/home/item_id-32023/ |
The dullest brains making their mark while the giants lag behind in the world of technology. |
The dullest brain in the world "Aerosud" lands a contract to design the interior linings of A400M airbus. http://www.janes.com/article/30105/airbus-issues-a400m-contracts-to-south-africa-s-aerosud |
rka1: Component manufacture and not assembly in SA. That is done in a European assembly plant. The components most probably made by foreign engineers in Denel.Proudly made by South African engineers. Oh!! I forgot that you call white South Africans foreigner and if you can see me you will probably call me a foreigner as well. |
The second dullest brains in the world lands the contract to assemble A400m military transport aircraft. http://www.bdlive.co.za/national/2013/06/19/denel-lands-component-manufacturing-contract-for-airbus-military-aircraft Proudly assembled by the second dullest brains in the world. South Africa-is this not rhetoric.

agaugust: wow @Msauza, i will like to welcome you to the forum with this nice post that you missed in your absence my dearly beloved brother....Nigeria, a nation with 170 million fools: http://dailyindependentnig.com/2013/02/nigeria-a-nation-of-160million-fools/ |
drag_on: Your budget is so constrained such that it cannot utilise Alpha jets against BH. Who do you think we are SAAF.? we are buying more air assets while you guys can't get off the ground. You must bring them down to Soweto so that we can test their skills. |
drag_on: The good thing about the s.tucano is that it can sit upon boko.haram for hours preventing them from moving while the alpha jets bomb them,if they attempt to move it will just bomb their position or straff them with cannon fire, its rugged nature allows it to operate from a very remote FOB.Your budget is so constrained such that it cannot utilise Alpha jets against BH. You used them before with the intention of intimidating them with massive fire. The challenge that you had was that your pilots were so inexperienced that instead they bombed non-combat citizens. |
agaugust: most of the money in south african huge military budget is used to pay fat monthly salaries to your fat belly coward soldiers who dont want to die in any war with seleka rebels by returning to bangui to fight and show power. That is all lies my friend, HR has its own separate budget apart from that which is to maintain equipments. We have such a small well equiped military compared to your large poorly equiped military. I say again, your budget is just a drop in an ocean and will never run military equipments that SA have. You will only survive through second hand and by asking well industrialised countries to produce low-cost material for you. |
drag_on: You obviously don't understand how economics works, and many citizens of nations become xenophobic as a result.Investments bring investments which bring growth.Exploitation occurs when investments bring no growth. MTN in Nigeria improves telecoms, they go home with a few millions a year but improved telecoms means multi-million dollar companies rush in to invest.Once investments reach a critical level(if the population can absorb any excess overflow of products),a company changes from selling a product in a country to producing it there,as long as the infrastructure exist. For example a company that sells telephones in Nigeria because of the existence of such infrastructure(telecoms) can go from selling to producing cause Nigeria is a large market that can absorb the shocks that occur if they can't export This brings manufacturing jobs that increase economic strength. FDI is a sign of a growing future export market not exploitation. The Money taken away is nothing in comparism with the money coming in and the jobs created.Exploitation occurs when you are being sold stuff you don't need to Grow/compete as a Nation.Seemingly, you don't know the meaning of exploitation. You come from a country with limited political revolution, no wonder you don't know what is it to exploit opportunities. |
souldust: SA companies only bought 1.5 percent stake in Dangote sugar. Dangote himself owns over 90percent of Dangote cement. So, no! SA companies are not buying majority stake in anything. SA companies cant buy majority share in Dangote, FACT! Do you even know how much they bought that 1.5 percent? Over a hundreed million dollar. They would go bankrupt if they decide to buy majority stake in any of our companies.Tiger brand has bought more than 60% stake of Dangote flour. http://www.bdlive.co.za/business/retail/2013/11/21/dangote-flour-mills-pulls-tiger-brands-down |
drag_on: bad-belle, why do you wish an economy or country to go to ruin? xenophobia? anyway no more talks about economy,it could lead to a troll alert,i don't want to derail the tread.I don't wish any country bad but the blunder you ever made was to let hundreds of SA companies 2 exploit your economy, because majority of this companies repatriate profit back 2 South Africa. Moreover, they have bought majority shares in Nigerias existing companies, including those of Dangote. |
drag_on: There is nothing to be ashamed of, it shows that the kind of military we have is not some kind of yam you can plant in Nigerian farms. It has expensive machines that no any country in Africa can run. Including SANDF making it an incompetent Force.Nigeria's economy is bound to fall by the next coming years, while SA is expected to grow. The economists have already made that prediction. Search the web and you will get the details why. You will never come any near us because is our companies who are benefiting from your economy. |
drag_on: That says a lot more about S.A. and the SANDF than it does about Nigeria And Our Armed Forces,it is you who should be ashamed. There is nothing to be ashamed of, it shows that the kind of military we have is not some kind of yam you can plant in Nigerian farms. It has expensive machines that no any country in Africa can run. About the GDP, our own is good for the population of 50 mil, which is just below the one-third of Nigeria's population. So, for Nigeria to be on par with SA it has to grow 3 x the GDP of SA. Shame on you that a country with such a small population like SA is still gripping you by the horn in all respects. We are the true giants of Africa, who do not beat up their chest and pronounce themselves as such. |
