Your love of life is based on your experiences on earth. You might find an afterlife cumbersome if you spend it in a place that is unlike earth, such as Yahweh's heaven. That we are using a body part for a different task from its designed one is not exactly an argument against that different task.

If that sounds absurd then remember that 30yrs ago this argument about whether homosexuality is normal or not would have sounded absurd as well.

The age of consent is already below 10 years in some parts. For the purpose of this exchange I think what matters is not the age of consent but the idea that non consensual sex is condemnable. Once you can accept the idea, it's easy to see why homosexuality should be preferred to paedophilia.

It's not up to 30yrs ago that homosexuality was viewed as a sexual illness and a crime even in the US. But that stand was overturned to accept the more sexual liberal way of life we see everywhere nowadays. So maybe they should do the same for pedophiles as well. Lower the age of consent to 5yrs or 10yrs if you prefer so they can carry out their desires uninhibited. Abi u want pedophiles to remain celibate? Are they not human beings too?

The question of which conduct we should permit and which we should proscribe is different from that of which behaviours are natural and which are acquired/the result of our environment. For example, adultery is common place, and most people would agree that men are polygamous by nature and so it is natural for, at least, the man, to cheat. However, this has not stopped some states from criminalizing adultery. Would you say adultery is unnatural because it has been made a crime in some parts of the world?

Children are not consenting adults, and that's why pedophilia is not okay. Once you take away consent from any sexual activity, you have a problem. Try making love to a non consenting adult female and see what happens. Without consent, even our heterosexual love becomes an offence.

I think the logic is persuasive. You couldn't say where your abhorrence for romantic intimacy with your gender comes from, if asked. You certainly did not choose to be repulsed by men, sexualy. You just know you have it and you do what it says. You can't even begin to consider acting contrary to it.

In the same vein you can't trace the source of your attraction to women. It's there and you like it, end of story. You don't remember choosing it.

Someone who wanted to be gay would not only have to choose to be attracted to others of the same sex, but also to be repulsed by the opposite sex. What could motivate such a choice? Why doesn't the person go for bisexual or asexual, which requires a smaller mental overhaul? Why doesn't anybody seem to remember choosing their sexual orientation? There are no satisfactory answers to these questions which are raised when you call sexual orientation a choice.

Being wired that way is a better explanation.

Straight people have to decide whether they are straight by choice or just wired that way. Once you agree that you are wired to be straight and as a result cannot choose to be gay, you agree that anybody who is not straight couldn't have been wired straight. If they were, they could not choose to be gay either, just like you..

If you agree that the pastor must be financially better off than any member of his church then you can't turn around to say that it is a problem if the pastor is using the most expensive car in church.

When you say that a pastor is blessed because he gives, you fail to realize that most pastors here have/had nothing going for them other than their church. These pastors did not have a penny to give until the congregation came along with their charity. How can you now turn around and say that the pastor is being blessed for giving when the money he is giving came from his congregation? That makes no sense.

I love the idea but I think that if you consider it fully you would see that it doesn't solve any problems.

The major reason why people don't want their partner to have sex with another is that they believe sex can cause the partner to love them less/get attached to the other. This belief is not unfounded, if you ask me.

Let's assume that after you have sex with Bisi the first time, you find yourself wanting more. Let's say you keep going back for more for a year. Now, can you truthfully say that there is nothing between Bisi and you other than sex? If you can, then how about after Bisi has been fucking you for 5 years? How about after 20 years?

I imagine that you would try to draw a line somewhere and say one shouldn't do a person other than their spouse for such and such length of time. However, this would be your undoing because you would thereby have admitted that having sex with a person does lead to a connection between you two that is not about sex alone. I expect this connection to be an emotional one, which I'm sure you would consider cheating.

Can you therefore correctly claim that your spouse has no reason to be alarmed when you have sex with another person? If you can't, then sex cannot be relegated to the background.

Dude abeg report yourself to a doctor asap. Losing consciousness like that (and for three minutes at that!) could mean something is really wrong somewhere. If you truly believe that you died, you have to accept that something important in your body failed catastrophically. Healthy people don't die. So go and do check up before you die for real.

I don't think the Bible gives the precise age of the earth. If you don't interpret the creation story literally, you can fit quite a number of years into the first five "days". Since God decided to spend time creating the world, as opposed to just doing it all in less than an infinitely small moment, he might have just as well done it in billions of years as in days.

You also have the option of simply disregarding the scientific age of the earth. For all we know, the scientists are wrong, for God has tweaked their instruments.
