I'll share my own experience.

When i was invited for a meeting for my present job, i was given the opportunity to choose the time i wanted to come. I chose to come by 8am. The company is in Victoria Island (Lagos), while the company i was in then was in Ikeja. Off course i didn't want to lie. So the next morning all i did was to send an sms to my manager that i was going to be late that morning because i had to handle something urgent. As God would have it, there were no questions raised as to what exactly i had to do. When such interviews come ones way, just pray for favour and direction, and you'll see that the whole thing goes smoothly without you having to lie at all

Wow! That is favour! To be granted the grace to choose your own interview time.

I read with passion the last thread on the various excuses given in order to attend job interviews in another coy and I wondered what kind of excuse a Christian could give to honour interview invites.

Please I need opinions and experiences from Christians (or Muslims) who consider and see lying as sin and cannot for any reason (even a Shell interview) compromise their faith.

Last year I have had to turn down two invites because I had no means of honouring it. I applied for one and I was poached for the other. Though I did not reschedule the later because I didn't want it. But in scenarios like these, what should a faithful Christian do?

Please do go to church. It helps in refreshing your spirit and even if u read your bible at more, you get more exposed and a better ministration from the word of knowledge preached.

It is said that you should always ‘look before you leap’. Overlooking important parts of job descriptions before applying for jobs is one of the reasons job applicants are not shortlisted for interviews. Minimum Qualification
The minimum qualification in job descriptions may be academic or professional and most times both. If its academic it means that if you don’t have at least the qualification stated, do not apply. If its professional, it could be that you must have a certification or you be registered with a professional association. If you do not meet it, you will not get it, simple.

Minimum Experience
This is one of the most important things to look for as well before you apply for a job. Its necessary that you understand the experience needed for a job. For example, ‘work experience’ is different from ‘relevant work experience’ or ‘cognate work experience’. Just ‘work experience’ means you should have worked in any firm or industry or at least have an experience working while ‘relevant or cognate work experience’ means you must have been in that position in another organization before you can apply. Some recruiters/employers and applicants alike do not get this right and just ‘work experience’ means ‘relevant work experience’ to them.

Keywords
This is one of the reasons the CVs of potential candidates get delisted and shelved aside from the pool of CVs that comes in for a job position. Job adverts have keywords which most recruiters use in sorting out the right CVs. These keywords are identifiable in job adverts and descriptions. For example a job may require that the candidate be able to speak the French language, or should have a MBBS qualification or a NYSC certification. Now ‘MBBS’, ‘French’, ‘NYSC’ will be the major keywords employers will use to filter out CVs if they are en masse. So make sure you edit your CV to suit that purpose and the JD

Limitations
Always watch for limitations in job descriptions. It is very important because it serves as a road block to many applicants and saves them the worry of expectations. Always look out for limitations like minimum years of age and gender. This is quite important because your CV is going nowhere if these limitations are not in your favour. If they are, make sure you include it in your CV.

Deadlines
It is of no use sending your CV to an email address specified in an expired job advert. In fact the employer or HR person may consider such person unserious and may never take a look at the CV at all. So look out for the deadlines of job advertisements before you apply for that job.

Well according to the last message you sent to me purportedly to be from them, it says "Insufficient Content". So I want to ask? Have you been through the first stage before (the one that requires you paste blank ads)

Yes Google don't accept gaming site, but the message of 'insufficient content' is hope and let's keep it alive since the message was not about AdSense Policies.

One of the reasons for non-approval is that your content is actually insufficient. The posts are just words/letters, no articles or paragraphs or sentences...

Fill up the blank page and post more. Let's say 20 to 30 more articles then reapply.

Hello, that's the same thing I told you when you called. Google will not verify a bulk SMS website because of content. Google loves blogs because of fresh content almost everyday and that is what google is for... information! Even if you placed Adsense on that website, you will have little or zero returns or clicks in a year because nothing will want to make me go back to the website for new information or story or tutorial or news etc because it is just a bulk sms website. Please search the web, how many bulk sms websites do you see running adsense?

Yes, I am acutely aware of the Alexa situation and I'm currently making a lot of changes behind the scenes. So don't worry, we might be fine.

Yes Seun. The changes are good but may not account to up to 60% of what's wrong. You see on the other thread I said my site was going up and now to 3500 from 2000. But today after implementing an advice you gave to Jarus in one other thread (Content is King. Advertise your content instead of your website because when you have good content, people will have to go through your website to get and read the content)

Today I'm 1,927. I share my articles on LinkedIn where I know more of the users will be interested to read and probably have Alexa toolbar installed. If by any case I rank more than Nairaland tomorrow, I will never say it is traffic thingy.

Where I work, something was done. The Alexa toolbar was installed on the computer of every old, new, and even incoming employees. Let all mods install the tool bar and if there's a way to ask or plead with nairalanders to enable or install the toolbar you can do it or you can develop a Nairaland toolbar and integrate Alexa into it.

Google may be seeing something that you're not seeing and that others who will take a look at your website may detect (with PC view) upon this complaint

Interesting revelations!

The front page idea is a good idea. It is a forum and its uniqueness is that it has a front page. The front page helps to give you the 'important' stuffs at a glance. For example during hot era in Nigeria like Election, Protest or Political unrest, what I do is just logon to Nairaland and check the front page to get latest. This is better than going to the sections to look for news because spammers (like someone said) would have pushed it down and with spread and most times even to page 2. But the front page is longer and it takes days for topics to enter next page.

Seun here's what I'd advice:
Election is coming and Christmas is here. More people will be more engaged with the internet for news and good stuffs. Let your mods be ready for pushing those good and interesting stuffs to the front page and people will be engaged and will surely return.

As for the Alexa thing, I'm tempted to believe that more sites are rising with their traffic OR some coding has been done and it is responsible for it.
My website from about 1,900 (Nigeria) fell into 2,000 and then 2,500 and then 2,900. I added H1 tag to the header of my website and I fell more to 3,000 and then 3677. It kept falling. Then I removed the tags and worked on traffic (I advertised my articles on Facebook and shared them on LinkedIn) and now I'm 2,500 and I hope to improve daily.

Concerning the webmaster section thingy, the mods are working, but they need to work more. Some threads need to be closed the second it is opened E.G A thread reads "Learn how To Code WordPress bla bla" you open it and what do you see? just two words "contact me" so annoying!

Keep the good work on. One thing I'm sure of, Nairaland rules the land...!

WebHostingPal, this is the message I've been preaching but peeps here seem to think they can do it alone trying to be like Linda, cloning websites here and there and opening threads upon threads asking others to review my website, review my website. Daily I Shake My Head because almost everyone here wants the 'now now' benefit of what they are doing.

Try and take a survey of all the websites people drop here and you'll notice its one of these three types of websites:

FORUM (seun)
ENTERTAINMENT (linda)
TECH (jide)

Any other webmaster here that has something different should be commended because that shows a research into passion before paying for that website

Nigerians are intelligent and intellectual. We are as well creative. But sometimes we are not wise enough to know that forming partnerships and putting heads together is one of the first steps to finding something purposeful that can fetch profit on the long run and whip up commitment into the future that'll make them proud of what they must have achieved after several years.

Seun is not doing it alone and could not do it alone (I learnt at one time he had to pay people to post); Linda has a personal assistant that possibly source for stories for her and as well do a draft post for her to just finish up with pics and in her tone; Jide as well has guest bloggers who supplement what he does and I'm sure some writers help him post as well (I may be wrong).

But where does all these takes us?

Just recycling the wannabe orbit because no one will understand what work those guys have put into what they have today until they're ready to put as much work and coming together to creatively create something.

Pretty long list. Jide I really admire your work as a blogger. You're sure a role model for many others. Keep it up...

go by example. a lot of gaming sites depend on ads and if you can google 'game cheats' and the first few links give you sites that have adsense, that means it is a go.

A lot of the same gaming site did not get AdSense approved with the gaming site. They simply got approved with a better site and pasted their codes on the new website. That's the same thing lots n lots of people are doing today. That's why you can see websites with extensively copied content running AdSense.

1) Okay bro, don't rush. Believe me after you get approved, your next frustration will be getting people to click ads and that can really be frustrating.

2) I was the one that asked you to wait extra one month and that's the ideal thing to do because Google is smart and would not be too quick to think you've implemented what they asked within two days

3) I do not need your login ID and password. You just have to add me to your blog as an author and I'll do the rest. But first WAIT FOR ONE MONTH

4) Below are two screen shots of how to show Ads to increase chances of getting approved ( I tried it) and how you can add someone to access your back end of website (which I'll advise you do AFTER ONE MONTH and you're still not approved when you re-apply
