rvp2018: Slighly behind - and yet we are talking about 50M market - compared to 200M market. You claim to have bigger GDP than South Africa whose banking assets alone are nearly 370B. You are competing 2017 WITH Kenya 50B(possible) versus 95B. You should be competing with Egypt and South Africa - but here is Kenya slowly nipping your heels. Liar. Your banking assets is just 39b dollars. That is just three times lesser than Nigeria's bank assets. Besides, does assets determine the GDP of a country? |

rvp20182: No you haven't. To be better than Kenya in anything - you need to be like 4 times better! Ghana - maybe 5 or 6 times! - you're a country of 198M people - we are 49M!!!!!.
You've shown us to be at best twice or less Kenya in scale/volume - but less sophistication - in name any metrics. That is NOT being better than Kenya - that is being TWICE WORSE.
You guys really need to prioritize QUALITY EDUCATION SYSTEM. We are now on our 3rd overhaul of our BEST IN AFRICA education - so we produce PEOPLE WHO CAN THINK AND MAKE SOUND ARGUMENTS.Reading Nairaland is depressing. Our population is 190m. That is just 3 half times bigger than Kenya. Stop adding figures. We have shown to be three times/4 times/ 5 times better than Kenya in some parts of the Service sector. You can keep deceiving yourself. |

rvp20182: If you factor per capita yes and the fact that Nigerian bank sector is forced consolidation (Igbo lady) then another yes - We have 45 banks. Let not talk about co-operative and micro-finance sector that dwarf Nigeria. Lets not even talk about mobile money - which now easily see 45B dollars (half our GDP) moved btw phones.
Our finance sector is just more sophisticated and even in scale - they are going to overtake Nigeria soon. Thank God you have agreed that you are still behind Nigeria in the financial industry. Next! |

rvp20182: Not everyone is liar like you're accosted to in Nigeria. Go back and read again what I wrote. this time slowly. I told Safaricom annual revenues 2017 was 2.2B. I also told you the 1st HALF OF 2018 Safaricom already had 7% increase in revenue and extrapolated/predicted that this year it will end at 2.5B dollars.
I also did the same for MTN - your dominant player - and concluded the sector annual revenue for telcoms will roughly be 4B dollars in Kenya - against Nigeria 8.5B.
And profitability wise - I am betting kenya telcom sector is most likely more profitable. Lying master. Safaricom revenue was Ksh212.9b in 2017 which is just 2b dollars. And it was 71% of the total revenue of all the telecom companies in Kenya. How can Kenya's telecom industry make 4b dollars after fact proved Safaricom dominated the industry with 71%? Bloody liar. Calculate the remaining 29% of telecom revenue in Kenya with of Safaricom 2b dollars, then add what you get with the $2b. 2b÷100×29= 580m. 2b+5m= $2.5b. The total revenue of telecom industry in 2017 was $2.5b dollars. Where did you get $4b dollars from in 2017? You wan steal am? Dude, Kenya's telecom industry is competing with MTN Nigeria that only accounts for 36% of the total revenue of Nigeria's telecom industry. Bhuhahahaha. MTN accounts only for 36% of the total revenue of telecom industry in Nigeria and they earned #870b naira revenue in 2017 which is approximately $2.4 billion dollars. The remaining 74% will give you what? 5 times the revenue of telecom industry in the whole of Kenya. Bhuhahahaha.

rvp20182: Now you vaunted MTN Nigeria (who dominated your telcom sector) first half results indicated they had total revenue of 1.6B (21 billion rands/N567B) - from 55M users - Safaricom with nearly half it's customers had 1.2B.
You can add total revenue from GlobalCom & Airtel - and Nigeria would struggle to get 8B dollars.
As you can see population is nothing. 1. MTN shares in Nigeria Telecommunication industry is just 36%(see snapshot 1) 2. MTN 2017 revenue was not N578b(21 billion Rand), it was N870b (31.97 billion Rand) which is equivalent to $2.4 billion dollars. See snapshot 2 3. Safaricom revenue didn't get to half of this. Stop lying. 4. Since, MTN N870b amount to 36% of market value of telecom industry in Nigeria, what will the remaining 64% give you? 5. Nigeria revenue from telecom industry already surpassed $8b dollars. Nigeria made almost 10b dollars in 2014. see snapshot 3.

rvp20182: When you find an industry outside oil & entertainment where you beat Kenya by four times - then come and shout. When it comes to services - I have shown you with data that Nigeria at best is equal or twice Kenya - thanks to it's sheer population - it cannot be more that. Generally Kenya has more sophisticated & mature services sectors....that is only second to South Africa in Sub-Sahara.
I know this is beyond your paygrade but let's go slowly.
1) Telcom - in 2018 I estimated Nigeria will end the year with total sector revenue of 8.5B - and Kenya 4B. You obviously think our telcom sector is just Safaricom & Airtel only - we've got Telkom & FinServe & other small operators. Safaricom control roughly 30M subscribers- and the rest share 15M. Safaricom last year had annual revenues of 2.2B dollars..and already in 2018 first half they've hit 1.2B (7%) increase..so expect Safaricom alone to hit 2.5B dollars. The rest who control 15M subscribers will add another 1.5B in revenues. 1. Safaricom didn't make $2.2b dollars revenue in 2017 which was last year. Instead, Safaricom made Sh45.1b revenue last year(see the first snapshot). It is not even up to 1b dollars after I converted it. This accounts to 71% of total amount of revenue made by all the telecom in the whole of Kenya in 2017. (See snapshot 2 ) Since, Sh45.1b account for 71% of revenue of all the telecom in Kenya, the remaining 28% will amount to Sh32b Shilling. Approximately, Sh77.1b shilling was the total revenue of telecom industry in Kenya. Now convert that to dollars, you will get $748,440,000 thousand dollars only. That is not even half of Global com revenue of $1.5 billion dollars annually. Bhuhahahaha This year, Safaricom revenue is just Sh55.3b (snapshot 3). . Where did Safaricom make $2.2b? Liar.

rvp20182: Top based on what.Youre just horrible logic wise.SportPesa is global and lead in Africa by far based on revenues and earnings.Sportpesa annual revenues are more than 1B dollars. That is why it sponsoring so many leagues..including being main sponsor of Everton and Hull city..and has deal with Arsenal.Thisthe power of mobile money.Just watch kenya the next decade as we write the next chapter of financial innovation. OnlineBettingCodes.co.uk is a guide dedicated to online betting. They aim to help players in choosing the best bookmakers for their needs. This is not from one yeye lying Kenyan. Besides, the compiled the list of the best online betting sites in the UK and BET365 came top? Can you argue against this known fact? If you say SportPesa revenue is $1b then Nigeria's gambling market value is 4 times of Kenya's gambling industry because $4.2b was the annual revenue of only the online betting sites in Nigeria. That is why one of the betting sites could afford to buy a whole clubside in Portugal, sponsor Nigeria female league and Nigeria national league. Just one. In Gambling industry, Nigeria is far ahead of Kenya even international onlinebetting site said so.
