chrisooblog: did your eye not see where i said KC doesn't deserve his call up.
guy you are smarter than this was ajagun ever an outstanding player in any club he played for? please post his above average stats let everybody judge
the gassed out echejiele is still with monaco by the way plus with him we won afcon. please remind me what did we win with a fully gassed taiwo.
ogu pulled trees, ndidi pulled trees, iwobi was decent, etebo sef try
due process followed when players you like or fancy are called up.
rabiu doesn't deserve a call up same as nwakali how is that controversial ni tori Olorun? If you are against mediocre why are you defending his call up stylishly? How can you know of other player outside your comfort zone? You are asking if Ajagun was ever an outstanding player in any club he played for and you think you are smarter for asking such unintelligent question when it is all over the net for you to know!? Hmm! Do you know Abdul was Dolphin most outstanding player when it won the NPFL? Do you know Abdul walked straight into Panathinaikos team after his exploit with Dolphin? Do you know this same Panathinaikos team is the most successful Greece club in Europe and the 2nd most successful club in Greece yet he walked into the team? Do you know he was a starter for two and a half season before a change of coach? Do you know Abdul won one MOTM in one of the matches that led them to win Greece FA cup yet he was not called? Do you know he played in the Europa league with Panathinaikos and even scored? Do you know he won MOTMs and team of the week in the Eredivise (something Kelechi Nwakali couldn't do until he was demoted to the second division of Eredivise) yet he is ignored? Do you know Abdul won MOTMs and team of the week in the Belgium league just last season yet the coach and peeps like you want us to believe Kelechi is in the same level with Abdul? How can you know all these when your focus is you? Without the help of the national team Iwobi, Ndidi , Etebor and Ogu for dey one obscure league. Gbam! For your information Rabiu club is far better than that division two league of course. |

komekn: Firstly, I never got a visa. I was born in the UK my Father who was an academic and Military officer in the UK brought me back at the age of 11 to do high school in Warri, Nigeria.
Quite a few years ago, my Father invited me to do an internship at the accounts department at a higher tertiary institution in Nigeria.
Cut a long story short, there was massive wide spread and reckless corruption and misappropriation. I challenges every situation irrespective of who was involved and exposed multiple frauds. At the end of a few months almost all the staff were sacked. Leaving me and the Chief accountant who joined secret cult.
It was terrible they even Slaughtered a goat in the midnight for satanic rituals. I took my leave after that.
I still get involved in Nigeria but rarely, the depths of corruption makes it very difficult for me to be fully involved.
People like you can not have people like me involved in Nigeria. Because you are part of the problem. You accept, agree, birth and promote corruption. That girl thinks everybody must be like am but we must fight to finish. |

Mickael2: But are they....are they really all we have? Is it that we do not have any player playing in their position in a top league? Or we just decide to hinder under the umbrella of 'they are too old' and then invite other below par players? A player like Taye Taiwo was still in an active league few seasons ago but he was never invited, he was the top scorer of Kemi back then yet he wasn't invited and people here said it's because he is in a lo league, so which league now is higher between Bundesliga 3(the boy in question I believe just got promoted to Bundelisga 2 this season) and the Finnish league? I put it to you that if Taiwo got the invite he so merited back then he would still be playing professional football, I mean we invite players from Chinese and Saudi leagues but we rejected Taiwo's invitation because he was in Finland, what's the excuse?! Or didn't he distinguish himself before going to that Finnish league? Case number 1.
Case number 2, is Ajagun a ball boy in Belgium? Why settle for a midfielder who got kicked out of a dutch league team(VVVenlo), failed to make a substantial impact in dutch division 2 and is now wasting away in Porto B? He is young, 20, wouldn't it make more sense to use more seasoned professionals? When did the national team turn to a rookies' joint? Or hasn't Ajagun done enough to merit an invite? Or at 29, is he older than almost half of our team?(Mikel,Balogun, Ighalo and the rest) or is it that we do not have any need for a midfielder? when we can barely create chances through the middle in games. or is it that he hasn't shown his stuff? Is it not if you get invited that you can show what you have?
Case 3, still on our need for a midfielder, before KC gets a look in somebody like Rabiu Ibrahim should even get a look in. For those that do not know, Rabiu is a sure fixture for Slovan Bratislava, he has a position tied down even with a broken leg and the last time he played for Nigeria(I can't recall the game) he did very well yet he never got invited. Now Bratislava is one of the power houses in Slovakia and if I am correct they are in the Europa league or at least played the qualifiers is that not a bigger place than the LigaII in Portugal? Or is it that Rabiu is now an old man too? Or is that we don't like players from Slovakia? has he been invited enough to show his thing and he failed? How did he not at least merit an invite in that Atletico match and who is too he wouldn't have taken those academy boys on a ride? Let's be honest here, that match against Atletico makes no sense, any seasoned professional would have shone like a million stars in the game.
Case 4, Ramon Azeez. Is he now a Spanish player? OK let me not say much about him because he is more of a DMF than CMF and is not exactly in direct contest with KC or Jamiu or the other guy.
Case 5, Efe Ambrose. So a playing that struggled for game time in Cardiff last season is now better than one of the top players of a top 6 club in Scotland? I mean the talk is ridiculous.
All in a my point is we have better option, but it is either we are not looking hard enough or there are some backroom politics surrounding this list. I mean it makes no sense that guys are busy proving themselves everyday and yet they do not get invited. Onuachu tried so much but did he ever get an invite? Onyekuru is probably going to come to this match against Seychelles and sit on the bench, players that deserve the invitation are overlooked for other below par players. Dey have started calling those players you listed average players just to justify their baseless argument. However, no body can take anything away from this your intelligent and honest write up except they are biased, two faced double standard fellows and product of corruption. Well done sir. |

komekn: Where do I start.
What's the structured methodology that should be based on objective standards used to measures competency. Which should always be about consistent continous top class outstanding performances in your club and league.
" As a man thinketh so he is"
People like you, are the reason, why Nigerian governance is in the corrupted dysfunctional state it is in. You are the disappointment that creates the Nigeria problem in all if it's ramifications.
You accept corruption, you feed corruption, you justify corruption and then you ENTHRONE IT.
People like you are the reason progression in the context of good governance has eluded this nation for so long. And unfortunately continues to elude us.
Shockingly you probably think of yourself as a progressive youth.
Then you add crass ignorance to your nonsensical proposition. Saying "you paint English boys to be decent human beings".
Firstly, we are talking about Nigerians in the UK not English people.
Ademola Lookman, Tega Abrahams, Tega Onomah, Ovie Ejaria, Seyi Ojo, have very promising football careers. Those careers are not under pinned by selection to the SE.
They are not English rejects but very promising young footballers on the verge of top class careers in football.
They do not need call up to the SE to bolster thier careers. The desire to play for Nigeria is out of the love of thier Fatherland. However, that's not an excuse for abuse and corrupt manipulation in the name of Egunje.
For These English Nigerian origin players who are not hungry and desperate. They are all young multi millionaires and not in naira. They simply do not ascribe to corruption or the abuse of of due process for self interest. It's Totally alien to them.
Just like it is too me.
On the contrary you therefore select players who are failing in place of those who are succeeding.
If you are the future then Nigeria has already FAILED. People here drink sin like pure water. Before this time, many rejected the idea of bringing players from second division and even told us that certain players merited call up based on the pedigree of the league they play but as usual the two faced double standard fellows didn't disappoint. Imagine, one saying these are all players we have and we should make do with them hence a player struggling in Portuguese second division and a player who just finished playing in 3 Bundesliga player(though now in 2 division) should be chosen ahead of players in Championship, Belgium pro league etc. Is it not here these fellows said that players in the Championship should make the EPL first before they are considered for the national teamteam? They even called the segunda division that is miles better than the Portuguese second division lowly league and asked if these players are good enough why are they in lowly second division? I no longer take these fellows seriously. |

Nigeria does not need the services of your English boys as much as they need Nigeria. The Super Eagles was not created to absorb England rejects.
This tale you are weaving that English players don't have a bone of corruption in them is laughable. The end justifies the means, if your boys want to represent Nigeria let them do what others are doing. The Super Eagles is meant for Nigerians. I have seen Iheanacho try to do too much when ordinary pass would suffice. Trying to say he isnt in Vardy's league is kinda low blow if you ask me. Pressure to deliver can make goals elude you. Ask Falcao in the EPL. Is Iheanacho in the same level with Vardy? |

safarigirl: let me quote my lecturer: "The concept of merit varies, people could merit things based on the criteria of the person handing out these things"
For instance, maybe Nwakali merited the invite based on his performance against Atletico Madrid. I remember when people were clamouring for Kelechi after the Atletico game. Rohr was asked about Nwakali in a press conference and he said that the coaching crew has taken note of his performance and his time would come
If Rohr has decided that the time is now, the first game post World Cup, I do not see why you all are saying Nwakali should not be called up. Nwakali and Ebere Eze are not on the same level. Nwakali has had a go at the senior team and excelled, Ebere has not gotten that chance yet. So, saying Ebere merited a call up above Nwakali is wrong.
This brings me back to the requirement that club performance will get you an invite, national team performance will earn you a place. Both players are not at the same stage, therefore Nwakali merited his spot.
Compare Ebere Eze to Semi and Jemiu who have not been capped at all You mean Nwakali wey dey still struggle for second division of Portuguese league after his less impressive performance in the second tier of Eredivise, na em no dey the same level with Eze because he played one friendly wey ATM scored at will when dem want? Bhuahaha! Chai! Eze is miles miles miles .................. Na so d thing no get end. As at now. |

So because he joined Porto B team does that mean the quality we saw against Atletico has vanished or diminished?

TheSuperNerd: Look, I don't wanna drag this into a ground that waters down Moses' achievements but let me make one thing clear.
Okocha was not among the leaders of that 94 Squad. And for crying out loud, that was our Bloody Golden Generation led by Keshi, Yekini, Iroha, Rufai, Eguavoen and co.... With talented youngsters like Oliseh, Okocha, Amokachi, Amuneke.
Have you forgotten that Yekini and Keshi were there and failed to qualify for the 1990 WC? Does that make their other achievements null and void??!
Mikel was part of our failures in 2015 and 2017. And so was Moses too in 2017 especially as he was the culprit for missing a clear chance created by Iwobi in kaduna that would have buried the game for good but he squandered it and The pharoah of Egypt, Salah went on to punish us for it with a late equaliser. Moses was part of our downfall Egbon. He was there when we failed and also when we soared. So stop your childish exemptions of him from our failures only to include others like Mikel and co.
I repeat, Moses was not the alpha and Omega of the Super Eagles and is also not the best Super Eagle in his era. He was one of our most outstanding during his time with us, YES! But that is where it ends.
Take a look at the future of the Super Eagles on the wings today that showed us a super sweet glimpse of what is to come in the coming months and years in the GWG. Henry Onyekuru's Awesome Audacity and Wicked Finishing in front of goal... Samuel Kalu's Awesome Wing plays, runs and crosses... Iwobi's MOTM-like showing for Arsenal... Etc... Our future with Moses would have been tastier but even without Moses, it still looks so good and hopefully, the FIFA hammer won't fall on us... Today, it is expected to fall but I trust all will be eventually sorted. Even DSS Operatives were (or are still are) at the NFF glass house to ensure that no invasion comes through from the Giwa camp. Nigerian football is experiencing that new dawn I foresaw that inspired the title of this thread. Just give it time... Jab doesn't make ones argument intellectually better rather makes the argument loose credibility. |
