Evening everyone.

Frank.R i greet you Boss. I saw you feedback concerning my SOP via mail.

I can't go through your thought concerning my SOP nor access my inbox messages in my mail. I'll appreciate if you could pls kindly send it here on NL.

I'll be glad if you do so Boss.

Thank you Frank.R.
Hello Adedayo, sorry to hear you're unable to access your inbox messages. Nevertheless, I'll post my reviews here.

Having gone through your SOP, I have the following to say:

1-) Your passion for your proposed program was extensively expressed and the manner in which you linked your current job role and past experiences with your intended program is great.

2-) Why the program in broadcast journalism is too lengthy. Please reduce it as it can bore the visa officer. It should be concise and focus on a few key points.

3-) The sub-heading where you discussed about WHY CANADA NOT NIGERIA was well substantiated and convincing.

4-) Your reasons for coming back is not so strong. More practical and logical reasons should be highlighted and not surface reasons which you gave. There was this particular area where you mentioned about your NYSC and how you deployed just to stay close to your family is not relevant and I have scrapped it off. Talk more about your parents properties which you're traditionally heir to as you did and must return home after studies to continue managing, discuss about the obligations and responsibilities which falls on you as the only son and why you will be coming back to continue discharging your duties and can't abandon them for a foreign education, your family business (if any), your career prospects in Nigeria etc... All these mentioned can be your unwavering commitments back home.

5-) In every SOP, you are expected to talk about your finances, who is your sponsor? Who will be responsible for your expenses while studying in Canada should also be explained.

6-) You also did not make reference to your school of choice in Canada, what facilities does the college in Canada offer that has interested you so much to further your postgraduate studies there and not in Nigerian higher institutions.

7-) Finally, I found so many errors (Which includes punctuations, and spellings) while going through the letter and I have corrected them.

Do the needful and resend me the letter for final vetting.

Regards,
Frank

*LONG POST***

First Application
Submitted: 4th April
Biometrics: 5th April
Delayed: 29th May
Reason: Purpose of visit, insufficient fund to pay fees without working in Canada.

Second Application: 13th June
Biometrics: 22nd June
Medical mail: 22nd October
Medicals done: 5th Nov (IOM Abuja)
Uploaded: 7th Nov
Approval/PPR: 8th Nov

Submitted Docs:
SOP
School admission letter (Carleton University, MEng Mechanical Engineering)
Financial Documents: Bank Statement (First Application had just a balance of 1 million, this second application had a balance of 11 million).
Treasury Bills, Shares, Properties were also submitted.
Graduated 2017. Just completed NYSC last month
During this second application, I ordered gcms for my first app, saw the reason stated by the VO (go through my timeline to see this), but I had already submitted my application so there was nothing I could do. I wanted to resume this Fall.
Towards the middle of August I sent out a lot of CSE containing my school fees receipt and also seeking for an expeditious review of my app. I didn’t get any responses immediately apart from the regular generic responses which came after like a week. I ordered gcms again and it came after 20 days. I found out my app was stuck because of an error in collecting data from New Zealand. Shortly after this I started receiving mails that my tuition receipt has been received.
My review of eligibility didn’t change throughout.
I sent a new admission letter from fall to Winter. Reception was confirmed. I stopped worrying. I looked at goingforward and admired her for being pious. I remembered my God.
I started doing early morning special prayers concerning this visa. This was in October. I partook of a 3 days dry fast in my church. 2 weeks later I received my medical mail. IOM was fully booked but God’s favour located me once more. I did the medicals and got my PPR yesterday.
What I did differently in this second application was I involved God.
Prayers do work and never ever relent. God will deliver unto those expectant of their visas in Jesus name.
I want to also thank Jeremy and Frank for taking their time out to reply my questions and advise me. God bless you both. See you all in Maple Land.

Ps. If you’re interested in the prayer points I used to pray send me a pm and I’ll send them to you. God bless
Congratulations brother! I am happy to be part of your TRV crowning achievement. Thanks for your kind wishes. Go and represent us well in Canada. We hope to join you soonest.

Pls how much is the recent Paper application?
Is this your first application? If yes, you will pay 68k plus which is inclusive with the biometrics and SMS charges. On other hand, assuming it's a reapplication, you will be charged 61k plus which excludes a biometrics fee.

Since the application hasn't been refused yet, is it possible the CAIPS file could come before 30 days?

?
It will take a minimum of 30-40days for the applicant CAIPS file to arrive.

Mine is 21 weeks today
Still on background check
Eligibility review hasn’t started
Upfront medicals passed oct 3rd
It’s really sad
I'll advice you order your CAIPS File, so as to know the stage your application is presently in. You can't continue to remain calm, while your application is gradually heading to 6 months in few weeks time and your eligibility review hasn't started.

Yes I was.

The subject of the letter is ‘Validity of your Biometric Information’
This must be your first application that's why you're getting a correspondence notifying you of your biometrics validity. I know of 4 different applicants within few days of receiving this letter, their application was approved, some denied. Your approval is close brother since you've been called for medicals.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Frankrobbn1:

Do they still reject people after medicals?
We encountered several cases of applicants on this reputable thread that was called for medicals and were refused of their visas, this was common last year when Accra was in charge of all applications from Nigeria. Ever since this year, when applications was shifted to Nairobi Angels and London Saint's, we haven't seen any applicant that was refused after being called for medicals. Thus, if you're called for medicals, it's a positive sign and your application is gone pass half way.

Good morning Guys...

Hope everyone is doing ok?
Please, I would like to know from those who applied online how you were able to fill out the 10 years employment history on the study permit application form, considering the fact that the space provided has only 3 rolls which is not enough for the history.

I know when I applied using paper route, I just had to fill and print extra pages of the employment section to show the 10 years history. So how is it done when applying online?

Thanks.
You can't do same for online, because the IMM1294 study permit form can not be merged with an extra file. I'll advice you fill out the additional employment pages showing your 10 years history. Thereafter, scan, merge and upload it with your supporting documents in the client information section.

Hello Nairalanders,

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isa. 55:8–9).

God’s ways are higher. Trust that he has a divine purpose for every delay. Our viewpoint may be limited, but God sees all things. Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” God may be putting everything in place before revealing His blessing to Us.

May God's blessings come to us speedily in Jesus name. I decree and declare open heavens upon our Canada study Visa applications.

Have an approval filled week in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

I need your help here-
My sister misspelled her surname in her NECO result - how can she correct it?
She should walk into any of the high court close to her and get a sworn affidavit explaining the mistake in her surname. Alternatively, she can pay visit to the NECO zonal office in charge of her region and make a report on this. This process will cost her and will take a lot of time. Hence, why I recommended a sworn affidavit.

Please I will like to know what schools I can apply to for a PhD in public health, and would be given a tuition waiver and scholarship.
Please help me....

Thank you.
Hi Mudicua,

Below are list of universities which offers PhD programs in Public Health and also offer funding to all admitted doctoral students. Although they are very competitive and spaces are limited. The best approach to funding your doctoral studies is to seek out for supervisors who must agree to oversee your research before admission will be granted.

1-) University of Toronto
2-) University of Calgary
3-) University of British Columbia
4-) University of Waterloo
5-) University of Alberta

Best of luck in your academic pursuit.

Whats the implication of submitting my application without Police Clearance?
Many folks here have shared their success story and didn't include a police clearance certificate. So, no implications if you didn't include one. If CIC requires it during your application processing, they will request for it.

I hardly see anyone recommending University of Waterloo, Two of my friends are presently on FULL scholarship in that institution, and they dont even have 1st class.
Anyway, it depends greatly on several factors.
The moniker is a Nurse and she requested for school's offering her proposed area of specialization of which University of Waterloo doesn't offer Master's in nursing program, that's why it wasn't listed in my previous post.

Thanks so much for the reply, it was helpful.

But please one more thing , what do you think I should say I have been doing for the past 10 years since I'm not disclosing my previous post secondary details...

Any ideas ??

Will be very helpful.

Thanks a lot
It was an issue like this that took me off from contributing to this thread as at the beginning of this year for I was wrongly accused of encouraging people on how to tell lies in their various applications. Therefore, I would only suggest you say that as the first child of your parents, you've been asisting in the affairs of your family's business all this while and you didn't deem it necessary to further your studies immediately after high school because you wanted to spend some time in the family business so as to understand what area that needs improvement and focus in the business. Then, having worked there, you discovered that the business finance and budget is something that needs more improvement. With this discovery you have now made up your mind to return back to school, with the hope of coming back to take up a challenging role in the family business so as to enable the business flourish in an international level. Include an employment letter and work ID in your application for admission. If there are other training certificates of any kind, you can also include it to show you're not idle.

Firstly, start by searching the below shortlisted universities in Canada which offer Master's in Nursing:

1-) University of Alberta

2-) Thompson Rivers University
Kamloops, Canada

3-) McGill University
Québec, Canada

4-) McMaster University
Hamilton, Canada

5-) Laurentian University
Greater Sudbury, Canada

6-) University of Western Ontario
London, Canada

7-) University of Lethbrige

You may likely get scholarship for the number 1,3, and 4 universities.

All the best!

Please who knows if University of Manitoba requires tuition payment before registration (MSc)

Also, can anyone list universities in Canada that I can get admission for MSc, register without tuition payments and pay when I am about to write exams or something related?

I hope I explained well.
Yes! The university of Manitoba will require you to pay a tuition deposit of 2KCAD plus to secure a space for the accepted term.

Few schools I know that doesn't require a tuition payment prior to the start of classes are:
1-) The University of Winnipeg,
2-) University of Ottawa
3-) Carleton University
4-) University of Saskatchewan

The above listed universities may vary depending on your proposed course of study.

Hi nairalanders, I got to know about this group few hours ago. I'm in a cross road and don't know what decision to make, and I would need your help especially from those who has applied or are in University of Rgina.

I applied few days back to the university of Regina for an undergraduate course because I had a third class in the university here in Nigeria. So my aim is to take another undergraduate course in Canada without disclosing I have once attended a university. So i am using just my high school credentials to apply.

The problem now is that when I was filling the application form, it was written that pls disclose if you have had a previous post secondary degree and provide details....(this I skipped in the application form)

Now I have been sent a message from the university providing my student number and to submit all documents and not to withhold any information about any post secondary college I have once attended... and that Failure to disclose attendance at a previous post-secondary institution will lead to cancellation of your application.

Here is the email below

" Congratulations on submitting your application! You have been issued an ID ........ Please include this number on all correspondence you have with the U of R so we can serve you better. To complete your application we require the following:

High School Transcript(s). Please click here for specific country high school information.

University or College transcript(s) if you attended post-secondary institutions. Failure to disclose attendance at another post-secondary institution will lead to cancellation of your application.

Proof of English Language Proficiency (Click to see the list of ELP Options)

A copy of your passport

If you have not been in school for over 2 years please briefly describe (a sentence or two is sufficient) what you have been doing since graduation

*Please send all documents in PDF format to international.admissions@uregina.ca."

I don't want to be denied admission because of the grades i had at my previous university if I provide them with the transcript.......because this was what happened when I applied to the university of Winnipeg early this year, I was denied admission because of my grades even though it was undergraduate course I applied for using my high school certificate which I had very high grades in (only had to provide my post secondary documents because it was mentioned I did) .

Please what should I do, what steps should I take huh

Thanks all in advance.
Since you already told them (University of Regina) that you don't have any Post secondary education while filling the online admission form. Simply present your high school certificate (WAEC/NECO) and explain in detail what you've been doing since you last left high school till date. Also, the University only work with the information provided by you and won't know if you have attended any post-secondary school before now.
