sacrono: Hello everyone.
Pls I have a big confusion. I've been going through school websites for my masters, most of which specify that I don't need an English proficiency test like IELTS if I graduated from an English speaking country. On the other hand I see everyone talking about taking the English exams.
Can I really get masters admission without IELTS in Canada given that I graduated from a school in Ghana? You DON'T need to write IELTS once you graduated from an English speaking country and the language of instructions during your undergraduate were taught in English language. It is important to note that Ghana is also among the countries waived from showing language proficiency. Kindly go ahead with your application for master's admission. It will end in praise |

Anon123: I will advise wen u reapply u dont include your phd or masters in your application or you go for express entry. @Anon123, I appreciate your insightful comments and contributions on this platform. However, I have concerns that the bolded suggestion put forward by you as regards @milkytins enquiry is misleading and falsifying. Advising @milkytins to conceal the fact of having acquired a Masters and PhD in his reapplication is misrepresentation. Please note that withholding material facts relating to a relevant matter according section 40(2)(a) of the Canadian Immigration law would automatically render him inadmissible to Canada for a period of five (5) years. Therefore, I don't believe this is the best move at this point in his application. milkytins: I also clearly stated the reasons for this new program in my SOP. My B.Sc., M.Sc. and PhD are all in Computer Science and I need to specialize in Data Science and apply it to Healthcare. And we don't have any program for Data Science in Healthcare in Nigeria. Computer Science is a general program while Data Science is a specialised program. @milkytins, truth be told it is almost impossible to convince the visa officer that you're a genuine student. The GCMS note has adequately enumerated the concerns of the visa officer and reapplying to study a master's program which is lower than your already completed degree doesn't show a career progression. As a consequence, I would strongly encourage you to explore the Express Entry route, max your IELTS (8,7,7,7), get your credentials evaluated by WES/ICES and apply to become a permanent resident of Canada. The PR route is straightforward and more assured once your documents are complete. As always, it will end in praise |

Thanks I would prefer the money is transferred from the father's account rather than an Uncle who is seen as a third party in the context of the Canadian immigration. With this, she doesn't need to provide much explanation as per the origin of the funds. Canadian VO have more regard for parent's sponsorship and it will increase her visa approval chances. ConradAce1: Requested Date. 01/10/2020 Office Paris Text. Foss seen and integrated searches completed. Have today reviewed the file as well as the information and documents contained therein. Based on the documents provided, especially those relating to funds, reason for travel, family ties and previous trips, I am not convinced that RT reqs in good faith, that the funds are sufficient / sustainable for this study trip. . The cost seems to me disproportionate when I consider the nature of the previous studies, the economic situation (income and present assets) of the applicant and / or the immediate family and the employment prospects / potential wages. There does not appear to be a logical connection between the planned study program and the academic and professional background. I am not satisfied that she will be a bona fide student leaving Canada, if required, after an authorized stay. I am not satisfied that requesting a bona fide student under R179. File refused

I will appreciate your comments thanks. I regret to hear that your friend's study permit application was delayed. A glimpse at the visa officer's notes demonstrates that PA is not applying for a study visa to Canada in good faith (which implies that she is not a bonafide student). The VO is not satisfied that the funds mapped out for her studies is reasonable given her income, economic conditions as well as her salary on the completion of the program. And that there is no logical progression between your proposed program in Canada with her previous studies and current employment. Given the above enumerated concerns of the visa officer and in summary of the below points highlighted by you on how you intend to rebuttal in her next application; HOW I INTEND TO REBUTTALApply for 09/2020 session - Go for a PGD not a Diploma in Journalism - Pay first year school fees. The fees this is affordable. - Sponsor would be Dad/ Mum & uncle would be secondary this time. Or I get a student loan. - Money would be transferred to her account to make it look all sealed. - Work on the EOXI'll advice that the uncle sponsorship should be scrapped off completely in the next attempt. If truly the uncle wants to provide support for her studies, he should do so by sending the money into the PA father's account in little denominations so as to avoid raising the eye brows of the visa officer. The entire first year tuition should be paid into her student account in the College and funds should be transferred to her personal account to demonstrate funds accessibility by the PA. Applicant should go for a program that is reasonable in light with her current work experience i.e a PGD in Journalism. More importantly, however, the LOE must be well detailed, coherent and straight to the point by highlighting the changes that have been made in the recent application and properly explain her employment prospects in Nigeria. PA should provide justification if the pay scale for journalist professionals is very impressive with job security that would outweigh the cost and investment made in her studies in Canada. I would advice that she should maximize every opportunity by referring the visa officer to one to two web links on the internet where it was stated that there is a dearth need of foreign journalists in Nigeria. I hope this information helps. All the best in her next attempt. It will end in praise. |

charlyduru: Good day Good people, Hope we are all safe. please a friend of mine just got denied and attached is the reason. He did his bachelors in Thailand and extended it to a masters but wants to finish up his masters in Canada. We showed solid home ties to Nigeria and am surprised they evaluated him based on ties to Thailand. Please wats your take on this? thanks. why will they think he wants to come back to Thailand and not his home country of Nigeria to work.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your immigration status.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit. • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the limited employment prospects in your country of residence. I regret to hear your friend's study visa application was delayed. Having gone through the generic response from the visa officer. Its most likely that your friend's current immigration status in Thailand does not qualify him to apply for a study visa to Canada from there. Accordingly, I will advice that he should return back to Nigeria and file for his re-application. The Visa officer has expressed concerns due to the limited employment opportunities in Thailand and/or his home country. PA should explain in detail how his proposed program would be a benefit to his career prospects and the employment possibilities for professional in his chosen field of study in Nigeria. fehinebony: Finally PPR DROPPED! (Long post alert!)
The whole process has been very overwhelming. My family and I have been at it since 2016, 2 visiting visas refused(2016 $ 2018) previous Study permit refused(2019) in between I had 3 yankee Visa refusals(2018 & 2019) despite being a frequent visitor. In January 2020., my husband got his Canadian visit visa(5year validity) after his 4th Application and guess what, his application took 12 working days. I attempted PR, wrote iElts once in 2018 ( R: 9 L: 8, S: 7.5,W: 6) but Age(currently 38 yrs) and 2nd degree were factors that didn’t work in my favor. I applied for GCMS and it came with a refusal note summary that was entered in ERROR! (check old post) Please allow me to Thank God o! ( Ejo, if you don’t believe in God just allow me thank him Biko) don’t use my post to start a religious argument. Nagode!
Timeline Application: 19/6/20 Medical request 21/07/20 Medical passed 29/07/20 AIP 18/08/20 BVL 21/10/20 PPR 22/10/20
Trust in God(yes I said it!) Never give up, A refusal is not a permanent denial, we didn’t have as much funds as we had when I submitted my first study permit application, my husband and I had submitted our domiciliary($) then but for this application, we did not have enough money in the accounts so we left it out. I had a 12 years study gap which I explained in details in my SOP
My Application approval still feels like dream.

cc @lekiboboe @Chocs @Frankrobbn (still awaiting your mail reply sir) Changing programs to another in an effort to address the concerns of the visa officer in no way affect the credence of your application. Tee1583: Hi everyone, I am a newbie here, and I have been reading up on the thread. They have been quite insightful. Please I would appreciate if I can be guided in my decision making.
Here is my scenario
I studied chemical engineering with a 2.2 graduated in 2004, worked in an oil servicing coy as a process engineer for like 7years. After which I didnt do anything for like 3years. I started a beauty business in 2015, Salon/Spa.
I would love to do a postgraduate program in canada.
Now my real question is which pgd is advisable to go for with a high probabilityof admission and Study Visa?
In chemical engineering field or in business management? Betterstill any other program advise?
Also I would appreciate suggestions on which province has high visa approval and suggestions of colleges I can apply to.
I would appreciate your kind responses. If your business is legally registered with CAC and functional in Nigeria. Your best bet would be to opt for a business management program rather than chemical engineering. This is because you've been in the business field for more than 5 years and still counting. It will be rational in the sight of the VO if you present your case as an entrepreneur. By so doing, include relevant documents like transactions receipts, screenshots of your business online presence, SOA of the business etc. that would solidify your immigration case. You may also apply to University Canada West for her MBA considering you've vast experience in business. It will end in praise. |

And congratulations to everyone that has received his or her PPR.
A quick question please, My passport will expire in 3 years and 7 months but my program spans for four years. Would it be advisable to do a new one or submit it that way whenever it is requested for?
Anyone with an answer please reply? Thank you very much. 3 years and 7 months is a whole lot of time to the expiration of your passport. Please don't renew the passport at this time. It is totally inappropriate to do so. It doesn't matter the duration of your program, in a situation like this, the visa officer will issue you a visa that would last until the duration of your passport, which can easily be renewed in Ottawa, Canada.
