What was FFK doing before becoming a minister. Governance and government appointments in Nigeria is just for self enrichment. They should be ashamed of themselves for all these unexplainable wealth . pol23: Just as you have mentioned in your write up , you were still a kid when June 12 happened . So you won't know the gravity of the annulment of the only true and fair election in Nigeria. Try and put sentiments aside , the current political and economic problems we found ourselves in Nigeria today stemmed from the annulment of that election . Chief MKO Abiola could have walked away but no he stood and fought for the peoples' mandate , losing his wealth, wife , families and even betrayed by supposed allies and friends . So my dear friend let us put sentiment aside and for once be fair in our reasoning and outburst. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Health / Re: Why I Need To Re-chew After Eating by franktolk(m): 7:22am On Mar 16, 2018 |
Rumination Syndrome What is rumination syndrome? Rumination syndrome is a rare behavioral problem. It affects children and some adults. Rumination syndrome causes an automatic regurgitation of recently eaten food. If your child has this problem, he or she will usually eat meals normally. But, after about an hour or two, undigested food comes back up into his or her mouth from the esophagus. Your child will either rechew and reswallow the food, or spit it out. Usually, this happens at every meal, day after day. Rumination is a reflex, not a conscious action. Rumination syndrome is a rare problem. However, it may be underdiagnosed because it is mistaken for another problem. Although still rare, rumination is being diagnosed more often in both children and adults. Experts think this may be happening because healthcare providers are now able to spot the problem. Then they can diagnose it. Rumination is not actually happening more often. What causes rumination syndrome? Experts think rumination is unconscious. However, they also believe that the voluntary muscle relaxation of the diaphragm becomes a learned habit. It is similar to the typical belching reflex. But rather than burping up gas, the reflex causes actual food to come back up. What are the symptoms of rumination syndrome? Rumination is different from throwing up. With rumination, the food is undigested and often still tastes the same as when it was first eaten. The symptoms of rumination syndrome may look like other medical conditions or problems. Always talk with your healthcare provider for a diagnosis. How is rumination syndrome diagnosed? Since throwing up is much more common, rumination syndrome is often misdiagnosed as a vomiting disorder, such as delayed digestion (gastroparesis) or GERD or heartburn (gastroesophageal reflex disease). To diagnose rumination, healthcare providers need to ask the right questions. For instance, asking what the food tastes like when it comes up is important. If it still tastes good, this means the food was not digested. This means that rumination syndrome is a good possibility. Vomited food has been digested and typically is not kept in the mouth. The symptoms of rumination syndrome do not get better with usual treatment of reflux. How is rumination syndrome treated? Specific treatment for rumination syndrome will be decided by your healthcare provider based on the following: How old you are Your overall health and past health How sick you are How well you can handle specific medicines, procedures, or therapies How long the condition is expected to last Your opinion or preference There aren’t any medicines available that effectively treat rumination syndrome. The best way to stop it is to relearn how to eat and digest food properly. This requires diaphragmatic breathing training. A behavioral psychologist usually teaches this, and it's easy to learn. The technique has to be used at the start of every meal to avoid regurgitation. Over time, most people can master the breathing technique. This will stop the bad symptoms of rumination syndrome. Can rumination syndrome be prevented? Experts aren't sure why rumination syndrome starts in the first place. So it's unclear what can be done to prevent it. Living with rumination syndrome The good news about rumination syndrome is that it doesn't seem to do much physical damage. In rare instances, it can cause problems with the esophagus from the acid and reflux. In some teens and adults, it has caused a small amount of weight loss. Work with your healthcare provider or your child's healthcare provider to know the symptoms. Then work with a behavioral psychologist to end the pattern. When should I call my healthcare provider? If your symptoms get worse or you have new symptoms, tell your healthcare provider. Key points about rumination syndrome Rumination syndrome is a rare behavioral disorder in which food is brought back up from the stomach. It is either rechewed, reswallowed, or spit out. The food will be described as tasting normally and not acidic-tasting, like vomit. This means it is still undigested. This problem is a psychological disorder. It may be mistaken for vomiting or other digestive problems. Behavioral therapy will help you to notice the pattern and work to correct it. Rumination syndrome should be considered in anyone who vomits after eating, has regurgitation, and weight loss. Next steps Tips to help you get the most from a visit to your healthcare provider: Know the reason for your visit and what you want to happen. Before your visit, write down questions you want answered. Bring someone with you to help you ask questions and remember what your provider tells you. At the visit, write down the name of a new diagnosis, and any new medicines, treatments, or tests. Also write down any new instructions your provider gives you. Know why a new medicine or treatment is prescribed, and how it will help you. Also know what the side effects are. Ask if your condition can be treated in other ways. Know why a test or procedure is recommended and what the results could mean. Know what to expect if you do not take the medicine or have the test or procedure. If you have a follow-up appointment, write down the date, time, and purpose for that visit. Know how you can contact your provider if you have questions. Career / Re: First Bank, Whtycleon Sacking Staff Massively by franktolk(m): 8:12am On Sep 09, 2017 |
Nigerians like doing things the wrong way . A contract job is that where you are employed for a specific job,at a specific rate for a specific time period . All the condition of service would usually be spelt out in the contract papers . As a contractor the hiring manager is not bound to pay you holiday allowance, sick leave allowance, pension contribution ,insurance etc . In view of the conditions have stated above ,in Europe (which I know of ) and probably in the U.S and other civilised world with good labour laws you will find out that at every point in time contractors usually earn more than permanent staff because the hirer is not liable to pay any future or immediate benefit usually paid to permanent employee. So most times you will find out that while a permanent staff may be on a £36,000 per annum job a contractor could be hired for that similar job in the same office and would be paid ; let's say £400 a day but the contract could be for just 6months or 12 months with a probable extension and when its not extended or when the projects ends the contractor would have to leave and look for another contract elsewhere. As a contractor you are more like a business man , so at every point in time you have to be a fast thinker and very calculative , you need to make good use of whatever you're earning , investing your income wisely ,saving for the raining day , have a back up and always looking for other job openings that may likely pay better or with longer contracting period. In Nigeria, its however a big shame when I see contractors been treated like slaves . They are poorly paid despite the fact that they are excluded from every other benefits . Its all wrong ....and the government would need to do something very fast . 12 Likes 1 Share |

Do ur investigation very well , Nospecto and other High yield schemes were grounded by CBN when banks were no longer getting business as usual . All the High yield investment schemes had their bank accounts frozened and that was what led to the premature end of those schemes in 2007. CBN now cannot wield the same power because MMM does not have any special account where participating public put their funds . What would you say of a credit and thrift / Esusu / Ajo etc where people come together ,the first person ofcourse will take the total contribution and the cycle continues. Tell me how this is different from the MMM model? Or what can u say of the high street banks that pays peanuts interest on deposits but charges outrageous interest on loans that are not even made available to the needy customers but rather given to themselves . Nigerians are suffering , no overdraft facilities, no credit cards,no social benefits , no form of accessible credit. The system has failed and now that the people have devised a way of helping themselves the capitalist spirit in us is envious that at last the common man has a ray of hope . 29 Likes |
Education / Re: Geography Vs Urban & Regional Planning: Which Should He Go For? by franktolk(m): 11:49am On Dec 05, 2016 |
I will advise him to go for Geography . Geography is an all encompassing field that involves even the Urban and regional planning , Physical and human/economic geography,Geomatics,Integrated Geography, sales and marketing etc According to www.geolounge.com "Geography has been branded a unique science of bridging the gap between social sciences and natural sciences. Hence we have two main sub-disciplines in geography. These sub-disciplines are Physical Geography (natural sciences) and Human Geography (social sciences)." Geography can easily open up doors of international opportunities for you because it is general and not specific ,unlike Urban and regional planning . If you move abroad and you say u read urban and regional planning , they would first of all look at where you are coming from- Africa -Nigeria , what can you really categorically point to as a good monument of urban and regional planning in Nigeria ? With Geography you can still conveniently branch out into Urban and regional planning either in the future or at a Master degree level. Don't just get carried away with the name 'Urban and regional Planning' Human Geography Human Geography which is the second sub-discipline is of no less importance because essentially studies the people, cultures and communities existing in the world with a view of understanding its effects on the environment and vice versa. This means that the sub-discipline tries to understand the relationship that occurs within and across space – space here referring to specific locations – and place. The scope of Human Geography is somewhat broader that physical geography and thus the sub-fields are more numerous than its counterpart. These subfields are namely: Cultural Geography (trying to understand and describe the occurrence of various cultural groups with reference to space. Economic Geography (studying the relationship between economic systems and the biophysical environment). Historical Geography (understanding world history in terms of space and time). Population Geography (studying cultural composition, growth, migration patterns as related to nature of places). Political Geography (studying political and governmental features of regions) Settlement Geography (defining what could be termed rural and urban areas and why?) Health (Medical) Geography (health and disease study across space and place). Essentially, Geography is considered the field of the three ‘Ws’, i.e. “Why is What Where”? Meaning the field studies ‘phenomenon’ both existing and anticipated. Physical Geography The first sub-discipline to be discussed is Physical Geography. Why? This is because Physical Geography studies the all processes and pattern that can be consider natural on the Earth’s surface and since it is has been established in the science that the earth came into existence before humans, the physical environment is always studied first. There are constant interactions between people and the environment and also between elements of the environment itself and this is the focus of Physical geography. Its importance is growing daily with the different types of environment issues that seems to the popping up day by day in the world we live in today e.g. water shortages, global warming, deforestation, tsunamis, erosion, to name a few. The sub-discipline has four (4) view points namely the Atmosphere (air), Lithosphere (ground), Hydrosphere (water) and Biosphere (the meeting point of the other three spheres also referred to as the ‘Life’ sphere). Sub-fields in Physical Geography are numerous but they can be broadly categorized into 5 which are Geomorphology (earth’s form and structure) Hydrology (study of all forms of water underground, over-ground and in the cloud) Climatology (study of long term weather called climate and its effects on life) Biogeography ( study of plant and animal life and processes) Pedology ( the study of soils) The analytical and research skills gained from your geography degree are attractive to a range of employers Job options Jobs directly related to your degree: Cartographer Commercial/residential surveyor Environmental consultant Geographical information systems officer Planning and development surveyor Secondary school teacher Town planner Jobs where your degree would be useful: International aid/development worker Landscape architect Logistics and distribution manager Market researcher Nature conservation officer Tourism officer Transport planner URBAN AND REGIONAL PLANNING Urban planning graduates play a key role in how the places we live in are managed and developed and possess a variety of transferable skills Job options Jobs directly related to your degree include: Facilities manager Historic buildings inspector/conservation officer Housing manager/officer Local government officer Town planner Transport planner Jobs where your degree would be useful include: Building surveyor Civil Service administrator Community development worker Environmental manager Estate agent Landscape architect Planning and development surveyor In summary both courses are equally good , but weigh all your options very well and make the wisest decision . 8 Likes 1 Share |
