happymummy:Ewoo oh! Sorry. Abeg is it the same FOHOW Products? Lord have Mercy, Amen. |
If you haven't been able to sustain a diet, then stop dieting. In so far as you call it a diet or actually going on a diet, your mind will always trick you into feeling like you're being denied and in bondage; and of course your brain will rebel and you'll eat the wrong foods and in massive quantities. " For you to change your body, you must 1st Change your mind". My suggestion will be to stop dieting and make healthy choices with portion control, your healthy choices should be high protein and low carbs. Tell yourself its your new 'Way of Living', 'Way of Eating' rather than calling it a diet. Change your Swallow to Oats (Quaker Oats, White Oats), You can grind and make it like Semo. Let your soup be more vegetable based like Okra, Edikaikong, Eforiro, Afang, even Egusi without added Oil etc. In fact you can use tomatoes/tatashe mixture to add oil colour to them without adding palm oil. It turns out sweet regardless. Substitute Oats where a recipe calls for flour. Eliminate refined sugar and flour in any form. . You can also use the Oats Flour to make things like healthy Pancake (Oats,Egg, Honey if you need to sweeten it). You can use the tomatoes/Tatashe as oil in Beans and Yam Porridge. Also make the larger part of our diet protein. Protein fills you for longer and helps minimize your sugar cravings, add exercise like Walking and Aerobic dancing and it'll start coming. Although you might lose weight slowly if you have PCOS but losing weight improves PCOS and will also improve your weight loss rate and other PCOS symptoms like Fatigue, Bloating etc. You can go to www.africanweightloss.com and download free 2 9ja foods based weight loss meal timetables if you're into things like that. I've used both 2 timetables there and they work. It has things like Moi Moi, Akara, Vegetable soup. Or you can just use it as a guide to preparing your own meal timetable with food items you already have in your house. Planning your meals and having them on ground helps so that you don't get hungry and grab the quickest thing which is usually the worst things and also end up over eating them. Cleanse your house of all junk food. Just so that you don't feel like n bondage of a diet, you can choose 1day cheat day like Sunday where you can take one portion of something you're missing at a meal not the whole day. For instance, I love bread and when I was using this method to lose weight, I always make my Sunday Lunch Toast Bread/Sandwich sometimes with fried egg, no margarine or mayonnaise. If the cheat day, cheat meal turns to a problem, then eliminate it. Weight loss, Healthy Weight is doable and achievable. Just tell yourself "I can, I will, End of Story". Should you need more support and or encouragement on your weight loss journey without weight loss supplements, am here for you. I a still on the same journey myself although on a more "weird" way of eating. I have manged to move from 94kg to 77kg approx. and still counting. My next target is 75kg and I'll take it from there till I reach the ultimate goal especially in terms of body fat % not just what the scale says. Take Care Sis. One Love. |

divinemandate:Most I've seen are in bottles of 120 Capsules or 60 Capsules, 1200mg - 3600mg. Price ranges from N2500 - N3,500. These are as found in regular pharmacies around me in Lagos. Lagos/ Eko for show in posh areas like Lekki / Ikeja especially pharmacies inside Malls like where Shoprite is can make the price higher. ![]() There's Omega 3 single capsule only so be sure it says Omega 3, 6, 9. |
Babyadorable:Sis I'll suggest you just go with a Prenatal instead of an ordinary Multivitamn. Prenatal Multivits are tailored to the needs of the woman as per ttc while multivitamins are not. For instance Vit A in high dose is not good for ttc and early pregnancy while its ok generally. Please use the weight gain mixture judiciously overtime and update if it works for you with the quantity you take per day and number of days taken. It is well and shall end in praise to God. |
99billiondollar:Just ignore him, he's just seeking attention, that's all he's been doing on this thread. Instead hit the "report button" on his post and report him. I just did that and reported him for violating rule no 2. I hope the moderators do something fast. He can't be coming here to make accusations, insult us and make inciting comments. Enjoy your weekend. |
lulumcneil:Sorry Dear. Only God will save us. Please if you have any packets of the products used or proof to substantiate your claim, and to let us know the actual product, don't hesitate to post. I wish 9ja was an advanced country where one can make claims on things like this. Mama's una don hear, 1st report from a Mama was Dollyham now its FOHOW. |
Up NEPA, PHCN, or whatever the name is now . Abeg my Sisters make I go begin iron all these clothes I've been piling for over a month now. Have a fun & happy weekend everyone. |
sugah:Ok. Thanks for sharing. I don add to my brain oh. Perhaps the much we get from food will be enough to avoid issues in ttc and pregnancy, so better not to add the supplementation via tablets/Prenatal? Just wondering. I'll ask my Dr. Am Fibroids free now but don't even want anything that will give the evil suckers and witches a chance to even dream of growing back especially while am not done with having kids. @ praisefulmum and icemum please see @ Sugah quoted post on Folic Acid and Fibroids. |
happymummy:I don't think so. Not necessarily but I do know that facial hair is associated with hormonal imbalance and then pcos. It is the male androgen hormones that causes the hair to grow and when it's in excess in women, there's an imbalance, it causes abnormal hair growth noted mostly on women's chin. When my scan showed PCOS, my Dr asked me if I had hair growth on my chin which I've never had, he asked about my weight history which has always been mostly overweight and then my CM trends which has almost always been non existent especially Fertile CM except when am doing something to help with CM. We discovered that I have Hormonal Imbalance and PCOS. So for me a woman with facial hair esp if its little maybe just a few strands should 1st think of hormonal imbalance before PCOS. The woman could just have an imbalanced hormones without PCOS or maybe both. Why not do at least a scan close to Ovulation and get your ovaries and follicles checked out. There are even women who are thin and still have PCOS (Thin Cysters). PCOS is not just on the overweight (Fat Cysters). |
Fvine:@ chom4shizzle for PCOS. |
praisefulmum:I doubt if foic Acid affects Fibroids. Fibroids feeds on estrogen to grow. Folic acid plays a great role Foic Acid is one Vit that a ttc or pregnant woman must take. In fact women are advised happymummy: praisefulmum:Please don't avoid folic acid, spina bifida affecting babies spine is terrible & very real. Folic acid is very important in female and male Fertility. Fibroids feeds on estrogen to grow. Folic Acid is one Vit that a ttc or pregnant woman must take. In fact women are advised to start taking Prenatal or at least Folic Acid 3months prior to TTC. In fact my Dr doesn't want me on Prenatal because he says it could affect my appetite & make me overeat & gain weight due to the actions of the Multivitamins. But he insisted on Folic Acid & Omega 3&6. I have pcos, am working on my weight, so weight gain is not an option. I've managed to move from 94kg to 77.6kg and yet to get into the healthy weight BMI sef. Her Dr said not to worry and I believe him, what I know mostly happens with pregnant women who have Fibroids is experiencing pains, cramps and/or light spotting if at all. Most end up carrying full term and giving birth to healthy babies. My sis who has this only experiences bad symptoms during her pregnancies when she eats stuff high in sugar. So she stays away from refined sugar & eating sugar cane esp in high quantities in all of her pregnancies and she always carried full term, her babies turned out fine. |
chom4shizzle:The facial hair (hirsutism) is one of the big signs of unbalanced hormones and pcos, please do your research. Omega 3, 6 & 9 supplement combo is good for regulating hormones. My Dr asked me to take Omega 3&6 but all the combos I've been seeing contains 9, so I went with that. The Omega's are gotten from deep sea fish, flaxseed etc and is safe all through a woman's cycle. Continue with your weight loss, it helps a great deal. Am sure your Dr is not worried and doesn't want you to be because he knows he can bypass it by inducing Ovulation. My Dr is also not worried but advised me to make efforts in its mgt for my general wellbeing. PCOS even causes fatigue and bloating in some women amongst other bad symptoms, so if nothing is being done as per ttc levels at least you consider the other benefits controlling it. You should do a scan close to Ovulation to see what your ovaries and follicles are like. |
miraclefromGod:lol, it's no big deal. abeg no put na by force oh. Although I know say na joke. Well even BD is also a good exercise *winks* But honestly even making healthy choices can make a huge difference for him remember that men's metabolism is faster. Just help him make healthier choices and stop eating late and high Carbohydrates foods like Swallow at night. Things like that sha. Everything in moderation. Too much exercise is also bad. Am even glad he's the overweight one and not you. Not that am glad he's overweight oh, no misunderstand me. Just saying cos overweight is believed to play a role in female fertility and ttc. |
chom4shizzle:Do you have hairs on your chin? It's one of the signs of pcos. I ask because you said you're hairy. Am still learning about PCOS, even though I got the diagnosis years ago, my previous Drs have always told me that it's nothing to worry about and I was Mumu enough to believe and not research on the to even manage the pcos or improve it. Well fast forward to the new Dr am seeing who told me it's easily managed with Ovulation induction drugs to achieve conception but that he's encouraging to make lifestyle changes that will also help me on all the other symptoms of pcos apart from conception. With that being said, am sure your dominant follicle could have been affected by the clomid. You need to do a scan on a cycle you're not on clomid. infact 3 cycles after comid if you haven't conceived. The reason being that the clomid can still affect your cycle a month to 2months after taking it. It's better you do the scan very close to your Ovulation day. I too have regular cycles but my Dr says that most could be poor Ovulation with eggs not good enough for a sperm to fertilize. He also said if a sperm manages to fertilize such an egg, that there could be an early miscarriage if no post ovulatory support like progesterone is given. I did a long post recently on PCOS. I'll just quote and mention you so that you can read it. Note that some Cysters (PCOS ladies) do get pregnant even without Ovulation drugs. |
miraclefromGod:61kg at 5ft 6inches is at 21.7 BMI and you'll need to weigh about 70.3kg to fall into the overweight region For your DH, at 5ft 11inches and 90kg, his BMI is 27.7 which is in the overweight region. He needs to weigh about 81kg to go into the healthy weight BMI region. |
iomoge2:Bright Idea in my opinion. That's the scan on Day 12 to kill all birds with one stone. Day 12 scan will clearly see PCOS for sure where it exists. Thanks for the idea. |
cuddlemoi:Sorry that you had to experience ttc and all that you're going through as a result of it. Am glad you've taken all to God. He'll definitely wipe your tears.I don't know your Aunt's intention for asking but she shouldn't be asking in my opinion, pregnancy is not hidden and when you conceive everybody will definitely know. For me people who try to flaunt their kids and mock me or do negative stuff like that, I make sure I don't give them the satisfaction of my tears or sadness. Even if their comments or attitude pain me, I'll bear it and pretend & maybe vent/cry in secret and beg God to come to my aid. I've learned over the years to give diplomatic answers, sarcastic answers, funny answers etc but without being insolent or insultive. I base my comment and answer on your own. For instance I have a friend who all she does is flaunt her kids and once she calls me it's always my son this , my daughter this. When I visit her same thing. We never discuss anything apart from her family. At 1st I didn't mind but now what I do is to 1st start asking her about her lovely daughter and sons even before she has a chance to say anything. So that way she knows am not envious and it doesn't bother me. She has learnt and doesn't do it as much as before. Though am lucky I don't have family members including in laws breathing down my neck. Take care AF is another opportunity to conceive. |
foe123:Sorry. I know its very difficult to revisit a pain thing, even me that had a good experience will dread it if I were to need to repeat it because of all the horror stories about it etched in my mind. But it's a useful diagnostic tool for checking the fallopian tubes. Can you maybe try another lab, take Ibuprofen at least 30mins before the procedure and also pray about it. Take care. |
foe123:Sorry Sis, hope everything turned out ok afterwards. Maybe the pain reliever hadn't kicked in well or had worn out or not enough dosage or maybe it's just your body who knows. The most important thing is having a good result after the procedure and getting your baby blessing. Take care. |
Loisemm:I won't say what you heard about orange is wrong but it is also not right and I'll try to explain. Oranges are high in Ascorbic Acid (Vit C) and Folic Acid too. Vit C in excessively high does causes miscarriages in fact some people try to use high dosages of Vit C to try and induce an abortion in very early pregnancy. It works for some while for others it doesn't. Human beings have unique body systems and when God says no, even if you drink kai Kai or Agbo join, the foetus go dodge am and no miscarriage will occur. in fact it will even nourish the baby more ![]() The bad news on oranges you heard is because of their high content of Vit C. If you ask, you'll also be told to stay away from Lemons. But both are actually not bad for ttc and will in fact help you conceive and increase chances of baby boy. Our own very Mama here conceived the months she started taking plenty Lemons. Lemons are acidic but turn alkaline when they go into the body and will make the body alkaline which is optimal for good health. Lime is very controversial for ttc and pregnancy so please STAY AWAY FROM LIME. Lime also weakens s.perm. On the other hand, Vit C and Folic Acid in moderation and good doses increases your Fertility. Its good for both male and female fertility. Oranges, Lemons and high Folic Acid also increases your chances of having a Baby boy. Folic acid prevents Spina Bifida that affects babies spine development in early pregnancy. Vit C in a moderate dose also helps women on Clomid react to and ovulate better. Although there's a possibility that it can increase dryness and acidity associated with clomid. The KEY IS MODERATION. To get excessively high dosage of Vit C which leads to issues, one has to be taking oranges, Lemons and high Vit C foods like they're going out of fashion plus also taking Vit C supplements (tablet, liquid or powder). 1000mg and below is a safe dosage and recommended but from about 2000mg is a very high dosage and its believed that the negative effects of Vit C are likely to start at this dosage. It is advised to get your Vit C from Fruits and Vegetables where it is unlikely for you to overdose and/or from your Prenatal rather than from supplementation using single Vit C tablets, syrup etc. |
delor:Abeg Guaifebao Mamas should answer nah. Should she continue to use until the tissue like thing stops coming out of her? I believe that's her original question. TIA. |
miraclefromGod:At 61kg and 5ft 5inches, your bmi is 22.4 a very healthy weight. Overweight bmi starts from 25 and you'll need to be about 68.2kg to move into the overweight region. |
ebonychic18:Thanks for coming to her aid. Don't be sorry. The thread is an open one where everyone is free to interact, share knowledge and support one another even if you're not ttc. So feel free to comment where you have good opinion or knowledge on an issue. The only people who are frowned at here are people who do not support the cause of the thread or make inciting troll comments for people to get angry, start e-fights and curses. Good Morning. When I saw BD na Baby Dance come my mind automatic I knew it was wrong sha so I kept quite. The things ttc does to the mind on acronyms. ![]() |
foe123:Ask your Dr or Operator about taking pain relief before. Mamas here years back advised me to take Ibuprofen at least 30mins before the hsg. I did and was fine. Felt mostly discomfort and not pain. Tiny Cramps when the dye passed through both tubes. |
Dazzle86:Sorry you had a bad experience. I did my HSG in a lab in Lagos and I didn't feel pain just discomforting cramps. But Mamas the oldies years back advised me to take pain reliever Ibuprofen at least 30mins before the procedure and that's what I did. I also didn't bleed or spot, I also took pain reliever and I think they also gave me antibiotics for 2-3days and I was fine. I only felt slight pain the next day which Paracetamol took care of. I didn't want to take Ibuprofen again. Mamas going for hsg can ask their Drs and/or the operators about taking pain relievers like Ibuprofen ahead of time even if it's means buying it yourself. I bought mine myself, even the antibiotics too. I was just given a prescription to take to a pharmacy. |
shanicemel:What do you mean by weak? saying weak doesn't say exactly what's wrong with the s.perm. It needs to clearly state the criteria like Motility (Active Forward Movement), Morphology (Well formed and shaped, dead cells etc), Count ( Qty per ml), if there's an infection, colour of sperm, Liquefaction (time before the s.perm goes liquid) etc. Also d conclusions like Oligospermia, Azoospermia etc. That is what is needed to know exactly what to do as per treatment so if you don't mind, share with us fully so that sabi Mamas on what the issue is can advice accordingly. Don't worry God will bless us all, Amen. None shall be barren is his promise, delay is not denial. It's good that you also get all tests done on yourself so you're sure it's only male infertility you're tackling and if there's any issue on your side all will be treated together immediately. Well the Gynae when you visit one will ensure he checks both of you not just one person, that's the way it goes. Also state your state or preferred location axis so that Mamas can also recommend Drs/hospitals. |
miraclefromGod:Lol. it's definitely wrong. Just give me your weight. I'll help you calculate with 5ft 6inches and 5ft 5inches. Am 5ft 7inches weighing 77.6kg and that's a bmi of 26.8 |
miraclefromGod:There's a formula for it but am Maths lazy except when it comes to money (yes am Igbo) What I do is to use bmi calculators found online and in phone app download stores. With the calculators, you just type in your weight and height and it will give you your bmi result. Just try that. |
Icesnow:You see, nothing to worry about just like your Dr said, it's outside the uterus and also small so won't affect anything. What you can do is buy Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar or any Vinegar with the Mother still in it, also buy Unsulphured Black Strap Molasses, mix both in water and drink at least once a day. Also do Castor Oil Pack Therapy. I believe since its on the outside and very small, I believe it will respond to these popular Fibroid shrinking treatment. I think Subserous Fibroids are the ones that shrink and shrink fast. Submucous (inside the womb) is the witch Fibroid. |
missade:Sis just ignore him, that's the best, I've learnt and decided to do so after taking on him severally I believe last week. You know the popular saying, "Silence is the best answer for a f..l" I think that suits him best. He's been advised to go and practice on the Obstetrics/Gynaecology Thread and not here but he still pops in once in a while to make inciting comments hoping for people to take him on and derail the thread/conversation. You need to check some of his posts here to understand what am saying, one was on point while others were very inciting even saying that some women with certain stuff can never conceive. Can't remember how he put it. Just Ignore, don't bother replying him. Have a happy day. |
Ugommazan:It's good that you and your DH are making healthy choices. Am also in the same boat as you, a slightl overweight bmi while I don't even look it. My current bmi is 26.8, Dress size is 10 up and 12 down, am more like a Size 11. Don't sweat it much there are other things that add more to our weights like muscle, bone and water which is good, the bad part is if you have a high body fat percentage. Right now I prefer to go with measurements and my dress size. I think Size 10-12 is the average healthy best for women. Am aiming for a comfortable Size 10. Go light on the exercise please, heavy exercise will increase stress and the release of cortisol in high levels which is bad for the health and ttc. You might not need to necessarily hit the gym. You can take walks, run/walk intermix, at home aerobic exercises too. When I used to be heavy on exercise, I was more comfortable exercising at home than using the gym. So I bought Leslie Sansones Walk at home DVD and also used her several Walk/Aerobic based exercises on You tube. I believe walk and aerobic based exercises are safer for ttc and pregnancy in my opinion. Light weights are also good but has to be light weights like say 2kg on each arm. For your AF, please try the Ginger/Garlic juice, Garlic thins the blood and increases blood flow, increases blood circulation and also reduces Cholesterol and the bad fats in the body. So it could be beneficial for you. @ Pweetymii and @ miraclefromGod can provide you with the recipe. Take care. Avoid Stress including Physical and Psychological stress, stress helps nothing, makes thing bad. |
