Now you are choosing to compare this with those in India? Nigeria's pool of unemployed is nowhere near what is obtained in India. And cost of living is not the same.

Dude, I don't give a fart about what portion of china is developed and what portion is not. We are speaking here of comparing cost of living and minimum wage, not number of SHINY structures there are in one place as against the other. When you were poor, did you care about how developed the state you lived in was or were you more concerned about how to make sure you were able to make ends meet with the little you had available to you and how you could go about improving on that?

The comparisons you are making are flawed considering you have yet to show why someone in Nigeria should look at China, or India's example in this.

hy do you like repeating?. . .We are in the same situation. . .both have large unemployment field. . .both have similar minimum wages. . .That is the example I gave for my reason why the wage is unethical but some what correct. . .Its nothing more. . .You like to analyze everything I say and rephrase the question every time. . . You might have figured that Nigeria cannot afford to pay them more but I don't think the average worker out there who works labouring under the sun to feed his family and self wants to concern himself with that. He sees how the leaders share money the way they want  . . he sees how billions supposed to be spent to improve living for him are wisked away to foreign accounts and pockets of the rich and fat and he wonders why it seems the harder he works, the more expensive life gets for him. He has a right to be frustrated and complain the way he knows how to.

Is the average Chinese more likely to face the same problems the average Nigerian does on a daily basis?

Can you please answer the questions asked? I did not ask you of benefits of minimum wage or low minimum wage. I asked you direct questions about conclusions you made earlier and would appreciate it if you spent time actually answering those please.

you are not answering the question. You suggested they stopped complaining because this minimum wage out to provide for all their needs, yes or no?
. . . We are going off of the meaning you volunteered on the concept of minimum wage here. When it was lower, they complained it was not enough. Granted, it is higher now, but according to many, it is still not enough so the reason why they continue to complain. You however, suggest they STOP complaining because, according to your def. minimum wage ought to be used just for NEEDs and not for Luxuries and I am guessing you believe this minimum wage ought to provide for all their needs. Hence the reason why I ask that you help us understand exactly how that will work.

Who? Are you sure you are speaking to the right person here? You used the UNIVERSAL meaning here and all you are asked to do is provide more details as to how you justify this minimum wage by that.

First you say do not compare this with the US but you now want to compare this with China? And on what basis is this comparison being made? That cost of living in China is about the same as cost of living in Nigeria?

I know it is too easy to take SIDES on a subject without even trying to put oneself in the shoes of those affected. But could you pretend to know what people are complaining about for one second and please help them understand why, according to you, they should not complain anymore . . .

We are not talking abt reclaiming marshland or swampy areas. You are taking on the atlantic ocean. Reclamation may fail. Your artificial coastline may collapse leading to dangerous flooding.

The metropolis may be crowded but there are still large hundreds of km sq of solid land within Lagos state.

It is a major ego trip. Nothing more.If things dont go well there could be colossal loss in life and property of a kind we are too poor, too corrupt, too short-sighted to deal with.

Lagos is not desperately short of land to warrant a project of this kind

Do you know what the word "glorified" means?

What does the word estate mean again? the project is privately funded and controlled. Is that not what an estate means again? An estate can be a city !

As for how expensive properties will be in Lagos, I can only comment on how much land is for sale. It is up to third party entities to purchase land, develop it and charge for their product type.
    We are building the land, the infrastructure, roads, utilities, and selling plots.

True, but you really get a lot of whitewashed stories from many if you are not careful. After a couple of exchanges with the man, I was made to understand a lot about the project itself, and how it is really more a 'glofied' land reclaimation project, and that the business part only happens when people who purchase land decide to build and develop.

The project is not a joke . . . it is actually a glorified private Housing/Business Estate in some way. From what I have been able to gather from the developers themselves, this project should be seen as a GRA without the Government part of it. The Land, after it is developed will be sold off to private people who want to own a piece of the land. Now, these private clients can then decide based on zoned area they purchase, what they will build on said pieces. So, if a person wants to purchase land on there and build nothing but residential homes, that is up to the land owner.

So, forget the romanticized images that you have been offered of this project. It is real but is not necessarily going to end up the way many here believe it is. It is not to be compared to  Dubai, Tokyo, NY etc. It is simply a big Private Housing/Business estate project

At about $800 to $1600 a square foot, I don't think you are far from the truth. But who knows, another private company come come in to reclaim more land lost to the sea and sell theirs for less. ROFLMAO!!
