PoliticsRe: Rivers Monorail Project Gathers Steam - First Tracks Laid. by GAR3TH(m): 12:44am On Nov 26, 2012
As much as I like Amaechi and the work he does, I and many others who are into Urban development can tell you that a Monorail is the worst form of public transit a city can have. Not only is it extremely expensive, but the amount of passengers it carries is very small and limited. And because of that the cost to ride a monorail system is more expensive, meaning many people may not be able to afford it.

Just to clarify the Chart below, A MRT [Mass rapid Transit] are modes of transportation like Subways, above ground rail, commuter rail, etc. What Lagos is building, EKO RAIL, is a MRT system and not a light rail. As you can see there are options, such as a light rail [LRT] and a mass Rapid Transit [MRT], that Port harcourt could have gone with that is cheaper and can move more passengers to their destination. This Monorail is very questionable and I'm very skeptical about its future.

In reality if he wanted they could have gone with an elevated Light Rail [LRT] which will still be cheaper or about the same cost as a monorail but carry alot more passengers.

PoliticsRe: FG To Rebuild Bombed UN Building With N5.2bn by GAR3TH(m): 8:18am On Nov 23, 2012
The UN Building is insured and most of the damages are paid for. So what is the FG doing proposing N5.2 Billion to rebuilding it. Even if the building was not insured N5.2 Billion is even WAAAAAY to much to fix the damaged parts of the UN building. You can pretty much build a new UN Building with that kind of money, talk less of fixing an existing one.
PoliticsRe: What Will Four More Years Of Barack Obama Mean For Africa? by GAR3TH(m): 3:27pm On Nov 12, 2012
4 years of Obama means nothing for Africa. Those who think a president of a different country, 3000 miles away, on a different continent, will help them are delusional. The true question is what will 4 more years of GEJ and other African leader mean for Africa. Its time Africans tasked their leaders and hold them accountable for their actions, Instead of watching them loot from the sidelines.
PoliticsRe: Why US Army Is Recruiting Hausa, Igbo by GAR3TH(m): 10:00am On Nov 03, 2012
Wow the amount of narcissistic people on this site is Unbelievable. The US army is recruiting them so they can be translators. Whether it be a future war theater, a wire tapping operation, investigations etc. Its not because they are "smart" or "warriors" like some Gullible people have said. Its so they have the right people to translate in a giving scenario, that's what all modern military do.
FamilyRe: Woman Gives Birth To Triplets As 12th Delivery by GAR3TH(m): 3:53pm On Oct 29, 2012
What possible reason justifies you having 12 deliveries and possibly 14 children. Dont these people have anything better to do than to fill Nigeria with more impoverish children. As far as I'm concerned these are just selfish parent who only think of them selves and not whats best of their children. Tell me, with what money will she use to take care of all here kids? Even someone who earns 15 million naira a year will have a hard financial time taking care of '14' children, talk-less of a villager.

PoliticsRe: THE Top 10 Countries With The Strongest Army In Africa!! by GAR3TH(m): 8:07pm On Oct 18, 2012
So what about algeria, In reality the list goes...

Modern style military
1. South Africa
2. Egypt
3. Algeria
4. Morocco
8. Tunisia

Not modern
5. Libya
6. Nigeria
7. Kenya
9. Tanzania
10. Ethiopia

Having mass numbers means absolutely nothing if you do not have the modern technology to back it up!!!
A group of 1,000 special trained operatives with modern tech can easily take down 100,000 "african" non modern soldiers
EducationRe: What's The Difference Between A Smart Student And A Brilliant Student by GAR3TH(m):
I personally believe that a smart person is one who is good at making hard, tasking decisions and A brilliant person is one who is very intelligent and has vast amount of knowledge.

Businessmen like billionaire Donald trump are smart but not intelligent ( though they could be).donald trump is Good at making business decisions but give him a complex physics problem and he will crack. On the other hand you have people who are very intelligent but constantly make bad decisions.

So the smart student makes the right decision to study so he can do well in school but the brilliant student actually learns the materials so he personally knows the material. The brilliant student does not care about doing well in school. They care about learning the material. And thus good grades come them naturally

This is just my opinion on what those two words mean, mind you that many people are both.

PoliticsRe: Another Plane Crash Averted As Aero Contractor Plane Engine Packed Up by GAR3TH(m): 4:36am On Oct 09, 2012
The title is misleading because they never took off. Even if they did a plane can still fly with only 1 engine working, so they weren't in any real danger. This type of things happened to me on british airways on a flight from london to New York. 2 of the 4 engines would not start so we had to disembark the plane in and orderly fashion. No body panic nor screamed. Once they fixed the problem we were on our way on the same plane.
PoliticsRe: The Word BIAFRA. And Where It Came From by GAR3TH(m): 12:08am On Oct 08, 2012
the name Biafra comes from the bright of Biafra which was named by the Europeans during their early African expeditions. The Europeans, especially the Portuguese named almost every geographical feature in west africa. It has nothing to do with the Igbo language.

But the word "invent" is wrong, the writer should have said creates or builds indigenous wind....

PoliticsRe: Osun To Create 27 Local Governments - Aregbesola by GAR3TH(m): 4:19pm On Sep 28, 2012
This is just ludicrous. Were will the funds to run and manage these additional 27 LGAs (57 LGAs in total) come from? The current LGAs have no power or enforcement and pretty much do nothing for the people because they are always broke. Adding an additional 27 to that small state is suicide!!!! The LGA that I live in in america is larger in size than Osun state and has a Larger Fiscal budge than the state. Put that in perspective.

FamilyRe: Mother Of 5 Gives Birth To Quadruplets In Ibadan, Husband Flees by GAR3TH(m): 12:55am On Sep 03, 2012
Another welfare driven family created by pure ignorance. In the USA it cost about $200,000 - $250,000 to raise one child from birth to the age of 18. This includes food, clothes, education etc that a child needs through their first 18 years. What makes these people think that they have enough money to raise 5 kids properly, not even 9. Its times like these that I question the sanity of some Nigerians. Who buys something or in this case produce something they cant even afford, why bring so many kids into this world to just suffer from malnutrition and diseases.

seedord247: Since the govt were not to be blamed why does chinese govt authorized one child policy?
How is the government to blame for what someone does in their personal life? that make no sense what so ever. The USA doesn't have a child policy but they have an average of 2.5 children per house hold and many European countries have an average of 2 children per house hold without having a child policy. Its not the governments responsibility, its the people responsibility. But if the people are to stup.id and ignorant to recognize that they are hurting themselves by given birth to too many kids then the government has no choice but to step in, which was the case with china.
PoliticsRe: Governors Will Abuse State Police - Jonathan by GAR3TH(m): 4:05pm On Aug 28, 2012
Well in a sane country a governor or any politician for that matter, can not abuse the police. The police operates independently and are controlled by themselves and there only jobs are to enforce the laws of the state. with that said how can governors abuse state police when the governors are not in command of the police? so the only reason why GEJ is against it is the "what if" factor. You'll never know unless you test it out first.

In the USA they have Federal law Enforcement groups, State police, County (LGA) police, and some Individual town/city police all working in unison. So why cant we have that in Nigeria? Instead of fixing a problem Nigerians always like to avoid it. Grow some balls and become a man!!!
PoliticsRe: Imo Makes Possession Of Igbo Language Compulsory For Admission Into University by GAR3TH(m): 9:20pm On Aug 26, 2012
Good on paper but bad in practice. Any state institution that makes an unofficial language of the nation mandatory in a public institution is just wrong. Its like California saying its mandatory to speak Spanish to get into any California university just because their is a large Spanish population, even though the offical language of the USA is English. What will happen if other state start this, you'll have to speak edo to go to UniBen or Yoruba to go to UniLag evn though the official language of the nation is english? Its just a bad policy to implement because a public institution is meant to serve the entire populace not just a specific group.
PoliticsRe: Salaries Of Niger-delta Militant Warlords Revealed by GAR3TH(m): 12:17pm On Aug 23, 2012
This is the exact reason why you never negotiate with terrorist!!!! The government should have Blitzkrieg them out of the niger delta and then created a security net so that no future oil bunkering occurs. But instead of spending those millions on the Niger delta people who really need it the government spends it on some militants. Just proves that nigeria's federal government is a complete joke.

And to those trying to justify this act I hope you burn in hell. Your government basically screwed you and yet you have the stup!dity to defend them. People like you are what is wrong with Nigeria....how can you justify $22 million dollar yearly salary to one militant warlord...

PoliticsRe: Atlantic Ocean Surge Kills 16 In Lagos (Pictures) by GAR3TH(m): 11:58am On Aug 20, 2012
Excuzeme: Your post is NOT entirely accurate.
You intentionally or "without being aware", forgot to add that "dredging sand from the ocean" (for the purpose of sand-filling) has to occur at a certain MINIMUM DISTANCE FROM THE SHORE-LINE, if the effect of such dredging is not to have a NEGATIVE IMPACT on the shoreline?
I dont want to go into details here (but let me add that the minimum distance is 15 Nautical miles from the shoreline otherwise, the ocean will simply "SUCK" the shore's sand outwards, to replace the "vacuum/void" created by the initial dredging and the beach line could be 'history'!)as l no wan enter "Lagos rofo-rofo fight". wink wink
huh 15 Nautical Miles is way to loose of an estimate, 2 miles offshore from the project site is what I consider the minimum. Also, Dredging will not cause any "vacuum" or even one powerful enough to "suck" the sand from the shoreline. So to say dredging is a cause or that it has a negative impact on the shoreline is wrong. The simple fact of the matter why sand is removed from beaches is due to erosion. The Mass of the ocean coupled with its velocity creates enough momentum to eat away at any exposed shoreline. when completed Eko atlantic project will not only protects Victoria island from erosion but sand fills the shoreline back to its original length during the days of colonialism. That shore line has always been shrinking due to the erosion, so to say dredging is causing it is misleading.

auwal87: The title on sahara reporters read;
"Multi-Billion Dollar "Eko Atlantic City" Project Caused Fatal Atlantic Ocean Surge That Killed 16 People In Lagos"
It is truly irresponsible journalism by Sahara Reporters to blame Eko Atlantic City for the surge. SR did not think this through, I believe they just wrote this headline to gain views. It is mathematically impossible for dredging of the ocean to cause any real displacement in ocean water nor can dredging cause flooding to an ocean coastline that is already exposed to the elements. To add on, Surges have been happening for decades, Even before Eko Atlantic started. If you all remember, every time there was a storm the ocean will surge and flood pass ahmadu bello way. The entire road was 2-3 feet below water!!!
