7Ebisco: A state governor on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Thursday night, expressed sadness over the defection of former Kano governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The governor made his feelings known in an exclusive chat with DAILY POST.
Our correspondent had reached him to comment on the mass defection that hit the ruling party this week.
Reacting, the governor who spoke under anonymity, said the APC was still formidable and that recent developments would push the party to work harder ahead of the 2019 general election.
“What has happened is not what we wished but now we have to re-strategize. God knows best”, he said.
“But I can confidently tell you that our major loss to the PDP is Senator Kwankwaso.
“Those are well-informed would understand what I’m saying. As of today, the former Governor is arguably the strongest force in the North West.
“He is my friend and the truth is we are not happy he left but we have to look ahead and face the reality.
“Having said that, the APC remains strong. My appeal is that we all work for the peace, unity and progress of Nigeria.”
Kwankwaso, who represents Kano Central Senatorial District, was one of the Senators who dumped the APC for the PDP on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the lawmaker and another former Kano governor Ibrahim Shekarau have reached a pact ahead of next year polls.
DAILY POST understands that the two prominent figures deliberated a few times in recent months on modalities of working together.
Top on their agenda is taking over the Government House from incumbent governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
Ganduje was Kwankwaso’s deputy for eight years (1999-2003 and 2011 to 2015) but the two fell apart shortly after the 2015 election.

kahal29: The former governor of Benue State, Dr Gabriel Suswam, has finally sealed a defection deal with Senator George Akume to dump his party, the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) for governor Samuel Ortom and senator Barnabas Gemade ahead of 2019 general elections.
LEADERSHIP observed that majority of Suswam’s loyalists who are vying for elective positions in 2019 under the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) have started removing the PDP’s logo on their posters, especially online, signaling their take-off from Egypt to the promise land.
Our correspondent authoritatively gathered that Makurdi, the Benue state capital was locked down on Sunday night by Akume/Suswam versus Ortom/Gemade camps to perfect final decamping arrangements.
A source who attended Suswam’s all night meeting which ended by 5am Monday explained that despite the begging from Ortom/Gemade’s camp for Suswam to remain in PDP, the duo prefer to join (APC) another available vehicle with his teeming supporters, saying those who want to join PDP have bypassed the opposition stakeholders in the state who have suffered to build the party in the last three years.
Another PDP source buttressed further why they cannot work with Ortom in the party ,adding that the non payment of salaries by the present administration will affect the party’s chances of clinching the governorship in 2019 as majority of workers and pensioners will work against them.
One of the close allies of the former governor, said Suswam had already briefed PDP state and local government executives of his pending decamping to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC),adding that they cannot work together with Governor Ortom:” We cannot work for the re-election of Governor Ortom and we have decided to leave the party as the governor is joining the party. We don’t think Benue workers will support PDP with Ortom as a candidate. We weighed all options and decided with our leader, former Governor Gabriel Suswam to join APC and work together with Akume.Governor Ortom/Gemade camp begged Suswam not to defect to APC but he refused “.
The ongoing political realignments in Benue state has left some aspirants stranded as many are contemplating which side to go.
According to sources, former governor Suswam has been given APC automatic ticket for Benue zone A senatorial seat, while Senator Gemade who is seeking for third term was given PDP automatic ticket to vie for Benue zone A senatorial seat.
Benue State governor, Ortom, may decamp from his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) today with his teeming supporters.
Recall that governor Ortom had claimed that the state APC leader, Sen.George Akume, gave him red card ahead of the 2019 guber primaries.
Although, the APC national chairman,Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, intervened but the governor had already made up his mind to dump his party for an automatic governorship ticket in PDP.
PDP had in a statement issued by its National Secretary,Sen.Umaru Ibrahim Tsauri, called for an emergency meeting which it was learnt was to deliberate on defection of APC bigwigs into its fold among other issues.
https://leadership.ng/2018/07/24/ex-benue-gov-suswam-set-to-join-apc/ LET HIM GO, A SITTING GOVERNOR THAT CAN NOT WIN AN ELECTION OF WHAT USE WILL HE BE NOW THAT IS OUT OF OFFICE, MAYBE HE CAN CONVINCE THOSE IN EFCC CELL TO VOTE FOR APC.. HE IS VERY FREE TO GO TO APC, NOBODY IS STOPPING HIM. |

engineerboat: INEC, tribunal frustrating my petitions –Olusola
_Kamarudeen Ogundele, Ado Ekiti_
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti State, Prof Kolapo Olusola, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of frustrating his efforts to duly file a petition at the election petitions tribunal.
Olusola is challenging the victory of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Kayode Fayemi, as declared by the INEC.
He alleged that his applications to INEC for the certified true copies of election documents and a motion ex parte made to the tribunal were rebuffed despite having fulfilled necessary steps.
Olusola raised the alarm that the delay from INEC and the tribunal were plans to allow time to run against him in instituting the legal action within the 21 days.
He urged the election petitions tribunal to expedite action on his two applications and allow the law to take its course.
“We applied for certified true copies of election documents to assist in the preparation and presentation of my petition.
“The application was filed on July 16 to the Ekiti State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof Abdulganiyu Raji, and upon approval of the application, we made payment on July 20. Till now, no document has been made available to us by INEC.
“We equally made an application for certified true copies of the document to the INEC Chairman, Abuja, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu, on July 17, and upon approval, payment was made on July 18.”
Olusola added that no document had been made available to him despite repeated visits to INEC offices in Ekiti and Abuja.
“I, therefore, make a passionate appeal to INEC not to frustrate me further as the damage it has done to me is enough.
“The action of INEC is showing that they are out to frustrate me so that time will completely run out against me in line with the expectation of their task masters.”
The Public Relations Officer of INEC in Ekiti, Alhaji Taiwo Gbadegesin, did not answer calls to his phone.
He had also yet to reply a text message sent to him by our correspondent as of 7:22 pm.

From Lailasnews.com:
A Nigerian student at the Georgia Southern University ‘accidentally’ received a racist text message from her new college roommate, Courtney Schaefer.
According to reports online, Nwamaka had been paired with Schaefer for the next semester so she decided to reach out and send her new roomie a friendly hello text message. Only for things to go left.
After Nwamaka’s innocent, introductory text message, Schaefer exchanged pleasantries with her soon-to-be roommate and shared a laugh over accidentally calling one another.
Then the unexpected happened.
Another message popped up on Nwamaka’s phone stating “her insta looks pretty normal not too niggerish.”
Realizing she had sent her message to the wrong person, Schaefer immediately apologized to Nwamaka, claiming that her phone auto-corrected the word “triggerish” to the racial slur. “OMG I am so sorry! Holy crap. Damn spell check I did NOT mean to say that,” she wrote back hastily.
“I was texting Hannah and I meant to say triggerish meaning like you seemed really cool nothing that triggered a red flag! I’m so embarrassed I apologize!”
The screenshots sparked outrage nationwide. Thousands of users flooded Twitter, demanding Georgia Southern University to take action against Schaefer and either suspend or expel her from campus. Many called for her removal from the swim team as well.

Upritman: @SuanusBlog
National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole has visited the former Governor of Kano State, Engr.Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Oshiomhole was accompanied by three APC Governors of Kebbi, Jigawa and Zamfara States.
The visit Friday night, Suanu's Blog gathered was aimed at pleading with Kwankwaso who is currently a Senator against dumping the party for the PDP.
Kwankwaso is believed to be nursing a presidential ambition in 2019 and is seriously been wooed by the PDP. Suanu's Blog recalls that Senator Kwankwaso had contested the presidential primary election of the APP in 2014 and had the second highest votes after Mr.Buhari who won the contest.
It is unclear if Senator Kwankwaso will give up on his presidential ambition and remain in the APC to support the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.
It may interest you to know that Senator Kwankwaso has been having a long political battle with his former deputy now governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Suanu's Blog recalls that Oshiomhole had earlier met with Gov.Ortom of Benue State against defecting to PDP. However, after accepting to remain in the APC, Gov.Ortom appears to have changed his mind as he reiterated his resolve to dump the party on Friday.

Politics › Re: Buhari, APC, Governors Woo Saraki With Juicy Offers - The Nation by gare(f): 5:11am On Jul 21, 2018*. Modified: 8:22am On Jul 21, 2018 |
sarrki: There were strong indications that President Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress and governors are considering juicy offers for the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, to prevent his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
It was learnt that some prominent leaders of the party, especially the coordinator of the reconciliation initiative, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, might be involved in the negotiation with Saraki.
Tinubu was said to have been briefed about the President’s interaction with Saraki and others.
But Saraki, who bowed well for the President after a meeting at the Presidential Villa, was frank in expressing his mind.
He said he felt humiliated by the party he co-founded and the government he jointly put in place with others.
He was solemn in expressing his disappointment to the President and some APC governors.
Investigation conducted by our correspondent revealed that the President and some APC governors met with the Senate President as a follow-up to the talks with New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) caucus of APC being coordinated in the past few months by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
It was gathered that most APC leaders, governors and other members were unhappy that the party was on the verge of losing Saraki to PDP.
They believed that the defection of such a “political heavyweight” to the opposition might affect cohesion in APC for the 2019 poll.
The consequences of a depleted APC impelled some governors and party leaders to broker understanding between the President and Saraki.
A source, who spoke in confidence, said: “At least, for the first time, there was a frank session between the President and Saraki.
“He expressed disappointment with his humiliation by the government he fought hard to put in place.
“We were all sober while he relived his travails, because none of us would pray to be in such a situation.
“We understood with him but we felt it was time to forgive and forget in order to move forward.
“As part of preventing Saraki’s defection, we may offer him juicy terms including:
.Automatic return as the President of the Senate in 2019
.More consultation and inclusiveness in key decisions henceforth
.Mutual Executive-Legislature relationship
.Revisiting all issues raised by nPDP Caucus which formed the basis of talks in the past few months
.Reconciling with all aggrieved leaders of nPDP
.Avoiding a repeat of past mistakes which led to his humiliation
“We also appeal to Saraki to shelve moves to defect to PDP or any other party. We agreed that he has a better stake in APC than any other party.”
Asked if Saraki made any commitment, the source added: “There was none yet, but the atmosphere was cordial and hopeful.
“After the meeting, he even bowed well to the President.
“The session was the climax of talks in the past few months. As one of our leaders, we leave the final decision to Saraki to take.
“But one thing was clear from Saraki: he will want all commitments put into writing and documented in case of any breach in the future.
“To some of us who have been wooing him, such a demand is in order. It is a case of once bitten, twice shy.”
Responding to a question, the source said: “The final stage of talks with Saraki will still involve some of our leaders, like Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who is coordinating the reconciliation in the party.
“In fact, Tinubu has been briefed on the outcome of the meeting at the Villa and why he has to play a key role too.”
Some of the major complaints on nPDP are:
Grudges on the conduct of state congresses Alleged refusal of the party leadership to stamp its feet on parallel congresses in some states In the constitution of the Federal Executive Council, (FEC) the New PDP block was generally sidelined as virtually no position was conceded to it. The only member of FEC that belonged to former New PDP block comes from a state that contributed virtually no vote to the APC in the 2015 presidential election.
There has been no significant patronage and appointments to executive positions in various government agencies such as Chief Executives and Executive Directors of government agencies and parastatals as members of our block of the party continue to helplessly watch as these positions are shared by the erstwhile CPC, ACN, ANPP and even APGA blocks of the party and those who have no party at all.
In appointments into boards of various government agencies, very few former New PDP members were patronised. These are, however, not commensurate with our contributions to the growth and victory of the party.
When members of the former New PDP block showed interest in running for the offices of President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives, they were subjected to a vicious and relentless political opposition as if they were not legitimate members of the APC family. During the party primaries preparatory to the 2015 general elections, most of the promises made to sitting members of the National Assembly, who belonged to the former new PDP in terms of a level playing field were reneged upon or observed more in breach.
There has been general lack of consultation, non-recognition and even persecution of former New PDP members and leaders by the party and government. For example, some of our leaders are denied the security cover necessary to visit their constituencies even though they are elected representatives of the people in a government they sacrificed so much for.
Harassment, intimidation and persecution of former New PDP leaders by the government is still an ongoing affair. We do not want to overstate the obvious by cataloguing names of former new PDP stalwarts that are targets of this political pogrom.
http://thenationonlineng.net/buhari-apc-govs-woo-saraki-with-juicy-offers/ Saraki learn from Atiku, if you go back they will frustrate you and make life miserable for you, since your mind is made up to move , you better do, because they will never keep to the agreement whether written or verbal. "Dee" comes from a very well to do family while i dont so when we got married, i made her feel we are in this together, not one above the other but as partners in EVERYTHING. To be fair to her she brought up the business idea we did years ago, in other to put forth money to start up, i made sure i had equal money as her for it, goal was to own a property, build et al. Unfortunately my dad's ailing health deteriorated to the extent that he had to be flown out, when the profit came, i told her and she agreed, she decided we split it into two so she use hers for the initial plan. As the first born i went with my dad, back here she got the property and started building, when i came back the remaining money with me was used to complete it, what was left was used for my parents house. Being a trust worthy person i feel she is, i didnt bother to check documents cos i felt she would do the right thing by putting both our names which she kept in a bank.
Now, i work and own other businesses so i'm always in contact with alot of people from both genders so to her she feels i may have lost guard by cheating which is not true: i dont have password on my phones, i always make and receive calls right in front of her but she still think i'm hiding something and that was the genesis of the problem weeks ago, i rebuked her to cut it out immediately but she was out for blood, she insulted me like never before, when i didnt give her face, she extended her TOXIC words to my parents, my family, my background and my personality, that was when i lost it, if not for my cousin that was there i would have hit her, out of anger i told her to get the hell out of the house which of course i didnt mean, then she shocked me saying the house is ONLY in her name, i was numb and speechless, in other for me not to react in a brutal way i left the house, told her i would never step there again if she doesnt change it to my name ONLY. My cousin who was there when it happened told my people, they called me so i had to explain things, right now her family knows what happened and none is supporting her.
YES i said she should put my name only cos she belittled and betrayed me which tells me if it was in both our names she will raise shoulder and feel above me.YES i requested for transfer and i will go through with it, i cannot be away from my kids and still be in the same state, it doesnt make, when it is sucessful, i will get a place conducive amd comfortable for my kids, they will be with me. I told her recently not to bother with the name change anymore, she can have the house all to herself for all i care.
I wont divorce her because i dont believe in that, once i move with the kids she can come along if she wants but right now we are seperated. I wanted a partner, she displayed stupidity not smartness, what the future holds i dont know, she made her bed she should lay on it. It really surprises me that you two can't sit together and resolve your differences, now you have joined your wife to wash your dirty clothes in the public. Why are you the man, first asking for your name alone to be on the paper of house is very wicked of you, I would expect you to ask for your name to be included in the papers. Go back to your wife sit her down and sort issues out with her, and stop dragging your family issues before your parents your wife inclusive. I don't see her like someone that will not reason with you. Since you have a plan for a new place do that and move your family their. Please go to your wife and and sort things out your children needs you and also your wife. And forget that response of your wife cheating as long as she has not given you any reason to doubt her, try and reassure her that it just her and her alone, don't allow this children in this forum sow a seed in you that will destroy your family. The house is not worth the future of your children |
