My guy you are very uninformed. First of all, I've been here for more than 16 years.

Second of all, most people in the US see Nigerians as very smart, hardworking, intelligent, and rich. You know why? They tell me that
their nurse is Nigerian, their Doctor is Nigerian, their teacher in the University is Nigerian, the smartest person in their class in University was a Nigerian, and the list goes on. Whenever I go to a hospital, I look at the wall and see a bunch of Nigerian Doctors and Nurses listed there.

Most blacks in top Universities here are Nigerians or Nigerian descent. One of the most successful ethnic groups in America are Nigerians.

I get more opportunities in the States because of my Nigerian background. Even Black Americans complain that the white men treat us better. And I've had conversations with some whites that prefer Africans, because we are more focused and easier to get along with. But I always make sure to point out that the Black Americans have a good reason to be pissed, though they need to do a better job at channeling that anger to get a better result.

Please guys, try not to lecture someone who lives in a country, based on what you hear online. You dey talk like say I just left Nigeria yesterday. If you read my thread, then you should know that I left Nigeria at age 18, and I'm 46 now. Experience ti pko ju! grin

And by the way, I'm from Abia State, but grew up in Lagos.

I was almost tempted to respond to him. You were missed on Sunday at the soccer field.

As popular as Iya Egin was, I never ate there. If I had to eat out, I will either eat at A2 or A4 at new buka or at wrist, eat risky burger.

What year did you leave Ife? I still don't know why they forced/ moved everyone to New Buka? They destroyed Sports market too and I'm guessing they might have done the same for Anglo-Moz market too.

In essence, Tinubu not been Buhari's vice isn't his wishes as many proclaimed. It was purely Buhari's choice to have a Christian voice. Tinubu seems more desperate than any other candidate.

Ok sir.
Is it true that using it for simple payments like utilities increases the score faster rather than buying things like gadgets.
Not sure if one holds more weight however, in my opinion, it shouldn't matter. I would be more concerned about utilization rates, repayment history, a d revolving balances.

Oga mi sir.

Please, enlighten me on how a new immigrant in the US can build credit score.
Thanks
Start with the basic one like discover and be consistent in paying. Once you start working, you will be surprised how your credit will grow
Try ensure that at all times, you are below 20% utilization rate and as your limit increases, bring your utilization down to below 10%.

Any small opportunity to bring marriage into an argument, typical Nigerian mentality, first of, I am not married, do I plan on getting married?? Yes someday? Do I see it as part of my life goals ? Certainly No. If I don’t ever get married , will I still make an impact in the world. Definitely! So please , keep your low blow argument to yourself.
I'm guessing you quoted me wrongly.

Oga. Differentiate between rejecting an offer and accepting an offer you hate

Also. At her age, she should have a home. A decent one to work from.

Stay on this ponits.
She is a chef and the nature of her job might not allow her work from home. That said, you are digressing from the point of discussion.

Oga. Stop the deflection. Why couldn't she work from.home. Is a company supposed to house a worker in the first place?

You're slow
You are the slow one here. You initially felt you could muscle up everyone with your point which indicated that you don't treat your staff any better.

If the job doesn't allow her work from home, she xant work from home. Still wondering why you are asking this question if you truly are not trying to deflect from the topic.

So the same toilet she is sharing with other 6 staff is not decent? If jobs are readily available why is she crying on Linkedin and across social media for something that happened in June? Just move on to another simple.
That she chose to speak out isn't a crime. Besides, others might have been comfortable with the living conditions.

Put the spot light on yourself. You're the one with the loud mouth. Have you ever learnt what entry level in life is ?

If you were forthright you would have supported the idea of the employee working from home

Let's see if transportation cost of 120k per month and an apartment of 300k per month on the island totalling 420k per month can be managed with her finances

You people type fast without thinking deep

I will train my kids thru this toughness. Oga. If you want the glory, you must go thru the process.
Oga, I have tasted both sides of life and training kids through toughness doesn't mean they shouldn't know their right. Please, stop equating suffering with training kids to be content.

And how did you know the employment contracts based on listening to only the side of the lady's story??

Did you read the employment contracts for you to be able to know the terms and conditions that was given to her??

There are three sides to the story..

Her own side

The company side..

And the truth..
Which truth are we referring to here? The discussion here relates to the state of the accommodation.

Every time you type, I just cant help but ask myself if you even went to school, talk more of having all those degrees you once bragged about here.
The company stated they were offering an accommodation, did they state that they were offering a luxurious accommodation??
It isn't their fault that the employee had high expectations of a paradise in her head!
I mean, what does it take to clean up the place to reasonable standard, especially when its most likely the outgoing staff that even messed it up? Its not like she's doing any renovations or anything and it says a lot that the place even still looks decent after her obvious concerted efforts to make it look bad...
and yes, when a company in Nigeria offers you free accommodation, they're doing you a favor.

stop supporting thrash all in the name of forming woke.
you're embarrassing your last name.
Oga, you are the one embarrassing yourself here thinking you spoke wisely. If a company is offering an accommodation, it should at least be decent without one having to spend money fixing it. It is their accommodation and not hers.

Sir, nobody is making excuses for the company. Nigeria is not a perfect system and unemployment is still 33.33%. You will never get a perfect company or organisation in an economy with Nigeria's metrics (borrowing cost of 14% and inflation rate at 18.6%.).

She needed the place painted and a few other things fixed. Meaning, the place is not entirely bad as other 6 staff are living in the same staff quarters before her arrival. She could improvise or approach it differently. Lets be realistic, that company has a choice. Unemployment is 33.33%.

She seems to be at war with the company. She is on LinkedIn begging people to help her make the post go viral. Causing all kinds of problems within a month of employment. Do you think people will want her drama going forward?

She can't manage crisis and not a team person. She is demarketing herself.
To start with, unemployment at 33.33%, she got a job and so are many others which means one can still get a job.

If the employer can't provide a conducive/decent accommodation, don't include that in there terms of contract. Let her decide if she's okay with the job at the pay the company is offering.

I own my company. I've never worked for anyone before. But I know how to not get unecessarily puffed up.
If you own your company then I put it to you yrhat you don't treat your staff right otherwise, you wouldn't have been ranting the way you did over her comment.

You know the accommodation isn't decent enough as you admitted she could Behind it up. Why would an employer prefer an employee using her paid salary to improve his property?

Who is holding her? so 27 means she is getting old? l am writing this from a more point of concern than what l stand to benefit,, she had exes before we met, if marriage is that easy why didn't any of them take the step? things can work out even in less than a year and l will do the needful,, telling her she can go is a clear sign l wasn't even in love at the first place,, so if she love me she will wait,, if she want to continue gambling l wish her well,,
You are beginning to sound like she's got no choice out there and you are only doing her a favor. You have stated your points, you don't have to respond to all comments.

That said, if on the converse, you are not where you project yourselves to be in 4 years time, what happens?

If she zips up until 4 years from now, will you remain faithful and committed to her?

I wish you both the very best in your decisions.

Eyes and minds focused on problems.

I'm 1000% certain that if handed same apartment, I'll get hypo and jik, have the toilet washed and throughly revamped.

I'd get floor cleaning fluid and clean the floors. When dried, I'll get a rug.

I'll fix the bunk, and get a foam. And focus on my job

They say 90% of graduates are unemployeable because they can't think and make decisions. This is a classic example. And you're one yourself. Let her go home and go and continue to sleep. Serious candidates will take the offer
That isn't part of the condition and the company isn't doing her a favor. If you say the job comes with an accommodation, the accommodation should be decent and conducive enough for living. She shouldn't be fixing their property. People should watch out for such greedy employers as they can never do any better.
