You can see that no matter how terrible those Ibadan houses look, they are appartment-styled houses which were laid with a foundation n design. There are just very old houses.
Kenyan slums were built to be slums from the onset.
Most of Kenyan slums r built with iron roofing sheet, metal scraps, no design, no plan, no foundation, no nothing.

Holly! Can u compare those Ibadan poor n ugliest areas with these pictures of Mathare below?

Can you see some well paved roads n levels of sanitation? Can you compare these places with Kibera or Mathare?
Most of the houses here have septic tanks n access to other toilet facilities, drainages, motorable roads, boreholes e.t.c.
This is why they can never be classified as slums

Holly I never said those old Ibadan n Abeokuta houses have 100% sanitation n paved roads. Some parts have n some parts do not. This is why you cannot classify the whole place as a slum. You get?

Those ugly houses in Ibadan, Abeokuta and around Lagos are slums. You'll need to revisit your definition of slum. Btw I recently bought a small plot in Nairobi and I'm planning to put up a beautiful slum like this wooden house in Nairobi.

My LGA of origin shares bounadary with Igala communities, i have been to many Igala communities too especially in southern igala local govnmt areas like Ibaji, Olamaboro, Igalamela e.t.c, (my father has many Igala relatives) the population is overwhemingly christian, like 90% christians.

Holly, Ignorance is the only thing that will make you generalize Ibadan or Abeokuta as slums. Both cities just have a lot of old houses. Most of those houses are made of concrete blocks, their walls plastered n are not like the kenyan slums which i see made of wood, mud, plastics or zincs. Most of those Ibadan/Abeokuta houses are on street lanes with motorable roads n have some levels of sanitation n toilet facilities, untypical of the kenyan slums i see.

I've looked at the advantages, it honestly doesn't impress me one bit. Why can they just turn Abuja into the smart city. Abuja CBD is not even yet completed and they are thinking of building another one. They can pretty much implement all that effort into Abuja. If the government have that much money to spend, isn't it more viable to invest that money into things that the whole nation can benefit from like education, health, and manufacturing. The smart city aspect can be well adapted to Abuja as it is, not build another artificial city. There are a lot of already existing cities who are taking the smart city approach: Amsterdam, San Francisco, and Stockholm are just a few examples.

Holly, Building Centenary city does not stop the Nigerian fed govt from continuing to develop other parts of Abuja, does it?~~~~Simultaneous development is the best! Infact, i wish another of it's kinds of similar developmental project be added to Abuja.
