Dont hate ur Nigerian people.
The Naira devaluation caused a lot of issues.
People (mostly 2 years program) planned their expenses at 560. Even large percentage of September intake got their admission, CAS before naira devaluation But now exchange rate is 1900.

Even me self I say kpatakpata if I no fit push am I go sell my land clear fee. But by the time I sold the land 6 million last year December, changed the money I got less than 3500 pounds on a normal exchange rate May I fit get 10k pounds. This was land I placed on sell May

Everyone has a peculiar story that unless u put ur leg in such shoes u won't really understand.
Sorry about your case, but the next time Nigerians want to study abroad as it has been within the past four years, they should convert every naira they have to dollars at the prevailing rate. This optimistic attitude of saving in naira while hoping the value remains static is foolhardy. Except for the recent defence of the naira, the naira has never appreciated against the dollar. That is an undeniable fact. So, why save in naira hoping to use it to offset expenses in pounds? You save everything in dollars immediately you have a naira equivalent of say $1000.

I told my parents to convert when the naira was 360 to the dollar. So, even if the naira had exploded to 5000, that is not my business. I already converted it to dollars when it was 360. That becomes my expenses and tuition fees. An alternative is saving in USDT, which Tensa20 did. Again, nothing bothered him with whatever CBN and Tinubu did.

Nigerians should stop being too optimistic. Always expect the worst to happen, and prepare for it.

So the English language is how they want to measure people’s level of intelligence. After studying in English and passing a course taught in English, migrants now have to go through another level of scrutiny. Bruuhhh make them cancel the visa make we rest.
Nigerians should be happy with this new development as we have better English pedagogy than India and Pakistan. Na Chinese I pity, but I doubt they are interested in working in the UK.

If you like, keep calling someone that save upto $2k monthly a slave. I don't need to argue with because I was once like you who believe in such crap. Ask someone who went their on legit visa, expecially a responsible single person and ask him how much he was able to save monthly. 90% of those building structures or buying properties in Nigeria this days are abroad base guys.
That is true.

Don't know much about UK but you see US, Australia and Switzerland, I can authoritatively tell you that guys are saving double of your MD salary per month in Nigeria. Even the poor UK we are talking about, people are still making cool money better than when they were in Nigeria. The reality is that, Nigerians will never tell you how much they make or save, except you are so dear to them or very rich at home yourself.
They are saving more than a MD's Nigerian salary, but they are spending dollars, aka minimum wage dollars, in the US, not in Nigeria. Again, it is a lopsided way to assess things. If you say those on MW in the US outearn MDs in Nigeria, what about Nigerians in Nigeria who earn dollars? They effectively outearn those in the US. But again, it would be a lopsided way to compare both groups.
TravelRe: Man Want To Relocate Back To Nigeria From Usa Do U Think He Made Right Decision by Gerrard59(m): 2:18am On May 24, 2024
yemmit90:
That is not true my friend, an average legit immigrant on minimum wage abroad is 1000% better than legit MD in Nigeria. Majority of our people are suffering because of illegal ways they took to get there.
Gerrard59:
Special thanks to Treadway!

I hold nothing against OP's thread or his relocation. His choice, which I respect. However, I refuse to hold the notion that a toilet cleaner in Australia lives a better life than a permanent staff banker in Nigeria. The other day, Nairalanders argued that being a skyscraper cleaner in the UK is better than a bank manager in Nigeria. That is totally nonsensical! I don't look at earnings conversion as they are pointless, but professions and standard of living.

Anyone can decide to move from being a doctor to cleaner in the abroad, no problem. But don't come online to state that someone flourishing in his/her career in Nigeria is worse than the cleaner in the abroad. It does not follow. As I argue, you compare oranges to oranges, not oranges to apples. Compare the cleaner in the abroad to a cleaner in Nigeria, NOT a cleaner in the abroad to a career professional in Nigeria. A truck pusher in Nigeria who moves to become a cleaner in the abroad has won the lottery and improved. However, a seasoned professional who does the same has not done well.

We have to be honest in what we say.
Let's fear God in our utterances. A Nigerian immigrant on minimum wage in the US IS NOT BETTER than a say bank MD in Nigeria. In the first place, that is a lopsided comparison aka apples to oranges. It should be the Nigerian in the US who is on MW vs his/her counterpart in Nigeria who is on a meagre income since currency valuations affect everything else.

But Nigerian on MW in the US better than a MD in Nigeria? NEVER!

I'm actually surprised that you didn't know Tunde had dated before oh.

He dated that Igbo travel blogger babe, Alma Asinobi. They looked good together sha, were always traveling to countries together, he'd play the piano for her and she'd sing. I heard they broke up. I don't know what went wrong.

When he won this Guinness World Record, some of his fans went to her page to troll her that she didn't congratulate him on his victory.
Nigerians and amebo, but I'm glad she ignored all those nasty comments.

Oh well. Everybody with their own oh. Same way some ladies throw themselves at him is also the same way some guys will even sniff the pants of Ayra Starr if they have the chance.
Probably because their schedules and plans did not align well. Alma wants to be in the West (Canada specifically) and possibly secure a strong passport. Mr Tunde wants to help the downtrodden with Chess. The relationship was nice (as presented) while it lasted. Also, Alma likes travelling. She probably gets inspiration from Jessica Uufoma (apologies for the spelling).

But I am surprised Prosperina is stunned that ladies are drooling over a high-value man. When certain male activists write these things and use that term, certain people will scream miss ogini. Tunde just like Hilda Baci are young and influential folks in their primes. They would get admirers any day, any time.

Planes will still be safer.
Connecting continents is pretty possible (Europe and Asia), Europe and Africa (doubt Europeans go gree tho). As for accidents, the Japanese have run the Shinkansen for more than sixty years without an accident. The Chinese have done theirs, and there has not been any major incident. Considering China is bigger in land mass and such trips cover long distances, nice achievement. Japan is very mountainous, so another laudable feat.

RomanceRe: "World's Best Divorce Lawyer" Shares The Roots Of All Marriage Problems by Gerrard59(m): 8:33am On May 22, 2024
He continued: “I see a tremendous number of divorces when husband and wife are both working and the husband loses his job… it sends them spiralling into a depression.

"They’ve lost this job and it’s of how they define themselves in the traditional masculine gender role – a provider and a protector.”

James continued: “I’ve seen a lot of women that when their spouse loses the job and they become the breadwinner, they find that very unappealing.” While women are happy with a husband who is a breadwinner, or even an economic equal, James believes the idea of looking after a man financially is very “uncomfortable” for a lot of wives. He added: “I would love it if they kept statistics on these kinds of things but I can tell you in my practice I've seen plenty of women lose their jobs, and it has no impact on the marriage. When men lose their job in a heterosexual male-female marriage it has disastrous consequences a great deal of the time.
I have seen men who were praised and adored when they had money, but as the money finished due to poor planning, sudden retirement, posting and bad economy, the same men were disregarded and discarded. I have seen how my female classmates looked down on us their male counterparts who obviously did not have money, but rather aimed at those who were in higher levels.

I don see things, na why I dey fear poverty. When a man lacks money, he is largely useless to the society. Make nobody just bring that marriage talk come my side.

It is not all about our leaders but entire black race. An average black man is highly selfish, egocentric and lacks virtues. He is narrow minded human with uncontrollable huge to dominate and enslave his brothers. He always want to be worshiped, and subject his brothers to perpetual fear and poverty. Having possessed this innate unwarranted selfish desire, the only way he can achieve this is to take what belong to his brothers and compel them to beg for crumbs.

This analogy could look simple but very powerful. Nigeria or Africa will never get better with the mentality of her inhabitants.
In this particular case, black South African politicians' children study in South Africa. The rest of your post is on point anyway.

I can speak for STEM, don't know about others. But coming here has made me further respect a PhD holder in a scientific and engineering field from a university, especially an elite one, in the developed world. I used to think PhD was just lab work and reporting, but it entails a lot - proper painstaking research, accurate reportage of data, conference attendance, thesis writing, paper writing and submission, accurate use of equipment etc.

PhD no easy o.

I don't really think it's a good idea to setup tall buildings in Nigeria.
I get the idea that
1. it saves ground area.
2. It's some sort of prestige bullshit.
-
But this building needs to transport both people and water to the top floors
And so far, the way to do this is with electricity.
Electric motors running the lift.
Electric motors running the water pumps.
In this country, Nigeria, infamous for No electricity, you've just setup yourself to be screwed big time.
The buildings will be so expensive to run.
Our office is in a tall building, many other offices have vacated the building. We too would soon be leaving.
Expenses for nothing.
To a great extent, you are right. Needed structural infrastructure is required to enable the effectiveness of skyscrapers. Nigeria's poor economic growth has resulted in fewer firms, anaemic wealth creation and growth of poor people. The country needs a GDP growth rate of at least 10% for ten consecutive years to ensure wealth is generated. Through that, businesses and individuals can afford skyscrapers. But for a country to maintain GDP growth rate of 10%, constant electricity supply is mandatory.

As it is, logically based on land mass and economics, Lagos is the only place where a super-tall building makes sense. Anywhere else is a misnomer.

Good to see someone who shares my thought on vasectomy. I am curious, are you married? Got the desired number of children? Underwent vasectomy?

Most Nigerian men do not actually want many kids,na the women dey always want more kids when in essence it is waste of time and resources
While that is true, their opposition to vasectomy makes it untrue. If a man is vehemently against having more children than he can cater for, he should support vasectomy. Alas! Nigerian men, just like most Nigerians anyway, don't practice what they preach.

About biz, I will advise him to get chartered accountants who are into enterprise valuation to value is company and get him like 2 buyers to acquire 45% stake in his biz and setup a good management to oversee the daily running of his biz while he can take a back seat and other stakeholders contribute in monitoring the board of directors and management.
Another option is to get a good manager tht can run the biz and give him a 25% stake in the biz.
That way, the person won't see himself like an employee rather a part of the company.
That is the best. Outside CEOs should have stakes in the business so they take it like theirs. Profit sharing etc. Deploy forensic accountants every quarter. As for those countries, shey he wants to live in a safe place where he can drive nice cars? Or maybe it is my ignorance about his need for japa is the reason I mentioned those countries. Seatrade would have to explain his need/reasons to japa before the names of countries are mentioned. As it is, apart from the US, I no see why I go comot from where I dey. ng, I will say it is a very hard decision.
Since you have a successful biz here, I will advise you stay while you plan how your wife and kids will be staying abroad while you go to see them regularly or you just buy a better passport and stay here with them but can easily be entering western countries easily.
Don't ever expose the secret of your biz to another person else they will float theirs later after gathering the necessary experience while your biz goes down.
It's hard running a biz in absentia or remotely Andi believe you don't want to relocate and start doing shitty jobs to survive when you are a king here.
It is better to be a dog in the city than a dead lion in the bush
If Seatrade is as rich as he is or claims to be, the bold cannot be possible. Besides, relocation must not be in the Western world. With money, Nambia and Ghana are attainable.

As for having someone manage the business, how do owners of enterprises in Nigeria where there are Chinese and Indian CEOs cope? Would Seatrade remain in the position forever? Who would generate newer and innovative ideas? Can the businesses not operate without his physical presence?
