RomanceRe: A Hook-Up Girl's Earnings And Expenses (Pictured) by Gerrard59(op): 9:21am On Apr 17, 2024
My feeding expenses are high because my siblings moved in with me in 2022, and they’re teenagers who eat a lot. I’m glad they’re here, though. Every time I look at them, I’m reminded that I’m on the right track. Nothing I’m doing is in vain. They’re so intelligent, and I’m honestly in awe of them.

They’re still in secondary school, and the plan is to send them to the best universities possible. The schools I’m eyeing cost millions, so I need to get my money up. I’ve also thought about returning to school, but I don’t think it’ll work out. It’d be too awkward sitting with small children. So I’ll let my siblings do it.

You said something about black tax from extended family
Yes. There’s always one cousin asking me for money or one thing I need to pay for in the village. I just came back from a burial in my village in March because, apparently, it was an important person who died, and if we weren’t involved, they’d look down on my family. I had to buy a goat, crates of beer and even cook for people. I spent like ₦150k on that matter.

Just the other day, I got another call that another person died, and we had to buy another goat and crates of beer. As how?

How would you describe your relationship with money?
I feel like I’m at a point where I can finally breathe. I’m not tense about money anymore, because I have most of my responsibilities covered. Even if I don’t get a client in a month — which isn’t possible — I’ll be fine. I haven’t worked actively since January, and I still get ₦300k/month at the least.

Have you considered getting an additional income source?
The thought of starting a business has crossed my mind. The senator promised to give me money if I ever need to set up anything, but nothing concrete has come to mind yet.

I’m very comfortable where I am right now. I earn more than most civil servants, and I never get stranded; my love-vendor makes sure of that. I even reject clients sometimes when the requests get too bizarre.

What are some of the bizarre requests you’ve gotten?
Someone wanted me to eat his shit for ₦10m. Good money but omo, shit? Nah. Another one offered me ₦800k to wear a Love Machine and peg him, but I wasn’t comfortable with that. Then there are the ones who want to pee on you. People have weird fantasies. Maybe I’d have jumped at these requests in my early days when I was still trying to find my feet. But I’m comfortable enough to reject jobs now.

What’s one misconception about sex work that you’re tired of hearing?
People think sex workers always stand on the road. I’ve never had to do that to find a client. They’re also always shocked that I speak so well. It’s usually the first thing new clients say. Stuff like, “You’re so intelligent”. I don’t get it. Should I be stupid?

How would you rate your financial happiness on a scale of 1 – 10?
7. It’ll be a complete 10 when I send my siblings to the universities I want them to go to and comfortably cover all their bills.

I’m curious. Do you have any financial regrets?
Yes. I opened a charging centre for a cousin in 2023 because his mum — my mum’s younger sister — came to me crying about how he wasn’t doing anything in the village. It cost me about ₦250k to set up the place and buy a generator.

Two months later, he left the shop unattended to go and drink, and all the phones were stolen. I had to pay about ₦450k to the customers who lost their phones and bail him from jail. I’ll never set up a business for a family member again. I’d rather give them money and keep it moving.

How does having a love-vendor make your job better?
He tells me how much I’d get before I even accept a job. So, I don’t have to worry about doing the work and receiving peanuts later. Also, he doesn’t demand for more money. For instance, we can agree he’d take ₦150k for a ₦500k weekend job. If, for whatever reason, I get paid ₦700k instead, he never asks for more. It also helps that I’m very transparent with him, so we just work well together.

Earlier this year, he hooked me up with two Arab guys who wanted to do intense BDSM with a black woman. He was clear they were going to beat me, but I’d get $20k. The money wasn’t bad at all, so I agreed to it and the conditions they set — getting tested for STIs.

I was with them for three days, and it was intense. That thing they did in “Fifty Shades of Grey” isn’t BDSM at all. These guys used real iron handcuffs and beat me ehn. I used a whole week to recover. I’ll never do it again.

Damn. That’s a lot
I’ve not done any major job since that time. Right now, I’m just resting and catching my breath. My love-vendor still hooks me up with ₦200k one-night jobs once in a while, but it’s nowhere close to the weekly jobs I’m used to.

What was your average weekly income when you were working regularly?
2023 was a good year for me. I had many clients who came into town because of the general elections. Plus, due to my love-vendor’s actual job, he was in close contact with a lot of them. Sometimes I could get up to ₦2m in a week. The weekend of democracy day, there was a private party and I went home with $1k.

Do you worry about running out of clients at some point?
I do. It’s why I’m focused on saving for my siblings’ education and my family. I fear becoming old and ugly and suddenly being unable to land clients. Everyone in my family depends on me now, and I subconsciously save almost everything I earn in a month. Before January, I used to save like ₦800k/month.

I have three savings accounts: one has ₦1.7m in it, and it’s for health bills and emergencies. Another has ₦610k for rent savings — it’s not much because I don’t have to worry about rent for another year — and I have ₦9.6m in the third one for savings sake. It’s usually where the money for groceries, food and flexing comes from. A large part of this money came from the January job. It brought me ₦18m after my love-vendor got his cut, and I used part of it to get some wigs, pay my rent in advance, got phones for my siblings and a generator for my parents. There were other expenses, too. When I was done, I was left with about ₦10m. But it’s the account I spend from, which is why it’s around ₦9m now.
Let’s break down these expenses in a typical month

RomanceRe: A Hook-Up Girl's Earnings And Expenses (Pictured) by Gerrard59(op): 9:19am On Apr 17, 2024
Why was that?
My boyfriend had started dating someone else and misbehaving, so I ignored him. Now, I had to renew my rent myself, and I was saving for that.

Then, I met a senator at work. He told me he’d pay my salary so I wouldn’t have to work at the spa anymore. He knew about the happy endings and didn’t want me to do that while we were together. Apparently, people could “get to him” through me if I slept with other people.

The first night we slept together, he gave me $500. That was the first time I held foreign currency in my hand. When I got home that day, I had my bath and told myself I was washing away poverty.

Mad
It was a moment of realisation. So, I could earn that kind of money. Around that time, I was planning to leave my neighbourhood because of increased robberies. The senator suggested a place in an upscale part of Abuja, so we wouldn’t just be meeting at hotels.

I found an ₦800k apartment and told him the landlord requested a two-year payment upfront. This man sent me ₦4m. When I saw the alert, I just started crying and shouting. Like how? I immediately sent ₦700k to my mum and told her someone who wanted to marry me sent the money so she wouldn’t ask too many questions.

The COVID lockdown happened immediately after I moved in, but it was an amazing time for me. The senator’s wife was stuck in the UK, and I spent most of the time with him. He gave me ₦300k monthly and would sometimes send more when he wanted me to cook for him. He liked food, so that happened a lot.

What’s the highest amount of money he gave you?
₦9 million. I visited my parents for Christmas in 2020 and didn’t like the state of the house. So, I told him I wanted to build them a house, and he gave me the money a few months later.

Also, forget that thing he said about me not sleeping with other people. I occasionally had one-night stands with people I met in town or through friends I met at the salon or where I shopped. My friends would tell me about one actor or someone coming to town who needed girls, and those usually brought in $200 or about ₦100k.

The senator was my stable relationship and income source, though. But things fizzled out between us in 2021 when he started dating my friend.

Your friend?
Yeah. We met at a salon and became friends. They both met for the first time at my house. Sometime later, he asked about her and told me he was interested. To be fair, he asked if I didn’t mind, and I honestly didn’t. The girl asked me too, and I was like, “Girl, eat his money”.

The guy was married with kids. I wasn’t under any impression the relationship would go any further.

I think he felt guilty about “dumping” me, though. He sent me money more frequently towards the end of our relationship and even renewed my rent for two years. We still talk today, and I’m friends with both of them.

Did that affect your income stability?
There was no longer a particular amount guaranteed to come at the end of the month. So, I focused on getting one-off clients. I’d meet guys in clubs, we’d have sex, and they’d pay me. It wasn’t a great model, though. I didn’t discuss money with them before sleeping with them, and there were situations where I’d ride someone like a bicycle for hours and only get ₦50k after.

Why didn’t you talk about payment, though?
It was an awkward conversation for me. My friends always told me to discuss payment before the deed, but I just expected guys popping bottles in the club to have sense and do the right thing. By this time, my average income was about ₦200k – ₦300k/month.

I worked with this model for about two years, and it often didn’t turn out well. I even had a pregnancy scare in 2022. Technically, I only found out I was pregnant after I had a miscarriage. My period is never regular, and I’d missed it for about three months when I started getting really bad cramps. I was rushed to the hospital, and that’s how I found out. Ironically, I always use condoms. I got pregnant the one time I didn’t use one. It was crazy.

I’m sorry you went through that
Thanks. It’s not even the most unpleasant thing that’s happened to me in this job. One time, I was having sex with a guy, and his friend walked in. Then the guy I was with went, “Well, with the amount I plan to pay you, it makes sense if my friend gets a go, too. It’s the same one night.”

I was so pissed. I called my cab guy and left without collecting my money. See, having a cab guy is very necessary in this job. Online cabs don’t work all night, and sometimes I just need someone to come get me.

Anyway, my job became easier after a love-vendor approached me in 2023. He’d seen me hang out at a lounge a couple of times. He offered to hook me up with clients for 30% of whatever I make. It sounded good to me and we tried it for some time to see how it’d work. It worked out great and we still work together.

The 24-year-old sex worker in this #NairaLife left home at 18 in search of a better life. She’s achieved that goal. Now as her family’s breadwinner, her new focus is building an even better future for her siblings

What’s your earliest memory of money?
I grew up in a small town and thought I’d attend secondary school in the state capital with my friends. But my mum made it clear that we couldn’t afford it. The school fee was ₦65k, and books and uniforms would’ve added to that. I was 12 years old, and it was the first time it clicked that money makes things happen.

Tell me more about the financial situation at home
My parents both worked for the local government — which is the worst government job ever. They’re retired now, and my mum’s monthly pension is just ₦30k, and my dad’s is ₦47k. They spent almost 30 years in service.

But growing up, it wasn’t obvious things were bad until the secondary school incident. Most people in my small town didn’t have money, either. I settled for the run-down school in town, and when I asked for money to buy books — I love to read — my mum would be so confused. Like, why would I even think of using money to buy books when the money could take me to school or feed me for a week?

I’m also the first-born of three children, so I quickly learned to sacrifice my needs so my siblings could have nice things after I realised things weren’t great. For instance, my mum would buy Fanta, and I’d claim not to like it because of cramps, so she could give my siblings. If I said I wanted Fanta too, I knew she’d have to do mental calculations to see how we could afford to buy one more.

When was the first time you made money?
2017. I left my small town for the first time to write JAMB in a neighbouring town that was close to the state capital, and I remember being so excited. I was one step closer to the big city. I started thinking about what to do to make money and finally get to this city my friends had gone to.

So, with my mum’s help, I got a job in a small provisions store close to my house. My mum just wanted me to have something to pass time before uni.

The pay was ₦3k/month. The first time I got paid, I got the money in ₦500 notes, and it felt “bigger” in my hands. I was so excited.

I can relate
I used my salary to buy a book — Castles by Julia Garwood. When my mum asked about the money, I had only ₦500 left. My parents beat the shit out of me. After that, my mum collected my salary directly from my boss.

Well, uni admission didn’t work out, and my parents convinced me to try a polytechnic or college of education. But during Christmas, a friend visited from Abuja. She had a Tecno Android phone and a Facebook account. I didn’t have any of these.

She also had a job and lived in a rented apartment. I was fascinated by her stories about Abuja. At that point I was like, “What even is my state capital? I’m going to Abuja!”

Did your parents agree?
It took a couple of months and my grandmother to convince them, but they agreed. I told them I could get a job in Abuja and apply to a polytechnic in Nasarawa State.

In 2018, I landed in Abuja with ₦12k, moving in with my friend who lived on the outskirts of Abuja. My first culture shock was how expensive things were. What do you mean I had to pay ₦200 for a 10-minute bike ride? At home, ₦200 could take me from one town to another.

How did the job and school plan work out?
I focused on making money first. My friend helped me get a waitressing job at a bar. The salary was ₦15k/month. That was big money to me.

The male customers often tipped me ₦500 or bought me a plate of pepper soup. Of course, that involved flirting with them and rubbing their heads. One of them gave me ₦5k once, and I finally opened a bank account. In my head, I’d blown.

It was during this time I met the person who changed my view on life.

Who was that?
A free-spirited and loud fellow waitress at the bar. She encouraged me not to limit myself to the men in the bar who could only tip a maximum of ₦5k. Not when men in town could give me ₦50k.

At that point, my dad had retired and was dealing with blood pressure issues. My mum was also calling me frequently to complain about their needs and indirectly ask for money. So, I was more than ready to meet the ₦50k guys. If they liked me and wanted to sleep with me, no problem. As long as they brought money.

I started following this friend to clubs in town. Shortly after, I met a soldier. We started dating, and I quit my job at the bar.

Was he giving you an allowance?
Not exactly. But whenever I visited him, he gave me ₦10k – ₦20k. He also paid for my groceries and toiletries.

But I met someone else at a club four months after we started dating. The first time we had sex, he gave me ₦50k. He also wanted us to be exclusive because he wasn’t comfortable with me sleeping with other people. I weighed my options and decided soldier man could go. The new guy put me on a ₦50k monthly allowance, and he paid for my first apartment inside town. The rent was ₦105k. He also bought me a mattress and a standing fan.

Then, in 2019, I got a job at a spa.

How did that happen?
I’d become active on Facebook, and that’s how I met this babe who asked me to come be a masseuse at her spa. I hadn’t done it before, but the work schedule was on a one-week-on, one-week-off basis, and I figured I’d still have time to do other things. Plus, she offered ₦70k/month and the option to make more in tips from clients who wanted happy endings.

What do you mean by “Happy endings”?
The clients could request hand jobs or sex after the massage session. This brought me tips between ₦15k – ₦20k per client, and I could have up to eight clients in a day. The highest I ever got from one client was ₦50k.

My madam took a liking to me — maybe because she also came to Abuja to make it on her own. Three months into the job, she asked me to replace the manager, who was stealing and diverting her clients. My salary increased to ₦100k.

Managing client payments was one of my new duties, and it made me realise just how much the spa made. My madam would charge people ₦150k for a one-hour central massage session, and she was paying the people actually doing the work ₦70k/month. I thought it was unfair, but there was nothing I could do.

Interestingly, some of the clients continued to request for me even after I became the manager. My madam sent pictures of the girls available to the clients before their sessions, and they’d sometimes say they wanted me rather than the actual masseuses. I only accepted the requests if the tips were at least ₦50k. I was trying to gather as much money as possible.

so the guys paying high amount are mad. You talk as if transactional sex is an anomaly. Fool, swear you haven't given a gal thank you money after fúcking her. Its people like you that encouraged these gals to be commercialising their pussy after sending them gifts. No free pussy again
People like him and others erroneously believe sex is free, meanwhile it is not. Even husbands who pay via commitment have to pet, aka buy gifts, their wives periodically before they get access to the vagina.

Sex is not free. You pay at a point.

You mean I have paid for hookup? Lol..I haven't paid even 2k to have sex let alone paying 10- 40,k when I am not mad..

Mind you I am from South.
Look again at the moniker I quoted.

If there is real discipline among the girls they will never accept any money for sex.
Please understand that sex work is a business. If Girl A declines to sell, Girl B would agree. It is economics, not emotions. It is business. Na una still dey see am as mere sex.

Gerrard59:
I beg to disagree. It is men because men are the ones demanding for sex. No woman goes to force a man to sleep with her. It is men who seek out to get women. It is a global phenomenon which I illustrated. It is the reason governments cannot outlaw sex services. My stance is these men who wail daily to know that it is their fellow men, rich men, that fuel this demand. Women on their own don't like to fvck random men. It is biological as they are demisexual, but when there is an enormous demand for a service which only you can provide, economics says offer it provided it is legal.

If more men adopt this stance, the supply of women doing hookups will plummet. It is that simple. But as long as there are men who fork out 80K for sexual service rising, these women will continue to be in the business.

It is not the same dynamics because in all cases, economics trumps emotions. Australian politicians don't like Chinese politicians, but because their farmers have to sell their crop produce to China (a major consumer), they are appeasing the Chinese. I don't have to like you before I sell something to you. It is business. If I don't like him, but he offers good money, why not take it? It is the reason people study hard to get into tech. They don't like tech, but because it pays better than other professions, they learn it. Should the salaries of tech workers plummet to that of say teachers, nobody will want to enter the industry.

First, apple-to-oranges. The government can argue that there are alternatives to use, even though they might not be abundant or safe. In hookup's case, there is no natural alternative for a man who wants to fvck. In developed countries, there are suitable alternatives for those who don't have cars or want to drive, and they use them. Should keke become available in Tokyo, no one will use it because trains are ubiquitous and cheaper. Let there be a vast train network in Lagos, I bet you, no one will use an Okada. In return, Okadas will cease to exist. But Nigerian governments being who they are, put the cart before the horse.

Again, I disagree. The women don't sleep with themselves or ghosts. They sleep with fellow men like you and I. Also, I am not arguing it should stop because it cannot due to testosterone. I am not that idealistic. The average man globally likes to fvck.

I mentioned this - reduce poverty rates in Nigeria and most women will see reasons not to engage in hookup because there are plentiful alternatives to earning good money. Remember, they are demisexual. So an opportunity has been made available. Also, to create a functioning society depends on the men in that society, not the women. It is you who stated that "men create the society and women integrate into it".

It was weak men that made these girls what they are today

We all know girls have always been materialistic since donkey years ago, but you see the year 2020 was when this nonsense escalated, Yahoo boys made billions of naira that period from their trade that tjeybstaryed buying stuff without bargaining, including trousers and oloshos.

Some even went as far as buying them iPhones and expensive wigs just to have access to the pusse them

This was the era, that saw a sharp increase in everything, pairs of trousers that used to be 6-9k suddenly jumped to 16-18k, home delivery rounds them up to 25-30k, you know what home delivery is Sha

When you hear this girls say if you don't have money to spend on them move away, I don't blame them, because I know there are still several other weaken out there who will carry her responsibilities on his head, just for her to fuckkk him or clean his house amd do few wifely duties, and men being men, he would soon get tired of her and discard her, look for another girl that have been discarded by another guy, while another guy picks up the one he just discarded
Someone who understands the topic at hand rather than those who will do anything to put their preek in the linings of a woman, but don't have the money.

If you realised that your wife or your wife to be have less body count and doesn't cheat on you, hold her tight you found a good woman.

Social media have have brought more damages on Our ladies.

When you enter Tinder, coded runs and so on you will begin to wonder if you will ever see women to marry in this generation. Very pretty little girls especially on Tinder where they will just get verified easily. Though I can't denied that good and decent ladies still exist..

Imagine the kind of body counts those girls are accumulating and one day a man will fall in love with one and pay her bride price without realising many dick she had received.

Some times I catch cruise with them telling and asking them how much and when to meet..the least they can say is 40k. what is 40k compare to the risk you will be expose to? You don't think of murder, you don't think of several diseases and so on. Mehn it's terrible out there.
Nigerian men, especially those in the south, are at fault. They are the ones offering these girls as high as 200K a night for sexual romps. So, stop blaming the girls and heap them on the men. Nigerian men would spend any amount just to have sex. I have written on it countless times on Nairaland. My parents own hotels, which I managed, and I came across hundreds of men who spend a lot on sex. Most of these men are married! Even in school, I knew what men did to have sex with the females. One even had a special room for sex in his office. This belief that the women are at fault is entirely misplaced. It is men who structure societies while women integrate into it. https://www.nairaland.com/7684230/how-reduce-hook-ups-nigeria

A Nairalander even wrote here how politicians now go to the American University in Yola to seek women after their debauchery has been established across Baze University and its likes. You have politicians giving young girls cars worth up to 40 million naira. Na him write am. You have them paying high amount of rents in upscale areas across the country. You have Nigerian men pulling funds together to rent an apartment strictly for sexual affairs. What do you think goes on in those short-let apartments which have sprung up recently? Nigerian men spend a lot of money on sex. In fact, they are the ones now spoiling Ghanaian girls with money just for sex. They do the same in other countries, except the West where every woman has money, as economic opportunities are plentiful. This is why they lament about the dearth of sex after dem don japa. The only men who complain about hook up are men who don't have money or religious men who actually practice what they preach. I say this because I knew deacons, knight-holders, and pastors who have many sexual partners other than their wives.

There is nothing anyone can tell me: Nigerian men like to fvck!

If Southern Nigerian men want to reduce hook up, they know what to do. Meet your northern counterparts for answers. Just stop the hypocrises and lies. E don too much.

I agree with you for the most part.

But imagine that you have a particular babe that was there when you were building your shit. She cheered you up when you were not yet wealthy and even supported financially.

Will it be fair to take a second wife over her when you finally arrive especially if you are aware she wants monogamy.
It is not polygamy that most women are against, especially from middle-class men, but they are against their men approaching other women. Unfortunately, testosterone does not consider that aspect of life. There are fewer marriageable men than marriageable women. Nigeria is a poor country, and some cultures, regardless of Christianity, actually support or turn a blind eye towards polygamy. So, the belief that men would not approach these women is entirely foolhardy. I can only believe a man who is against having affairs with other women than his wife if he is well-to-do. This is because most, if not all, men who lampoon sexual affairs with different women don't have money. The other close group is men who are very religious and actually practice what they preach. Very Nigerian religious clerics practice what they preach, so I am cautious about this group.

Moreover, there was a study I read which stated that communities abut to a coastal area have a high preponderance for wanton sexual affairs. Check most islands; they have high rate of teenage pregancies, STIs, low amount of virgins, high sexual liberal culture etc. This means anyone planning to marry an Ijaw man, for instance, YET expects him to have high fidelity, is on a fool's errand.

No matter what some people think, I'll continue to say it that men are not naturally designed to be with multiple women! It's just about ego boosting and for show off that some yesteryears men were polygamous. If nature designed men for multiple women, a typical man would not get tired after one to two rounds of sex.
Nature aka biology actually designed men to have sex as many times as possible. That is what testosterone is there for. Scientific publications have it that men possess more testosterone than women. Sperm cells are PRODUCED DAILY by every man. As I write this post and as you read, we both produced sperm cells. These cells have to be purged out of the system, and that is mainly through ejaculation. It takes a lot of discipline for a man to suppress his sexual urge, as testosterone is a hormone, not a m.oron.

Additionally, lack of frequent sexual activity in men increases the risk of prostate cancer, of which black men are the highest risk group. What else? Married women weaponise sex, yes they do. Married women, especially after two or three children, start asking "if sex is food?" to a group of humans who produce sperm every day and are at risk of prostate cancer. Where else would these men go to, if not sex workers?

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22552705/#:~:text=Sexual%20desire%20is%20typically%20higher,in%20studies%20of%20sexual%20desire.

https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/hsph-in-the-news/why-more-sex-may-lower-prostate-cancer-risk/

And please don't write that rich men aren't interested in sex. They are and spend a lot on it.

Most women in their selfish thoughts and parochial way of viewing things often tend to conflate polygamy with promiscuity. Polygamy curbs, if not eliminate promiscuity while monogamy Bo only aids it, enables all factors that warrant it.

If one man marries one woman, who married the remaining rest? They are the ones who lures and entice the married men.

All this issues should be blamed on the menfolk. Men are responsibile for ruining everything.

I have a lot analysis to share on this, but ain't got the strength now.
Thanks for this. Another Nairalander by moniker Causalobserver has stated this: polygamy actually forces a man to commit since he has to cater for her offspring and the woman herself. Unlike monogamy where he can get the milk for free without catering for the ranch or buying the cow. Most men would do anything to dodge commitment which is why marriage within a two parent household benefits women much more than men.

And yes, as you stated, men are responsible for everything. Men control the society.https://www.nairaland.com/6643241/nigerian-men-failed-women

Ps.
One thing I have always disliked men/guys doing is - after going about destroying girls/ladies in their young sexually active life, introducing them to vices, and badly things or by demanding such from them in order to fulfil a puerile fantasy they will outgrow as they mature, when ready to settle down and start a family, they now not only complain and weep around about the scarcity of decent, tight, up-right, non-wayward girls/ladies who aren't b1tchy, but forgot that they contribute to their making.
Perfect!

In some societies where premarital sex is frowned, the men marry the women immediately. Northern Nigeria is an example. However, in the south, the men introduce these ladies into sexual debauchery WHILE paying heavily for it. Then turn tomorrow to complain that their girls are wild. Who made them wild if not the men? Northern women are only wild in their husbands' houses, while those in the south are wild as spinsters.

Southern Nigerian men have to lay on the bed they made.

Thank you very much for taking your time to respond.

At the risk of sounding like I'm asking too much, do you have a glimpse of how I can stay back please?
What options do I have?
I know H1b visa is tough and even tougher for non-stem grads.
I know of marriage which I'm too young for.
Any others?
Marriage is your best and fastest option, for everyone sef. The most viable option for a Nigerian is NIW. If a law student (https://twitter.com/ImadeIyamu), not yet a grad o, can be approved, then it is possible for anyone else. Just begin the process immediately you land in the US.

Thank you for your prompt responses. One of my uncle want to sponsor me. I just want to know if there will be need for Wes evaluation before applying to either US or Canada university or I can just start applying to universities without the evaluation.
Please make me understand... Thank u
Get the evaluation first. While it is being evaluated, apply to universities.

But you need to tell the guy that getting graduate fellowship in the US is extremely competitive even for those that have first class. Imagine a school having to defray $51,000 for you in tuition and cost of living for the first year.

The question is people that don’t have competitive profile and doesn’t have parents who can bring $70,000 , how are they doing it?
Those people don't apply to American universities. Unlike in the UK or Canada, international students in the US are not permitted by law to work while studying except inside the campus, and campus jobs cannot sustain one's living expenses or pay one's tuition fees. I don't think Nigerian banks lend to prospective students, unlike their Indian counterparts. And yes, I agree with you that graduate fellowships are incredibly competitive. The dude in question once worked at a top public laboratory in the US during his undergraduate studies. He knows his onions.

I have a first class in Business Administration from ABU and I intend to do an MBA but I can’t sponsor myself at the moment.

Please advise on where and how to get a scholarship, preferably fully funded.
Write the GMAT and score at least 750. As an African, that is a very high score. Apply to schools in the Texas/Geogia area, plenty Nigerians dey that side. What also matters is where you have worked and how long. Your impact, too. Extracurricular activities come in at the last.

Hello sir, pls I have a question on the WES evaluation.
Do I really need to evaluate my results to either a Canadian or US degree equivalent.
I have a diploma certificate with 3.70/4.0 cgpa and a degree with 3.0/5.0 cgpa. Do I really need to evaluate my results with Wes before applying to any Canadian or USA universities.
Note I will not be looking into any scholarship route as that path is extremely competitive.
Secondly, if my Wes evaluation can give me a 2.1 Canada or US degree equivalent, can I still go the scholarship route?!

Thank you.
Preferably do it to US equivalent as the US has more universities. Evaulate both and notify WES when and who to send the results to. If you are not looking at scholarships, then it means you are very rich or you have a wealthy guardian/parent to sponsor you through school.

Raising children here no be child's play. Have you reason why onyibo de born just one kid or 2?

Once u start raising kids and they are in primary school below then one parents have to stay home or look for part time job... Like 20 hrs etc.
You Need to plan how to get them to school, how to bring them home etc.
You need to plan the kind house to stay. How here is so expensive. Rent
Until I japa'd, I always reason why people in the developed world no dey born plenty considering the bonuses and stable environment. But being here, I even thought of having just a child rather than two as I wish. To train a child to 18 and in some cases 25 takes a lot. Many things happen along the way - job losses, changes in the economy, death, natural disasters etc.

You dare not shout on ur child no matter what they do. Else u risk ur job n children.
A child can wake up n say he wants to be a opposite gender. You have nothing to say.
A child can smoke.. You have nothing or little to do
The West don go ooo So, I cannot reprimand my child? shocked shocked

But u see that student visa e don do many people something including me. Coming here to cough out pounds paying fees +rent
I wish you God's speed to re-stablise and enjoy the abroad for what it has to offer.

Why prospective MBA students get it because of the huge fund they could have committed. AnMBA, in the US, that’s less than $70,000 per session stands lesser chance of getting the visa.

STEM that have to do with Space Engineering, Robotics and AI get it. I am not talking of general STEM courses like Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
Again, it depends on one's work experience in Nigeria, GMAT scores and how robust the funding is. Also, the calibre of the university matters. Every STEM gets it, provided the source of funding is robust. I recall a lass I met during NYSC who went for one Design kini kon program which resembles a branch of civil engineering. She was sponsored by a top university based on her projects and undergraduate degree. In fact, those general STEM courses are the ones which get the visas rather than Space Engineering and Robotics. How many universities in Nigeria offer Astronomy? Robotics? AI? Even getting admission would be hard as one is competing against Chinese, Indians, and American residents, who have more opportunities to intern and practice those disciplines before grad school. I know the kind profiles wey I read for reddit/GradAdmission. Our computer science grads have it tough, let alone AI kini kon.

I have used the WES iGPA Calculator by inputting all my scores from polytechnic down to university and got this score below 👇

I am only contemplating if I will still get the same when I start the process which is extremely expensive plus the stress I will go through by obtaining my transcript from the two school and DHL to WES. .
Most likely. There is a WES thread in the Education section. Search there for more details.

I feel real sad when u guys make such comparisons, it's filled with so much bias.
U see the culprit of this crime, they'll actively search and place him behind bars. Take naija for inatance, there are so many (numbering in thousands) confirmed murderes that are roaming free only because of their religion. They are deliberately spared and forgiven by the system. It's the reason why we complain daily, but here u are making an incomplete comparson. Playing the victim card. Just few days ago i saw a news where a community got attacked with more than 10 dead by bandits and it did not even make headline.
While his post makes sense, coming from a Nigerian sounds hypocritical and odd to me. Maybe a Ghanaian or Ivorien, not a Nigerian where terrorists are integrated into the military. I don't know which country does that practice o.

If any black or Africans want to do such he should do it in his home country and if any Islamic jihadist want to do such, they should do it in Muslim dominated countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia, why must you travel out to another country and commit crime and you still want them not to lebel ur country evil, They have every right to cover it because it thier citizen, just the way you guys cover up evil in the North and only cry out loud when it's start burning same north, they might just be learning from you
Fair argument. If you must commit a crime, do so in your dominant society. The moment is done outside, they are at liberty to label whatever term they wish.

The world is not a fair place.

How does a fully funded international scholarship works? Would they pay for my visa and ticket?
So far, I know only the MEXT scholarship from the Japanese government, which pays for EVERYTHING you need. The Japanese embassy waives the visa fee, while flight tickets are issued (both to and fro). Although, you can decline to return after your studies. I don't know about the Commonwealth Scholarship by the British government, but it is another generous scholarship.

Another line some people left for kids.. I have 4 parents currently in my school that have lost their kids to the government through social care. I mean between space of 7 months of my stay here..i see am korokoro. One is 5 kids including twins. Woman wants to run mad. And all of this parents lost their jobs. Are jobless currently

My brother Nigeria gives more sanity than this countries except u have a good job as expatriates, someone to bail u out in difficulties etc.

The time u start to remain stable is when u have your permanent residence.
No be small thing o. shocked shocked From my experience so far and based on what I have read, moving abroad pays off:

- When one is single
- The younger, the better. Anything above 30 needs thorough planning.
- Childless, both home and abroad.
- Work visa from a company in the country of destination.
- Full scholarship which covers living expenses, and better if it covers tuition too.

Don’t apply for management courses in the US, if you are older than 18. E get why…. your chances of getting the visa are slimmer than a 1mm diameter thread.
If your brain fit carry all those STEM courses, go for that. Think of courses in that field that are not too expensive, otherwise, go and study in Europe fez and later on cross to the US.
The issuance of visa depends on his work experience in Nigeria and source of funding. There are many folks with management degrees who got issued. How do prospective MBA students get issued a visa then?

Even for STEM, there is no guarantee. That is the US immigration for you. In other countries, a full package scholarship is a clear assurance visa would be issued.

Thanks a lot for this. Your responses are always eye opening.

I noticed these countries' universities favor STEM courses. Any hope for people in management sciences, with a 2:1 at that?
I know it's possible but is there anything I can do to successfully compete against STEM people?
Yes, there are more scholarships for STEM studies and graduates than management as STEM fields power/fuel the global economy. It is why I keep hammering on mathematics - folks who know mathematics or studied math based courses wouldn't find it hard to get the best jobs or scholarships.

For management grads, again, GRE/GMAT - the higher the score, the higher your chances of being considered. The same applies to TOEFL. Please don't listen to anyone who says you should apply for a TOEFL waiver. You can do so, but only if your GMAT/GRE verbal score is very high. Otherwise, write TOEFL and score at least 100. You are a native speaker of the language as you were born with it. You are competing against Europeans, Indians, Chinese, Vietnamese and native Americans. You are going for a war, so you should be prepared.

First step is perusing the websites of interested universities and their departments, check for their admission requirements and professors you desire to work with, check sources of funding for international students etc. No source of funding for foreign students? Jump and pass. Prepare to send email asking well-thought out questions. No go ask questions wey the information dey the website o.

To seive through schools, use the Wikipedia entries of R1 and R2 universities.
