opeaceo:Third Schedule of the 1999 Constitution H - National Economic Council 18. The National Economic Council shall comprise the following members - (a) the Vice-President who shall be the Chairman; (b) the Governor of each State of the Federation; and (c) the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria established under the Central Bank of Nigeria Decree 1991 or any enactment replacing that Decree. 19. The National Economic Council shall have power to advise the President concerning the economic affairs of the Federation, and in particular on measures necessary for the co-ordination of the economic planning efforts or economic programmes of the various Governments of the Federation. |
pendusky:If you're familiar with the Nigerian constitution, you'd know that the Vice President is the constitutional head of the National Economic Council. |
Roadmike:Lol. The excessive craze about sex in the world of Islam is sickening, to say the least. |
The ignorance and hypocrisy on this thread stinks! I personally know non-muslim ladies who wear the hijab every once in a while. It's a fashion item. As for the so-called ones who want to lecture us on morality. Some 150 years ago, your great-grandmothers were probably sashaying around the streets in your village stark n@ked. At the end of the day, it's only just the flesh. |
akike:And what exactly is the point of your comment? You just want to be seen, ko? Ok, seen! Now go get a life. |
Ah! These people are confused o. |
Correct girl! Flaunt what you've got. The hypocrites can take to Oshiomhole's advice. The hijab has always been a fashion item! |
Now waiting for Adeboye and his goons to be ingenious with the billions they make every now and then and ease the pain they often inflict on those plying the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. |
BIAFRANFLAG:You are obviously disturbed. |
BIAFRANFLAG:People like you have a problem. It's called hypocrisy. Where in the post did she say her virginity makes her better than others? Forseeing the backlash from you lot, she jejely stated that her stance on virginity till marriage has nothing to do with any holier-than-thou attitude but that it's a family tradition. If you have a good advice, give. But don't come lecturing about what isn't. |
So Shagari is my birthday mate? Happy birthday to us! |
I'm starting to like this guy. |
opeaceo:Swerve! |
opeaceo:Mention a church that doesn't squeeze its members for money and I promise I'll take a one-week break from NL. |
opeaceo:What are you saying? Are you saying not all churches ask for tithes and offerings? Your god is against LGBT and if what in your bible is to be believed, he committed genocide against a people just to prove that point. There are numerous examples like that. So what are you saying? |
opeaceo:50% of Christians in the world are Catholics. So while a backyard denomination in an African corner is just as "deadly" - if not more so, the Catholic Church has the broader reach. Shay you now grab? BTW, I hope you saw the thread on the frontpage about the pastor who is now asking his church members to sow seeds in dollars. Religion is one huge comic show! ![]() |
opeaceo:"As the Zika virus spreads in Latin America, Catholic leaders are warning women against using contraceptives or having abortions, even as health officials in some countries are advising women not to get pregnant because of the risk of birth defects. ... 'Contraceptives are not a solution,' said Bishop Leonardo Ulrich Steiner , the secretary general of the National Council of Bishops of Brazil, and an auxiliary bishop of Brasília, in an interview. 'There is not a single change in the church’s position.' " www.nytimes.com/2016/02/14/world/americas/catholic-leaders-say-zika-doesnt-change-ban-on-contraception.html |
opeaceo:" The Catholic Church believes that artificial contraception is sinful and immoral and may frustrate a divine plan to bring a new life into the world. Instead of using birth control methods such as the pill, IUDs, diaphragms, and condoms, Catholics can use Natural Family Planning (NFP) techniques." www.dummies.com/how-to/content/the-catholic-church-and-contraception.html |
opeaceo:An abused wife decides to stick to her marriage because her pastor says it's for better for worse and ultimately has her life taken away from her by the abusive husband and you think that doesn't affect me? Couples refuse to use contraceptives or engage in abortion because their religion says not to and as a result they flood the society with kids beyond their capacity and you think that doesn't affect me? Your religion preaches hate against unbelievers and you think that doesn't threaten me? Your pastor was in church celebrating a rigged election and you think I shouldn't react to that? C'mon! |
opeaceo:Your "belief" proselytizes, agressively. Saying it's "your belief your life" is like saying it's "Boko Haram's belief and it's members' lives". It affects all of us, directly! |
There's zika virus out there with its devastating effect on foetuses and new-borns. Your church is preaching against using contraceptives and abortion to tackle the disaster and you are still wondering why we keep talking about your religion? You religion does not tolerate LGBT people and you still wonder why we won't keep mute? Your religion taxes people, reducing their purchasing power with its attendant effect on the economy and you are still wondering? Your religion fuels wars and genocides and you are still asking why we keep discussing your god? We'll stop when people see your religion for what it is. |
opeaceo:Because our lives, our living, our future are at stake if we don't. There are two major competitive religions out there that seek to control everything - relationships, finance, scientific and technological progress, education, health ... everything! And here you are wondering why atheists talk about your beliefs and its innuendos? How's that different from Malaysian moslems who took non-muslims to court for using the word "Allah" to refer to their supreme deity and got a judgement in their favour? Just yesterday, all the nightmares, inner-conflict, self-doubt I suffered as a kid those years back as a result of church-brainwashing and all that came flooding back. And ... I'm just thankful that I'm out of it. Do you think I'd open my korokoro eyes and allow my kids to go through the same torture? Mbanu! |
ronald4lif:Thank you. Some Sundays back, I was at this church service where a preacher who was delivering a sermon on something about light and glory went on about how god, after creating the earth, created the sun by summoning light. Just like that - from nothing, something! Hard evidence tells us that without the sun's energy, the earth wouldn't even be here. How come the xtian god now created his own earth before the sun? The preacher was using the sun - the centre of our solar system - to sugarcoat his silly teachings. And the congregants devoured everything, sheepishly. My stomach churned. But then, it is what it is. The world is a beautifully crazy place. |
Enjoyable read. |
abumeinben:That's lovely. I was in Saturn not too long ago and it's a very wonderful place. Enjoy your stay! |
Fraudsters everywhere. |
abumeinben:You must be living on Jupiter. |
How come the butcher who amputated someone's hand wasn't mentioned in the write-up. He should be arrested and prosecuted too. He deserves some quality jail time. |
Adele - Love in the Dark. |
What could be more stupid than this? The emphasis now should be on expanding and re-orientating the police force, not increasing the number of military personnel in the country. What are those guys actually doing sef? Seriously? Even 100,000 is too much. Their idleness is why they have all the time on their hands to bully the same paople who pay their salaries. You want to contain a protest, you deploy soldiers. Wetin concern soldier concern civilian protest? I keep saying it, the best way forward in this country is zero-military. We won't be the first to try it and we certainly won't be the last. |
Donpressman:Nna, Fayose is not creating jobs, he pays salaries once every two months, and he comes on air every now and then to lambast the government at the centre. What has he done to alleviate his people's suffering? I bet you're one of those calling for Aregbe's head due to his failure to perform his job effectively. Fayose is now in the same shoes as Aregbe and you're here making excuses for him. What steps has he taken to make Ekiti State less reliant on the centre in the long term? Planting trees... You asked about states creating jobs. Lagos, Anambra, Ogun, Kaduna, Ebonyi... Or are these not states in Nigeria? Even Ayade of Cross River is out with his own futuristic plan. While the Bashorun of Afao is busy dancing etighi in Uyo. And for you to say Ekiti is "just a state in a federation" shows how ignorant you are about how our political system works. |
Fayose just admitted to his own incompetence. Here is a man who promised jobs and transformational development during his campaigns two years ago. In saner climes, he'll, by now, be on his way out of office. But this is Nigeria ... Planting just trees... No wonder he has all the time in the world to make noise. Talk about entering one chance. |
