CultureRe: Yoruba Obas: I Stand By My Ranking — Alake by Ghost01(m):
The Alake should have kept his mouth shut. We don't need this kind of distraction right now. Not when the Ooni is trying to rally everyone around.

As for the so-called Benin chief whose attempt at revisionism is comedic at best, face your work o (Uche style).

The Ooni didn't just tak about solid minerals, he also mentioned patronising made-in-Nigeria goods. At this point, we must consider the exploitation of all of our available resources.

Where are the feminists when you need them?

Richard Dawkins it was who said while he respects the right of everyone to wear whatever tickles his/her fancy, he personally feels insulted as a human being whenever he sees a woman all covered up in burqa.

I must say I'm with Dawkins on this one!
PoliticsRe: Murray-Bruce Criticizes Nigeria's 2016 Budget by Ghost01(m): 10:21am On Jan 31, 2016
This comedian called Murray-Bruce should stop making common nonsense and face his primary assignment. The 2016 Appropriation Bill has already passed second reading and here is is talking bullsh!t. It's not too late for him to raise the issues he's raised here on the floor of the house. And if he knows he can't do his job, he should step aside and allow someone else to take the position.

Christianity EtcRe: Should Churches And Mosque Be Made To Pay Tax To Boost Nigeria's Economy? by Ghost01(m): 11:33am On Jan 28, 2016
carinmom:
The Imams particularly those in khamsu salawatu mosques are not paid by the mosques. They lead prayers for the sake of Allah. Most of the wealthy imams and alfas do not feed from the mosque offerings in most cases, but many of them have other businesses and some are civil servants.

But pls don't get me wrong, what I'm saying is what i know is the situation in the north, i don't know for other places though.
Ok. I was going to say I know one or two full-time Alfas/Mallams/Imams who have no side-business. Thanks for the elucidation though.

I hear you. But then again, from where comes the pay of the Imams and Alfas?

Oversight function lies with the legislature & not any ministry.
Besides disbursing funds, bros, the Ministry of Finance also monitors. Kobakaba?

And part of Mr Falana's allegations is that Ms Iweala superintended over extra-budgetary allocations, and he gave instances. She is yet deny the allegations. Name-calling and dancing to raggae won't save her this time.

Her job is policy formulation and allocation of funds appropriately & not to determine how they spend it.
Part of allocating funds appropriately is ensuring that the funds allocated are well spent. And it is the Ministry of Finance that we're talking about here .... Don't comment like someone who is ignorant of the workings of government!

Besides, the then legislative committees on Defence must also give account.

Sunnycliff:
It is double taxation to tax church offerings because the givers have paid their taxes. But you can tax the church investments like Schools, hospitals, Event centres and any other income generating venture owed by the religious organizations.

Will the government also tax babalawoshuh
Going by your illogic, it is also double taxation to collect personal income taxes from salary earners seeing as their employers do pay corporate tax.

All religious bodies have to pay tax, registered commercial Babalawos inclusive.

Like GEJ, like NOI. If she claims she wasn't in the know about the carnage on the country's treasury in her capacity as the Minister of Finance, she'd be affirming that she was an incompetent Finance Minister. If she confesses that she had an inkling about what was going on then, she'd be admitting to her complicity in the lootery.

The position she's in presently isn't an enviable one. Not even the awards she's been getting can absolve her.
