carinmom: The Imams particularly those in khamsu salawatu mosques are not paid by the mosques. They lead prayers for the sake of Allah. Most of the wealthy imams and alfas do not feed from the mosque offerings in most cases, but many of them have other businesses and some are civil servants.
But pls don't get me wrong, what I'm saying is what i know is the situation in the north, i don't know for other places though. Ok. I was going to say I know one or two full-time Alfas/Mallams/Imams who have no side-business. Thanks for the elucidation though. |

Part of allocating funds appropriately is ensuring that the funds allocated are well spent. And it is the Ministry of Finance that we're talking about here .... Don't comment like someone who is ignorant of the workings of government! Besides, the then legislative committees on Defence must also give account. |

Sunnycliff: It is double taxation to tax church offerings because the givers have paid their taxes. But you can tax the church investments like Schools, hospitals, Event centres and any other income generating venture owed by the religious organizations.
Will the government also tax babalawos Going by your illogic, it is also double taxation to collect personal income taxes from salary earners seeing as their employers do pay corporate tax. All religious bodies have to pay tax, registered commercial Babalawos inclusive. |

Like GEJ, like NOI. If she claims she wasn't in the know about the carnage on the country's treasury in her capacity as the Minister of Finance, she'd be affirming that she was an incompetent Finance Minister. If she confesses that she had an inkling about what was going on then, she'd be admitting to her complicity in the lootery.
The position she's in presently isn't an enviable one. Not even the awards she's been getting can absolve her. |
