@Shymmex You sir are a disgrace! What the hell are you talking about?
Is it the South Africa whose special forces were routed by rag tag rebels in CAR? The same SA who was thoroughly embarrased in DRC and so have decided to watch with its tail between his legs while a country in its SADC burns? The same Ethiopia that nearly lost an entire region of its country to El-shabab? The same Algeria where Belmoktar and other AQIM members have reigned supreme?

Nigerian military hardware may not be all that, but we remain the ONLY African nation to have successfully ended wars in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast et al. Ever wondered why the only places in Africa where there are still flashpoints are places that have not tasted the military might of our Khaki boiz.

Honestly, I would like to know how Amechi has disrespected the office of the President.

Maybe I didn't get the memo or is Nigeria now an Autocratic state where one must not have any differing opinion from the President's? So if Fashola was a PDP governor, this is what he'll be going through for daring to state his opinion on a matter?
I'm highly disappointed by a lot of peeps here.

Absolutely nothing wrong with Remi becoming the Governor of LAS if she's qualified. Problem is, she's not. Madam Remi is a very soft hearted person and a woman who wants to hold arguably the most important governorship position in the Federation must be strong willed and vocal (someone in the mould of Dora Akunyili).

That said, I think I'll throw my weight behind Dr. Muiz for now. I still feel he's d only one apart from Dr. Agbaje that can keep the ball Uncle Fash has set in motion rolling.

Why is he wasting tax payers money on irrelevances?

Actually Bariga roads are been fixed as we speak. As for the schools; a lot as been done already but I feel its still not enough to reverse the years of rot in our system.

This wasn't built with Lagos tax-payers funds, Fashola was only there as the special guest of honour.

Sports / Footballers Or Fashion Icons? World's Best 11 by gidiMonsta(m): 2:15pm On Jun 23, 2013
With the football season at an end and our favourite stars off vacationing in different parts of the world, we at Ember365 presents the 11 most Stylishly Dressed footballers of the season (in no particular order of course).

1. DAVID BECKHAM:

I lied, its in a particular order and David tops the list. He is truly a modern-day icon in that his fame extends well beyond football. He represents a notion of modern masculinity - strong, fit, healthy for sure, but also sensitive and considerate. There was a time when footballers were not considered to be fashion role models. David changed all that. He models professionally for a lot of the world's top fashion brands.

2. THIERRY HENRY:

Popularly known as Igwe (which means King in Igbo) to the millions of football followers in Nigeria, Thierry is indeed King but not just of the green grass, he also rules the runway. His style and swag coupled with his soccer wizardry leaves you racking your brain just to get an adequate vocab to describe this hunk. He has been known to use fashion to fight racism.

3. CHRISTIANO RONALDO:

Messi may be Ronaldo's arch nemesis in football but he doesn't even come close when it comes to Fashion. Christiano was once quoted saying: “Off the field I like to go out, but not too much. I love to dress well, love Italian fashion. And I like to eat well. But in general I'm a simple guy. Cars are not my great passion, but I think it's important to have the best. To me, music is a must;”. A fashion icon that he is, Cristiano always makes heads turn due to his outrageous style which he accessorizes with oodles of attitude. His fashion sense has made him one of the most imitated personality in the word. Also he loves to shop, whether it is for himself or for his numerous girlfriends. He has his own fashion line called CR7 Collections and CR9 watches.

4. Xabi Alonso:

Born Xabier "Xabi" Alonso Olano in the Basque region of Spain in 1981, This gorgeous Madridsta is not just known for his intrinsic vision, his ability to read the game and deliver those deadly passes on the green pitch; his sense of fashion is legendary in Spain. In 2010 the Spanish media voted him as the Best dressed footballer in the world! In his past time he models for Polo Ralph Lauren, Prada, IWC Shaffhausen, Adidas. Dsquared and a host of other top labels.

5. Michael Ballack:

Michael Ballack has the reputation of being one of the most physically fit players of his generation, and most female admirers consider him one of the most dashing footballers around. Unfortunately, his scores of suitors will have to turn the attention elsewhere, as Ballack has been happily committed to his long-term girlfriend Simone Lambe since 2008. The couple have three children together.

6. Gerard Pique: Mr Shakira, one of a few names giving to him when he and the songstress Shakira came out of the closet with their relationship exudes masculinity with his intimidating presence and icy blue stare. A sense of style that mimics a model and a face like Chris Hemsworth, it doesn't really get better than that. His moniker "Kipo" which means "happy" is an apt description of this "Spanish Thor" who's always ready with a smile for either team-mate or opponent.

7. Iker Casilas: Nicknamed the saint iker, a rare homegrown talent that has given his all to madrid. Iker made during the 2010 World Cup for being distracted during their opening match by his reporter girlfriend sara carbonero. His sense of style is well above his peers and in 2006. He was recently named sexiest man alive by Glamour Magazine.

8. Luca Toni: The Pavullo de frignano born striker, stading at 6ft 5in. is simply put the definition of a man according to greek mythology. Possessing a physique that rivals any top runway model. He has appeared on the cover of magazines including vanity fair.

9. Hidetoshi Nakata: Once dubbed Japan's David Beckham, Nakata has always had a unique sense of style. After retiring at age 29 following a crappy year at Bolton, he decide to pursue his other passion Modelling. He had a stint as a GQ model and also appeared on Japanese GQ. On a week trip to London once, he packed two suitcases of clothes "just to keep things different"

10.Kevin Prince Boateng:

Born to a Ghanaian Father and German Mother. Nicknamed the "The Ghetto Kid", Kevin is a flamboyant midfieder with a good sense of style with a knack for stirring up trouble. Dubbed as the replacement for Ballack before switching to play for his Father's Homeland. He recently harsh remarks from his fans after dumping his wife for a model who is known for being a social climber.

11. Dani Alves:

Daniel Alves da Silva (born 6 May 1983), commonly known as Dani Alves, is a Brazilian footballer. He plays as an offensive right defender for FC Barcelona and the Brazilian national team.

Sincere 9gerian: "Analysts have said previous attempts to get the refineries going were held back by vested interests such as fuel importers profiting from the status quo"

Including the ACN sponsored Ojota
Lagos fuel subsidy protest. Ghana has removed fuel subsidy and heavens did not fall. When in a few years time, the down stream sector of Ghana blossoms, some Nigerians will start making senseless comparison.

Anyway, enemies of progress. God pass all of una. Thank you Dangote

Insincere_retard, na shit full your skull walahi!!!

He said making a new refinery run at a profit would
work even if the government failed to scrap the
subsidised fuel price that has deterred others from
investing.

The Lebanese man is probably just a gun runner making money in a 'hot-zone', the stash discovered in kano is not surprising. Its not a secret in intelligence circles that Ukrainians, Nigerians, South Africans, Iranians, Lebanese and Americans are making a lot of money from the conflicts in and around Africa.

I opened this thread to voice my disappointment with ACN over this statement, only to read the write-up and realise that they do have genuine points.

In as much as I agree with the President's declaration of SOE in those 3 states, I also know that inappropriate use of force will only fuel the ranks of the rebels. A strategy to deny BH of willing recruits should be our long term goal. We need to start an Idealogical War against them; sponsor and protect Imams and Sheikhs who preach and fight against BH, empower the talakawas, al-majiris et. al and watch them destroy their good for nothing leaders.

Austria fought against Jihadis (Ottoman) when they wanted to take Islam to Italy.

Roman Catholic did not fight for Christians.

Politics / Re: The Problem Of Igbo Jews And History by gidiMonsta(m): 2:40pm On Apr 03, 2013
Here's a counter to Mr. Educator's post;

Rossikk: Here's some education for ''Mr no evidence''

In 1789 Olauda Equiano, an Igbo and former slave who lived in London said in his autobiography that the Igbos were one of the lost tribes of Israel and cited the many identical cultural similarities between them and the Jews.
Missionaries when they came to Nigeria were dumbfounded to discover when they came to evangelize the Igbo People that the Igbo's practiced many Hebraic/Jewish customs which they could not have learned from anyone else, it had to come from ancient practice of their people from antiquity; for they had no Bibles and met no one with a Bible until the missionaries came along.
They found that the Igbo's practiced:
- Eating of animals that meet the Biblically clean requirements as well as the complete draining of blood from the animal as well as other laws concerning Kashrut;

Igbos eat anything, infact they are the most 'non-kosher' of all West African tribes.

- The use of ritual washings like unto the mikvah; Yoruba Ifa priests use something similar.
- Washing of Hand before and after meals; Every sane human I know do this.
- Has a concept of clean and unclean, acceptable and abominable or taboo; Yorubas do too
- Animal sacrifice like unto the Levitical sacrificial system; Ogun priest's sacrifice dogs, Xhosa South Africans sacrifice goats
- Believe in a Supreme, All-Powerful Deity (Chukwu) above all other deities; Yorubas also have a Supreme being called Eledumare or Olorun.
- Circumcision on the 8th day as well as had the naming ceremony of the 8 day old child; So do the Yorubas even before Islam and Christianity
- Giving names that bear the name or title of G-d within it; N/A
- Separation of menstruating women; Menstruating women are not allowed to enter shrines or palace in yoruba land.
- Adah or Ada the name of the second woman mentioned in the Bible after Eve/Chavah (Gen. 4:19-20) and is also the title used to address the first born daughters of Igbo families; N/A
- The keeping a lunar calendar; Almost all african tribes do this.
- Shemita and Jubilee years: The annulment of debt and servitude every seven and fifty years; N/A
- Burying their dead facing East, the direction of Jerusalem and the Promised Land; East of Alaigbo is Cameroon not Jerusalem.
- Burying their dead as quickly as possible; This is normal considering they had no means of preservation. Now that they do, Igbos keep their dead for as long as possible.
- Sitting Shiva (seven day mourning period where one sits on low stools, remains unkempt and shave their head in grief); This is called 'OPO' in Yoruba Land.
- Belief in a resurrection; Yorubas call it 'Akudaya'
- Send the body's home of Igbos who die outside of Igboland to be buried, like Joseph and Jacob desiring not to be buried in a pagan or foreign land; Yorubas believe a man should be buried on his father's soil too.
- Lengthy funeral ceremonies such as found in Gen. 50:1-3; Nobody does this better than the Yorubas in the whole world!
- Preference of Inheritance and leadership was given to the first born and passed down through the fathers; Err...so does every African tribe I'm familiar with.
- Sung prior too and carried a type of Ark into battle when they went to war; I've never heard of the Igbos carrying any Ark-like thing to war.
- Hospitality like unto the traditions and legends know of Abraham Offering water, meal and lodging to travelers; Every Yoruba child is taught this from birth.
- Converse and deliberate among men and leaders like that of Rabbi's and students in a Yeshiva; As in every African culture. Patriachal!
- Levirate type marriages, brothers marrying deceased brothers wives to carry on the brothers name; It was practiced in some part of Yoruba land.
- Marriage negotiations (Onye-aka-ebe) between families, like unto the story of Isaac and Rebecca; As in every other African tribes.
- Polygamy; As in every other African tribes.
- A type of, "Cities of Refuge," where an Igbo who has committed a crime can seek refuge in his mother's natal home, known in Igbo as, "Ikunne";
- The concept of Sanctuary, similar to the Igbo Osu caste concept where a victim of violence may flee to the altar (alusi) for divine protection (I Kings 2:28-30); Osu caste system is not a sanctuary!!
- Shunning of those who willingly break Igbo laws; N/A
- Shunning of those who marry outside of the Igbo people; Tribalism!
- Laws against intimate perversion, Inbreeding and the like, they had to marry among their people but outside their immediate tribal clan; Like every sane society.
- Justice and punishment for certain crimes followed the lines of, "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth"; Like every other sane society
- A rule of Torah (Law) was developed and was passed down by Eri; So?
- No jails or penal system; N/A
- Rite of passage into adulthood; Yeah, and Spartans too!
- Governance of the people by a conglomerate of tribal elders and judges prior to the institution of kingship dynasties; Just like a 1000 other tribes.
- The coronation of the Kings have rituals and customs that closely remember that of the coronation of Kings of Judah and Israel; Baseless comparison.
- Symbolic attire and accessories of the Kings and Elders closely resembled that of Kings and Tribal leaders of Judah and Israel. Not even similar in any way.

These among many other Jewish laws and customs were found to be kept by the Igbo people and sadly, the Christian missionaries forced them to abandon many of these Hebraic practices because though they resembled Biblical worship of G-d, they believed many have been done away with due to the advent of Messiah and they believed they practiced these customs unto pagan gods and as such should be abandoned. The Igbo's are slowly beginning to return to the pre-missionary practices, desiring to return to their Hebraic roots.

Igbos really need to stop these Jewish jokes abeg, its becoming embarrassing.
