PoliticsRe: BUHARI's SUPREME MILITARY COUNCIL , Names And States Of Origin Of Members. by gists: 5:17pm On Oct 22, 2014
Longeria:
This is not the point Op is making here.

The question for you Janjaweeeeeds, is the ministers and governors members of SUPREME MILITARY COUNCIL?
He was the HOS with majority of members of the supreme military council from the northern. If he wanted to Islamize Nigeria, what better chance could he have had? If he did not do it when he was the HOS with majority northern members of supreme council is it now that in civilian dispensation with more southerners (christians) that he will islamize Nigeria?

Some people just refuses to use their brains or are just being deliberately mischievous. What was the population of the southerners in the military vs northerner? What was/ is the population of northerners generally vs southerners? Even today in 2014 under your corruption personified GEJ, don't we have more legislators from the north than the south? This is not an issue and infact, vindicates the man.

Permit me to post results from last Saturdays election in Buruku. Just thought I should post this here since non of you wanted to come to the thread that actually mattered.

Results of the just concluded election in Buruku. 18/10/2014
PDP 25,988
Labour Party 3,602
APC 395.

Elections are won in the real world not the internet.
Enjoy!!
You failed to mention the fact that APC score 395 vote without contesting the election:

The Independent Electoral Commission has declared Mr John Tiav of the Peoples Democratic Party, winner of the re-contested Buruku Federal Constituency seat in Benue.

In a re-election held on Saturday in Buruku, Tiav scored 25,988 votes to defeat Mr John Tine of the Labour Party, who scored 3,602.

Mr Sekav Iyortyom of the All Progressive Congress scored 395 votes.

Alhaji Baba Abba-Yusuf, Benue Resident Commissioner, Independent National Electoral Commission, who also served as the returning officer, said Tiav met all requirements of the Electoral Act to be declared winner.

Abba-Yusuf who announced the result on Sunday in Buruku, said that the PDP candidate scored the highest number of votes.

He said that 101,198 eligible voters registered for the election, but only 30,378 turned out for the exercise.

He also commended both the candidates and their supporters for their peaceful conduct throughout the period of the election.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the APC candidate withdrew from the contest a day to the election.

NAN reports that the Supreme Court had overturned the outcome of the first election conducted in 2011, and ordered for a fresh conduct, while excluding its previous winner, Mr Orker Jev of the APC.

An aspirant of the party, Mr Sekav Iyortyom, had challenged the outcome of the party’s primaries on the grounds that it was not won by Jev, who was declared winner by the party.

The aspirant had alleged that his name was fraudulently replaced with that of Jev, who later went to the House of Representatives to represent the constituency.

The court granted the prayers of Sekav and ordered for a fresh election.

Seun: Hello,

I'm working on a modification to our rules that will make it an offence to disrespect government officials and call them derogatory names on Nairaland. The objective is to prepare Nairaland for a time when the Nigerian Government may not be able to tolerate such things. Currently it's against our rules to deliberately insult a Nairaland member, so we will just be extending this rule to make it cover government officials too.

What are your comments on this? I promise to read all your comments, though I can't promise to reply all of them, of course.

Thanks!.
The downfall of nairaland will come with too many draconian rules. So many good contributors have already left nairaland because of the perceived childish nature of your forum. George Bush was not only insulted, he was stoned.
BTW, you can ban me again if you want but i will still tell you the truth. Know that just because you own a site, you can't just wake up and say people should not talk - which includes yabbing (or insults if you prefer that term). simply because your gej is on the receiving end. There are posts you have made on this forum in the past that you have said unpleasant things about others - like the comment you made on a 2007 thread that was someone resurrected about the death of GMB's wife (which you quickly deleted yesterday).

Yes I am waiting for it you can hand me a lifetime ban.

The blinds can see that we have never been this polarized before and the sad part is there doesn't seem to be an end in the near future with the despiration of this gov to cling to power by whatever means necessary. The onus is on us to put a stop to this nonsense. I as a person see a human being in the next person before seeing a muslim/christian/northerner/southerner. I refuse to be manipulated and used by some wicked politicians whose only interest is how to enrich themselves; embezzle the nations wealth; fly around in private jet while giving us locomotive trains; send their children to the best schools in the world so they can come and deride our children when they return.

PoliticsRe: Buhari/fashola Ticket: Opinion Of A SW Christian by gists: 5:25am On Oct 20, 2014
loco4love:
Just look at Yoruba politics. How many Christians have become governors in Yoruba states since 1998? Compare that to the number of muslims that have become governors.

Yorubaland is at least 60% Christian. Why are Christians not voting Christians into office? Have they being told to back down. Muslims seem to love the political power than the Christians.

Fashola is a bad leader. This is the same man who wanted to tax church donations but was stopped from carrying out the dastardly act.

Christians now feel inferior to muslims when they see muslims controlling things. Christians if you want to see Christian governors and officials in power vote for Christian candidates and don't vote for muslims.
fo0l!
Your religious politics is dead on arrival in SW and will most certainly work against you.
Since you know so much about politics of religion in SW can you pls tell us when was the last time a muslim governed Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti and Osun (before Aregbesola's proved that religion is not relevant in SW politics by winning a christian opposition in a predominantly christian state). People in SW don't even realize that these states have been predominantly governed by christians for decades because it doesn't matter to us. All we want is capable and performing leaders. That is why SW remains the only zone no party (except APC recently) can say it has it locked down. We sweep out mediocre govs at the earliest democratic chance. A typical example is the case of Oyo that has never returned a siting gov IRRESPECTIVE OF RELIGION.
BTW on a side note to those spreading the Pastor Bosun's message of Islamisation, Tinubu and Fashola are both muslims and both are married to practising christians. In fact Tinubu's wife was a close friend to Late Pastor Bimbo of blessed memory. Have you ever heard the wives were forcefully converted to islam? The truth is Islamisation will not happen in Nigeria, at least Not in South Wesst.
PoliticsRe: Ogun Govt.set To Construct #200billion Mega City - Amosun by gists: 8:06pm On Sep 27, 2014
haffaze777: Abeokuta – Gov. Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun on Friday
said the state government had concluded plans to
construct a mega city that would gulp over N200 billion
in the state.
Amosun made this known in Ewekoro area of Ewekoro
Local Government in continuation of his local
government assessment tour.
The governor said that the mega city would cut across
Obafemi Owode, Ifo and Ewekoro Local Government
Areas.
He said his ambition was to develop the state and
exploit all the resources the state was blessed with for
the benefit of the people.
The governor disclosed that when completed, the mega
city would be the best in Nigeria and in Africa.
He added that the Presidency had approved the
construction of the abandoned airport at Alamala area
of the state.
Amosun said it had been his agenda to complete the
airport since his first day in office, saying it was not a
crime for Lagos State to have an airport and Ogun
having its own.
He said that work on perimetre fencing was ongoing at
the proposed site of the airport, adding that serious
work would start very soon.
The governor said that the airport would be of
international standard, bigger and better than the
proposed cargo airport and Murtala Mohammed
International Airport in Lagos.
Amosun promised the people that he would construct
Owo to Pere road and Itori township road in the local
government.
The governor, who promised that Ewekoro council
would experience more industrial presence, assured the
area of more roads.
He, however, advised the people to be law abiding and
avoid being used by politicians to perpetrate evil.
(NAN)
Ogun state (my state) have slept for far too long. Thank God things are changing. There is absolutely no reason for Ogun state to be where she is today giving the close proximity to Lagos. Good to know that the state now have a government that is putting things in place. My main hope and prayer for Ogun is to finally erase the state boundary line between herself and Lagos so she can absorb/attract many companies & institutions to herself and eventually get out of the league of civil service states. This will also be beneficial to Lagos in terms of congestion and over population.

If nothing else counts, the mere fact that Nigeria now have a formidable alternative political party (today, pdp is jittery because election is not going to be business as usual) courtesy BAT is something we should appreciate him for. I am not the biggest fan of BAT, but I have a whole lot of respect for the man inspite of his short coming (like there is anybody who's perfect).

MizStarBrains: He rebased our national GDP to make it the largest in Africa. That is a great achievement. If you think it's not a great achievement, go and ask China what it feels like being the second largest economy in the world. If you think it's not an achievement, go to South Africa and ask them how they feel having lost the "largest economy in Africa" title to Nigeria.

You are free to hate, but when you hate don't hate blindly.
Someone had asked this question before and I am yet to see any TANians provide answer. I am hoping you can help.
It is said that the rebasing took into account some sectors of the economy which were not previously factored in; namely telecoms and entertainment (nollywood) sectors. The question is what policy did this administration put in place to boost these sectors. In other words, what roles did this administration play in these sectors to make it grow big enough to push our economy to #1?

MizStarBrains: If you think it's not an achievement, go to South Africa and ask them how they feel having lost the "largest economy in Africa" title to Nigeria.
In reality, I read somewhere (unfortunately I don't remember) the South African are actually HAPPY our economy is now "bigger" (bigger in qoute). They are HOPING and PRAYING Nigerians will finally leave their country (SA) since we are now #1 grin grin grin

PoliticsRe: Fg Wants American Security Forces Out Of Nigeria. by gists: 12:46pm On Sep 21, 2014
There is a silver lining here. I am tempted to say this is a very good news -from two points of view. Finally, uncle Jonathan nailed his own coffin. Which country in its right sense will deliberately want to make the US an enemy?
While I want the US out of the country because they don't mean well for us (they don't mean well for country sef because as they always say their actions and inactions are always geared towards protecting american interest - period!) I am especially happy its this useless gov that's going to cause a rift between US and Nigeria. That way you can be sure of int'l sabotage working against Jonathan in the coming elections. Most presidential elections in the world today has some elements of US involvement. The int'l observers who looked away from the gross malpractices during the last elections are still very much loyal to US. I can bet this time around, the observers will demonise gej for the slightest of rigging (which pdp cannot do without)
Carry on jona, make the US your enemy and push'em out to our benefit and to your doom grin grin grin
PoliticsRe: Apc's Islamic Agenda And The Synagogue Collapse by gists: 2:23pm On Sep 20, 2014
wesley80: Spare me the bull crap and direct your abuse to your fundamentalist pathetic self. if you were literate enough to read you'd know the article is only calling for a thorough investigation and berating the LASG for their disposition, but how's a foool supposed to know that?
OP, I want to believe you are an educated person so please don't fall my hand with your religious/harry potter hocus pocus view point with your answer to this question: How on earth is it possible for a plane to make a building collapse completely without having any physical contact with the building or is it a spiritual plane? Keep in mind that the said plane looked so small in the picture that it can enter the collapsed building through the window (but maybe it is just the camera angle or the plane was just quite some distance away)

I will like to be corrected, but this is my view/opinion: The building collapsed due to overload on the supporting beams and/or columns. Even if there was a plane hovering the building, the mere fact that the presence of a nearby flying object can cause enough resonance/vibration in the structure and make it collapse leaves much to be desired about the integrity of the building. We have seen countless instances of planes and helicopters flying across buildings/stadia (at the olympics, premiership matches and other televised world events) without any issue what-so-ever.
It is only in this country that people make excuses for their leaders they should be held accountable for their actions/inaction.
I asked before and I will ask again: How come there is no collapse building in Ikeja with the two busiest airports in Nigeria?
PoliticsRe: Apc's Islamic Agenda And The Synagogue Collapse by gists: 10:15am On Sep 20, 2014
As an educated person, I am not convince that a plane can bring down a building without any kind of contact with the building. It will be understandable if the plane had crashed into the building, in which case we will see debris at the scene. How come all the houses/structures are still standing in Ikeja where the two busiest airports in the country are located with tens if not hundreds of planes take off and land daily? How come this is the only building in Ikotun that collapsed as a result of the plane?
And to link this to APC is just ridiculous to say the least.
PoliticsRe: FG Announces N213bn Intervention Funds For Electricity Companies by gists: 7:34am On Sep 20, 2014
EmoBoy: Nigerians will always criticise what they don't understand. There is something called credit enhancement in infrastructure finance. Most foreign investors won't invest in naija because of the risks involved. For example the market risk - The electricity tariffs were too low but the government increased them. Also, Nigerians don't like to pay for anything, so the government promised them they'll repay any shortfall in revenues as a result of the market risk. Its even better here because the money will be repaid to the govt by the companies after they start making a profit in the long run. So let's not criticize what we don't understand.
Have we not done enough harm to ourselves with this endless and senseless excuses we make for this corrupt government? Were there no assessments done on the financial health/capacities on these companies? Have you asked yourself what intervention was given to the telecoms companies that had ZERO infrastructure on the ground when they came to this country? These guys inherited assets worth billions (you can argue the assets are not in good shape), they invested next to nothing towards improving the situation but started reaping profit from day 1 by imposing tariff increment on us. Yet we got no increase in quality of service. Now they silly gov come up again with cock and bull story of intervention, to make matters worse we are supposed to bear the cost through another round of increase tariffs. What is the guarantee there will be any sort of improvement after the tariff increment.

BTW where are those propagandist that claim they have constant power?

I have said it before and I will repeat it again - gej is not the problem of Nigeria. he is just a silly clueless (now shoefull) corrupt a55hole. The real problem we have is ourselves. Because we deliberately vote for mediocrity even after seeing no evidence of good track records for people we vote for. And when they begin to display their corrupt nature with senseless actions that impoverishes us more, we make excuses for them so they emboldened and take even more actions against us.

Give the Nigerian Army the right military hardware and they will get the job done. At least, BH that Cameroon dealt with is not in the league of those that will make NA lose sleep. If not for the corrupt good-for-nothing generals/politicians feeding fat on the anarchy and on the blood of brave soldiers, BH would have been long forgotten. Finally, somebody is going what s/he should have done a long time which would have prevented so many unnecessary loss of innocent lives.

My only worry now is the bh leader that was captured will probably be summarily executed just like Yusuf to prevent him from "spilling more beans."

2n2k: I agree with you totally. I mean, what is the essence of using private 'fronts' when the government will still come out to claim responsibility. Why not use presidential jet and our diplomats that have immunity to do it ab-initio.
In 1984, FG under buhari engineered the abduction of umaru dikko in the street of London in broad daylight using private Nigerians and Isrealis as well as Nigeria Airways plane. Even though Britain was sure of the FG's involvement, FG refused to admit and Britain could only jail the abductors. Nigeria even claimed higher diplomatic ground by recalling its ambassador and sent packing British own.
Muscomide: That is the kind of purposeful leadership one can expect under a Buhari presidency. Not this corrupt, inept and clueless one.
But some pholls will not agree with you guys. They have been too blinded by religious sentiments.
Which gov in the world carry this amount of cash in civilian private jet for the purpose of legally buying equipment for the fg?

Have you asked yourself how come the Nigerian army have not been able to wipe out bh (a supposedly northern muslim tool) when our president is a christian and many other heads of our topmost security outfits i.e Military and DSS. How come they have not been able to use the country's vast military resources to wipe out bh (according to you and your ilks a northern muslim tool of terror). Let me ask you have you ever heard of Israel taking such huge amount of cash (in a private jet) to buy black market military hardware in other to fight Hamas? Or any other country for that matter?
We have had christian presidents in this country but our security has never been this bad and hatred for one another has never been this pronounced/obvious.
