Obiagelli: i think power supply is usually high during the rainy season when the hydro dams are full while its usually very poor in the dry season.Maybe not a completely valid observation on my part - I also think in addition to the hide tide, a lot of people use less electricity. My guess is a lot of people don't have to use their A/Cs in the house as the weather is pretty cold during this period. With less power demand, there is appears to be more power. But I am still typing this post from the power stored in my inverter battery ![]() Nationwide Electricity Peaks At 4500MW As Brazilian Firm Builds 700mw PlantThis propaganda will not work for many of us. The question I have been asking increased power propagandist is: What was the amount of power generated before the scam privatisation? The least power we have recorded so far was about 2000MW over a decade ago when we had a national grid collapse. Other than that power generation is this country has ALWAYS BEEN AROUND 3000 to 4000MW (+ or -). So I ask again, where is the improvement? Again I urge pro more power people to refute this fact that the amount of total power in the country as at today is still within the band it has always been. 4500MW is not an improvement. Let us know when we acheive 6000MW only then can we talk of improvement. |
fr3do: These bh people don't stick together, their tailor (if any) might not be in the vicinity where they intend to strike, and if they are caught travelling with regalia, they will be arrested. This argument does not hold air let alone water. If BH can import guns and can transport guns and bombs around the country, is it catholic clothes they cannot import (assuming they don't have the expertise to sew it locally) and transportation of religious clothes or any clothes for that matter hasn't been banned in the country. Sad, common sense is not that common after all - especially on nairaland ![]() |
Ogar should just cover her head in shame and return to her village if she cannot name a single sponsor of BH but SOOO effective in DETECTING that BH went to market to steal dresses ![]() |
When OBJ increased fuel prices on the grounds that the persistent fuel shortages was due to the fact that it was being smuggled to neighbouring countries, I asked why his administration was abusing our intelligence. What is the population of all the neighbouring countries that will consume all the fuel needs of Nigerian that led to such acute shortages? How many heave oil dependent manufacturing industries do they have that made then consumed all our oil? Were they using it to bathe or drink? I see a semblance of the same abuse of intelligence here: For me security tips should be taken seriously by all BUT only when it does not abuse our intelligence. Does Ogar mean terrorist that can afford military hardwares (guns, bombs etc that are bought in hard currencies) and sophisticated enough to counter the Nigerian army cannot sew or even import catholic dresses? The terrorist will rather go to Kano market to steal atires? While I will not say it is completely false that the theft did not occur, attributing it to BH points again to the fact that this administration continuously use religion to divide this country just to stay in power. Why link a terrorist group that has armour tanks among other military hardwares and sponsored by billionaires among the top echelon political elits to the theft of catholic dresses in Kano market if not to create religious divide?? ![]() I stand to be corrected and highly welcome a counter intelligent arguments from pro Ogar group |
Russia is bigger than US in terms of landmass but like someone pointed out far too fewer cities, making it easy for the US to decide which prime cities to target. But the main challenge russia has in my opinion is funding. War is EXPENSIVE (both in human and financial/material resources) US is FAAARRR TOO RICH & HAS TOO MANY ALLIES to fight alone by Russia who does not seem to have too many friends on her side and obviously not that rich. Much as I am not so much in support or against the US, I think the Obama administration is just being cautious with Russia. For a conventional war, the US has ALL the resources (millitary, economic, propaganda machines CNN et al, friends/ally etc) to beat the russians many time over even though it will not be a complete work-over. But the problem is we all know this is not going to be a conventional war. When it comes to US vs Russia with Nuclears warheads stockpiled by both countries, its certainly going to be a MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction). So yes, the US will beat Russia - but the question is AT WHAT COST? That is why I think (just my opinion) the Obama gov. is being cautious. |
deeobserver209: Intresting. So in your view Militants = Terrorist huh? OK. So tell us, when was the last time Niger delta militants bomb places of worship? My friend, the point is not in the motive/reason/method/scene of the crime but in the end result. So are you saying it is acceptable kidnap oil workers' children? Are you saying it is acceptable to bomb eagle square on independance day? Are you saying it is ok to bomb people to pieces as long as they are not bombed in their place of worship and that all these do not count as act of terrorism? So if you kill people in tens outside their places of worship then you should not be tagged terrorists - right? The point is as long as your activity kills innocent people, then its an act of terror and you are a terrorist. |
iluvnaija: An American doctor says, "Medicine in my country is so advanced that we can take a kidney out of one man, put it in another and have him looking for work in six weeks!"CLAAASSSSIIIICCC But ol boy U bad gannnn. |
Sincere9gerian: I am not in the mood for any back and forth debate with an ignoramus. I am saddened by this report already. A nurse shouldn't be sending a suspected ebola case away. It is unethical, criminal, unprofessional, wicked, atrocious and counterproductive. I'm out of this thread. For once I am tempted to agree with you. If the story is true, imagine: 1) how many people would/could have been injured in the stampede 2) how many people the patience would/could have infected before she got to the isolation center -if she makes it there. she is an extremely dangerous timebomb that should have been isolated in the clinic and the nurse should have called the lagos state isolation center to come take her |
yehmi01: Well from what I said, I did not post any comment on any site not even a talk of this was mentioned to any one by me. But after seeing this ultimatum given to Jonathan what other strategy can they use as a good reason.I have always said this and thank God I am not alone in this line of thinking. Too many red flags: First is the killing of the school boys that went on for hours without any resistance from the army. It was even said that attack took place minutes after the army left the neighbourhood. Also the fact that hundreds of girls were kidnapped in a state with partial military rule (where there are checkpoints almost every km) triggers the red flag. Then we have the case of under-funding and under-equipping the army to the extent that the military guys had to protest - mutiny!! Finally, I concluded this is all about politics & 2015 because not one financier have been arrested. How do you fight terror without cutting its source of fund? The list of signs is endless for those not beclouded by ethnic/religious sentiments. I am not in any way suggesting the northern elites are innocent (in fact my gut feeling is that they know more than they're trying to make us believe), but for God's sake we have a government whose pry responsibility is to protect lives why do some people keep asking the imams and emirs (who don't have control over the police station in their streets) to put an end to BH and keep making excuses for GEJ? Is it too much to ask this administration to take a cue from israel/russia/us/cameroon and other responsible government and take decisive action against an enemy of the state? |
stevecantrell: America, arming future terrorists since 1914Correct! but in this case, it is to everybody's interest that isis be stopped. You don't want another round US boots on the ground - not with the unending series of human right allegations against them in recent operations in iraq and afganistan. Equip the locals and support them from the sky with air strikes for the interest of the minority groups who are at risk. Also I support Obama totally on this, why risk another round of american lives over what the locals can be trained and equipped to handle with proper support, equipment and funding? |
egift: PDP throwing money here and there to incite anarchy, is a wasted efforts. Nigerians are united to overcome the failure that has held it down for a decade and a half.Exactly my thoughts! 2015 is so near, I encourage PDP to keep throwing the money away. |
Alexsmith20: I dont know why most nigerians are so naive/ignorant to the core...any little fault that should be handled by your local authorities you put it on the president. The president has played his own part in the development, its up to the indeginious authories responsible to carry-out that function...you dont expect the president to start inspecting them personally.See this ignoramus here! We are saying national power generation has remained what it has always been (between 3000 & 4000MW) inspite of the increase in tariff and this mumu is saying local authority should handle it. The people have come on national television (NTA not TVC) to say they have funding problem - a perfect excuse/pretext to increase tariff again and probably no commensurate increase in QoS just as we have experienced so far. If it was a local technical issue why come on national TV? why not stay on LTV lagos,OGBC, RSTV, Orient TV etc. Why are people in PHC, Lagos, Edo and other parts of the country complaining. Their complains is in tandem with funding problem those that accuired PHCN are saying. They came to NTA announced they have funding problem preventing them from generating enough for the nation and this mumu disciple is still making excuses. If the privatisation was not a fraud and if it done in good fate would this not have been discovered much earlier? |
stanech: Tell me how the government can fight terror when many nothern muslims support them. Some even see them as freedom fighters and all that. The same way Buhari (I know that name sends shivers down your spine) dealt with a similar terror group during his regime. He did not ask people to condemn the group. He rolled up his sleeve just like Cameroon did to same BH without asking for condemnation. Now the big one: Have you ever asked yourself the importance of cutting the source of funds for terror groups? Have you asked yourself with all the arrests made no significant big fish has been arrested for funding BH. OR is it the northern people that says this administration should not arrest BH's sponsors. Gov. Amechi said BH boys are only shooting and detornating bombs because someone is paying them. Arrest the sponsors and more than half of the problem is solved. The foot soldiers can easily be dealt with without funds. You know the truth but you are your folks keep playing ethnic/religious victim card asking the emirs (who doesn't control the police station in his local government) to internevene. You then turn around and blame muslims/northerns/islam for not stopping BH. stanech: Israel has not done half of what ISIS is doing in Iraq but the world has turned a deaf ear. Many christians are being killed as we speak no one is crying foul play.Again I am amused - I really am. As at the last count over 1900 people have died in palestine more than 400 of those are children yet you claim israel has not done half of what isis has done. I'll like to see that fact or forever remain quiet. ISIS kills indescrimitately but their pry aim is to create a nation from that region and I repeat they are an enemy to the iraqi, syrian, jordan (all muslim nations). But that is not even the point. The whole point I am making is "call a spade a spade". Everybody knows ISIS is a terror group and has been label as such. Same goes for BH. I have criticise Hamas for the rocket. BUT WHY ON EARTH WILL ANYBODY REMAIN ON THE POINT THAT KILLING OVER 1900 palestinians (muslims and yes christian palestiians) IS JUSTIFIED. In your word, israel has not done half of what isis is doing even when the whole world has causioned Israel. You are very much confortable with hamas, isis, bh, asad being blamed but once anyone dares to even caution israel, nigerain xtians are quick to justify UNDEFENDABLE ACT (even on occasions when israel tenders apologies for Wwhat it calls military errors). stanech: It is still the same US (hated by the muslim world) that is taking it upon itself to control the situation.Again you goofed. WHere did you get the idea that the muslim world hate the US? nairaland xtians particularly from across the niger with there hatred syndrome. Why are the palestinians suffering today if not for the muslim world that is so much trying to parley with US which makes them look the other way. No country on earth today (not even the Russians the second strongest army in the world) can attack Saudi, Kwait, Qatar, UAE, Oman? The reason is not because of the military might of these arab countries but because of their DEEP ties with US. So deep is their ties with the US that they even neglect there own brothers in palestine. So deep is there ties that it is said that (but can't confirm this) during the grounding of all airplanes in US following 911, Saudi Royals were still allowed to take off and land! So while yes there are muslims just as there are christians in Russia, venezuela, cubs whose does not see US in good light, it is not correct to say the entire muslim world hate US. stanech: I say it again muslim or islam is not a true religion because it seems to dominate and force others to follow its laws. Have you ever ask yourself why muslim law (sharia) is practised in muslim countries and christian laws not practised in christian dominated countries?Yeah, in your infinite wisdom the crusade, world war I and 2 were caused by muslims, the Rwanda genocide was islamically motivated. Genocide of Bosnia on muslims was done by muslims. That terrorist in Oslo had a muslim and of course the plain that was shot down in Ukrain was inspired by Quran. All hail the all-wise. stanech: Christianity separates religion from politics allow everyone to choose their mode of worship provided it doesn't affect others negatively. Chinas may religion is Buddhism, India hinduism, italy christianity but they still tolerate other religion among them. so why does Islam force everyone to worship their mohammed and see anyone wh doesn't worship allah as an infidel? You never seems to amuse me. Tell separation of religion and politics to the CAN president. Also, this myth has gone on for ages and I am yet to see anybody that proves this myth and I will be glad if you can provide evidence to counter what I am about to say: Apart from the Copts in Egypt, there are a number of other native christians in the middle (like Maronites in Lebanon) who have been christians probably before Islam and are still christians till date. They are still very much around today in various arab countries. The copts particularly actively took part in the Egypt revolution. So if by your accertion and the popular myth islam/muslim nations forces christians to convert, how come they still exists till today as christian. That is essentially what ISIS is trying to achieve making the areb countires call on the US for help. Yet you are here saying this. For the records, I care less about the fact that some countries choses to be secular and other choses to adopt a religious nation status. What is important is people are able to worship whatever God they believe in in any country as it is with the copts and co (even if it is in there homes). I will not blame Saudi Arabia for not allowing churches in open places. If anybody is not happy with the vatican for not allowing mosques in the public, such a person can go and hug transformer. It is their choice and so be it. enough said peace! |
hazyfm: @Gist: Please i just bought a 2.4kva mercury inverter, where do you suggest I buy good affordable batteries 12V and amount plsI don't leave in Lagos so I don't remember the name of the store. But I bought 2 units 12v luminous batteries in computer village ikeja (brand new about #47 each) for my mom house in January 2013. As I said I don't remember the store name any more but the store is on the second street off the main Otigba. Sorry I'm of little help |
CastleandGreen: you are indeed a son of an harlot.Your father!! Why did you have to attack me for saying I type from my inverter? Product of a leaking condom. |
acenazt: man you are wrong about power. In my Area and most of Kaduna city,we get up to 22 hours of power a day.Mehn as of today, the total generation capacity remains about what it has always been! I don't know about kaduna, but there is just one thing I need to know how long light have been available in my absence while I'm at work: I just simply check my freezer to see how cool it is. just like any deep freezer it never lies (wify can't even buy bulk food stuff to freeze). The other day I heard on the news the challenges the new electricity owners are facing that's preventing them from generation enough power. So the fact on the ground is this: my freezer says no light in my absence, I confirm no light when I get home, electricity company says on NTA news they lack fund to generate more electricity (and are likely to increase tariff). DISCO says they cannot distribute power that's not available. Boy, I'm sorry o I'm not convinced. Until any two of those parameters I listed change, phcn privatisation remains a scam. |
stanech: Why will the children be in school in the first place when bombs are dropping on them..?You fail to realise that schools & hospitals are places they run to to seel refuge hoping it will be spared by air strikes. Who told you they were in class learning when bombs landed on them. They were simply seeking refuge in a place that should not have been harmed by a sane idf. After people are confronted by irrutable facts and confronted about the attrocities of Israel in Gaza, they usually resort hiding behind this hypocracy tactics and asking why are nigerian muslims more interested in international religious issues and we are less concerned about the attrocities of some anti-islamic groups that calls themselve muslims commit at home. Some of us are used this face-saving reverse gear motion and are not surprised. But sometime I wonder why people will just prefer to display their ignorance on the internet. I mean this record will be there for life (barring any data loss). The fact that people make forum posts mean they have access to the internet which by extension mean you have access to google. But it amazes me when supposedly educated people ignorantly asserted that Nigerian muslims kept mute when terror atrocities were meted on non-muslims by so called jihadists. Let us even assume you didn't get the opportunity to see the condemnation on the news or read the newspaper releases what about the ones that are permanently available on the internet which a simple google search would have generously made available. There have been countless statement of condemnations by nigeria muslim community against such henious crimes in the past and even at the on going national conference. Even the sultan of sokoto added his voice - so also did the muslim community in south west. In the 2011 election violence, there was a popular story of a northern muslim guy that risked his life to save some people (compared to a certain punk-headed religious leader in this country that calls its members to carry arms). Yet someone still ask in 2014 with all the resources available where have muslims been. Of course I know all these is never enough because it was just a handful of muslim groups and elders that voiced their condemnations. Until every muslim come out to condemn some people will not be pacified. However, having said that I personally don't subscribe to the idea of calling any sect or group (religious or ethnic) to condemn an act of terror. That's because as far as I am concerned it just plain irresponsible. What responsible government world-over does is to roll up their sleeves go after the terror group and deploy the full military action against them and back it up by making it economically unattractive for others who may be considering joining such groups. Can you imagine US asking Saudi and the muslim world to condemn the terror activities of Osama or in the present case imagine Israel calling Egypt and other arab countries to call hamas to order. Every responsible government will roll up their sleeves and go after the terror group. But no, in our case we criticise the muslim community for not calling on the terrorist to stop as if that's going to change anything. If cameroon can deal with BH on their side, how come Nigerian army can't do the same? We prefer to look for excuses for the government that have the control of the security agencies who prefers to deploy troops to election polling centers instead of the terrorists in Sambisa. That amounts to treating ringworm while leaving leprosy as we say in south west (yes to those that may be surprised, I am Yoruba man not a northerner as some have again erroneously concluded). |
We should be careful and properly evaluate of the implications of the policies we support. Is it true that chieftains of APC were arrested in the wake of the last election? Is it also true that only chieftains and agents of APC were arrested and not even 1 agent of any other party was arrested? if these two allegations were true, then I dare conclude that the motive behind the heavy military presence in Osun was not ensure a free and fare election and in fact it is to ensure the exact opposite. I read Aregbe's victory speech and he made some points that suggest unusal voting trend in Ife axis. So with all the security agents deployed, the election was free but not fare afterall. Also, how come the same level of security not provided in Anambra election where pro pdp candidate was favoured to win and actually won among many alleged irregularities? In as much as I will not call for total withdrawal of security personnel during election, I do not subscribe to a situation where security agents will be used to hunt down opposition parties in states where the ruling party is guaranteed to loose. Like someone noted, we cannot afford this amount of military presence across the 36 states next year. So what will probably happen is we have an unusually high number of security agent to hunt opposition parties in south west and other anti pdp states while there will be normal security level in other pro pdp states. |
Yeah! just like we were promised 247 power after PHCN is sold to Lesson learnt so far: When Goodluck Ebola Jonathan promises you something, just get yourself an alternative option. I type this post using electricity from my 2.5kVA inverter. |
emmydeep: You mean your Olokun goddess or Allah?Phools like you fail to realise that religion does not really have much power when it comes to election in South West. How else can you explain this your unfounded and extremely dumb thinking when Aregbe a FULL BLOWN MUSLIM even by appearance win CLEARLY and HANDS-DOWN in a CHRISTIAN DOMINATED STATE Yes I dare say Osun is largely a christian state and I'll liked to be proven wrong. Are you saying the christians that voted for APC in Osun doesn't know what is good for them and that it is you know what is good for them? Are saying the Christians in Osun whose children are affected by the school reclassification programme are naive and they don't realise the Aregbe want to Islamise Osun by bringing al majiri schools and that it is only you - the all-wise; the all-knowing that can see through the scheme, everyone else is dumb abi? And you better provide the list of the al majiri schools or forever keep quite. This is my exact problem with NAIRALAND xtians. Most Nigerian christians I meet everyday are not like this. It is only on nairaland that these scums keep poping up. |
cjrane: Crap!phool!! Where in my post or even in my profile did I ever support/defend BH or ISIS (a terror group that according to some conspiracy theorist is sponsored by zionist movement). DON'T YOU EVER IN YOUR LIFE EVER QUOTE ME AGAIN IF YOU ARE UNCAPABLE OF RATIONAL/UNBIASED THINKING. I made it categorically clear that ISIS is being dealt with by the US air strike and that it is even an enemy to a number of arab countries. The last time I tuned to CNN, Obama was on the phone with King Abullah on how to curb ISIS advancements in a bid to save some minority group targeted by ISIS. I guess my crime now is that I dared to say that "The terror of ISIS in Iraq et al has absolutely nothing to do with HAMAS and ISRAEL". But in your hitler incarnate mind, the massacre in gaza is justified because of ISIS terror activities even though ISIS is also threat to those Islamic nations. I also made it clear that Hamas has no right to fire rockets into Israel and not only did I called it a crime, I also said it must stop before peace can return. Obviously, me calling Hamas's rocket firing into israel a crime is not enough for you until I call on idf to exterminate them because in your wrapped anti-islam mind the palestinians are not humans and they don't deserve to live -right? It is either the laziness in you did not let you even read my post/check my profile or the usual Nigerian nairaland xtian mentality of any anti-israel statement is evil no matter how just the statement is. If you care to know, the US herself (the sole financier and supporter of Israel) has on several occasions cautioned israel for her excesses even in this current conflict while evil men like you are here trying to justify what CNN called an UNDEFENDABLE ACTION. |
bloodyassassin: And you call this what?ISIS is already been dealt with by the US air strikes. ISIS is an enemy to many (even arab nations) countries in that region trying to carve out an Islamic state from Iraq, Syria etc. The terror of ISIS in Iraq et al has absolutely nothing to do with HAMAS and ISRAEL. Hamas has absolutely every right to demand for stoppage of Israeli occupation, blockade of Int'l aide by Israel and a halt to increasing Israel's construction on their land. BUT it does not have any right what-so-ever to fire rockets into Israel. May be its a desperate move out of frustration but it is a crime nonetheless and must be condemned. For there to be a lasting peace, one of the conditions must be that the rockets must stop. Israel has absolutely every right to protect itself and her citizen. But it does not have the right to commit mass murder. How do you explain firing at UN building with children inside? If the building was harbouring hamas's rockets wouldn't UN have known? The UN (which is essentially US - the prime supporter and financier of Israel) would have come out with concrete evidence to nail hamas if this was true. But they have not come to support that claim. How do you explain taking six young men into a bathroom and killing them in cold bold? Unfortunately for those thinking Israel will face war crime, this is unlikely to happen as long as US remains world power (The amount of financial/military aide US give to Israel alone is more that what comes to the whole of Africa combined). The problem with most of Nigerian xtians is that they support any Israeli action no matter how cruel/gruesome it may be even when Israel itself admits to such terror (like it happened in the last conflict when score of children were killed in a school by IDF air strike and Israel herself apologized) - It was just Nigerian chirstians in the whole world that still went ahead to justify the action. |
Dudu_Negro: when boko want to get you they approach directly. the same people that used indirect tactics of kidnapping her mother are behind this one. ......but wait....this was designed as a message and not as a weapon.tot i am d only one with dis line of tots. |
PointB: I think you should take a look at yourself too, obviously to you only South Westerners and Hausa are competent enough abi? Yet you call other people bigotsWhere did you see me put a list of soley south westerners as the only credible candidates? Its 8:04am you shouldn't be slumbering by this time. |
alj harem: dude who cares whether they are igbos or not. Your emphasis on only Igbo candidates is so annoying makes one wonder what is wrong with you. Fashola/Shekarau would do, I don't mind Rochas/ Fashola as well.Ameachi is also marketable to me (and I would think to many Nigerians as well) |
PointB: Why would I vote for Fashola when I could easily vote for Rochas, Chime, Peter Obi, Pat Utomi, Okonjo Iweala, Soludo or even Ameachi paired with Ribadu? In which way is Fashola/Tinubu/Shekarau better than any of these aforementioned folks? Or simply because of the media hypes? Or is there any rule that suggest that only Hausa and Yorubas should be continually voted into power?Just take a look at the list you put up there youself. Obviously to you only south easterners are competent enough abi? Yet you call other people bigots ![]() |
joey4jo: He doesn't want to be sacked but wants to sack people. Hmm.. How nigerialyYou see your life? See how hatred/sentiment has clouded your sense of rational reasoning. |
trix!:E.g NNPC. Thousands of employess yet refineries are barely working and managers/directors keep celebrating decades of active service. |
Tamita: “At the moment, 70 per cent of Federal Government’s revenue goes for payment of salaries and entitlement of civil servants, leaving 30 per cent for development of 167 million Nigerians. That means that for every naira government earns, 70 kobo is consumed by civil servants,”I agree completely with Sanusi on this statement because lets face it most of us will not spend 70% of our salaries on recurrent expenditure, so why should Nigeria? However, workers salaries I dare say is infinitesimal compared to the sums wasted in over-blotted government and their aides. Sanusi should be bold enough to tell FG (and also applies to all the state govs.) to cut-down the waste by trimming the size of the cabinet, then we can take it from there. |
Right now, I am more concerned about security of lives. I believe we can wait for a sincere gov to give us electricity but we cannot afford to keep losing Nigerians (jejely worshiping) week-in-week-out to bomb blasts? You may think you are safe because you are in the south. Just remember the kidnapping trend started with expatriates as their victims till it became free for all. May all the various versions BHs (original, pdp, criminal groups et al) die by the bomb. |
