This question is a non-issue. The opinion of the northern muslim about their southern counterpart is immaterial. I have asked this question b4 and I'll ask again since no one has answered. Since when did the northern muslims became the standard by which other muslims must be measured against? Should the Ghanaian muslims and other muslims around the world lose sleep simply because their northern nigerian brothers consider them as inferior? As far as I am concerned their opinion is inconsequential as we do no pray to them nor to any human for that matter. So, this topic should be dropped as like I said its a non issue. But of course you are free to debate it for as long as you want if its going to make you feel better. Just remember whatever your conclusions are remains your opinion and it does not mean anything to anybody. Hmmm so the northern muslims thinks I'm a fake muslim -SO, BIG DEAL ABI? |
Some comments here are somehow insulting to us the Yoruba muslims. Or should I say some comments here are not quite well thought out. Can I ask since when has the northern muslims been the yardstick to measure a true muslim? Must any muslim in the world meet the standard of to the northern muslims? In other words the Cameroonian, Ghanaian, South African, Brithish, Serbian muslims must all be fake muslims because they don't measure up to the northern nigerian standard. They all should also hide their heads in shame simply because the same perfect northern muslims don't consider them as true muslim. Personally, the opinion of the northern muslim about yourba is inconsiquential because they (the northern muslims) are not the model. But then you can't say all muslim from northern origin are violent can you? |
helpee:Did GEJ discussed this with you or were you (or your source) evesdropping on the private telephone conversation? Except if you be winch how you take hear? |
Nchara link=topic=833109.msg9839587#msg9839587:Wow you amazes me!! So the Nigerian gov has now been accepted to be incompetent yet you want local hausa imams to the job which the Nigerian intelligence can't do. So we should beg them to put an end to this or jail them if they don't right?? Why didn't the U.S you gave as example approach the arab world to do the job for them since the terrorists have sponsors and all those insurmountable obstacles. Why did the U.S authorities rolled up its sleeves and smoked them out? What do we do if we put our hopes on these your northern leader saviours' hands and they disappoint. Should we all leave the country since you have concluded that Nigerian gov cannot solve this? Pharoh link=topic=833109.msg9839987#msg9839987:Just in case you didn't know, the arabs used social networking sites (more like what NL is turning to now). And by the way, may I ask what are you also doing here. You should also be on the street either demonstrating against BH or GEJ. |
I've not been following the BH's targets to the latter, but i don't recollect BH ever bombing any educational institution. So your singling out Atiku's university is of little meaning to me. I am personally not a fan of Atiku. He may or may not be a sponsor as you are trying to imply just because his university is untouched is unprovable. I think BH (both then and now) has always been majorly political with religious colouration. |
oyb:Not so sure if the people have learnt the lesson from the kind of comments I read by die-hard gej fans. Personally I'm looking toward 2019 (2015 is not likely to be different but I hope I'm wrong) maybe by then our children will be wiser. As for GEJ not much in my opinion as there are no credible alternatives in the scene. We have made the error, so we have to leave with it. |
Nchara:Why should I thank you if your condemnations have not yielded any result? The one man that can stop these terrorists is the president who sadly seems to be interested only in removing fuel subsidy, while the budget for aso rock hit billions. You should join forces with those calling our leaders to take action. Condemning BH's aaction is not bad, but that is not good enof - its not what we need. We need actions not just pray, waiting and hoping they get tired bull-shyte |
Nchara:You contibute to the killing by castgating those courageous enof to tell the truth. You'll rather have a faceless oyb (who probably is not even a northerner) to condemn BH and expect the criminals to stop killing. Keep waiting to see how far they will go rather than joining your voice to compel your clueless fisherman to take action. Meanwhile I'll advice you stay away from the new year service in your church - no thanks to clueless gej |
Well what can I say? May be its the northern cabal and Buhari that are trying to discredit our very "ïn-creditable", uninspiring GEJ like beaf/pointB will want to make us belief. I'm sure they put those words in his mouth I said it when people blindly rejoiced when he won that naija is like a sinking ship. Nigerians thank you for voting GEJ and not PDP all we have to do now is to live with BH and not bombs. Thank God gej is a xtian because if he was a muslim, people would have said he is pursuing an agenda to islamise nigeria. However, the situation can still be rescued with or WITHOUT |
The question that still begs for answer is why is it that its the people that should be made the sacrificial lamb once again? What has the regular everyday Chinedu/Aliyu/Segun got to gain if he has to pay 3x more just to ensure some millionaire Otedola et al stops feeding fat from the loophole intentionally created by those who are telling us the subsidy has to go? I don't like the status quo and I am not saying the loopholes should not be blocked but am I supposed to trust GEJ when he says the only way that can be done is for us to pay more? |
Kobojunkie:To a large extent, I agree. But if you have a gov that puts an economic think-tank together and in their wisdom they think the best way to plug the loopholes is by removing subsidy then I'm sorry I'll have to go with the status quo. Mind you, can you vouch for these Aso rock thieves that they will honestly want to plug the loopholes? Can you stick your neck out that they are not the profitting cabals. The Nigerian gov have always been giving annoying excuses to justify stealing from the people even more. Like they take us for f00ls or something. I remember during OBJ, an excuse of curbing smugglers from export petroleum product to west African state was to reduce their profit margin by reducing the subsidy. The same scenario is playing out now in a new disguise. It will be nice if the loopholes can be blocked. But in the absence of a better idea of how that can be done other than making the people pay many times more, I'll rather stick to the status quo |
Kobojunkie:Those protesting probably understands that dia is practically nothing that can be done that will make some cabals not benefit? Eradicating one will most likely give rise to another. That's why its best to let the subsidy stay so the people will not suffer the imminent hardship even if it means some people are feeding on it for now. What good will it be for the people if you block the so called cabals and the people pay many times more for the same products? And I can bet their will still be some cabals benefitting from the subsidy removal as well. |
great1:I appreciate your explanation and concern, but as far as I am concerned, if indeed a bomb was used, then let's call a spade by its name - this is a criminal act. I am a muslim and in all of my years of practicing the religion, I have not come across any teaching that even remotely suggest venting anger by planting bombs. There are ways to let express your disapproval of your leader's methodologies, but certainly not but planting bombs. Maybe the intent in really not to kill as you said, but to conceive the idea alone is WAAYYYYYYYYY OUT OF LINE. Thank you |
What I find difficult to understand is why people just post links without reading the content of the page they are posting. To make matters worse, you guys are just commenting on the wrong cause of the possible scarcity. Their is absolutely nothing in the link that talks about subsidy removal. Just NUPENG fighting for her members' right in SPDC. Meanwhile I am 1000% against removal of subsidy at least not with this corruption infested regime. I can bet the proceeds will be embezzled as usual and not for development. |
Too easy, too fast for someone of such profile. I remain unconvinced. |
I've said this when this news 1st broke out. Am not convinced yet. The way the man just start confessing and naming people is just too easy/fast. But then, I have been wrong b4 and I may be wrong again. I just have this hunch that this is just some half-truth coming out. |
hmmmm ![]() Somehow, I'm not convinced. |
Well, can we still say the slogan Eko o ni baje ooo ![]() |
At the end of the day, the people deserves the kind of leader they get. The sad thing is we have not learnt - we have not even shown that we are ready to learn. Many people still believe some people are making things difficult for uncle GEJ. That may be true, but if he is competent, he should be able to use the powers at his disposal to turn things around. Sad that we thought we had it bad before now in terms of infrastructural development, now we can't even ask for development at the moment we just want peace and security. People say GEJ needs time to develop nigerian economy, the question is do we have to wait for four years to get security? How many will survive till then? |
27naira:Is this encouraging in any way? Sounds more like a dumb statement to me and should belong to https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-803895.0.html |
. . . I don't need a second tenure to ensure that no depositor loses his/her money to a failed bank. . . SLS |
OBJ (second term): Fuel subsidy have to be removed because smugglers are making huge profit illegally exporting the product to neighboring west African countries thereby causing scarcity in Nigeria. As if the whole of West Africa have the human and industrial population to suck-up such a huge volume of the product. Abi dem dey drink fuel for ghana? |
Only in Naija. Why comit to sumtin you can't sustain? I guess |
This thread just proves me right again!! You just can't please pathetic NL xtian as-s-ho-les (Many are very reasonable though) When it was thought that no organised muslim group is condemning such evil act from BH, many of these 2-face hypocrites were insinuating that the silence means approval of the killings. Now a group has come out to condemn the act yet, people say they should condemn in Lagos, , , , They are only condemning on paper, , , , public condemnation secret support bla bla bla. As for those qouting the Quran, well, I'll advice you check out the far more heinous verses in your book 1st b4 u start condemning other peoples book. You may want to check out this list for a start: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=762911.msg9178096#msg9178096 The truth as I see it is that Naija don elect a mumu 4 president in the name of religion and tribe and now we are reaping the reward. News flash: there are three + more years to go, dis is just the beginning. Enjoy ur FRESH AIR!! |
presido1:Well I'm sorry ooo, as far as I can understand, state money is for lasting and meaningful developmental purposes be it infrastructural or human. Whatever action a serving governor takes that does not serve the people or even hut them (like this on in the long run) is just as bad no matter how it is polished. We hear he is grading roads and even has a zero-pot-hole team. Such initiative are very much welcome. What stops him from using the money he is dolling out to buy school buses FREE of charge (can even be exclusive for school children). Thereby creating more jobs - Remember people will be employed to drive, maintain and manage those buses. That will be much better and looks more sustaining that doling out N100/month. My question is when our dear fresh air gej finally remove fuel subsidy and the price of everything you can think of goes up, would you people recommend an increase in the 100s of million recurring expenditure in the name N100/month bribe? Presently the bribe comes down to N4.5/day (based on22 school days in a month). By the time the subsidy is removed it will probably be N0.01/day, so you guys will suggest an increment abi? |
ak47mann:Kudos to rochas on the road grading, and the school uniform. These are the kind of things a loving gov should do. But BOO to him on the N300 (or is it N100 as was discussed on another thread?) I'd rather him complement the road contruction with provision of buses instead of dashing N300 out like father x-mas. Providing cheap and reliable xport will serve the people a lot more and create more jobs. Imolites, congratulations, but their is still checks and balancing acts to do. |
Kobojunkie:We will also One question for all pro encouragement allowance disciples. I'm tempted to say many of you don't have your kids in public school. Since their is now a perfect encouragement model in Imo, will you withdraw your kids and put them in Okorocha's encouragement payroll to get your kids interested in going to school? |
I just can't help replying to this post because you got it completely wrong richerdex:I have kids, o.k. My boy looks forward to school every single day not because their proprietor dolls out N100 to them but largely because their is good raport between the pupils and their "anty". I know this when I paid them an unscheduled visit. He also looks forward to the nursery rhymes and wednessday is his favourite day - sport day - where they get to jump and run and skip and swing. . . . . You should see him when he hears the sound of the school bus. If Gov. Rochas even use the money to get them school buses alone, that will be a massive encouragement. It will set him miles apart from the rest as there are currently no state that does that. richerdex:This is the "wrongest" thing I've ever heard/read. Even matured grown ups find it difficult to plan/save let alone kids that act instantenously. Natural fact of life is if you have money in your pocket, you are LIKELY TO SPEND IT. Now I can assure you that the N100 will be blown in two days maximum. Although the school fee is very reasonable compare to crazy amount some school collects, the day my son's proprietor gives him 1kobo, that will be his last in that school. |
For the 1st time I have to clap for GEJ. It's long overdue to call the bluff of these western powers. I just hope it will be sustained as I am afraid they will chicken-out b4 we can blink our eyes to protect their foreign accounts. I hope GEJ extend the same move to MTN (I heard they moved their HQ to Ghana- yet project fame is perpetually hosted by naija where the market really lies) Micheline, and other companies that have abandoned Nigeria for Ghana. |
renewnaija:You just provided a fresh perspective. Isn't their a possibility that the students the governor is trying to encourage only show up on pay days?? I mean out of 22 school days in a month, some could be smart enough to only come to school during the last week or about the day their national cake will be shared ![]() renewnaija:Now seriously, I don't know if you really mean that or you are just being sarcastic. I hope its sarcasm cos N100/month is like N4.5/day (based on 22 school days in a month). Now I ask is transportation that cheap in Imo that N4.5 will take you to and from school? If he is truly interested in encouraging student to go to school, suggestions have been given (since he seems to lack ideas) that will make even artisans come back to school. Why are we even worrying ourselves sef. Just occurred to me that you really can't expect much from a gov. that has turned governance into a joke. I mean this is a man that has a clown in his carbinet (Chief Comedian of the state), has created an office called SA Events (Ist Lady) and we are here debating N100/month encouragement allowance for pupil. hahahahaha I laff owelle ![]() I'm out |
If my memory serves me right, there have been three (3) of such dates in this year alone: 1/1/11; 11/1/11; 1/11/11. Nothing has happened. What makes you think this next date will be any different. Except of course you are one of the evil doers and have advance knowledge of what you are planning. So if I may ask can you kindly advice us where not to go on that day ![]() |
@topic This is the very reason why I think the kind of political revolutions that swept the arab world will not work in naija. The arabs had a common enemy and they went after it. Their is a prototype of corrupt practices of government in every establishment in this country - Local government, private companies, etc. Who should we face to get rid off? Definately not GEJ (even though I didn't vote for him). For example, going after any particular individual or group of people will not stop the police from collecting #20. Similarly, going after the police will not stop PHCN workers from giving you crazy bills? So, in my opinion, corruption has to be tackled on a top-to-bottom principle. It is going to be difficult and many of us will even kick against such an attempt by any president that is sincere enough to truly take up the challenge. But the golden question is with the people still this corrupt, how will a sincere man emerge as the president? |
