The Edo government has given security agencies in the state 24 hours within which to produce the killers of one of the #EndSARS protesters in Benin on Friday. Recall that unidentified hoodlums had swooped on the protesters, who had converged at the popular King’s Square in the early hours of Friday. While one of the protesters was feared dead, many others sustained varying degrees of injuries from the attack by the hoodlums. Addressing the protesters, the state Deputy Governor, Mr Philip Shaibu, while condemning the ‘unprovoked attacks’, ordered the security agencies to fish out the perpetrators within the next 24 hours. “We don’t want either SARS or SWAT in Edo. The second thing is that I have given instructions to the security agencies to fist out those behind the attack. “The police, Department of State Services (DSS) and others must bring to book those who stoned you, shot at you and the one who killed that young man. “Some of you sustained injuries; I can see them from here; they have 24 hours to bring them to book,” he said. The Deputy Governor also directed that the victim be taken to the morgue, pledging that he would be given a state burial and treated as the martyr of the struggle. “He will be remembered for being part of the struggle, and by the grace of God, he will never be forgotten. “When all these reforms must have taken place, it will be on record that he joined the struggle for emancipation. I want to assure you that Edo government believes in your peaceful protest. “You have been protesting, and nobody has been injured; you have been protesting, with no property destroyed. That is what is called peaceful protest. “Those miscreants who want to create problem, I can assure you that we will not fold out hands and watch them brutalise any of you. That, I want to assure you. So, please maintain your peaceful protest. Shaibu, who noted that President Muhammadu Buhari had promised a reform in the police, said that the state government would ensure that the country eventually had a reform that would be people-friendly. “The police are meant to protect lives and property, and not to destroy them. So I want to assure you that we are with you on this,” he said. Speaking on behalf of the protesters, Mr David Osayande requested that a state burial be given to the victim of the protest. “One of us has been killed during this struggle. Sir, we want a state burial for him; we want an end to police brutality; we want the police to stop arresting us without committing any offence,” he said.

I WEEP FOR THE SOUTH All Southern politicians are driven by untold degree of selfishness. While in office, they are all aspiring for the next office. The only strategy to get on the ladder is to sacrifice their people, their region. They do everything possible to please the Hausa Fulani Northerners in order to be favoured. We can go back a little to pull out some examples. (1) Gov. Peter Odili wanted to run for presidency*, he squandered River State money on Northern Emirs and Northern Opinion leaders. At the end, he failed. (2) Gen Obasanjo held up all development programs in the South and promoted infrastructure development in the North in order to get the 3rd term agenda through*. At the end, he failed. (3) James Ibori wanted to be a Vice President to President Yar'dua, in place of Jonathan*. Delta State Liaison office in Abuja, became an ATM for all the Northern PDP members. At the end, he fail, he was sent to prison. (4) Goodluck Jonathan postponed South South development to his anticipated second tenure* and put in all resources to the rehabilitation of the Almajiris, Emirs Palace from Sokoto to Maiduguri. Built Abuja- Kaduna Rail line when Lagos Ibadan Express Way was impassable, East West Road was a mere historical concept; built and completed Federal Universities in Katsina, Jigawa etc but did foundation ground breaking for the the Federal University in Bayelsa. At the end, he was sent out of the Villa by the Northern INEC Chairman he appointed. (5) The Former Minister for Aviation, Stella Odua, funded in full*, the rehabilitation & upgrading of the Kano, Sokoto, Katsina Airports but Port Harcourt Airport operated from a Tarpaulin, Enugu completely short down. At the end, AMCON took over all her assets and currently facing EFCC. (6) Ibe Kachukwu was the Chairman of NNPC BOT & Petroleum Minister* at the same time. He promoted the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano Gas Pipeline. He rehabilitated the Petroleum institute in Kaduna when the Petroleum Institute in Warri was not captured in the budget. He was humiliated out of office. (7) Obono-Obla was appointed the Chairman of Government Asset Recovery Committee*. His target was only all past office holders from the South South and South East. At the end, he was framed and arrested. ( The immediate past MD of NDDC and Akwa Ibom State APC Governorship candidate, Nsima Ekere gave out emergency jobs (contracts) only to Southern Contractors fronting for Northerners*. NDDC became an ATM for "the Villa Boys". Where is he now?(9) Rotimi Amaechi is lobbying to be the next Vice President, in 2023*. His first action is to sell the South and became a saboteur. No wonder why as a Transport Minister he found it very necessary to build the Lagos-Ibadan- Abuja-Kaduna-Kano-Katsina Rail line, Calabar - Maiduguri Rail line, Transport University in Katsina. The Great Eastern Railway line From Port Harcourt via Aba, Onitsha to Enugu to Okene in his books, is not feasible. Who are the MDs of Nigerian Ports Authority and NIMASA? (10) The current Minister of State For Petroleum Resource, Chief Timipre Sylva, has initiated the construction of the Ajaokuta-Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Gas Pipe line* to facilitate the building of a Gas Power Station in Abuja and Kaduna and "to turn Kano into an Industrial Head Quarters". The man is from Bayelsa State where there is over 90% unemployment and no electricity light from National Grid. The story is long!!! |
The protest in the federal capital is taking another turn. The lives around the area are at stake as well as the properties as Fulani/Hausa boys also identified to be Pro-SARS organisers pursue protesters with heavy sticks. It was a sight as boys came out in mass with heavy sticks and other harmful materials, running and rushing forward in rage as if they are coming to kill and to destroy. According the lady that recorded the video, she alleged that the boys must have been paid to come and scatter the protesters amd as well destroy their properties so they could learn their lessons. Unfortunately for the protesters, they were unarmed as the directives of the peaceful protest requires and so since they could not confront them, they all took to their heels. This led to the destruction of car glasses, body and other parts since they couldn't find anyone to unleash their frustrations on. However, the protesters later came back for them when they realised they were bent at inviting severe destructions. Some people were captured too. This incident happened under Berger Bridge in Abuja. When these were happening, there was no police officer in sight according to those who recorded the video. People should be reminded to stay safe where ever they are pertaking in this protest. Everyone deserve to live and see the end of this struggle.

Pastor Enoch Adeboye has lent his voice to the #Endpolicebrutality campaign and has also called for the restructuring of Nigeria. The clergyman who is the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God RCG, said this in a posted shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday night October 13. According to him, it is either Nigeria is "restructured or we break up." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaKUFYfO_Q0

And Nigerians are living legally in other countries too. So breakup will not stop Southerners from living, working and doing legitimate business in the North. |
As men of the Nigeria police were shooting and firing teargas cannisters to disperse hundreds of Nigerians calling for an end to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), below is the woman that stood her grounds against all odds. Her name is AISHA YESUFU, she is almost 50 years old but she is a model to the generation that came before us. During the protest in Abuja yesterday, October 10, 2020, Aisha Yesufu sat under the sun for hours, she didn't even speak to any news station reporters or any journalist that tried to engage with her. When she and other protesters advanced towards the Police Headquarters in Abuja around 6:20pm to request to see the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, armed policemen stationed within the building started firing teargas at them and violently disrupted the peaceful protest. The protesters still vowed not to leave the premises of the building until the IG of police addressed them. When the whole thing became too serious, policemen started beating and dragging some of the protesters on floor. While everyone was running, this woman, Aisha Yesufu was walking casually in front of the police with her hand raised high in defiance. Police officers reportedly beat her, threw 3 canisters towards her, called her a prostitutee & a useless woman yet it didn't shake the woman. Honestly speaking, Aisha Yesufu showed much bravery at that place. She had nothing except water, all day. While they were shooting the tear gas, she marched to the front lines, walked slowly through the teargas UNPROTECTED! As at the time of this report, she is perfectly fine and currently at home preparing to hit the streets again for the ongoing #EndSARS protest. Who Is This Woman, Aisha Yesufu? Aisha Yesufu is a Nigerian social and political activist who came to prominence for her role in speaking up for the abducted Chibok schoolgirls in 2014. Aisha Yesufu was the co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girl (BBOG) campaign that tirelessly held protests demanding for the rescue of the 276 schoolgirls kidnapped by terrorists in Chibok. The woman is from Edo state but she grew up in the Northern part of Nigeria. She is actually Benin by tribe and also a University graduate. Aisha Yesufu once said that she was born and raised in a place she described as a ghetto due to how poor her parents were. "In fact, people called the place the Ajegunle of Kano, where you have a lot of drug users, street children, almajiris, and using drugs was very normal over there." As God may have it, she got married at the age of 24 while she was still in the university. to one Mr Aliu and their marriage is blessed with a grown boy & girl.

Is This Another Prophesy Coming To Reality ? — What Pastor T.B Joshua Said Some Years Ago. Temitope Balogun Joshua, popularly known as T. B. Joshua, is a Nigerian charismatic pastor, televangelist and philanthropist. If you know him well, then you should know that he is a very powerful man of God who does miracle and wonders in his mega church know as the Synagogue, Church of all Nation. People from far and near including celebrities always come to him for prayers / deliverance and if there's one thing that is most notable about T.B Joshua, then it's the fact that he is know for his strong controversial prophesies and predictions about things that are going to happen in the future. If you are a member of his church or you watch his sermons on YouTube then you might remember some times ago on sunday, 14th July 2013 when the man of God made the following statements. "Carry your youth along. I am seeing a revolution. I am seeing people take to the streets. At the beginning of that protest, it might be stopped. Eventually, it will become so big that it cannot be stopped. "You can stop protests but you cannot stop a revolution. Because in a revolution, everybody is ready to die, so you cannot stop it. Relating those statements to what is happening in Nigeria right now, you can see that it is almost as if T.B Joshua saw into the future. With the Revolution/ "EndSARS" protest going on, This got me thinking if this is another prophesy that is happening in our country. Well I pray and hope for peace and unity of our dear country Nigeria. Do you think this is a true prophecy by the man of God or is it just chance ? Write your comments below

How each player fare against the African champions at the Jacques Lemans Arena. Maduka Okoye (7/10) Despite being beaten six minutes into his first Nigeria start, Okoye fared reasonably well as the game went on. While many of his stops were quite basic, in fairness, they still needed saving and prevented Djamel Belmadi’s side from extending their early lead. William Troost-Ekong (7/10) Dealt reasonably well with Algeria’s attacks for most of the game, intercepting dangerous deliveries and clearing the ball away from harm’s way from time to time. Troost-Ekong lost the duel with Rami Bensebaini which ultimately led to the North Africans' sixth-minute goal, possibly the only black mark on the Watford centre-back's showing. Booked in the first half. Leon Balogun (6.5/10) The second half of the famed ‘Oyibo Wall’ returned to the Super Eagles XI and was decent for the duration of the encounter. Progressed the ball with some driving runs in the opening half, which wasn’t sustained for the entirety of the game. Tyronne Ebuehi (5.5/10) Ebuehi didn’t offer as much attacking impetus as debutant Zaidu Sanusi on his return to the Super Eagles. Sometimes struggled to cope with Said Benrahma. Had an effort on the hour which flashed just wide. Zaidu Sanusi (6/10) The left-back was impressive in the first 45 minutes in the green jersey, offering the sort of attacking zest that Nigerians have craved for years. Created a big chance for Paul Onuachu in the first-half with a lovely cross, but his level dropped in the second half. Frank Onyeka (5/10) Was sometimes progressive in his play but was taken off after the half-time whistle, lasting only 45 minutes on his international bow. Semi Ajayi (5.5/10) Was useful in aerial duels but the decision to start the West Bromwich Albion defender in central midfield wasn’t justified. Alex Iwobi (8/10) Had an ambitious effort in the opening half flash just wide and he linked play impressively before half-time. However, the Everton man’s level deteriorated significantly after the interval, with several easy passes going off-kilter in the second half. Surprisingly stayed on for 85 minutes. Samuel Chukwueze (6/10) The Villarreal wide attacker had a lively first half as his pace and direct running posed problems for the Algeria backline. This wasn’t sustained after the break and he was eventually replaced by Ahmed Musa with 15 minutes to play. Samuel Kalu (6/10) Was unfortunately withdrawn early having sustained an injury but he combined well with Sanusi in the first 45. Had one overly zealous effort go way over the crossbar and another comfortably saved. Paul Onuachu (5.5/10) The towering Genk forward occupied the centre-backs and was a willing runner until his withdrawal. Missed two presentable opportunities — created by Sanusi and from a Chukwueze corner — before Kelechi Iheanacho replaced him in the 67th minute. Was frustratingly caught offside on a few occasions. Mikel Agu (5/10) Was clumsy in possession and seemed off the pace in the defensive third. Wasn’t the performance he would have wanted having not played for the West Africans since 2018. Moses Simon (5.5/10) Simon wasn’t really productive, but it wasn’t for the want of trying. He drove forward on the left-wing intermittently after replacing Kalu, however, the Nantes attacker was unsuccessful with his final ball. Kelechi Iheanacho (5/10) Didn’t offer enough in an attacking sense after coming on for Onuachu. Very nearly equalized at the death but his free-kick from the far right couldn’t creep in. Kevin Akpoguma (5/10) The Hoffenheim wide defender replaced Ebuehi with about 20 minutes to play for his maiden cap. Had little influence on proceedings as Nigeria chased the equalizer. Ahmed Musa (N/A) Didn't play a significant part in the game after coming on with 15 minutes to play. Samson Tijani (N/A) Replaced Iwobi with four minutes of normal time remaining |

BREAKING: Gunmen Attack SARS in Enugu, Kills 6 SARs officials, injures many and set prisoners free Just in, an unknown Gunmen have been reported to have attack the special Anti-robbery Squad SARS, again but now in Enugu State. According to report six SARS officials have been killed and many have been injured, also all prisoner have been set free. Remember that last week an unknown Gunmen also attacked SARS operatives in Oyibo, Rivers State. This is really getting out of hands and I think the government and leaders should look into it. This is because of the uncountable numbers of innocent youths and citizens that the special Anti-robbery Squad SARS have wasted their lives. Nigerians are really angry and cannot tolerate this again that's why they're are saying an End to SARS Operation in Nigeria. The attack on SARS should be a warning to Nigeria Government for them to end SARS |

Dare said the grievances faced by Nigerians are being addressed, hence no need to embark on peaceful protest. Naira Marley had called for a peaceful protest over the illegality of some operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS. The singer had vowed to lead the protest against injustice meted out on Nigerians. Advising the singer against the protest, the minister said the federal government was determined to tackle the issue. In a tweet, the minister wrote: “I urge you and other youth not to embark upon any protest. Your grievances are being addressed at the highest level of government. “As the Minister in charge of youth I know this is an issue that must be tackled. Government is doing just that.”

The 4th of October thanksgiving service, the great man of God who is the G.O. of R.C.C.G, Pastor Enoch Adeboye released thunderous curses on the enemies of Nigeria. The great man of God titled his sermon for the 4th of October, Let the God arise, and the text was taken from these biblical verses, Psalm 68, Exodus14: 1-14, Judge 14:1-6, and finally Samuel 17. He said: When God arises, stagnation comes to an end, when he arises then he makes a way where there is no way. When God arises, it doesn’t matter who may set the blockage. I remember some years ago I traveled down to Kano state to visit a friend, we visited a zoo and saw a lion inside a strong iron cage. Whenever he approaches all Pastors, general overseers and everyone moved back. Everyone was scared because Lion can choke one to death, because he belongs to the family of chokers. Every Lion choking Nigeria, choking Nigerians with hunger, choking Nigeria with poverty should be destroyed by fire. When you see fake friends like nations claiming to be friends, rejoicing when there is a problem for a nation so that they can loan out, sell weapons to destroy your citizens, all enemies of Nigeria pretending as friends, the Lord should destroy them. Every terrorist and their sponsors shall not see the new year.”

Pastor Adeboye is among three old acquaintances of President Muhamadu Buhari who now identify restructuring as a way out of the crisis facing the country. In 2015, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) which Adeboye heads played a crucial role in bringing the present administration to power. The inclination of the church was upon the nomination of a senior pastor of the church, Pastor Yemi Osinbajo as the All Progressives Congress, APC presidential running mate. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is another convert to the chorus for restructuring. While in office as president and even after he left he was adamant against the calls for restructuring which was then mouthed by ‘progressives’ inclined to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. His nationalistic attribute endeared him to Northern leaders, enabling his return to power in 1999 at end of military rule. Obasanjo was one of the loud opponents of President Goodluck Jonathan’s bid for a second term in 2015 and open supporters of Muhammadu Buhari’s. Today, he not only has fallen out with the government, but has of recent warned of a possible collapse of Nigeria, if the Buhari administration fails to restructure the country to assuage ill-feelings from contending interests. Professor Wole Soyinka in 2014 took a swipe at President Jonathan saying he is worse than the biblical neo-babylonian, King Nebuchadnezzar and described him as a president that embraces impunity. The Nobel Laureate used his intellectual capacity to support the anti-Jonathan coalition in 2015, but two years later, in 2017, he declared that Nigerians feel less secure now than “a few years ago” apparently drawing comparison between the Buhari and Jonathan administrations. Today, Soyinka is among those who feel the present administration has failed the people. Unlike Adeboye and Obasanjo he is, however, not strange in the restructuring choir. Giving more vent to the call for restructuring, he said “One way of stopping the bloodbath is to reconfigure the nation. States must be given maximum control over their resources. It’s Either Nigeria Restructures Or Breaks – Adeboye “Those insisting on restructuring do so because they know that there is something wrong with the state of Nigeria. “Many times, Nigerians have come together to proffer solutions and the way forward for the country, but after spending so much time and effort, nothing ever comes out of it. “The recommendations are left to gather dust. How much longer shall we continue like this?” Will Buhari listen to his old friends?

Otunba (Dr ) Maroof Olanrewaju, the National President of the organization. A Socio-cultural group – Oodua Peoples Care Initiatives (OPCI), has warned that the country is sitting on a time bomb that may explode any time. The National President of the organization, Otunba (Dr ) Maroof Olanrewaju, gave the warning while fielding questions from the newsmen by the sideline during the triple celebration of ifa festival, his birthday and general meeting in Ilorin at the weekend. He said: “Failure of the Federal Government to restructure the country has given birth to unemployment, vices like yahoo yahoo, insecurity and current nationhood agitation. He added that the current agitation by Yoruba in Kwara and Kogi to be merged with their kith and kin in the South Western Nigeria would have not arisen had the Federal Government heeded the call of his organization and the people demanding for restructuring and consequent boundary adjustment. He further said his organization called for restructuring to stem Boko Haram terrorist agitation but the government did not listen. Independent Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) agitation as well as Odua Republic agitation has joined which could have been averted. Lamenting on the security situation in Nigeria, he said, ” security has collapsed. With a population of about 200million and since about 2009 to date, how much has Nigeria spent on security? What are will experiencing till today? All the security personnel – police, army, DSS, customs and immigration but it has not been solved, why? The foundation of Nigeria has already cracked “We are facing tribalism challenge. If it is a Yoruba man that is the Chief of Army Staff like Gen. Abdulrahman Buratai, he would have been fired. All the heads of the security paraphernalia are Hausa- Fulani. It is already a family affair. Therefore, it will be difficult to get any result. The bandits and herdsmen are mostly Fulani too. ” Not every leader would be like former President Olusegun Obasanjo who attacked and dealt with Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) when he was in power. Many OPC members were ruthlessly dealt with and killed most especially in Lagos. “Today, terrorists would be arrested, set free as repentant and they would go back to Sambisa to operate. When President Muhammadu Buhari was coming in 2015, he promised to bring an end to banditry and and terrorism in Northern Nigeria within a very short time. We thought that his military experience would stand him better than former President Goodluck Jonathan and voted for him. But alas, what is the situation like today? Every street now engages security services and even the Yoruba States has teamed up together to start ” Amotekun” which Miyeti Allah cattle breeders kicked against, saying it is targeted at them. Has the arrest of herdsmen with Ak 47 riffles made in Shaki area last week not proved Amotekun right?”. On celebration of Nigeria at 60, OPCI president described it as “celebration of corruption and insecurity with lots of lives and properties destroyed. He said Nigeria is 60 but behaving as if it is not yet 40 years. That was not how Alhaji Tafawa Balewa, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo did when they were at the helms of the affairs.. Bemoaning the dilapidated condition of Nigeria road infrastructures, he said, “Nigerian leaders are killing Nigerians because while the leaders are shuttling around with helicopters the ordinary man are dying through accidents occurring daily on our roads. The armed robbers, bandits and kidnappers don’t need to block roads any longer as the roads are even not motorable. “All the neighbouring countries like Benin Republic, Togo, Ghana, Cameroon which are not naturally endowed like Nigeria have better roads than Nigeria.

The thinking is that it will satisfy the increasing clamour for power shift to the South. Buhari’s close loyalists believed that Jonathan would be harmless to their group interest and as such the right person to take over if power were to shift to the South, “he handed over power peacefully and nursed no bitterness against anyone and therefore will not be a threat to the interest of the north,” according to a top source in Buhari’s camp who didn’t want to be identified. The attraction to Jonathan’s possible candidacy is that he will serve just one term of four years. In a related development yesterday, the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), disclosed that it would not discriminate against any person in the build-up to the next presidential election on its platform, including a former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who the party said was free to take another shot in 2023. According to multiple sources within the northern establishment spoken to by THISDAY, the idea of having Jonathan succeed Buhari is a very attractive preposition, “the former president is a good man, he did well in his first term and we believe he has learnt his lessons and where he failed and is unlikely to repeat those mistakes that cost him the presidency in 2015. He did alot for the North, so why not?” Another source privy to the development also told THISDAY last night “yes we are looking at the Jonathan option, he is a safe bet and of course a very amiable gentleman, who is not likely to rock the boat.” Thus, within the northern establishment, the consensus is beginning to gain momentum, with Buhari’s loyalists pushing the button to have Jonathan succeed their boss. THISDAY checks also showed a growing number of influential northern leaders of thought are favourably disposed to the idea of Jonathan’s second coming. This is particularly because a majority of those, who have bought into this idea, were of the view that the former president represented the shortest route for the north to regain power. By virtue of the provisions of the 1999 Constitution as amended, one can only be sworn in as president for two terms of four years, although Jonathan too had also taken the oath of office twice. Those supporting Jonathan reason that if another southerner emerges, more so a young candidate, he is likely to spend eight years in office before power returns to the north. The north, and Buhari in particular are said to be impressed with the way Jonathan conceded defeat and proceeded to hand over power, when he lost the 2015 election and the way he has since conducted himself out of power. Multiple sources told THISDAY that Buhari and his loyalists have over the years come to see Jonathan as someone, who is trustworthy and dependable, and to whom he could hand over power in 2023. For instance, they also point at the growing friendship and bond between both men, as Buhari on many occasions, had expressed his astonishment at the way Jonathan conceded defeat and praised him as a statesman. One of such occasions was in January 2018, Buhari at a dinner for top members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the presidential villa in Abuja had said he went temporarily into a coma when former President Goodluck Jonathan called him to concede defeat in the 2015 presidential election. He had said then he felt Jonathan had stayed long enough in office to have caused problems when he lost the election. He described the former President’s decision to accept defeat as a “great” one. “When the former president rang me, I went temporarily into a coma,” the president said. “I will never forget the time. It was quarter past 5 p.m. and he said he called to congratulate me and that he had conceded. “He asked if I heard him, and I said yes. I thanked him for his statesmanship,” he said. “The truth is after being a deputy governor, a governor, vice president and president for six years, and he took that decision is great. He could have caused some problems. He had stayed long enough to cause problems.” In 2015 after losing the election, in an unprecedented step, Jonathan had called Buhari to concede defeat and issued a statement the following after conceding, urging his supporters to accept the result. He urged his supporters to follow “due process” in channeling their frustrations at losing the election amid fear of violence. He re-echoed his now famous statement during the 2015 campaign that his his ambition was not worth the blood of any Nigerian. “Nobody’s ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian,” Jonathan said in a statement issued after his election defeat. “The unity, stability and progress of our dear country is more important than anything else.” These loyalists of the president have further cited the fact that Jonathan was the only former head of state with Buhari during the 60th independence anniversary celebration of the country at the Eagle Square, Abuja

Oodua Republic agitators have petitioned the United Nations (UN), European Union (EU), African Union (AU), American Government, British Government, Nigeria’s Human Rights Commission and all governors of Yoruba speaking states, including Kogi and Kwara seeking protection. The agitators under the umbrella of Yoruba Voice of Liberation (YOVOLIB) warned the Federal Government against arresting leading Yoruba nationalists, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams and President-General of the Yoruba World Congress (YWC), Prof. Banji Akintoye and others. It warned that Nigerians in the Diaspora would respond if their leaders are touched. In a statement titled: “Four Things President Muhammadu Buhari Must Do To Avoid Interntional Actions and Sanctions”, president of the group, Dr. Adekunle Ademola, a United Kingdom-based lawyer urged the international communities to call the Buhari-led government to order on the use of live bullets against harmless protesters. “Nigerian government must respect right of expression, end violence on peaceful protesters and provide platform for dialogue on way forward. The job of law enforcement agencies is to monitor the protest such that order is maintained. This is far from the case in treatment of protesters in Nigeria.. “People of Yorubaland and entire Nigeria have the right to peacefully express their choices in the affairs of Nigeria. In every civilized community, similar to what operated during Brexit and similar situations in history of nations, groups/parties for and against particular terms of association should be allowed to exercise their fundamental rights of expression in enabling environment that enhance informed choices.
