Wanted to respond to other things you wrote but you are probably set in your ways and will look for a means to justify yourself. If there was no association between tithe, tribute and tax why mention them at all, are you trying to confuse people. When did temple tax become tribute to another king?

Why are you doing this?
You didn't even contradict the fact that I stated that it were the Levities who were accused of theft.

I even asked you a simple question as children of God who are we supposed to pay tithe to and you said pastors and bishops? Are they from Levi? Did God give any command that pastors are to collect tithes?. Did every sheperd in Israel collect tithe? Did every spiritual leader in Israel collect tithe? Did Samuel, Elijah, Elisha collect tithe, did Jeremiah or Isaiah collect it?

What importance is it saying you didn't make a suggestion when you promote that those who are not Levites should collect the tithe, or are your pastors Levites.

You are claiming that you observe the law in fragment, in part does that justify what you practice as what is right and true?

Improper interpretation of the word of God brings destruction and you are a case study. Seeing as you suggest that Romans 10:12 is about both the circumcision and uncircumcised being under the law whereas Paul wrote that in reference to those who believe in God being the same under Him

GOD DOESN'T HATE YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE POOR

John 3:16 popular biblical verse, for God so loved the world that He gave, before we finish reading this verse, know that you were either in the world or are still in the world. Paul even writes in Romans 5:8 God shows us His love that while we were still sinners, while we were still in the world... and you may say well, "I am no more in sin, I have no sin to offend God so God should bless me and make me prosperous" is that really what the contents of God's love and promise entails. Verse 9 of Romans 5, says and we were free from God's wrath because of that love that brought us Jesus.

So John 3:16 God so loved the world, filled with poor people and He didn't give them riches, He didn't give them money, but He gave them Jesus. One may say, well Jesus is the bread of life and that life is not life in this world but eternal life in the world to come.

God sent Jesus to you who are poor, so that you can have eternal life. Look God knows that you are poor, and He anointed Jesus to preach to the poor, Luke 4:18 & Isaiah 61:1 so did Jesus come to preach wealth and prosperity to the poor? No he came to preach the good news, the gospel.

You may ask how is that a solution to your poverty? Well it is not, it is a solution to your death which all men die for one reason or the other, yes God loves you even though he lets you or anyone die poor. If God wanted to solve your poverty He would send and anoint Jesus to make many wealthy, but then in the short few years of Jesus ministry and even the decades of the apostles added, how many testimonies do you read of Jesus making anyone wealthy and rich? 0, NONE.

Well if one says the gospel will make you rich, beware before you use God's word and name for vain things. This is what Jesus taught, and proclaimed to the poor, Matthew 5:3 & Luke 6:20, blessed are the poor for they receive the kingdom of God.

You are blessed because you are receiving the kingdom of God, and not a fat cheque to fetch you what you eat and drink. Infact, Paul wrote in Rom.14.17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,.

So you are not even receiving what you can eat and drink, but power that gives you peace and joy even in your poverty because of the promise of God's kingdom that is to come.

This is what James writes in Jas.2.5 Listen to me, dear brothers and sisters. Hasn't God chosen the poor in this world to be rich in faith? Aren't they the ones who will inherit the Kingdom he promised to those who love him?

The only reason you may believe or think, God hates you because you are poor is because of the lie you were taught, from the same people who steal and collect the little you have in the name of God selling to you false promises God never gave.

Instead of saying your poverty is proof God doesn't love, you see that it doesn't proof anything other than that God loves you even though you are poor.

Matt.6.33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Which things? The things Jesus mentioned that we need to survive. Things that Jesus taught we should not worry about even though we need them but to trust in God's love and provision for OUR DAILY NEED AND BREAD

Matt.6.31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'... Matt.6.34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

The purpose of seeking the kingdom of God is not for wealth nor for money, it is to find the kingdom of God, seek and you shall find and those who seek are those who can actually see the kingdom of God. So the reason you are born again and can see the kingdom of God, John 3.3, is for you to find it and enter.

Listen, Jesus said

Matt.6.24 "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

My brothers and sisters, God loves you even though you are poor. Do you not know it is easier for you to enter the kingdom of God than it is for those who are rich, Matt. 19:23.

I do understand your exegesis, from the point of clarifying the mustard seed to the view concerning laborers in God's house to the difference between what Abraham gave and what was demanded. I also noted your assumption in that it may have been practiced and learnt by Jacob though you noted it wasn't stated in the bible, as even the fulfillment of Jacob's vowed also wasn't recorded and one can claim such vow was carried out by his descendants who inherited the said land not because God original demanded it but because of the words of Jacob.

Now then therefore should we not also consider like the circumcision what is binding to the house of Jacob and what is binding to the church of Christ, especially of the "uncircumcised" in the flesh?

Do you also suggest that other than the Levities from the tribe of Levi, others could also collect the "tithe" and it would be lawful? Not considering whether the church should be under the law or not, but solely based on observing the said law.

Could you also explain Jesus's response to Peter, in the case you mentioned from the gospel where he was asked if his teacher paid the tribute, though you associated the tithe to tribute, have you considered Jesus's response that it is not the children of the house that pay tribute.

Now ask yourself are the children of God and those in the body of Christ supposed to pay tithe to who?

Nevertheless I could consider the premise of your discuss when suggesting it's value to God's house and listing accurately all the tithes required by the laws of Moses but it becomes more debatable when you bring in Malachi and not consider even though you recognize that it referring to the priests you generalize it. Don't you know it is those who you keep in charge of your finance and not those who give you that you can accuse of theft.

To compare alms, appreciation to that which is mandated contradicts it's self for that which is willing is not forced. To the extent you proclaim that such "disobedience" could give room to the devil and he claims them for himself, how did your "application" bring about such "conclusion"

Then again ask yourself would the improper application of the law bring salvation or destruction, if observing the law even saves?
Christianity EtcThe Message From Jesus On Palm Sunday by gohf(op): 4:13am On Apr 13, 2025
Along he rode in on the back of a colt with a donkey, coats and garments spread upon where he sat and upon his path, leaves were cut for the feet of the ride, and the children and people sang his praises, Hosanna Hosanna, blessed is the king, blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD, blessed is the son of David, Hosanna.

And while they praised some murmured away envy and tried to speak caution but in reply Jesus said, "Haven't you ever read the Scriptures? For they say, 'You have taught children and infants to give you praise.'"

You would be forgiven to solely think that Jesus commending and encouraging the children to praise him without realizing where he got that text from and how it implies to those whom he spoke to.
And the text if from Psalm 8

Ps.8.1 O LORD, our Lord, the majesty of your name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens.

1. Whenever we are celebrated we must give all glory to God. While others may feel we are been praised, we must redirect their attention back to God. Jesus said it is God they are praising.

Ps.8.2 You have taught children and nursing infants to give you praise. They silence your enemies who were seeking revenge.

2. The purpose of praising God is to silent enemies who may be trying to accuse you before God. Praising God strengthens you in the face of confrontation, because the joy of the Lord is your strength remember Paul and Silas. Rejoice in all things I say rejoice, in the face of those who will not celebrate with you, rejoice.

And for the rest of Psalm 8 let us not forget it is God who made us, who honors any man and glorifies him, that's why all glory belongs to God.

So children of God, shout, Hosanna! Hosanna!! Hosanna in the highest.

Happy Palm Sunday everyone. 🌴
Christianity EtcMarrying A Girl After Raping Her Is It Justifiable In Today's Church? by gohf(op):
Marrying a girl after raping her is it justifiable in today's church?

I would like to first note that no where in the bible I read does God command nor condone rape, be it raping women or men. We go from the attempt to rape men in Sodom to the story of Absalom's sister Tamar being raped, of which had various negative consequences to them.

But the question then is, is it justifiable when the man who defiles a woman, and in the case of rape forcefully defiles her then marries her later?

Some of those who have read the laws of Moses would have come across this, and like Paul wrote some want to be known as teachers of the law even when they don't understand it, while James wrote not everyone should teach the scriptures. Now some read the contents of the law and try to practice some of it irrespective of the need to actually understand it's purpose nor the commitment required to practice all of it.

Apart from the unjustifiable act of Jacob's sons, killing the family of the man who raped their sister, Dinah in Genesis 34. The account of Jacob wanting to let her marry the man that raped her may have translated into the law of Moses and shown an understanding in the case of the woman in question, who had lost her virginity at a time when not having it could lessen one's chances of other suitors.

Now the particular scripture containing the law that addresses the subject in question is in
Deut.22.28 - 29
"If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.

I see this more like a punishment to the man than for him to be justified or pardoned for what he had done. Now the punishment may not seem as severe as it is in our 21st century, but considering the times of Moses and verse 25, it is likely most young girls, if not all, were engaged to someone and such men who raped them were killed.

Exodus.22.16 - 17 contains a lighter note for those who take advantage of ladies but not forcefully, here we see the wisdom to protect women in such cases
"If a man seduces a virgin who is not engaged to anyone and sleeps with her, he must pay the customary dowry and accept her as his wife. But if her father refuses to let her marry him, the man must still pay the money for her dowry.

In conclusion if the law doesn't justify such, I do not believe such should be justified under grace, true grace doesn't give room for sin but for repentance from sin, so mercy and forgiveness can be sort from the victim even if you were not caught for without this God may not forgive you.
Christianity EtcWill You Obey Or Say No? by gohf(op): 3:15am On Apr 13, 2025
Would you obey whatever request God makes of you irrespective of the reason or would you deny certain ones based on your moral standard?

There are those who believe that those who believe in God throw reason and logic away, and follow God "blindly" and I know some who believe may say, we live by faith not by sight 2 Corinthians 5:7.

Now the question is, do you believe that "faith" requires you to throw away logic and do whatever you believe God has commanded you to do, irrespective of the reason behind it and assuming you actually can verify if it's God speaking and it is God's command.

Take for instance, "sacrificing" your child as some translations put it, killing women, children and animals, eating food you have never eaten before or you may not even like, giving up your wealth, or any command as such that may not be in line with you.

Jesus being tested said man shall live by every word that comes out from the mouth of God, speaking of our need to be faithful, for faith comes by hearing God's word. Even when devil questioned God's faithfulness, Jesus said, we shall not test God. How many of us see our tests as more reason to be faithful than question God's faithfulness, how many will reject the world to worship God? If God tested the Christ whom He sent and was pleased with, how much more us, so don't think your trials are as a result of God being displeased with you, God is just preparing us for what he has for us. 🙏🏾😇

Christianity EtcRe: If Salvation Is A Free Gift Why Do I Have To Work It Out? by gohf(op): 10:47pm On Mar 30, 2025
ShawttySoFyne:
Okay, we've been treating this topic since the beginning of this month and it's quite lengthy so I'll just do a quick summary.
It has been acknowledged that salvation came through Christ and it was paid for by grace through Christ and yes it is a gift.
okay I dont really like post splitting but I want you to see what i am specifically responding to.

Now I agree with you that salvation comes through Jesus Christ of Nazareth, because through Jesus comes grace and truth like John wrote and by grace we are saved, but when you say "it" is a gift, you have to realize that the essence of my posts were to show what exactly Paul was referring to as the gift, which doesn't disagree with us working out our salvation and our requirements to obey God as Jesus taught us as well. Therefore dismissing the erroneous believe that salvation is a gift and not that salvation is through God's gift, for God gave us Jesus and not salvation, we have to believe and choose to be saved, it is not forced on anyway, we have to pick up our cross and follow Jesus. So hopefully your quick summary shows you understand what has been written.

At salvation you became a son, welcomed into God's family and lineage, you have the righteousness of God and right standing with God, you're an ambassador of Christ etc.
There was also the phases of salvation... starting from how man was created, the soul, spirit and body etc.
I'll focus on the spirit for this though.
When you became born again, God didn't give birth to your flesh again, obviously. Its your spirit that changed his source at salvation cus God himself is a spirit. When man fell his Spirit was corrupted and lacked the capacity to do the will of God.
At salvation God took out that spirit and put a new spirit and that spirit bears witness with the new spirit that you're a child of God.
Romans 8;16,eze 36v26-27
Your spirit got saved, perfected at salvation, nothing to be added or taken away.
okay let me cut in here, having read a bit about your assumptions that we humans are spirits, whereas we are actually souls, though the mix up often occurs, you must remember that it is our souls that get saved, what does it profit anyone to gain the world and lose their souls. The soul that sins shall die, now God putting in us a new spirit is Him putting in us His Spirit like it's promised in Ezekiel 36:26-27 you quoted, so His Spirit is the Holy Spirit we receive after we have been cleansed because of the blood of Jesus and our obedience to repent, turn to God and submit to what He has done for us.
So your choice to focus on the spirit would be correct if we are spirits and not souls who receive the Holy Spirit. Now our understanding may differ, because in greek the same word is used both for Spirit and for soul, infact it is also used for divine, angels and demons etc, but well when a person is born again, they are born of the incorruptible word of God and partake of the nature of Christ by being put into him. Now if anyone who is in Christ doesn't bear fruit they will be cut off, you see being in Christ is the gift done freely not by us but what is expected of us cannot be understated as it doesn't just mean you lose a reward but means you get destroyed for disobedience and in fruitfulness.

So at first we are born under the influence of the flesh but that nature is taken away from us and we are given God's Spirit to live according to His will. The Holy Spirit assures us that we are God's children. Now we have received righteousness by faith but faith without works is dead so the faith that credits us with righteousness, is like Hebrews and James exemplifies in their actions and obedience to God. So a person cannot be right with God if they do not even have the kind of faith that pleases God.

When we say you're righteous or a child of God, we're referring to your Spirit cus your body is still a source of the father of your flesh. Your thinking may not have changed as the thinking of a righteous man, but your spirit is saved when you become born again. It doesn't change the state of your emotions (soul) or things you used to like before you became born again but as you begin to spend time with the word, fellowship with God in private and in church, pray in the spirit etc your thought pattern begins to change.
Eccl.12.7 Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it.

The Spirit from God doesn't need to be saved, it needs to work in us and bring us to salvation. Gen 6:3 God's spirit won't contend with man forever. Now the basis of your message is that you are already saved, which is a wrong premise, for your spirit would return to God irrespective of God's judgement upon your soul, if indeed you are spirit then what happens to your soul isn't important but if you are a soul and have the spirit of God you realize that you have to follow the leading of the Spirit who returns to God so that you as well return to God. Salvation is escape from destruction, if you have not faced death nor died and faced judgement then how have you been saved? What you have received is the promise for salvation and eternal life, which prompts faith and true hope in the resurrection.

Now might I add that I'm an evidence that it is true. As I'm doing all these there are apparent changes. I'm not there yet but it's a process.
In dealing with the Salvation of your soul is what we call "work out your salvation" when you work out your salvation you're causing what's already there to be expressive, manifested . Phill 2:12-13
Your spirit wants to serve God and fulfill God's plan for your life, within your spirit the will of God is there but you have to work it out by renewing your mind. You change your former thought to the new thought that is aligned to who you are now (a new creature) you're permitted now not to take your genealogy from the father of your flesh, I mean separating yourself from the experiences of came from the father of your flesh or lineage and conform yourself to the realities that comes from the father of your spirit.
That's why the bible says that in Christ you're a new creature cause every man alive has a spirit attached to the devil but now you're born again, inside us our spirit is different even if we look alike.
The two witnesses that proves you're saved is the word of God (what it says about Salvation in acts 16v30-31) and the holy spirit. He is our assurance that we belong to God and are going to heaven.
believe Jesus Christ and you WILL be saved. It is different saying, just say yes to Jesus and you ARE saved, but saying you will be saved shows it's a later occurrence in the life of that believer.

(By the way your Christianity should be about knowing God in the first not cus of where you're going) Romans 8v16, ephs 1:13-14 it says we're sealed with the promised holy spirit who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of God's possession for the praise of his glory. You can't earn heaven by your works , we all sin and when you do yes you should acknowledge that it is not in your new nature , repent and forge ahead because Jesus already washed you, but sometimes we even sin unknowingly. Example if God asks you to do something and you don't you've disobeyed which is a sin.
Does that mean the person is going to hell for that? Of course not.
No man is perfect except God.
when you read Eph.1.13-14 the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--... until the redemption, a deposit for an inheritance we haven't received. What inheritance is that, well Jesus spoke a number of times concerning inheriting eternal life.

When you say as children of God our focus should be about knowing God, but do you know why we are to know God.

John.17.3 And this is the way to have eternal life--to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.

Now because we sin doesn't mean we shouldn't obey God, we obey God even though we sin because we trust God who is faithful to forgive all our sins, since salvation is by obeying Him and not by being sinless, our sins are dwelt with by the blood of Jesus.

Now the disobedience you described may not be a willingly one, whether a person decides to live for themselves but by virtue of their weakness they disobey and transgress, they fail to love at some point as they have been commanded to, God forgives but it is a different case when a person lives in sin and enjoys the fruits of wickedness going against God's will and being workers of Iniquity, such would go to hell whether they believe or not.

The fact that I haven't been on NL in years, but for some reason I was led here and I came across your thread when we've treating the same topic in church.
Coindence, maybe or maybe God wants me to tell you this to experience freedom perhaps.
You'd probably turn this around and say maybe I'm the one to see your own view, but that mere fact that we all fall short of God's glory..."All have sinned" "He that is without sin cast the first stone"
There's also the question "should you go on sinning cus Jesus already paid the price?" Of course not.
Towards the ending of Romans 5 and 6 talks about that one.
Its a whole topic on its own.

This topic of salvation has a lot more that can't be written here, it's a whole series and I just tried to pick here and there from what we've been taught so far so I'm sure I'm a bit all around.
This week we'll be taught on how to renew our mind to work out that Salvation so that salvation won't just be a gift on the shelf but a life we're living.
look, he who is without sin, should prompt humility and mercy to others who are weak as we are, but it's doesn't mean that no one pleases God nor does God's will. Abraham obeyed God looking forward to the city not built by men nor by God, yet Abraham sinned, lied and others God knows but that didn't count, what counted to God was that he believed and obeyed. God declared Job righteous before the test, and Job though he complained and was weary, God showed him mercy and showed up. This men were not perfect, neither was Noah but God found them righteous and saved them as an example to future generations, so he tells Ezekiel if a sinner repents and turns from his wicked ways and does what is right, he will forgive all he has done wrong and save his life. Now Jesus came preaching the gospel he said, repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand. Now can a man receive the kingdom of God without repentance.

The man on the cross had to admit his state and be merciful to others, the Samaritan woman was asked for water and was also asked about her adulterous state when she asked for the living water. If it were free then Jesus had no reason to call her attention to it. The woman caught in adultery was told to go and sin no more, was it possible for her to suddenly become perfect. No but for her to turn away from the pleasures of sin and turn to God. It may seem free to you, but to those who obey God that is a cross we carry, for our obedience, to be self controlled, humble and faithful, to be kind and good even to those who may not deserve it, to be long suffering and yet peaceful and joyful, to love in a way that can't be written out simply.

Did you read where Jesus said or where I quoted him in Matt.25.46 "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

Matt.25.34 - Then the King will say to those on the right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
Matt.25.35 - For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.

By the way I searched for Philippians 2:12-13 and this came up, I mean even AI knows it doesn't mean earning...check the emboldened

AI Overview

Philippians 2:12-13 urges believers to "work out your salvation with fear and trembling," emphasizing that God is the one who empowers both the desire and the ability to act according to His good purpose.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Context:
Paul is writing to the church in Philippi, encouraging them to live lives worthy of their calling in Christ.
"Work Out Your Salvation":
This phrase doesn't mean earning salvation through works, but rather living out the salvation that God has already given through faith in Jesus.
"With Fear and Trembling":
This phrase signifies a reverent and humble attitude, recognizing that all good comes from God and not from ourselves.
"God Works in You":
The verse emphasizes that God is the source of both the desire (to will) and the power (to act) to live a life pleasing to Him.
"According to His Good Purpose":
God has a plan for each believer's life, and He empowers them to live it out.
In essence, Philippians 2:12-13 reminds believers to:
Live out their faith consistently, not just when it's convenient or when others are watching.
Recognize that their ability to obey God comes from His grace and power, not their own strength.
Live with humility and reverence, acknowledging that all good comes from God.
I dunno the AI you are referring to exactly o, but I also typed in the same search you claimed you imputed.

Now AI doesn't think it just gives you the "popular or common" response concerning a subject.

You don't expect the AI to go to the original Greek text and give you what you did not ask for. Now you can either listen to an AI or you ask the Holy Spirit if you have to obey God to receive eternal life. Now you can decide to check what katergazesthe means

Thankgod89:
If people say "God gives babies," then it raises the question of why some struggle with infertility while others, even those who may not seem prepared for parenthood, conceive easily. Since God is not partial, how do we explain this?
IF a big IF, because babies come from human sexually relations and though God miracles enables some to bear children it is something he has set forth into motion like every other natural occurrences.

So if two people without God's divine intervention have issues that prevent conception there would be no baby. It's like age for instance in the case of Sarah, or not knowing a man like Mary, it's natural that they as women don't conceive

We know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. The man who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know.

If you have something eg a car or house or job, if you take care of it, it would be eternal.

If you don't, you will lose it. Eg Saul, Esau, Solomon etc

I also read you saying

"Because if anyone falls away they won't receive eternal life".

Hence the question I asked which is Since you say salvation is permanent then what happens to a person who is saved as you say yet he does not receive eternal life?

Where would such person headed to since he did not get eternal life?

But if you cannot answer it and continue dodging it, we understand!
well as long as you read where I wrote salvation is eternal life 😊

If you continue to listen to those who teach you that salvation is free for the wicked and you deceive yourself into thinking you are saved despite your wickedness, all that awaits you is destruction.

so you can take care of something and make it eternal or make someone eternal by taking care of it.

This is what you read

Simple answers:
Is salvation permeant? Yes Salvation is permanent it is eternal life, nothing can end it or take you away from it. That's what it means to be saved from eternal death and destruction.

God can't save someone and then lose them.

Why does scripture warn about falling away if salvation is eternal? Because if anyone falls away they won't receive eternal life.

But if it can be lost, does that mean salvation depends on human effort? Salvation cannot be lost, because God is the one rewarding salvation to the good and destruction to the wicked through Jesus Christ.

Some believe that once saved, always saved, while others argue that a believer can fall away. Hebrews 6:4-6 warns about those who “were once enlightened” but later fall away. Yet, John 10:28 says no one can snatch believers from Christ’s hand. So, is salvation permanent, or can it be lost through sin and unbelief?

The Bible also speaks of enduring in faith until the end (Matthew 24:13) and warns against backsliding (2 Peter 2:20-22). Some say these verses refer to those who were never truly saved, while others argue they prove a believer can turn away and forfeit salvation. If salvation is eternal, why do scriptures warn about falling away? But if it can be lost, does that mean salvation depends on human effort? What do you think?
